I have been being a fan boy knowing full well these problems exist because I do love this game and want it to succeed. As badly as I want to say its perfect its a 8/10 at best. What really hurts is thinking what it could have been with better game mechanics.
Loved the video! Fair and honest review. Another point to criticise is the lack of explanation. The game just doesn't really explain how certain things work and sometimes the turorial messages just fade away too fast... :/
The most mindblowing detail was a mission where Mary asked arthur to follow her to find out what her dad is up to, right before she entered the barn i accidentally put on my mask and right before the cutscene she says “arthur put that away, it’s not like we’re going to rob a bank” such a subtle detail but it just blew my mind how the developers saw this as a scenario and implemented it into their game.
@@SeekTheCross there's actually hidden dialogue, where John says he doesn't want to talk about Arthur, because it brings back so many bad and depressing memories, but he thinks about him all the time.
It makes you feel like a legendary gunslinger which Arthur was. I feel like it was perfect. Want more of a challenge, turn off auto-aim. Want to be immersed in Arthur’s character and feel like Arthur, leave auto-aim on.
This was, without a doubt, the most emotional story I've ever had the pleasure of playing through. I had never played a videogame that had this much influence over my emotions. I'm not ashamed to admit that the ending brought a few tears to my eyes. This truly is a masterpiece.
I think the best detail in the game for me is the fact that after you transition to john not only is the writing in the journal different but all the drawings get worse too.
I just finished the game. I will never forget it. I've been gaming for almost 20 years and this is hands down the best game I've ever played. I salute you Rockstar. Magnificent.
@Warm Soft Kitty well graphics were pretty shit on the first red dead redemption and if I'm not wrong that got a game of the year all it's basically the same game just improved in many factors fr tho when ever I see someone hating on this game they always seem to be so negative and bring up flaws like some of the controls which can be changed btw lol just give credit when it's due the game isn't shit might not be the game for you but it's far from shit
I bought RDR 2 the day it came out and I completed it yesterday. Right now I'm empty, this wasn't a game, it was a life experience. Arthur teach us one of the best virtue that the human being can posses... nobility. Always we have to keep in mind that never is too late for redemption.
That would be awesome, and with the unused jack marston voice clips found it is a possibility. I just don’t see why they wouldn’t make it it’s own game
@@viperlife914 not really a whole game. They have the basic assets already, like the maps or character models. Maybe they'd record the voice acting again in higher quality. Rdr1 isn't even half the length of rdr2
I live in Donegal where Sean is from and my heart lit up when he said he's from there because no video game character has ever been from there and to have to game w/ a Donegal rep be rd2 was insane. Then he was shot in the head.
martin53mattsson so did I! I thought he was a bit hard on it, because the shooting wasn’t meant to be fluid, it’s the fucking Wild West, Jesus. Yes, it’s not fluid, neither are the animations meant to be fast. It’s meant to be realistic. Ugh.
Fun fact, as we know, in the epilogue Dutch shoots Micah, on top of a snowy mountain with John standing there. When you confront Dutch in the first game (also on a snowy mountain top) he says “John, we really gotta stop meeting like this” that new context is awesome considering what we played in RDR2. The writing team knocked it out of the park.
dayum son I guess you could say that he was lying about his past as a cover up. Idk how rockstar could put so much time and detail into this game and make such a huge mistake like that. That’s my explanation. I’ve never played the first one so idk.
Sadie and Charles not being hunted down may not actually be a plothole. It was mentioned early in the game that Charles had joined the gang only a few months prior to chapter 1 and sadie of course didnt join until chapter 1 and wasnt involved in much criminal activity with them until later in the game and as such neither of them may have been identified by pinkertons as members of the Van Der Linde gang
@@js4976 let them dream bro😂 RDR2 is beautiful but even i noticed they mustve didnt really have too much to go off of so they kinda just made alot of shit up to spice the story up😂 going off RDR1 most them mfs didnt exist cus they werent part of the universe yet and were never a character
RDR2 is easily their best game. GTA 5 was great for its time, but RDR2 took shit to a whole new level. It was one of the few games that went beyond my expectations. WAY beyond my expectations.
