1:38 - I reached the vehicle, however the light changed before I can talk to the driver.
1:50 - He saw me and proceeded to cut off another moving vehicle, drove up the curb and tried to drive through me.
1:55 - He quickly made a right turn and drove over another curb trying catch me on the other side of the intersection.
2:00 Me panicked and fleeing through neighborhoods, running for my life.
A police report has been filed with Shoreline PD.

Nothing funnier than an aggressive driver that gets held up at a light 15 seconds later.
Makla Bouhlel so you are saying cyclist should not b on the road?
There is something funnier. That is watching an aggressive cyclist getting pulled over by the cops when they think they have the right to cycle through the red light. Happens often.
Kudos to the driver of the white Chevy truck. That person knows how to safely operate his/her vehicle.
The Exploder driver deserves to be in jail for that behavior.
"A police report has been filed with local authorities."
Good! Please update, that's insanity.
I think people like this should have their license taken away and forced to ride 1,000 miles on similar roads on a bike before they can have their license back as punishment. They would have to have GPS logs and video to prove they actually did it. GPS logs would be provided by one of those ankle things people under house arrest have to wear.
I think you have a good idea here.... I think you do... also for the next 5 years he has to ride 400 miles every year through traffic... or else he loses his licence PERMANENTLY ...
I like the ideas both you AND "exodous02" came up with! I cycle at least 10 miles a day, and I never thought of that! It's the PERFECT punishment! Make them do the same thing they were bothering someone ELSE for, ESPECIALLY since it's an 'eye for an eye' type of punishment! You both have SUCH awesome ideas!
A petition should be started or something. . .
exodous02 I would (of course) sign it, and I would get everybody I know, along with anybody they know, to sign it! I'm SICK of drivers thinking they own the road! Albeit, the SECOND they know you're recording them, they become VERY courteous!
I like that idea too......these kind of people needs to taste their own soup, before they get educated!
a good lawyer would get that classified as attempted murder if the cops dont do anything about it (i doubt they would have)
they rarely do anything about it unless someone is hurt
I've had this behavior directed at me. The driver feels you passes him unfairly: you split lanes, jumped on the sidewalk, used the right turning lane. They then catch up to you and take a run at you to teach you a lesson. I confronted one driver about, that's the explanation i got. These people are total psychopaths and belong in prisons only.
The driver held his horn down aggressively when he first passed me, and me catching and filtering was to talk to him while he was stuck at the light, but the signal turned green when I got to the vehicle. Details are in the description, but his intent was run me down, he definitely shouldn't be driving.
He's just mad that the bycyle was faster then his V-shit ford.
I hope the police give this person a huge 'reckless endangerment' ticket and revoke his/her driver's license. please update us.
Reckless endangerment? This is grounds for felony aggravated assault.
Cycle BobD as if
Scary. Not sure I would have chased them down for the offense of a horn, but I understand. One of my rules is not to respond to motorist. I believe it was in Lance Armstrong's first book that he said to not respond when a motorist does something rude. Not sure I believe he does this, but the point is they're driving a weapon and often in isolated places. So I use the Fly 6 and try to keep my feelings in check. Any other opinions cyclist?
Douglas Miller completely agree. As a regular commuter across London (UK), I have the attitude of "live and let live". I give way to motorists and keep over as much as possible. So many "militant" cyclists on the road that cause offense, it's embarrassing. The guy in the car here was clearly a nutcase though. Hope he (or she?) got done.
Douglas Miller he wasn't chasing them, idiot
Your bike sounds mint, silent, crisp shifts and dialed right in.
Wow, this guy must of been having a crap day! Thank God he did not hit you!
Also the rear cam sounds really cool! I was thinking of investing in one next year! I just love how its a light/camera combo. Less gear to lug around/take off/put on the bike!
I have an action cam posted in the rear and it doesn't get near this good of quality, it is a tomtom bandit. I'm also worried it will get stolen so I'm constantly looking at it. This is more stealth but since I put my action cam on I haven't had anyone pass me close or lay on their horn. People are courteous when they are being filmed so it is a trade off.
emotionally disturbed people normally identify themselves very well. I've found it best to just avoid them because trying to talk sense to a maniac only makes it worse.
