Great video! I love Factorio and 1 tip I could give you is build radars. Radars do 2 things one is they automatically explore the black edges of your map out to a maximum range and also permanently render a 7x7 chunk around them on your map. Which allows you to open your map and scroll into it and be able to see exactly what is going on even when you aren't there. They are very helpful as the factory grows and you are out building and exploring to check on the factory and see if any problems are occurring. Also good for the outposts to see bug attacks. I hope this helps a little bit and I cant wait for part 2!
@@FloydsonYT I would also recommend getting oil for your base, rockets and flamethrowers would be much more effective for military at the time, but you need it for chem science, so it's gonna happen anyways. And when you get chem, rush bots, because you just can't stress enough about how important they are.
@@lucasellis183they definitely need oil for science, but their biter settings are so low that flamethrowers really don't matter. They could easily hit space science with just turrets.

Something about Factorio really appealed to me. I figured I’d give it a try and when I did, was quickly overwhelmed and stopped. After some time, it drew me back in and it’s basically taken over my soul at this point.

been wanting to play factorio for a while now but the energy between you and your wife is really cementing the idea, you guys are the cutest together lol. really made the whole experience less stressful 😂
Quite fun watching you both play together, for a while it looked like Sah was doing all the real work while you focused on your research hobbies. I try to say that if you had to be good at something to enjoy it, karaoke wouldn't exist, but I guess it's still hard to put yourself out there on the internet. Thanks for the video.
Ive watched a lot of “I played 100 days” videos but it is only yours I would rewatch all the time. I think you’re the absolute best. Keep up the good work
As a veteran factorio player (and dabbling Pyanodon's mods masochist) I love seeing people's first (in a while) run of the game, I have long since mastered most mechanics and easily fall into a pattern when building the same thing for the thousandth time so this janky haphazard overbuilt spaghetti is a refreshing throwback to my first builds. Cherish these moments, they're the best hours of factorio you will be chasing after like crack. I'm not gonna spoil what you should do with oil but you might wanna setup extraction and refining soon if you're already getting big biters and spitters, the more nests you destroy, the higher the evolution factor gets (what determines the size of the ugly cockroaches). I hope you will indulge us with 200 days and beyond videos.
The differences between your playthrough and mine are stark. I focused on the logistics of train lines, while forgetting to maximize my throughput. I spent a good 6 hours working on trains and stations. I figured out eventually what Sah suggested: _Two seperate lines!_ I see why people, now including myself, love this game.
I love how factorio boils down to two types of players. Those who are getting distracted while trying to get things done and those who defend those who are getting distracted while trying to get things done. Also, the labs don't really have a fixed consumption speed. It depends on the research you've selected.
Its always terrifying to first step out into the light, I can only imagine how overwhelming it is doing it with this large of an audience. Would love to see more combo couple day 1 to 100 plays! Those moments of "I'm a dingo!" had me rolling cause Ive done that same thing with factorio. I have hundreds of hours and I still do this. Got to get her one of those mics you got. Hers isnt too bad but its like two steps up from xbox live deep fried mic. Speaking of which what mic do you have? Mine is now one step above xbox live deep fried.
Seeing you get to big biters without even having started on the path to getting flamethrowers is nerve-wracking. I have never gone past medium biters without entirely replacing my gun turrets with laser/flamethrower and watching this video, I feel entirely validated. Also pro-tip : killing a spawner increases the evolution of the biters. Clearing nests should only be done if they're in the way of something you want, or if you're so far ahead you can easily manage them. You're in a desert, there's nothing to absorb your pollution but other nests further ahead anyway, you're just antagonising them.
As someone who felt like they couldn't get into factorio due to creating spaghetti tracks, this vid made me want to play it again, so thanks to both of ya for reinvigerating my addiction.
Embrace the spaghetti, it'll work well enough, worst case scenario you can just use the output of your janky mess to make a slightly better mess with what you learned from it.
Honestly for approaching a complex game like factorio your wife did a great job! She noticed a flaw in your defenses, which is why having a set of fresh eyes to look at things is useful. Total gamer win on her part there!
interesting tid bit: - you can daisy chain steam engines and so do boilers, no need to waste pipes like you did :) - single boiler powers several steam engines - at a power plant always accumulate ample of coal in boxes for rainy day - at some point you shall have solar panels, which can save you during a day in a pinch - science research can be queued up.
I love the role reversal on the stereotypical husband/wife trope of you being essentially a housemaid while Alyssa being the military might of the whole operation! Keep up the good work mate and I'd love to see more Factorio with Alyssa being the long arm of the law.
The basic assemblers have a .5 crafting speed, so it takes them twice as long to craft something. For instance, when you said you were making 2 science per minute, you were really making 1. Edit: I myself didnt realize this until over 600 hours ingame btw.
I have been watching RUclips videos since 2012 and I mean it when I say your videos are by far some of the best. When I see you uploaded a new video I feel like a little kid on Christmas. Thank you for the amazing content!
That's so cute that she joined! I know playing games with my fiance is always a good memory - even if he's way better then me I love that she still tried!
My friend used to play this game so much, im not a strategy type player (if thats the right genre). But anything you upload is brilliant, thanks for my bedtime video again!
I'll expect another 100-300 days of Factorio when they release the MASSIVE space update! Play more games with Wife in it! Maybe she can always join at certain intervals like 50 days so we can see you teach her yet learn together!
So for every newbie to Factorio, there's two things that can really ease you into the game. - Play in a forested starting area (rerolled map seeds), trees absorb heaps of pollution so there's fewer biters. Deserts are an unintended hard mode in the beginning, as there's basically nothing but biter bases to absorb your pollution. - look up a basic bus design, spaghetti feels easier for the first 1 or 2 hours but then you quickly run into issues with expansion and it complicates your first playthrough.
My fiance and I are also doing gaming channel together, so it's super cute and encouraging to see you guys so happy and working so well together. It make the happy brain juice.
some tips if you plan on making more vids on factorio 1. idk if you know this but you can connect the steam engines to each other 2. flamethrowers op for defense 3. you might wanna look up some belt balancers since you are using trains they are belt set ups that as the name implies balances them for example you can feed 4 belts into 5 belts and get them evenly spread 4. trains can be complicated you should probably make at least a double track so there aren't 4 trains going back and forth on the same track 5. again 1 idk if you know but ur car has a gun on it you can use that for drive by shooting 6. lastly and probably most importantly make enough circuits if you think you have enough triple that amount and still you probably don't have enough but its a start
Me n the wife love playing factorio together, one thing for both of you really: there is no wrong answers only spaghetti in factorio, play away and have fun expanding your factory!
Totally here for another 100 days of this. Factorio is one of those rare games that comes along and literally defines a genre, and from that point forward, every other game in the genre is compared to it and described using it. "Satisfactory? It's first person Factorio!"
Fantastic video, as a more seasoned Factorio player its really interesting to see how stressful the game actually is for most people! And what a difficult start too, deserts are no joke. You both are managing so well under those conditions!
I'd love 200 days, potentially even 300 days if it's just as enjoyable as this first video. After watching this, I'd love to see you play Dwarf Fortress!
As a Factorio player, some of these setups are a little painful to watch, but overall the factory is well done. We all have our spaghetti bases and we all learn and discover in our own way. Desert is one of the harder maps to play on as the lack of trees means pollution spreads far with no trees to suck it up. The biggest mistake made was jumping directly to a full smelting array before any automation was set up. Having 48 smelters and 96 inverters consumes way too many resources that just sits and does nothing because nothing is consuming the output. If you were to start another game, I'd suggest a simple 6 furnace array to get started and expand only when the output doesn't meet demand. Two hints I'll also leave. 1. Your car has a gun on it. Feed it ammo and you can shoot while driving around. 2. Look at the recipe for Military science again. Each process produces 2 units so for 2 a second you only need 10 factories. You have twice the factories needed to meet that.
this game always amazes me with its complexity, hats down to your wife for managing to get into it and keeping up with you (despite the breaks) as a casual gamer
All I can say to your two is what I say to every new/new-ish Factorio player: The only wrong way to play is to not have fun. Sure a lot of programmers, and engineers, and just generally smart people play the game; but it doesn't set any bars. We're here to have fun.
I'm so happy your wife joined! She did amazing!!! I have wanted to play this game for forever but never have, but seeing the both of you working together inspires me! She's a great gamer
Great video. Removing that 30s max wait time and adding a limit of 2 trains per station(you can set that limit for each station) will help a lot with your trains, like they are now, too many trains are trying to move around half empty wich makes things way harder for no good reason. And the limit of trains per station makes it so that even if a train is full, it won't go to unload if 2 trains are already there, this way you won't have problomes with too many trains blocking the tracks while waiting.
37:40 your wife singing seagulls! Stop it now. Is an instant win. Truly a banger. She's a quality gamer and I commend her willingness to join the madness that is factorio.