This game teaches you how to breathe again. Let me explain: How Many times have we all rushed through a game, without REALLY stopping to enjoy the moment? How many times have we loved a game, only to admit to ourselves we were a bit disappointed some time later? This game forces you to stop, and ENJOY. You may not like the slow movement in camp, or the pace at the beginning, but that’s on you, not on rockstar. They knew exactly what they were doing, it just comes down to opinion. This game is nothing short of a masterpiece for me. Is it perfect? No. But I have never been so hyped for a game and had it pay off like this. 99.9% of what I wanted it to do, it did. Will this game be remembered for its clunky shooting? I don’t think so, I think it will be remembered for it’s story, characters, design, and reminding us all to stop, look around, take a deep breath and enjoy the art form that is video games.
They tried to address the criticisms of ludonarrative dissonance (no I am not making this up) where player's actions conflict with character development and the story being told, by not making shooting people and creating mayhem so damn fun. I mean, even in the first Red Dead Redemption when I go back and play it do I stop to enjoy the scenery, atmosphere and the sense of place? Nope. I bring up my explosive rifle and start blowing shit up lmao.
Cutter Elf Yh for me the npc reactions where amazing aswell as euphoria engine, however the game massively punished me for being a criminal. Don’t get me started on the witnesses
Completely agree. Although I never understood the rant about the cluncky shooting. I personnally love the way the guns feel, the ragdoll, the bullet wounds, the animation and most of all, the crosshair (a simple dot is the best crosshair you can have imo).
As far as your comments on John going after Bill and Javier in the sequel making John into less of a clear cut hero. You have to remember that John isn't going after them to get revenge or fulfill some personal vendetta, he's being forced into it. If he had it his way he would just as soon leave Javier and Bill alone. In the first scene of rdr1 john is basically pleading with bill to come peacefully. And he can't even bring himself to shoot Dutch. People often forget that at no point during the first game, does John show any need for revenge or even redemption. He often talks fondly of the gang and his past. So I think John was never a clear cut white hat hero.
Ethen Millard yeah but he gained his redemption after helping people across the map, such as Bonnie when she got kidnapped, getting West Dickens out of trouble numerous times, helping Luisa and her family, etc. and finally returning home and being a good family man that would result in him sacrificing himself to give his family a peaceful life as he knew with his death they would no longer be chased. He doesn't consider himself as a hero similarly to Arthur. They both know they're bad men that can't escape their sins, with both of them trying to become better, even when they both know that can't change who they are. I feel like now a lot of people are sleeping on John now that Arthur has been passed on the torch, but they're both amazing characters with different backgrounds and similar views on their past defining who they are
no he was an anti-hero. he was working for the government and killing his old friends to safe his family. His actions are understandable and very relatable but in no way is it heroic.
@@SerpentSupremacy yeah I agree with you. I was just saying that for some reason when people would describe the story of rdr1, they say it's a revenge story or that it's about a man seeking redemption. I would think it would be more accurate to say it's a story about a man who sorta stumbles into redemption. Lol
Ethen Millard yeah as he was only trying to get his family back but then also ended up being a hero to many people, considering if you had maximum fame in the game, everybody would recognize you and compliment you. Kinda reminds me of some anti heroes that don't really care about saving ppl but always end up doing good deeds because they know it's right.
I played RDR2 without playing or knowing what the story of RDR1 was about. Idk how about you but after beating RDR2 and then going on youtube and watch a 5-hour video of RDR1 cutscenes... Made me glad that I didn't play the first game before playing this one, Just being blindfolded and not know who lives and who dies made it just the more emotional.