This is pretty much attempted murder.
It almost seems like he saw the camera and bailed before actually hitting him. Which seems like his intent to hit him on the bike.
I had a worse situation, a guy followed me & a friend up and over a curb and on to a yard. Reported it, but didn't have the license plate and no camera on the bike. Few wks later seen the guy at a pizzeria and was about to beat the shit out of him. Instead took down his license plate reported it to State Troopers, and nothing was done.
He plainly resented you for beating him and being able to bypass the traffic. He thought, 'well, I'll use the sidewalk too!'
Holy shit. Please update when/if anything comes of it. I'd be curious as to how seriously this gets taken.
pause at 1:50 for the tag and report this . . .
I panicked yesterday Monday June 27th too. I'm a woman, 34 y/o 5.4 and slim. I'm cycling back from work and this old guy swerved the car at me and screams that if he sees me again he'll run into me. I took my phone and took a picture of the rear part of the car. I called the police and gave them the licence plate 30 hnk 80 from East Boston Ma. Not sure what they would do but I'm scared of cycling on that street on the next one. those two streets are the only ones that take back and forth from work. This morning it was a van. He drove to close to me and the wheels of my bike where scratching the kerb because he almost hits me. He works for the Local Motion of Boston, he was driving a van which # is 534 and license plate is 37224. He is a Caucasian man in his 60s, tall with white short hair and white beard.
not 30 hnk 80 but 4hnk80
+Donna Bombonatto (earthrawgirl) hey hope that is resolved and you're feeling a bit safer, if not maybe consider organizing a commute group, safety in numbers, and drivers generally become accustomed to it the more cyclists they see
Donna Bombonatto, the main problem I see is cyclists and motor cyclists also tend to ride too nr the kerb, this leaves a tempting space for cars to try to pass with insufficient room, moce out more in the lane, you may hold the traffic up a bit, but once you have a vehicle behind you it acts as a fend off, you must learn defensive riding, relying on the skills / manners of other motorists will get you killed.
If guy tells me that I provoke him and if there is a chance of stopping his vehicle then I'll start yelling and bang his car, maybe break his review mirror or scratch his paint. And I'll tell him off, if I see you driving this street again I'll destroy your face. In that scenario, I'd be more aggressive. I'm a very aggressive cyclist.
Cool fog lights bro.
sorry this happened to you, this is my hood too, and usually people are fairly tollerant
any update on this? I hope you get that guy
I wanna know what happened to that driver.
I wonder what came of this? I can only imagine that the driver was high on drink/drugs or had genuine mental health issues. That's just not normal human behaviour.
Time to file charges on these jerks and then get the newspaper ... RESPECT others
And if he did hit you, what was he hoping to do? Hit and run with a dozen witnesses? What a tool.
Shocking, hope the police took action.
This was the first time you met the driver? What is wrong with some people?
Soooo. What have the police done about this?
Luck
Hope the driver of that black suv gets prison time.
1:40 for anyone after me.
damn! Was this driver prosecuted finally?
Hey Seattle Cyclist... what is the end result or at least thus far. Is the guy getting in trouble? Did the cops agree that it was aggressive driving?
What will the Shoreline Police Dept. do with the report?
1:50 - was this reported?
Just out of interest , did the cyclist mount the pavement/sidewalk as he appeared to , and if so , why ?
Yes, read the description.
this driver belongs in jail and should have his license immediately revoked. (yes, i'm assuming the driver is male.)
Why is it worth pointing out you're assuming the driver is male? You're clearly just trying to start something, who gives a shit what sex they are.
English lacks a concise gender-neutral pronoun, so I had to choose something. Statistically, and backed by psychology, the driver is most likely to be a male, and likely a young male. For example, see: www.sirc.org/publik/driving.pdf
+Gary Yngve That's well and fine, but why do you clarify that by saying "(yes, i'm assuming the driver is male.)"? It's already implied you think that way when you refer to the party as "his".
