    Sorry Tim but screws do back out over time. Why do you think thread lock is used on screws?

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  2 года назад +13

      I've never had this problem in countless watch links owned and thousands more inspected firsthand. Nearly 100 percent of the time a loose screw is one incorrectly tightened. Thread lock is cheap and plentiful if you need it. Pre-2012 PP bracelets have no reputation for screws "backing out." Today's Patek and TAG Heuer use pins and sleeves for the same reason, and that reason is money

      I only have the post-production capacity for one project like that. Other people at WB create a demand on the post-production resources, so I shoot Collector's Guide in the style of the old Versus, and I shoot the current comparisons in one pass.

    Maybe I like the Patek more. I'm not sure anymore. But it also seems unwearable these days, because of the inflated value. So I'd probably choose the VC (and a lot of money) over it, so that I could actually wear it. Being able to swap to straps is also fantastic.
    Vacheron Contstantin also seems like the better manufacturer/dealer to actually buy from.
    And the Overseas' polished bezel is overwhelmingly preferable to the Nautilus' satin finishing, which will show all sorts of wear.

    Just noticed with the Nautilus…it has a shaped sapphire. Out of the two here, I think the VC is the more beautiful watch. But the Patek tops it in all other categories, with the exception of warranty and bracelet tech. I’d go with the latter for those reasons.

    I’m on the fence w/ a draw. Both pieces have features I like & others that I wish were slightly different. The V has a nicer dial while the thin frame concerns me were as the frame is solid & thicker while the dial could be slightly upgraded to a solid dark color like the V opposed to the rigid pattern design. Both are a draw & I would pick both over a Daytona even though I love the white gold/ black dial Daytona.

My concern with the VC having the quick release mechanism is how long such a system will last. Less expensive watches do not cause me to lose sleep. I'm going to call BS on your calling of BS Tim. Somehow this flabbergasts people but screws actually do back out and the last thing you want is your $150,000 watch dropping off your wrist into a lake or onto concrete. Yes I am aware of a thing called Loctite and I'm also aware that Rolex (and my own Tudor) have screws that somehow don't back out but allow me to counter that by saying pins and sleeves are more secure still and no Patek owner is resizing their own bracelet.
    When it comes down to it on an expensive watch I'd prefer pins and sleeves every time.

    Vacheron has more refined elegance, balance and subtle command of nobility. It's design and movement is perfect, I own 5 VCs and they run perfectly, even after wearing them for sports.
    Patek is just resting on the laurels of Gerald Genta for the Nautilus, an ugly, clumsily flat and boring bezel design. Good luck buying a Patek thinking it will make money

    I’ve owned the Overseas on 2-different occasions (ref 4500 in steel) and must say the “Seiko” look just bugs. You tell yourself it’s holy trinity and a viable alternative to the Nautilus or Royal Oak........but it’s not, sorry man. There’s a reason the Nautilus & Royal Oak trade for multiples of retail, they check all the boxes and wear so well. I currently own the 41mm current version of the Royal Oak Chrono with blue dial, the 15202 Jumbo & the Jarno Trulli Offshore and an FP Journe for a dress piece on a strap and couldn’t be happier 👍🏻