LK HartlyLion same for me!! tho i got a weird look from my friend who played the first one when i said i worried whether jack was alive when he was taken lol. idk i’m glad i didn’t play rdr1 before rdr2. tho it did mean i had little to no connection w john and now hate the fact i have to play as him after the game rip
I bet it was better, especially in the last mission when Dutch said John was dead and I was like, "no he ain't" would've been way more surprising to see John stumble back to camp after believing he was dead
If you like that. Watch some famous scenes from the film “once upon a time in the west” this game is heavily influenced from the atmosphere and the music in that film. Watch them, epic scenes. And you will recognise very similar parts in the music score.
Yeah, Arthur’s character is more interesting, and his death is more impactful as a whole. To me, it wasn’t his death that was the saddest, it was actually seeing him die little by little. It was heartbreaking to see. No game had ever done that before, at least not in the way RDR2 did. I’d say 60 (Arthur)/40(John)! The game was heartbreaking in many other ways as well, such as reading the letter from Mary in which she explains that her and Arthur would never work out and that she's leaving. She doesn’t even know he's dying either... fuck. Another is with Strauss, where he acts as a loanshark, and in the end you see the lives he has destroyed, which ultimately gets him kicked out of the camp (wish I could have killed him). Then there’s the part where you see John build a home, get married, and begin to live a happy life, while knowing how that all ends. Too much sadness...
That had to be my favorite gaming momment of all time, just riding back to camp with only the sound of hauntingly beautiful music, footfalls of a horse and the night. Jesus. That momment was so awesome
Yea I feel like that Guarma chapter was really random. To be honest they could have cut it all together. The only substantial part about that Chapter is Arthur and Dutches relationship waning.
*Spoiler* I feel like the whole point of the chapter was to isolate Arthur with everyone in the group that he ends up betraying. So arthur slowly realizes how few allies he actually has. I think something like that was necessary for the story, but it feels so rushed because introducing a whole new location takes too long, only to be there for 1 chapter.
Yeah the Guarma chapter was really odd and was probably the thing I kinda hated about the game, you got no horse, you got no guns but they filled the area with wildlife and probably things to find but give you no motivation to do any of those things cause despite it being an open world, the games story at that pointis kinda on a track and you wanna get out of there as quick as possible. It was a very confusing, unnecessary part of the game tbh, they could of done the same thing but not put it in another fucking country.
@@jjdude00 That's the obvious tell. If you even hang around a bit you hear the talking about just not going back. Guarma showed Arthur he was not among friends anymore. Also the return shows proof of a rat in the group.
Personally I felt like this section of the game would have been a good opportunity to allow the players into the western side of the map (New Austin), which seemed like an absolute wasted opportunity in terms of potential story missions to take place there - and yes i know it will be used for online, but again, it just seems like a wasted opportunity to, at the very least, change up the scenery from basically just grassy plains and forests that cover most of the map in New Hanover. Guarma in my opinion just did not fit in the game whatsoever, with me using cannons and stopping an attack on a fort on a tropical island. I felt like i was playing a different game with a much less interesting story that did not keep me engaged whatsoever. I honestly believe they could have made it that the gang got split up as did they after the bank job in the main game, but instead of sneaking onto a ship, they maybe snuck onto a ferry or something which ended them in blackwater or another port, by going down the river that splits Mexico and America in the first game, which they would then travel further into the west and new austin. This would have given, me at least, a smoother and less drastic change in scenery from the grassy plains and forests in New Hanover to the jungles of Guarma, which felt like it did not fit the game at all, in exchange for a real dessert and western feel to the game which i thought was kind of lacking in rdr2 - and consequently, not a part of the game i would try and rush through just so i'd be able to leave the area. It also could still uphold the lore/cannon of the world, as it would still explain why why John never visited Armadillo and stuff before the events in rdr1 because he was arrested at that time during the Saint Denis bank job. Further, it would give the player more of a reason to actually go and kill those animals exclusive to New Austin and discover the map there which i had pretty much no reason to once the game was over, and hunting the new animals there post game felt just as pointless because of the end game money you receive once beating the story. By doing this it would have actually had the group travel out west, which the gang members, and arthur himself in dialogue and his journal had said they wanted to do throughout the game and leave the east (New Hanover) - which a lot of the time i was expecting to do because of this, which resulted in my expectations being cut short and like i mentioned before, i felt like there was so much wasted story potential there. It feels a lot like the rdr1 map was either an after-thought they threw in after they had basically wrapped up the story in New Hanover, which would explain why you only have a handful of missions within that side of the map (which is realistically not even that much into the map being only black water, tall trees and the canyons in the top right of the new austin map), or, planned main missions, side missons etc were cut from the area in order to allow the Online portion of the game to offer something engaging and an big reason to play the online mode - something actually significant to do in that side of the map! Well thats my thoughts anyway, this took a while to write to drop a like!