+Matthew Klippert not necessarily. colloquially, he is often used as a default pronoun that can refer to either gender. i'm just being open that my internal heuristics and biases that help me make quick decisions and keep me alive on the road assume this type of aggressor is male. From my experiences too, only males have gotten out of their cars to threaten me, and 90%+ of people shouting "get off the road/get on the sidewalk" at me are male.
Gary Yngve You aren't as intelligent as you think yourself to be. You came to the conclusion that the driver is a male simply because you are a poor, pitiful beta male.
Due to a lack of injuries it is not likely the police took any action. In addition to the vehicle being identified, the cyclist must be able to identify the driver. Otherwise the vehicle owner will simply state they loaned the vehicle or it was used by a friend/relative without authorization and then refuse to identify the relative. Case closed. It is still a good idea to have a camera. I own both the Fly12 CE and the Fly6 (Fly6 CE on order). I wouldn't ride without a camera now days. Furthermore even if the driver is charged with some traffic offense, any defense attorney worth their salt would subpoena the entire recorded ride and use every single traffic violation committed by the cyclist in defense of their client. So knowing that, it is important to keep only the brief segment of video containing the infraction by the driver.
Is that the law in that state? In Ireland if you wish to claim that you allowed someone else to drive the car, you must identify who was driving it, (or who has access to the keys, and they will each be asked to state where they were at the time) otherwise, you will be treated as if it were you driving it.
Was the driver ever charged? If not, I would do my own investigation in finding out who that driver was and get my own justice. If not give him a beating, one should pour a bag of sugar in his gas tank to keep him off the road. He is going to murder someone in a road rage incident.
Command the Lane , Right & Necessary O/O°
Should have taken that clip...and then left him light in the account...
Same drivers agression everywhwere :(.
I'm the moron for watching this
Any update on the police report? Rageaholics like this should not be on the road.
Do not engage with motorists. Do not try to teach them a lesson, or tell them they are idiots, or they don't know the rules of the road. They already know these things, and really hate being reminded of it. t just makes things worse.
Well what happed to Washington AZJ2895 after this? Anything?
Oops, somebody didn't get their oats this morning.
I thought cycle hatred only appeared in Scotland unfortunately it's universal
What the fuck is that guys problem. The thing is with cuts like that the thing they are hard in a big truck until they get out . Id break their face of someone did that to me
Bet he had to take a Taco Bell poop driving like that!
Did the guy ever get caught
That was attempted murder !
That driver tried to kill you !
Hardly. If that was an 'attempt' to run down a cyclist, what went wrong?
It was more like a bad-mannered attempt to pull onto a forecourt from the wrong lane.
@@bingola45 Really? Would you be interested in buying a 2nd hand bridge by any chance? So, he just decided to skip the kerb, right at the same cyclist he'd unsafely passed earlier while leaning on the horn... 'trying to pull into a forecourt', he somehow turned the wheel again left, rather than right, to again come right towards the cyclist? He hasn't got the necessary skills to be behind the wheel if he can't steer properly. In reality, he was trying to use the car as a weapon, so he should be banned from the road.
@@jimbobeire If he intended to kill that cyclist, he certainly lacks driving skill.
Even a first-time learner could have squashed the twat!
@@bingola45 Probably changed his mind just at the last second, possibly spotted the rear go pro. He certainly wasn't chasing him to give him a high five and a hug.
holy crap! That guy has some serious problems.
I absolutely cannot fathom what motivated that driver to cut off another SUV just to hop up on the curb and try to run over a cyclist who hadn't even interacted with him in any way besides passing him between his truck and the SUV while he was stopped at a light. Bizarre.
because he wasn't trying to run over a cyclist, he was cutting across to turn right. If he wanted to hit the cyclist why did he brake when he came across him.
@@rdrhouse Then why was the driver, up until then, patiently waiting in the left turn lane?
As for not hitting him, he's just a little bully, he can't afford to actually do anything, his self-preservation kicked in when he ralized there are witnesses and that he will be held accountabile.
@@JesupBedumir How do you know what the driver was thinking Josip, i think you're lying about this. It's quite simple Josip, he saw the bike cut across and probably thought that gap is big enough for me, so he cut across aswell, it's easy to work out when you watch the video.
