About this game:
Everybody wants to rule the world! Now you can play the classic game of Hasbro's RISK online.
This fully licensed version of RISK is coming to Steam.
All purchases carry across to mobile via your RISK account.
Thanks for watching everyone, I had a lot of fun making this one. Appreciate your support, and I think you'll enjoy tomorrow's game too
Risk series when?
I really appreciate all the community interaction you've been doing lately! Thanks for the company.
NL responding to comments on a video, and hearting them? It truly is a new era
I have a sneaking suspicion it’s going to be “The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth” and I’m gonna love it
I'm just glad they made Risk free to play.
So anyone can play it if they are a fan of the board game and it's free.
26:24 "I think we win the game if we stop them from getting the Australia bonus" says the man with control of every other continent and a 20stack of units
Rule #1 - never let them know your true power level
@@Northernlion I hear it's over 9,000
Being an only child myself, I too enjoy digital board games
They hate us cus they aint us
Yo big same, my friend
@@Northernlion Egg dad has blessed us with so much viewer engagement, this is truly magical.
Ive started down the path of some solo board gaming... Something to check out. But yea, i really would love to see more digital board games.
That little story at the beginning is funny, given that I would always be the one taking Australia, while my father gets pissed and forfeits 15 minutes later.
This episode was really fun to watch!
Thank you Bob Bob
Is this replacing EU4 and CK2?
egg bring back the old crew for some risk or we riot
oh how much i'd love to see NL play EU4 again
I found his channel only because of him and aroomba playing that ck2/eu4 campaign. I’d love to see something similar again, but I doubt it will ever happen. Possibly a mini campaign of ck3?
Just kidding...unless
@@Northernlion this could be us but you playin
16:53 "I still wanna screw over blue"
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! Blue has 5 territories and 12 troops, green has THREE TIMES the territories and FORTY troops! You madman!
Tutty! Tutty!
Who agrees this should happen on Tutty?
Oh baby
I often don't win games of Risk, but I'm really good at like advising people on how to win which helps me... Basically we'll be playing Risk and if I ever see an opportunity I'll point out "This player is the strongest and if we don't start fighting them they're going to win" or "You should probably attack this other player and stop them from getting to continent bonus" or "You and me need to stop fighting and work together or else that player is just going to beat you after you beat me"... And I basically give people advice which is honestly genuinely good EXCEPT when it would be to my detriment to advise them... So essentially I am very much the person who focuses on maintaining the balance of power which I think is a good strategy because here is how Risk goes:
1. One player emerges from the beginning really scary.
2. Naturally the other players see this and beat up that person.
3. Someone among those players replaces the scary player as the new scary player.
4. Eventually a scary player gets ignored and wins the game.
As a result, I don't want to allow anyone but me to be the scary player in the game and when I become that and the power is unbalanced in my favor then I want to try and get other people to listen to my advice which maybe is good advice in some ways, but is also misdirecting them from me... Really I just overthink this game/the game theory and whenever I play it it never seems to work out...
But I'm still positive from observing MANY Risk games (basically playing it against myself a bunch before going to high school on a lot of days)t seems like a lot of the time the whole game is about focusing on 2 things... 1. Who is the most powerful. 2. Who is going to be the most powerful after they are destroyed. This can mean making an alliance against the main threat, then breaking that alliance if you are not the one benefiting from it the most. Possibly even then allying with the player who was just a moment ago very threatening... Otherwise you eliminate the old big threat and then just lose to the new one you helped establish...
Though I feel like it's more difficult when the other players aren't thinking for themselves much about what is strategic and they are more basing their relations on things like "Well, this person hasn't really attacked me much this game, so I'm not gunna really focus on them." Meanwhile I'm just like "Betray them! You know you want to! You could totally take out the Alaskans with your Siberian army! Do it before they push through the Ukraine and into Asia!"
"This is a tricky region" *Points at Saudi Arabia*
in Italy we use a different rule that makes the game even longer and tactic: defence can roll 3 dices...
a lot of friendships broke due to this ;)
Parlo italiano, ma non sono molto bene. E difficile per me.
@@symeon5518 italian is really difficult indeed
Nl mousing over the middle East "this is a scary area"
Should have had getting over it in the background and just let bots play
With 50% opacity
I'm saving the real Getting Over It content for...soon....
@@Northernlion Golden Goblet : Getting Over It!!!!
Northernlion restoring my will to live with this comment thank you my good sir
This was already driving me crazy during the stream but... that water animation is terrible.
Just re watching the EU4 series with Arumba and company ....Ohhh How the mighty have fallen. lol
What
He wasn't lying, He is really bad at risk 😂
Arumba: I am not going to attack green.
Also Arumba: Kills green next turn.
Nothing like playing cards with friends all night only to come home to an absolute banger of an Enelle™ short film. Love it.
I wanna see NL play Risk again after watching lud today
I’m stoked that you’re playing this! I’ve been playing this on my phone for a couple years now, and I’ve never played enough to warrant the need to buy tokens or the full game 🤷🏼♂️
I didnt know this game was coming to steam :O I'm so happy lol
This game is so much fun but I hate the tokens.
@@Dedjkeorrn42 You can always buy it for the price of the average indie game, you can treat the F2P version like a Demo, which is great IMO.
@@bemo_10 And NL put it well, anyone playing more than one full game of risk every day should probably just buy the game anyway
I love risk! Especially with friends. Our only rule is NO phones allowed, we have a few drinks and just have a good time in general.