I still don't understand the people complaining about the controls, realism over practicallity, slow-walking, etc. I found all of those things really good!
@@Wildcard-Jack-47 This better be sometype of joke its a game not real life and not every game is perfect that is just a tiny con in a sea of postives such as amazing graphics, interactive world, and a addctive story , with pollished features im not saying its perfect but its proably the best thing i have played in the past several years
The disco same but I just think it’s bull to call the controls realistic I think it’s bullshit to call any controls realistic you are pressing buttons to do things unless you are commanding a robot in real life it isn’t realistic
I like the shooting, even in free aim, here's why: When you aim at an enemy, the crosshair follows it a bit, which makes it easier to shoot When on horseback, the hitboxes of enemys are bigger, making it easier to shoot them. The deadeye system is fantastic. I barely used michaels power in gta v, yet here i used deadeye pretty frequently.
*"When you aim at an enemy, the crosshair follows it a bit, which makes it easier to shoot"* It better not do that malarkey on PC. Having the game literally mess with your aim while you're trying to aim would be rage-inducing while using a mouse.
Bric Aaron it seems to me that the only people who dislike the shooting mechanics are console players, I only ever used dead eye in close situations or heavily outnumbered
@@robinbrobjer2594 *"it seems to me that the only people who dislike the shooting mechanics are console players"* Hmmm...In that case it sounds like the mouse controls are solid, then. In other words, they didn't just toss-port over the analog stick code and other mechanics.
Not really great, trying to get an item in your hotwheel is a bit of a nightmare sometimes. 15 bounty hunters gunning you down and your L1 decides its not going to work properly. Just a controllers fault really, keybinds are much better.
This is my favorite game of all time now. It beaten The Last Of Us for me. RDR2 isn’t a generic open world game with repetitive side quest, which most open world games are guilty of if I’m being honest. This is the most cinematic, and realistic open world game. This is my GOTY for sure. This comes from a guy that isn’t a open world fan.
Al Waleed Al Khalifa I played the first one a few years after release. I feel the ending is what really made it stood out. It was a good game but kinda overrated imo.
@@Stan-fm1vr Childish I just said that in my opinion Rdr2 has better graphics (obviously) but not better gameplay, character, dialogue etc. That's what I meant. To be honest a whole prequel wasnt badly required but it was entertaining for what it was. 9/10 game but no better than the original.
" it was 8 years ago when i beat the first RDR but i still remember it like it was yesterday ", same man, it's crazy to think that i was only 13 years old when i played RDR1 and here i am at 21 now playing RDR2, i still remember buying the game with my mother and being excited to come home after going to school to play RDR all night, and that ending... What a game it was
Oxycontin man you people are young.. I was even older than you at the time of the release of Grand Theft Auto Vice City.. you were probably a child lol 😂
Small touch but I loved that they did a call back to the line John says when he throws Javier in jail in RDR1 when Dutch and the gang kill the Italian in the Bayou. Dutch says "it is us or him, I figured it might as well be him" and John says "its you or me, the way I see it, It might as well be you"
@@makka9981 American Venom is definetly the best one, especially with the music. I also felt so fucking excited waiting to finally kill Micah and meet Dutch for one last time. I felt like a badass walking up that mountain while chugging snake oil, miracle tonics, cocaine gum, etc. This is game of the century
If all of you learned to stop moving while shooting and running around like it’s an FPS you wouldn’t have this problem with the gun play. LEARN TO TAKE COVER
Frog Glen if you take cover you wouldn’t have this problem. “You should try it or just go back and play an FPS which seems to be what must people are used to. I mean running and gunning is so fun right?”