I'm surprised you couldn't work that one out for yourself, but you probably have your lycra on and you're in cycle idiot mode (CIM).
@@rdrhouse You can see in the video that the driver could've just stayed in the right turn lane to turn right, instead of climbing on the sidewalk and intimidating the cyclist.
Cope more Cletus.
@@JesupBedumir in English please
The driver in this video should have their license tooken from them forever.
Was the first horn honking preceded by an exchange or altercation? It appears that it was something that the driver could not let go of, and from your escape to the sidewalk, maybe something you were aware of, as well. I'm just trying to avoid mistakes myself, that might cause a driver who is already on the edge, to pursue this poor, skinny, mountain biker (me).
I wont be surprised if your bike and camera is more expensive than that run down SUV
And did you make any obscene gestures as you passed that douche?
Normally I would say "don't filter" but honestly with all those cars I might have done the same thing. Maybe. But I would not have tried to talk with the driver or even looked their direction. I would have been on my way and likely nothing would have happened.
there is (NO) reason to act like this driver. no matter whether u had a bad day, etc. people need to learn to chill more. he had an issue from the moment he came near. wasnt like sitting behind for ages. just passed straight away and just honking 4 no reason. if he thought that u were in wrong, then he needs to take a good look in the mirror. cutting up the other vehicle and driving dangerous on pavement........erm.........yeah........sure.........that was clearly less dangerous. lol. i hate people who honk their horns tbh. even if its not my fault and someone cuts me up, i just stop. whats happened cant be changed. if u got time to honk, u got time to react. im more bothered about using those split secs to react the right way, rather than sit beeping my horn. lol
This driver was jelous, he still uses tiny training wheels
Any updates?
Ford, license plate number AZJR895.
how to see the video from fly 6 ? any display or monitor on handlebar ?
That wouldn't be a good idea. If you want to see what's behind you, use a mirror or shoulder check. When moving, don't be watching a screen. Set the camera up before riding, and then just load the SD card to a computer to watch it after.
I carry a gun for these kind of people; "Attempted murder with a motor vehicle!" People do so many things like this because there are no consequences for their actions; politicians are a great example of this!
just curious how and where you carry it. under jersey, on bike, etc. thanks
@@samj1185 place a tool bag on your top tube, which can be accessed pretty quickly. Of course, you'll have to have a "super compact." I used to commute in Seattle from the Bainbridge Ferry everyday; got hit twice, on my bike.
I wouldn't dare drive around there now; it's even more crazy!
What did the police do?
I am a seasoned cyclist and watching this, whilst I am annoyed at the original horn, I do feel you must have antagonised the SUV driver 2nd time around. Forgive me if I am wrong, but did you flick him the bird or something? I have been on a bike in that situation and learned to let the twat in a metal box think he has won by ignoring him. Genuinely interested to find out if his 2nd reaction was totally unprovoked? Doesn't excuse his Curb mounting, but still....
I can't believe this is the first time you have met this guy, surely there must be some reason he flew into such a rage? Hopefully the local cops can help you out, stay safe.
This video could just start at 1:30...
update?
How to look up info on a license plate holder - lifehacker.com/5900349/learn-the-identity-of-nearly-any-car-owner-with-their-license-plate-number-and-a-simple-google-search
I did try to look up the driver's ID by going to the Washington State emission control site to check on a test record. Nothing listed, alas.
WTF is wrong with ppl
What a load of crap
No way!!
Cyclist at fault. Did not obey traffic rules as a vehicle. If you don't ride in traffic as a vehicle (correct lane, stops, signaled turns, etc..) expect trouble. You give all cyclists a bad name. Shame on you.
Merica
to me it looked like he just drove up the pavement to save some time getting into the road and had nothing to do with the cyclist
In BC, This does not happen.
Typical Ford owner
All very weird. Looks like cartoon town
Right about now Bigg Bubba and friendzz working on his ass now in dark prison cell ;-)
Wow hi you. I was ride electric scooter see all poeple bad or angry and talk on phone and driving not safety I used helmet camera
Bit naughty
That was 1min longer than it needed to be

Cyclist are criminals right??
