- A Man is released from Prison.And Joe Beck is cautious as he caused a friend of his to have to retire from the force over the injuries he caused him.Now though the ex con is a shadow of himself and no real harm to anyone.Guest starring Rachel Davies,who was known by then and Kevin Whatley who wasn't known yet at all.A highlight of Series 1 certainly.

This is an early tv role for him.3 years before AWP started.He was in some early Angels Series 6 too.Autumn 1980 same as this.
Rachel Davies was in Boon later I think.My late Dad really liked her I remember.

I think questions about negligence would be asked nowdays for this situation (even if they weren't back in 1980). There's no way a regular bobby should be let on duty if drunk no matter how many mints he's had. I think Inspector Darblay would have been sparse on the details in her report after the accident.
Still, I think this is the only incidence of a UK drama with a character who has the same surname as me. It's not a common name, even in Lancashire.