I'm having an incredible amount of fun with this game. I can spend like two hours hunting animals for the trapper and still be amazed at how good this is. I really don't understand the complaints about the gameplay and how "not rewarding" it is... I've never spent two hours in a game doing basically nothing and still having fun. That in itself is an incredible achievement. No game has ever grabbed my attention that much. If you look at the map, it's empty.... But, when you start exploring it and enjoying the experience without constantly looking for "things to do", you start seeing how it's the most compelling open world of all time and by a large margin. If you don't eat, if you don't hunt, if you don't explore without any real purpose, if you don't sit your ass in a theatre or around a campfire and listen to Hosea for 5 minutes straight... You are missing out on what is Red Dead. I truly feel like if you are disappointed with the game, it just wasn't meant for you.
That is exactly what i was thinking i think ppl are just lazy to mount their horse and start exploring... i always go to ambarino and roleplay like iam in a survival mission of some sort😂😂😂 like i hunt for survival i dont eat food from my stachel its fun for me dont @ me unless its a good comment😂😂
But the series is about Redemption. Hence the title. A character with a cruel and violent past redeems himself. What would that be for Hosea? He doesn't get redeemed. He gets gunned down in the middle of the street as a hostage, shot in the back.
Dr. Loomis yeah i know that saying and also it’s just that when people try to boost their ego or just kinda over analyze too much things and it ends up being bad comments or counter arguments
For 1 journalist site, there isn't an "official" game of the year, and journalists that do give fortnite game of the year, are just trying to ride on the hype of the game to get more noticed, hopefully fortnite will fully die soon enough. Games like it damage the industry.
Tbh i really like Red Deads aiming mechanics. It isnt perfect, but i loved in the original the feeling of quick shots and quick aiming. Aim , flick up, headshot, repeat, felt good to me at least. This game was annyoing when you ran out of stamina XD
I respect your opinion but this game in my opinion has some of the most frustrating gunplay I’ve seen in any game. It makes me sad that they took the fun combat from the first game and scrapped it with a shaky camera and input lag while NPCs have near 100% accuracy in even when your in foliage or bushes when you can’t even see them. I’m probably gonna be accused of playing fortnite for making this comment.
Oh yes, Arthur and Geralt are so alike. But geralt got his happy ending living in Toussaint, Arthur... Well... At leats he died achieving his redemption and for some reason i don't feel bad after arthur passes, i feel like he is in a better place now.
@@guilhermezalla2032 Well, it's pretty simple and easy. That's no much skill involved, learn how to lift up your analog stick to do headshots and you pretty much mastered the game.
@@gannielukks1811 I completely agree with you and people should stop complaining but, there are a lot of people who aren't used to the auto aim and just can't really ever get used to it. My friend, perhaps, he has played the game since release, as have I, and he never could get used to auto aim or dead eye. So, he has used free aim and has used it ever since way back in the beginning of GTAV. I felt bad learning that he never did the story until recently he just started.
I enjoyed the change of scenery but wanted to be able to spend more time there and not just shoehorned into a nonstop chapter that I was married to plowing through at once. And there ought to be a non-hack way to get back there. What a miss by R*.
I like it. But they should have spent more time on it and explained its own story a bit more. All we know is theres a war there so they dont like visitors too much
Guarma needed a more open world attached or just to be one long mission. It left me disappointed as I thought it would include some free roam areas and side quests, etc.. My fault for expecting I guess, but if you go somewhere 'exotic' it feels a bit cheap to rush through it.
@TrueGamerOpinion Not true. The island opens with 2 main missions to choose from. You can free roam and shoot lizards and parrots but not much else. I just think it could have benefited from being more substantial, seeing as you are there.....