"You're the biggest dingo I've ever met" is the most adorable and most Australian thing I've ever heard in my life.
I'd love 200 days, potentially even 300 days if it's just as enjoyable as this first video. After watching this, I'd love to see you play Dwarf Fortress!
First video of yours I've ever seen.
Entertaining.
I am officially convinced I want this game... When I'm no longer severely broke
Always love it when a spouse joins in enthusiastically with a YT player! Sah did great and the two of you together was marvelously fun.
Definitely want a 200 or even 300 days of Factorio! What a satisfying game to watch
"defense on the north" the game of thrones reference was really good. it made me liked the video, good one mate
Great tips TY! And the 2 military science packs per has done me dirty I totally missed that haha
As a casual gamer girlfriend myself I loved seeing your wife! She’s now my favorite gamer! ❤
Oh hell yeah, I love that 100 days has come to Factorio as well! And Alyssa is doing wonderfully too!
Good work Sah, you being a part of this play through only made it more enjoyable ❣️ love this content Floydson, keep it coming
So refreshing when miss wife joined
I was getting stressed on Floyd Floydson playing alone
this game always amazes me with its complexity, hats down to your wife for managing to get into it and keeping up with you (despite the breaks) as a casual gamer
All I can say to your two is what I say to every new/new-ish Factorio player: The only wrong way to play is to not have fun.
Sure a lot of programmers, and engineers, and just generally smart people play the game; but it doesn't set any bars. We're here to have fun.
honestly having anyone that'd willingly play factorio and not puke at the complex machinery spaghetti whilst being nervous is a big W
I'm so happy your wife joined! She did amazing!!! I have wanted to play this game for forever but never have, but seeing the both of you working together inspires me! She's a great gamer
It's nice to see couples share common interests and play video games together. You're one of the few I've watched so far. :)
THE GRAVEYARD KEEPER GUY PLAYS ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES. I'm all here for it ^^
It's wonderful to see your wife enjoing the game with you, also she adapted fast
37:40 your wife singing seagulls! Stop it now. Is an instant win. Truly a banger. She's a quality gamer and I commend her willingness to join the madness that is factorio.
this was rather refreshing to see. But i was frantically panicking and pulling my hair out when i saw the power set up. Great vid tho keep it up!