Crazy son of b
Drivers like that need to be deported
😂😂😂
Looks like he was using a shortcut .
There's no reason to believe that the driver wanted to run over the cyclist. Actually appears that he wanted to make a last-minute right turn. This happens all the time and often looks drastic. He was in the center lane nowhere near the cyclist so there's no communication or escalation. He also was not really close to the cyclist. Asshole driver but he doesn't seem to actually follow the rider as he could have.
so pointing the car at the cyclist on the sidwalk cutting across a lane of traffic isnt deliberatly trying to hit the cyclist, i dont know what is worse in that case, someone thinking its ok to cut across a lane of traffic mounting a kurb, all because they dont have the grey matter to think ahead further than the end of the bonnet, or purposelly trying to hit another road user, either way they should be put in a ditch before they put some poor sod in one
Does anyone not see the other wrong. Ive commuted for years. No matter what an ass in a car has done to me, unless I got hit, I wouldn't have done that. While the person in the explorer should get a hefty ticket for his/her actions, the cyclist should not have passed the vehicles at a stop light.
I genuinely don't understand your thought process here, the driver intentionally aimed 2 tonnes of metal at this guy for seemingly no reason and you're calling out filtering? I'm not an expert on cycling laws in WA, but the actions of the driver are downright idiotic and psychopathic.
isn't life always about you, Mr self important. Black car is just sneaking through to the right and has to avoid a cyclist riding in and out of the traffic and up and down pavements. Then you rush away breaking nearly every traffic law known to man, because of your over active imagination and self importance.
wobble wobble keep ya bike still
Can't understand why the filming cyclist is riding like 'Rambo on the run" - riding nearly in the middle of his lane and calming down and provoking the traffic whitout any need. Even whitout a little time to let pass the cars. Acting like this, it's only a question of time .... Aggressive and reckless cyclists are riding themselves into danger.
He's just following you. Technically you're not supposed to be on the sidewalk either bud.
+Matthew Klippert Depends on the city. You can ride the sidewalk in my city, assuming you go slow and yield to pedestrians. It's nice for side-stepping traffic at intersections.
+Matthew Klippert It is legal to ride on sidewalks in Shoreline WA, as it is in most places in Washington State.
James French, I'm an Aussie cyclist, and from my perspective it's the drivers not paying attention who are pigs. You know, the people that use language like 'pigs' to dehumanise fathers, mothers, daughters and sons who just prefer riding a bike to driving a car, so they can justify driving like arseholes.
I don't understand how some cyclists can't just fucking give way to some motorists.. like seriously yes you can use the full road legally in some areas but not for long periods of time or for certain events. I ride a bicycle 25 to 35 miles everyday to get to mountain bike trails and back I don't hog the road cause I know I ain't as fasr as all the other cars if I see a car coming I give way also for my own safety cause how people are now a days but still it's stupid and pointless you share the road but you don't own the road like everyone else. It's common sense
That was a fantastically ignorant comment.
It wasn't the cyclist who was refusing to share the road. He was overtaking 2 parked vehicles in the same short stretch of road, so he was in the middle of the lane where he should be. (or do you think he should weave in and out aka 'coming out of nowhere' to surprise the motorists?) The driver behind took no account of this, and just seemed to feel entitled to proceed at speed regardless of traffic ahead. Blowing his horn just to say 'make' way is ignorant and aggressive and pointless.
What tremendous inconvenience is it for the driver to read the traffic, slow down and overtake _when safe_ to do so? It's not like he has to break a sweat to get back up to speed, gas pedal is a lot easier to push than a bike pedal. He was approaching a line of traffic at a red light so his unsafe overtake didn't even get him anywhere faster (hopefully jail or resetting his driving exam).
This is all the common symptoms of the short sighted 'Must Get In Front' driver. They develop a dumb tunnel vision and focus only on the slower vehicle, paying no attention to anything else like obstacles, or traffic further ahead. Notice how after passing the two parked cars, the cyclist moved back towards the kerb, and none of the other overtaking traffic had a problem? Still, you want to blame the cyclist here?