Filler? The Guarma chapter showed how Dutch has really gone insane and is just killing people and stealing, how Arthur starts realizing Dutch isn't who he was anymore. It also shows proof of a rat if you don't rush it.
I think that long walk from the beach echoed ‘Mexico’ from RDR1 unintentionally. During that sequence, I imagined that I would start in a free roam island environment and have to find the gang and do all sorts before at some point returning to the mainland. A map as big as Mexico (rdr1) would have been madness but I think the free roam map that there was could have included a bit more, and the initial meeting with the gang and following story set up did feel a bit rushed. This is a minor gripe of mine personally. I love this game and I wouldn’t change much. But this part I would.
It's really bad when in free aim. The lock on is good, provided you adjust some settings. The dead zone and acceleration in this game are odd for lack of a better word.
I'll give my opinion before watching the video: In 20+ years of gaming, RDR2 makes it top 3 at least in my best of all times. The game is beautiful, an epic. A wonderful story, perfectly told, perfectly paced. The graphics are the best yet, for all platforms and generations. The soundtrack is the best of all times. The scenarios are breathtaking. The characters are incredibly charismatic. And the game challenges you. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like since the PS3 came out, games became significantly easier, like an interactive movie. In RDR2, the medal system comes to please everyone: those who just want to enjoy the story, can play without worrying about Gold. Gamers who enjoy challenge, can go for Gold. My only complaint is that some Gold Medal objectives could be better designed, more fitting to the context of the mission. But it's a minor flaw. Arthur Morgan is the best character in gaming world. Before him, my favorite was Sephiroth. Arthur is even better developed. A mix between Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly and Val Kilmer in Tombstone. This is already a classic, and I miss Arthur already. I will definitely get something to remember him: an action figure, a poster, something. I hope we get more games in this franchise.
Spoilers! It's a strange feeling to play the game after Arthur dies. I think that the fact that you play as John makes the tragedy of Athurs death so much stronger. It makes his death feel much more real too and it actualy made me miss him. I didn't play the first RDR but I would imagine that the same applies there. What makes it all even stronger is when you go as John to finish a sidequest that you started with Arthur and the people respond to Arthur's death or when you come up to a veteran that talks about how he met this guy who was the only one nice to him and you know who he's talking about. This all makes me feel things that I didn't expect a game would make me feel. The game of the year for me :)
I haven't read your comment but thanks for putting a spoiler warning at the top. Some other guy already spoiled the ending of the game to me and others by not doing giving a warning
RDR is more than masterpiece. Its even hard to say it on words how good it is. Amazing story, every mission is perfect, when Arthur got tuberculosis and is sure that he die, i was felling im dying too.
I think that one of the main points of the guarma chapter was to have a big set piece in order to make the player think about the everything that just happened and to force the player to be unable to return and check in on the gang. You spend the whole chapter wondering about Abigail and John and wondering what happened to Shady Bell and you have no way to confirm your suspicions
For sure. I spent the entire chapter scared my horse had died and I was having a panic attack wondering what I'd be going back to. Rushed through it just to get back but now wish I had explored things a little more. You should have the option of being able to board a ship and go back after the epilogue though; all that map that's left inaccessible is mad.
I have a theory about why John doesn't hunt down Charles and Saddie in rdr1, and the other members like Person, Tilly, and Mary-Beth. He doesn't hunt down Charles because he goes to Canada and settles down to a normal life, and Saddle while we know she's a killer the Pinkertons might not have. She wasn't apart of any of the major robberies so they probably didn't know much about her since she joined after Blackwater. The other members all settled down to normal lives as well and became productive citizens, but Dutch, Bill, and Javier continued the outlaw life style, and John was shown to have difficulties laying down his guns. Him choosing to go after Micah proves this, and brings Edgar Ross to his doorstep. Who would only be interested in hunting down the people who were still outlaws.
