Game manuals were a very under appreciated medium from the past. They were like a little added bonus to your purchase. It was fun reading all the descriptions within, it made you form somewhat of a closer bond with the games in a weird way.
Unlockable characters in games are the thing I miss the most for sure. It’s very rare when playing the story mode for something unlocks anything nowadays in action or fighting games. Unlocking characters use to make for so much conversation for each other and honestly helped games live longer. Now you pull out the wallet to unlock characters and costumes
@@TheSultan1470 Well sure, but what I mean is most content that would have been unlockable the gaming generations pre ps3/360 are behind paywalls. Look at something fighting games, plenty of unlockable costumes, characters, stages etc., in newer games, you have a season pass with content that has been finished way before they even released the game.
The MAIN thing I want personally is cheats back. It shouldn't be that hard unless it's an online game So I'm glad the G here talked about it . Hands up for our God and Zilla
Unlockables were king, it lead to you having to push yourself beyond your limits to unlock an item or character, you felt proud and amaze of having to complete such challenges, let alone get 100% in a game. Now most of the time it's just achievements or dlc...
One thing I never understood why it ever got removed was population counters like just tell me how many people are on playing this game and what modes are populated
Your argument about Demos only works if you look at the AAA space. Other than that, I'd say we're seeing the resurgence of demos thanks to events like Steam Next Fest.
The thing that I miss the most is definitively polishing. You can tell that game devs aren’t putting in 100% because they know they can patch bugs and glitches now. But before hand you needed to make sure everything was perfect. It’s lead to so many hyped up games being buggy messes at launch and then lead to the games dying
Extras (concept art, usually) have been slowly making a return in more recent video games such as the Paper Mario TTYD remake and Persona 5 Royal, and I hope to see more of it in the future, than just being restricted to social media or portfolio site-exclusive stuff.
I really miss the manuals that we used to get they are always a great read and I read them everywhere even on the toilet but now they’re gone which is sad because it was real artistry at work there and also split screen gaming Especially now that I have a little nephew that wants to game But it seems to be the only way now is to buy Amazon system which is costly at least we still have the good all days for now😢
Also one thing I miss being able to put the disk in and just play the game, I don’t see why physical games need to download, digital understandable but physical is just ridiculous
This was more of a trend than a feature, but in the late 2000s/early 2010s, it seemed like most games that came out during that time seemed to have some sort of tacked on multiplayer. Examples include Tomb raider 2013. Dead space 2. Bioshock 2. The darkness. Mass effect 3. (Tho, it's pve survival.) Max payne 3. spec ops the line, and Assassin's creed brotherhood. Wonder what it would be like if that continued.

