Between the darkness of the grey and the matte finish that helps a little with clarity of what you see, maybe the darker colour also reduces light transmission in the layer as it is exposed, giving less bleed into adjacent pixels?
Absolutely worth it to use an 8K resin, even if you are using a 4K printer, or 6K, or whatever...the numbers these days. Any way great vid, got my sub. We swapped from ABS and Standard+ materials which claim to be 8K capable, but the DLP craftsman material is so much more detailed in it's results. It's amazing, this is nice as well. Might have to try this one.
Great video. I found it better than your other 8k resin one. I can def see several points where detail is better, and I love that, BUT as a 5e person, that added brittleness is hard to ignore. Thanks!
It would be interesting to see how those subtle detail differences play out in painted minis. Whoa! You mentioned mixing resins at the end. Mind blown.
Might have to do some follow up videos in the future to see how well it really shows up. The fact that I use speedpaints would probably benefit from the added detail a lot, but I shall have to find out.
Guys, currently looking for a reliable durable resin for mini printing straight from the bottle, no mixing. Mix of Siraya Fast and Tenacious 80:20 is no good, minis get brittle over time and break easily when dropped from gaming table. I've heard a lot about TGM-7. Any ideas?
My go to is still Elegoo ABS like resin. It's not perfect with super rough play, but I've dropped a fair few and given them a knock, and so far I've been happy with them.
what settings do you use for this resin on your saturn 2? I have a saturn 2 but seem to get a moderate amount of print failures yet exposure test show my exposure time is bang on
Biggest thing I changed on mine was exposure time to 3.5 seconds. It’s higher than the standard recommended but it stopped me getting a stupid amount of failures.
@@GrayScalpMiniatures Do you have any good setting for the Saturn 8K... I have found some for the Saturn 2, but I got 1 good print and almost a good one for my second try, but one part was missing on the miniature
Can I paint such fine detail? - No :D So no benefit to me. Does it break more easily? Yes :D Next! haha Thank you for the review. When it comes to minis I'll trade detail away for durability all the way
Now people have to scratch their heads over high speed resins vs 8k resin. There are no high speed 8K resins. In Australia the best deals are always for Anycubic resin so your location will effect your choice also.
So many factors to consider, like size, ventilation, how much time you'll spend in there. I wouldn't recommend having them in a place you're going to be in for a large amount of time.
@@GrayScalpMiniatures yea i was looking into getting a exhaust pipe and extractor fan to go out my window, but i still do spend most of my day in that room i was thinking of putting it in, so not sure if it’s still a good idea after what you said about spending time in there

I do enjoy the added quality of this resin. I think for larger units and prints I’ll be using the 8k resin.
Been enjoying using my Sunlu Standard resin, the prints are quite flexible as well!
Sunlu the best. Wish I got one of them saiyan printers I bet it's sweet!
Best video going over the benefits and drawbacks of the resin. Where did you get the Superman bust? It's one of the best I've seen.

Yeah the added brittleness is a tough sell for minis that are meant to be handled and played with.

1:10 - Pick up some shop towels. They're the blue paper towels. Fantastic for soaking up messy resins.
I've got some and they're great. Also, baby wipes are fantastic for cleaning and soaking up resin mess.
I get detail like that from my Saturn 4 with standard resin.
Hello!
Thx for the review.
Where is the Superman stl model avalaible?

@@GrayScalpMiniatures cheers i will give it a try, did you have to alter lift speed at all?
What would be the best resin for Elegoo 8K printer... ?
My personal go to is Elegoo ABS like resin if you’re printing miniatures. It’s good quality, and also more flexible.

Might be a noob question, can I use this resin in a mars 3? Standard grey is out of stock and Elegoo told me to use this resin
Yep you certainly can.

You’re welcome. I’m in the same boat as you. I’d rather have the added durability for my minis.
What settings do you have your printer on for the resin?
Would love to know the settings too...

where that model from
i have this stuff and noticed the same things as you. it is definitely more brittle.
is someone able to have this setup in there room with no problems?