@@cocob0l0 If you think about it. John wasted Arthur's sacrifice by going after Micah for revenge. Arthur wouldn't have wanted that and spent half the game saying "revenge is a fools game" Its his own fault that Agent Ross even found him.
@@jorgizoran4340 The farm was already paid off from John's bounty hunting with Saddie. He's pays it all off just before the final mission, hence why he keeps the 20,000 dollars.
Im probably in the minority but I like auto aim. Read dead is not a good shooter for sure but if i'm being honest I prefer a lack of response than a gittery person on cocaine pov. But I knowledge I am in the minority and for being one of the primary gameplay functions it can be annoying to others.
i didn’t play the original before this one, and i’m actually glad. i felt every twist and turn of the gang’s downfall right alongside Arthur. and when Arthur said “i gave you all that i had” to Dutch and took his last breaths.... man, that broke me.
Did you people watch gameplay video they clearly said they were going for realistic shooting and recoil mechanics and also you don't have assault rifles in this game it's a damn western game lol
I never played rdr1 but from a certain point in the game you could just feel dutch was going to screw you hard in the game. And bc i never played rdr1 i was heartbroken when i found out Arthur died...
James Warden so when you try to talk to someone you just randomly put a gun to their head and when your trying to get on a something you accidentally tackle someone Immersion my ass
@@Wildcard-Jack-47 The gun thing only happened a couple time. and I've never accidentally tackled someone. If those are the only draw backs to immersion than thats amazing
Two big tips that changed my game; save the game before you try something like robbing a store or taking on a gang hideout and legend of the east satchel
The problem with the aiming is that it shakes like crazy when you're in open battle. I think they were going for a "realistic" thing there but it just ends up being impossible to get a good shot in free aim.
another small detail is when the gang is taking sides Javier doesn't fully aim his gun, he's the slowest out of his side and his hand is shaking, which shows that deep down he probably regretted siding with Dutch, and though he was extremely loyal to Dutch he still cared greatly for John and Arthur
Either thats inconsistent writing or you're just wrong... Javier was among the few riders that actually had the chance to save John with Dutch but decided to leave him to die following Dutch. Not to mention Javier's sudden hostility with John after the Sisika Prison break, thinking he's likely a rat. And even during the Beaver Hollow standoff, he initially had his gun pointed in John's direction(when Grimshaw was shot). But then decided to point the gun upwards in the end. Javier may have had his doubts on the other side but it'd be stupid af to say he "greatly cared" for John.
This game is so SO beautiful. The sheer magnitude of the effort that went into this game is simply quintessential, the level of detail is sensational, the game is visually breathtaking, the soundtrack is gorgeous and each piece adds so much to the game. I do agree with every single thing you said, even the flaws, but even with the flaws, this is a game that I won't stop thinking about for a long long time. The story is one of the most beautiful in the gaming industry or even in the entertainment industry as a whole. Arthur's arc is so beautifully done, and so tragic, especially if you know the story of the first one. All the characters are so beautifully written, and feel so real. Characters like Dutch are so complex, but so very well written. That homage to the first RDR in RDR2 when Dutch and Arthur are on the cliff was awesome, Dutch saying the exact same words he did before his death in the first one, it makes you realize that in the end, he actually realizes and means that and makes it so much more impactful knowing his whole story now. I have so many favourite moments from the game. Arthur Morgan is one of my favourite characters in the gaming industry now, and I definitely love him more than John Marston. His journey to Redemption was simultaneously one of the most heartfelt and heartbreaking things I've ever seen in a game. You know it’s a good game when it not only entertains you, but makes you feel happy and sad, laugh and cry, and most importantly the story teaches you a lesson. “Just do one thing or the other. Don’t try to be two people at once”
Such a beautiful game. Would love it if Rockstar remastered RDR to this standard, also making it so RDR2 runs seamlessly into RDR, would be a definite buy for myself even though I already have the original
@@sonnee44 Bruh I was about to say something similar, if they make a remastered RDR and sell it as DLC for those who haven't played it that'd be GREAT, especially for the PC release since there is no RDR on PC
Honestly, RDR 2 is worth it just for the to story mode alone. Honestly, I cried during the ending and liked all the new characters and I liked more of the characters in RDR 1 because of RDR 2, especially Dutch and Bill! It honestly makes the RDR 1’s ending so much more impactful for me than it already has and it honestly makes me wish that I played RDR 2 first before playing RDR 1. Rockstar knew that I had they a potential great prequel and they nailed on the park. Red Dead games is honestly the best example of telling a western story and they’re the main reason why I love the Western genre even though it starts to decline lately but glad that Red Dead Redemption 2 filled the shoes for me and I’m sure for others as well.