I remember the magazines that had xbox 360 demos. Nice video as always. 👽👍
I REALLY love your thumbnail. Its actually got a hidden meaning . See the mastercheif represents you since you wear his helmet in your profile pic And the purple background represents saints row. So the subtle meaning suggests that You are so heartbroken by the state of the saints row series right now. Great thumbnail right here. Loved the video man. 🫡
Probably because there really isn't much to innovate anymore. The last game you could probably count was MW19 with animation and maybe Gunplay, and that was almost 4 years ago.
The WWE games had one thing it lacked since 2K18... Custom Entrance Themes. The last time we got this was in WWE 2K17..... On PS3. It was a pretty popular fan request for the games, next only to GM Mode (which did return as MyGM in WWE 2K22), and many people wanted that feature in the game, and we got the ability to import custom images into the game, and even having custom portraits in 2K22, so why not have custom entrance themes? And why not import custom videos to accurately make a custom show feel like what you can see in a WWE show like Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown??
Developers don't have fun anymore that time besides it being an art form, I think the "business ideal" and how to make the most profit from consumers has ruin many developers far and in between. I think most Devs worry will it make a profit to pay everyone off than having fun making a game.
Cheat codes are my biggest problems, not only are they becoming rare, they're either the Konami Code doing something minor, or simply nothing unique. The biggest culprit, GTA V has a lot of lackluster cheat codes. Most of them are simply used to summon certain common vehicles, while the rest have been heavily watered down. The invincibility cheat lasts for a useless 5 minutes at a time, and the fun ones like skyfall almost lead to a quick death. Only a handful of them are fun such as exploding bullets, high jump and quick running, but you would wish you had things like infinite ammo, bonus money in a game where the cool stuff are expensive, or flying cars. Don't get me started on how cheat codes can get disabled in missions.
There's a reason I stick to old games because it feels like its become way to corporatized and soulless but anything that makes money is eventually gonna become that
Same with me I used to play Halo 3 with friends and minds We used to stay awake up to 4 or 3:00 in the morning And we will go to McDonald's and buy cheeseburger
Top missing things in modern games: 1. Focus on fun, not on monetisation 2. No boxes, without solution and instructions. 3. You don't own games anymore. Ps. Volition is still owned by Embracer.
To be fair disc demos are a thing that is best left in the past. The waste created from discs is huge and we don’t need demo discs adding to that, especially if the person actually goes on to buy the game, you’ve created twice as much waste.
I remember back in the early 1990s His toys R rose had a whole bunch of demos for the nintendo 64 And a lot of those demos are really expensive now turok 2 That's one of the most expensive rear Because a lot of these demo games that were in stores or have to be thrown away or given back to Nintendo
I'm pretty sure it is Halo infinite but they're actually is Split Screen Co-op it's just weird cuz you have to glitch the game in such a way for local Co-op to work it's just a really strange glitch basically in the game they just don't let you use it
I'd much rather play my suspicious clearly stolen before I bought it duke nukem forever copy than whatever the hell cod wanguard or fortnight is (It has a marking of a video store that was in my town when I was younger that only rents) I still miss old gaming like the ps2 days.
Working games on release... Even games I enjoy and work good today have been tainted by their awful release. Cyberpunk is a good example of that, the game would have been amazing if it would have release in the state it's in now but sadly more and more game developers are using patches and updates as a crutch or to make a quick buck
Saints Godzilla listen to this look at saints row dates on fandom and look at the dates around all the games then look at the first beginning cutscene with the officers talking conversation and look at the date did saints row 2 take place first?

I miss the notes sections
Me ma would write the puzzle solutions there

So I'm glad the G here talked about it .
Hands up for our God and Zilla
Replayable missions. It sucks being forced to start a new game in order to play a specific mission
I'm glad you're expanding beyond Saints Row content. It's great to see varied content from you.
That voice could talk about cabbage and id listen
A game feature I always admired was customization. I always found myself changing clothes when I got a chance
Unlockables were king, it lead to you having to push yourself beyond your limits to unlock an item or character, you felt proud and amaze of having to complete such challenges, let alone get 100% in a game. Now most of the time it's just achievements or dlc...
Number one answer here. The game being Playable on day one with all the content.
I miss manuals so much, Rockstar games having all those colourful manuals made me so much happy
One thing I never understood why it ever got removed was population counters like just tell me how many people are on playing this game and what modes are populated
The globe from Bo2 multiplayer was so cool
6:10 HULK ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION

1) actually getting the game for the retail price and not having to download extra crap or pray that the servers don't go offline forever
I feel a missing gaming feature is end game rewards or bonus content at the end of the campaign
9:07 War of the Monsters!! 😮
Extras (concept art, usually) have been slowly making a return in more recent video games such as the Paper Mario TTYD remake and Persona 5 Royal, and I hope to see more of it in the future, than just being restricted to social media or portfolio site-exclusive stuff.

I miss these features. I’m glad you covered this video. I miss doing these back when I was a little kid.
Also one thing I miss being able to put the disk in and just play the game, I don’t see why physical games need to download, digital understandable but physical is just ridiculous
I remember the day i knew manuals were going away
I grabbed the manual for a 360 game and it was four pages of controller inputs and health notices
Miss all this stuff, great video dude

2:26 The Club was so much fun, ended up getting the full game because of the demo too
I only know about the game's existence thanks to it being advertised on the manual for Condemned 2: Bloodshot.
I REALLY love your thumbnail. Its actually got a hidden meaning .

Great thumbnail right here. Loved the video man. 🫡
To be honest, I'm fairly certain I did that all subconsciously but I can't unsee it now lol. I'm happy you enjoyed the video :)
@mrsaintsgodzilla21 no. Thank you man. You were awesome here. Glad to see my fellow saints row buddies still making content 🙌
4:37 I'll admit I've done that a few times as a kid. Yeah some manuals were really cool to read through
I miss actual innovation, how many games actually tried something new this year
Well said. Lucky to get anything *very* original these days
Heard Atomic Heart had some interesting stuff, not sure how true that is though
Probably because there really isn't much to innovate anymore. The last game you could probably count was MW19 with animation and maybe Gunplay, and that was almost 4 years ago.
Well, there was Hi-Fi Rush that was released recently and it looks pretty unique.
I gotta give Black Forest games props
With the destroy all humans remakes they kept concept art and with the 2nd cheats and split screen coop
I loved looking at the game manuals.

