  • The new Cycliq Fly 6 Pro cycling camera was released last week. The 4k resolution, image stabilization, and improved phone app has me intrigued. Is the $349 price point worth it? Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks for this excellent initial review. I’ve only just started looking at my options for bike dash cam and so will wait for your follow up review. I’m interested to know where you mount your rear camera and if you had one a front cycliq camera on your HSD. And why you think that they’re the best places for you! I love hearing your sensible reasoning for how and why you choose things. Tern is very lucky to have you! 👏

Hi Scott! I actually left Tern earlier this year to make content on my own :)
I am running this camera front and rear. I use the GoPro adapter and then run a GoPro mount.
I’ll work on a video soon! Thanks for the questions

I have found the Cycliq camera very useful in the past. Especially when I was hit by driver failing to yield. But one rear and one front eventually died. Waiting to learn more before investing in a new bundle Fly 6 and Fly 12. My rides tend to be longer and I have always appreciated the light feature both during the day and at night. Thanks.

Appreciate the first look! I've been pretty happy with my Fly 6 CE, but I know reliability of that product has been pretty mixed. I hope this one proves to be more solid!

Im interested in the new rear camera. after 4 years of constant use, rain, hail and shine, my rear camera has given up the ghost. I noticed that the battery life had markedly decreased, and then it just wouldn't turn on any more. I'm thinking of getting the pro, especially if it is a servicable battery. I should also state that I just live down the road from where they have their office, so I have not had any real customer support issues.
Like one other commenter below, I go my cameras after a hit and run accident, I was left by the side of the road, ended up with a brain haemorrhage from the knock to the head, but my helmet saved me (I can't stress enough that every cyclist should have a MIPS helmet). Only a few days in hospital with cat scans every day to make sure I was stable and wasn't going to stroke out.

please kindly share your experience on trying to sync it with a bike computer since the product's manual does not provide any info on Ant+ syncing, suggesting does not have this feature anymore? thanks in advance!

Thanks for the prelim review. This is the product I most wanted to buy over the years but could never bring myself to do it because everyone I talked to and all of the reviews said it was garbage. Video quality sucked, battery life sucked and not the least bit waterproof (a foggy day was known to brick the old versions). Perhaps after years of refinement, Cycliq _finally_ has a product worth the money.

I agree with you I own the fly 6 CE and you are quite right there were a lot of problems with the CE edition and quite honestly I had to send two units back It's my own personal opinion and not fact but I believe there were a bad batch of units in circulation with the CE edition as too many people including myself were reporting issues and faults with the units previously .
I also noticed also Cycliqs you tube site has comments very strategically turned off so people cannot comment .
I want the new unit but I must be honest I have a lot of questions for Cyqliq as it's a lot of money and if I am to part with my hard earned money again what can they do to ensure I am not p.... sing my money up the wall .
when you pay for something this high end it needs to work and work consistently .

Unrelated question: can you tell me a bottom bracket compatible with a Tern Eclipse P20? I need to replace.

I really want to know whether the Fly 6 Pro could capture the number on license plate in low light condition during night time. I hope it will be covered in your next review. Many many thanks 🙏🏻

How low light? None of these cameras do well in evening shadows.

Such as street lighting in city area during night time. I also wondering whether the red rear light could affect the quality of the footage seriously at night ride. Many thanks 🙏🏻

I know from Reconyx trail/security cameras that while they offer a day/night license plate reader (too bulky for most bikers), to get good license plate reads the regular footage suffers. They explain this and show clips on their website. So I don't think the tech is there yet to do both well in one unit.

How do you update and time on these mine will not do either no matter how many times ive tried. these are fine when working but if there is a problem they are a nightmare

It's ridiculous they don't just make the battery user-replaceable. Also, the color quality still pales in comparison to GoPro, although I suppose that's less important than a clear image.

No ant+ supports so you can use any of the setting like changing light mode or saving fotage from your head unit. I will wait until they get up to speed with technolog

Lots of comments/videos on youtube saying these lights have quality/reliability issues, including one on this thread, from someone who purchased an earlier model..
This leaves me highly skepticalt about this product/customer service.

I’ve had good luck so far with this model. Not so good with previous ones.
The company claims they are doing better and to check out their recent reviews as proof.

I can vouch for Cycliq's terrible customer service and am curious as to what they've done to improve. I had one of the older rear cameras and it failed right after the warranty expired. It was clearly a hardware failure - the power button just stopped working - but all that Cycliq would do for me was offer a rather paltry discount on a new one. That turned me off of the company and I let my friends and bike peers know about my experience. That being said, I have run a GoPro camera on my helmet for years and it has more than paid for itself (and several additional future cameras) when I was involved in a hit and run. The $700 that a front and rear set up might cost you is still less than most deductibles.