The most mindblowing detail was a mission where Mary asked arthur to follow her to find out what her dad is up to, right before she entered the barn i accidentally put on my mask and right before the cutscene she says “arthur put that away, it’s not like we’re going to rob a bank” such a subtle detail but it just blew my mind how the developers saw this as a scenario and implemented it into their game.
i played the mission without bathing and she said "you could've cleaned up before visiting" or something like that. Its amazing

A prequel done excellently. I remember Dutch saying that in rdr but never joined the dots after I finished rdr2
1 step forward 2 steps back, I'm afraid.
Most of what John described the gang and his past in RDR1 was basically retconned in RDR2.
And the scene where Dutch and Arthur jump off the cliff into the lake, he gives the same speech as he did with John before jumping to his death
@dayum son Yup. No evidence of a daughter anywhere in RDR2.
dayum son I guess you could say that he was lying about his past as a cover up.
Charles and Sadie also left the country. Charles went to Canada, Sadie to South America

*slow clap*
Beautifully said, props to you.

American venom and jim milton rides again are my favorites
I personally loved this game more than the first. Also liked Arthur's character much more than John's but doesn't mean I hate John's character though.
Same here
Yeah, Arthur’s character is more interesting, and his death is more impactful as a whole.

Yea I feel like that Guarma chapter was really random. To be honest they could have cut it all together. The only substantial part about that Chapter is Arthur and Dutches relationship waning.
*Spoiler*
I feel like the whole point of the chapter was to isolate Arthur with everyone in the group that he ends up betraying.
@@1983Corolla They should have went with Mexico or the far west. But the point of that chapter was to show Arthur he was essentially alone.

@B Bennett The sheer satisfaction of getting a perfect pelt from a small animal is just impossible to describe haha

But the series is about Redemption. Hence the title. A character with a cruel and violent past redeems himself. What would that be for Hosea? He doesn't get redeemed. He gets gunned down in the middle of the street as a hostage, shot in the back.

I liked the Guarma chapter
Same I thought it was pretty cool

Wait thats illegal
I like it. But they should have spent more time on it and explained its own story a bit more. All we know is theres a war there so they dont like visitors too much
The ending of this game actually brought tears to my eyes, very powerful stuff.
When the guarma mission started I actually thought it was a dream till we saw dutch
I don't think the shooting is that bad.
Neither do I, I find it interesting that people aren't fond of it

It's really bad when in free aim. The lock on is good, provided you adjust some settings. The dead zone and acceleration in this game are odd for lack of a better word.

I'll give my opinion before watching the video:
In 20+ years of gaming, RDR2 makes it top 3 at least in my best of all times.
Gold Medals are not challenging, just a chore and plain boring.
PS3? Ah I’ll let it slide.

J.A Vance Does that mean everything Arthur did, including him dying, for the Marston family, was for nothing?
@@cocob0l0 If you think about it. John wasted Arthur's sacrifice by going after Micah for revenge. Arthur wouldn't have wanted that and spent half the game saying "revenge is a fools game" Its his own fault that Agent Ross even found him.

another small detail is when the gang is taking sides Javier doesn't fully aim his gun, he's the slowest out of his side and his hand is shaking, which shows that deep down he probably regretted siding with Dutch, and though he was extremely loyal to Dutch he still cared greatly for John and Arthur