Mrsaintsgodzilla, lets face it, Volition is a B.S. studio, at least as of 2022.
split screen and cheats are definitely the two I miss the most.
Cheat codes are my biggest problems, not only are they becoming rare, they're either the Konami Code doing something minor, or simply nothing unique.

I know it’s only cod but custom emblems I miss those or customize weapons skins like they had in BO3

I'm pretty sure that the idea that demos are responsable for less sales is biased or even plain wrong. Great video anyway !
Manuals I miss those days Get a new game Or an old one And reader Through the adventure you will have
Game manuals were a thing for gaming and the cheats were also a thing of gaming.
I still have my old Xbox Exhibition demo disc 1 for the original Xbox and my old Saints Row 1 Demo Disc
Oh by the way I wonder if you're going to do a video on Saints Row 1 on PC from God's hands I saw Flipeez video looked awesome
I remember back in the early 1990s His toys R rose had a whole bunch of demos for the nintendo 64 And a lot of those demos are really expensive now turok 2 That's one of the most expensive rear Because a lot of these demo games that were in stores or have to be thrown away or given back to Nintendo

1:38 is that Frontlines: Fuel of War?
yo mrsaintsgodzilla whats the song that plays at the last category? at the coop category the music sounds familiar to me
The song is Peril from Halo 2
First few minutes whats ur backround music?
Can you do best glitches for Resident Evil 4 since the Remake is coming out in 25 days?
#1 Thing missing...Fun
i love splits screen thank god i still have my ps2
Why didn’t you show SR reboot instead of Cyberpunk? Cyberpunk came out 3 years ago while the reboot came out last year and it was buggy as shit😂
Is there a place where the saints row glitch community hangs out? Im interested in some dedicated glitch hunting
I'd much rather play my suspicious clearly stolen before I bought it duke nukem forever copy than whatever the hell cod wanguard or fortnight is (It has a marking of a video store that was in my town when I was younger that only rents) I still miss old gaming like the ps2 days.
1:37 OI! what game is that???? I had memories playing it as a kid and I wish to buy it now 🧐
demos are coming back somewhat with steam next
I definitely miss cheats the most because they are so much fun to do.
Your so close to 100k subs
Does anyone remember the L4D2 demo. that demo is the reason I got L4D2 back in 2011(I think I honestly don't remember which year I got the game)
actually getting a good game
2:26 what is that game? it looks cool.
Couch co-op is gone because we’re old. 😵💫
I cant wait for this video man. 😍
Oh wow! I hope he references my favorite game in this! (Ps it's not saints row 😉)
Fable?
Oh shut your mouth
how much gaming evolved and will evolve your parents still would think its childish and it's "just a phase" - average gamer experience
Driv3r music ❤
But a full game and everything being included
keep making videos on other games i love it
I know one finished and polished games
3:35 game name?
Working games on release... Even games I enjoy and work good today have been tainted by their awful release. Cyberpunk is a good example of that, the game would have been amazing if it would have release in the state it's in now but sadly more and more game developers are using patches and updates as a crutch or to make a quick buck
Mostly games now or just like mobile games To find really good games is really hard
rip gaming
The last three seconds of the video are why I'm a patreon.
Man where saintsgodzilla?
I still remember the anger over Local Split-Screen being canceled for Halo Infinite. Feck you, 343.
Number 0 passion PASSION ITS RARE THESE DAYS
In other news old man yells at clouds.
No
Saints Godzilla listen to this look at saints row dates on fandom and look at the dates around all the games then look at the first beginning cutscene with the officers talking conversation and look at the date did saints row 2 take place first?
“L where is my live service constant update games at?” 🤓
Ok?
This video is so stupid other than cheat codes all these other things are still super common in modern gaming
How about that new dlc huh?!?😂 This dude fell off hard
the commenter 2_sniper has no friends and he won't reply to this so he'll prove my point.