Just fyi, NL said "The defender always has an advantage"
That is factually incorrect. Attacking with three dice into two gives the statistical advantage to the attacker. So in doubt, you want to be the one attacking.
I bet you're fun at parties.
Except he was talking about a 13 v 7 battle as you can clearly see, so he was not wrong
Yes, but ties go to the defender
@@IBlack04 No need to be so negative imo. I find this to be a pretty interesting trivia about the game, and knowing it made me change how I play. Thought some people would appreciate it. NL did too it seems.
@@cptKamina Wow 3 dice beats 2? Galaxy brain trivia right there.
*NL with 4 continent bonuses* I think we win the game if we stop you from getting the australia bonus
Looks like a cool game. Not to mention it’s free. I’m definitely getting it!
Beautiful! Excited to have this back in my life!
2 things 1 this game has bin out for a LLLOOONNNGGGG time 2 You can make alliances in this one wen u do no one is told about it u can do this via clicking or taping the persons pic on mid right
Wait....he just said they played an hour and a half of this on the NLSS yesterday....there is no NLSS VOD on youtube. Trying my best not to riot....
There's always Twitch VODs brother PepeHands (but for real I'm moving it over tonight)
@@Northernlion my Internet is sub optimal and youtube tends to run better for me. Thank you for the fast reply and years of content
I think Risk Factions is a more fun version, also available on steam
I like how he calls troops armies. Reminds me of Caesar's Legions
Why is it so satisfying to see NL steamroll through the AI in risk?
Awesome
Your dad's a chump, Australia is the Baby's first Risk version of a Big Brain Play..
Yes I love risk!
Would love to see New NL play some good old Paradox strategy games, whether classic CK2 with the crew now that its free to play or something like Hoi4 but Perhaps NL wouldn't want to feature 1930s germany in a vid.
I have never played Risk before, or seen it played.... THIS RULES, MY DUDE!!!
NL, literally got this game less than a day ago and you're already playing it.
I would like to see more of that please
I've been watching nl for many years and i feel like an idiot for asking this, but it's bugging me so much , what does his game name mean? (Ho borvat) is it a code? Does it have a meaning or is it just random ?
Bo Horvat is a Vancouver Canucks player
@@ivangorin7590 ohh so that's where it's from. thank you very much!!
Please throw this on Tutty. I wanna see the NLSS world war.
Thanks for being straight up with me, NL.
he do be wheelin doe
The end of that game was so satisfying
This was awesome. Just recently have been getting my wife into board games. May pick the og!
Egg takes over the world
This looks identical to the free to play mobile game, for those who want to play this on the go.
OH BABY!
Dad, why do you keep ignoring us an only playing video games instead...
Don't you love us?!
You sure you're not thinking of SimpleFlips?
Please try the Boardgames "Scythe" and Twilight struggle - they both have fantastic digital adaptations out on steam
New Channel update: this is now strictly a board game youtube page
i'd watch more of these....
28:06... Honestly between this version and Risk Factions and this free to play version I would rather spend the $10 on Factions which has both the classic map but also maps where controlling certain points gives different bonuses like the ability to flood a certain area wiping out most the units, or the ability to launch a nuke... So basically has the original version of the board game plus alternate modes as well. It has somewhat mixed reviews because aparently a handful of people had freezing and crashing issues, I never ran into those issues but that's the one downside to PC gaming is because of all the different hardware and drivers and what not configurations a game may run perfectly for one person but crash every 30 seconds for the next person over.
I was gonna make an eu4 joke but it hurts too much.
You mentioned that you collect tokens at the rate of 1 per hour. Is that something that has to be activated? I'm currently not getting any & haven't since I installed the game a week ago. Maybe it only applies to certain platforms, or it's something that's no longer active. I noticed this video is almost a year old.
Have you tried Risk; Urban Assault?
Is there a colorblind setting?
Series this, it's quality content.
I was a little off put by the currency mechanic at first, but $12 for the full game is totally reasonable.
Is blitz actually the same? On stream it looked like it had different effect.
honestly it looks like blitz is doing every dice at once instead of the 3v3 that evens the odds a little
Can we appreciate how ridiculously bad NL is at this game? Leaving North America vulnerable and making both players fight him?
Is this a Risk free board game?
No, there is a chance of catching chlamydia.
Yo which NLSS VOD do they play Risk in?
This game has been on moblie for along time
The lack of secret mission cards in this version of RISK is bit meh imo.
To each their own, classic is best imo
@northernlion digital Twilight Struggle playthrough when?
Uff, why this game is not available in Italy🙄
Katya in the thumbnail tho
I think small world is better with the same feel ask risk.
Personally, I think GF9's Dune is similar, but much better.
Andrew King the weight of those I think are different. More things going on in dune. Fun game but small world is more accessible and straightforward.
nice vid
I'm too cuh niggah
Does he know how to blitz dice? When its 15 vs 1 blitz is faster and 100% win
Northernlion Tries Rain World when??
I could've swore he already did?
Edit: Huh, guess not. Who did I watch!?
NL PLEASE GO BACK TO CIV 6
Gg
Is this paid promotion?
The AI is so bad in this video...
This is a game build for multi player, not playing online is pointless.
risk is a bad board game and you should not play it
this ai is REALLY bad. fuck that was frustrating to watch
you are not that good at this arent you ? ^^u
PLAY ROCKET LEAGUE NL
he used too back when it came out, and it was on the nlss a bit.
He did, *a lot* of it, just search, it was a mainstay on the NLSS back in 2016.
Yo this looks like the worst game he has played yet XD
Are you out of your goddamn mind?
It’s fun as fuck
