Full mod support for the game should be coming out in around 3-4 months alongside the first expansion. So there will probably be a lot of things added to the game around that time.
I think the surfaces the game places you in when landing may be randomly generated based on the biomes. The main thing is to try to pick a landing spot as close as possible to the border between two biomes type. Then, use the show me "terrain map" to find where two different terrain types/biomes meet each other, then run along the line of where they meet until you get a good spot.
It looks like they changed something with the patch. Even though it has the Alkines listed on the planet I don't actually see it shown when looking across the planet. Trying to look around more but not finding all 6 so far.
Just wondering if you have to spend any points in Planetary Habitation skill to build here? I haven't been to this world yet but probably will as soon as I can get Sarah off my back wanting me to pay attention to her LOL
Would have been really nice if you showed the two locations on the “show me” map so we could use those as reference points. Other than that great video
It looks like you put a skill points into Scanning, because without that skill you cannot see that type of resource detail when you scan a planet. I was wondering if geology skill helps increasing the detail of where resources are too.
I have one point in scanning, but the only important thing is trying to land as close to where the two biomes meet. Eg. Hills/Craters when talking about this planet/moon
Is pirate attacks common here? Just finished my outpost and about 10 40lvl pirates attacked. Good thing this was not my starter outpost. Great mini xp/equip farm though if they do keep attacking. On hard setting too.
Luckily, I am able to get here early on without having to spend anything on a ship. I have wanted as one of my traits and I was able to take a bounty hunter's ship which has a 21LY grave jump and 1300 storage capacity. Has pretty weapons and engine and a decent shield. It's one of those Ecliptic Falcata ships. Only downside is there is no bed to take advantage of the 10% XP on the fly. Overall, it's a good ship to have early on though.
Everyone wants to build on a planet with alot of sleep time but why not make your main base on it and setup outposts like this planet to transfer over there...
Because they want to setup one base to get lots of things quickly, instead of having to setup multiple bases, one of which is just a hub station. Especially since the inter-system transports require local He3 to build, and not all planets have that readily available.
Extraction time is already very fast on this planet. The only reason to care about sleep time is when it comes time to sell. If you’re managing multiple outposts with interstellar cargo links (I have 16 at this point) you’re just asking for a huge clog of resources that stop your entire production line.
Xbox must work differently. Literally HOURS I’ve spent running along biome lines. I think you have to land on the right pixel and get lucky with the resource generation. I wouldn’t waste effort on more than iron and aluminum in one copper and nickel in another and so on. Do one on what resources are worth mining versus just buying
The landing terrains are randomly generated, I would suggest checking a short span of the closest biome spilt and if it does look promising I would go to a new landing spot and try a new generation. I'm not sure if console has less generation of resource, I would hope it doesn't. But even myself I recently tried another 3 landing spots as I wanted a more flat base location and I found a 7 in 1 on the same planet/moon with a more flat beacon placement. I found that sometimes the biome spilt line can be a be wonky in its generation on a landing spot, so the best thing I've found is to land in a new spot and look at the terrain map when landing to see if it has a nice visible spilt. Remember you want to choose a landing spot as close as possible to where the biomes change names from Hills to Craters. Best of luck 👍
I promise you, you will want to put your fist through your monitor in frustration trying to get these many resources. It's not worth it 90% of the time. You'll spend hours flying and running around trying to get that holy grail spot. I've spent probably close to 60 hours alone doing outpost crap, and now I consider a spot good if it has he-3 and 2 other resources I want. He-3 being important as you won't need to ship it in from another place for your inter-system links.
Yeah you have a point. I did this “strategy” and wasted a lot of time looking for these spots on other planets, only to end up scrapping those outposts when a better combination came up. Some of the rare endgame resources are only on one planet, and end up having redundant resources with other outposts I had. Luckily it’s very easy to pick up and move if you don’t put too much effort into each one
@@fuzzball297 BSG needs to give us good reasons to do all this. In the end you spend countless hours, and skill points doing all this, and you're still bottlenecked by vendors that only have a handful of thousand credits. There's one spot with multiple close vendors, that is like the holy grail of selling spots, but it's all just so frustrating. Alot of manufactured goods actually sell for less than the parts needed to make them.
You can make a place to keep all your stuff, display your favorite armor/weaps, and also mine for resources automatically and come by to collect later to use/trade
Make sure to land as close as possible to where a biome changes from Hills to Crater. Then use the show me terrain map to look for Craters and hills. If you can't see both Craters and Hills on the terrain map, I suggest landing in another spot as you may never find a good spot if the terrain/biomes didn't randomise nicely on that landing spot.
@@OffMetaProfessor tried that multiple times. The difference with PC and Xbox is the accuracy with which you can pick a spot to land. I have walked many many kilometres to find the sweet spot. wtf FE + AL seriusly man, i not know how you found it. Is ok other resource but I thinked scripted fe + al because I search for hours and never found in same area...
Personally and IMO, when you can have a total of 24 outposts, I don't really see the need to min max the number of resources per outpost... Plus you can link them all to a Main outpost that is just for storage and crafting.
On a serious note: How useful are "outposts" here in this game? I'm not really into the building stuff, but if they can get interesting and you can have some QoL stuff going and even have it managed by NPCs, I'll probably dab a bit into it. Moreso if they get invaded or something. EDIT: Do outposts open up the game more where traderoutes open up, maybe even supply/demand stuff, etc.? Or is it just literally for getting passive money/resource income?
You're probably thinking of Scanning, which is a tier 2 skill that reveals rarer substances with orbital scans. It can definitely save you a lot of time by finding specks of rare or exotic minerals in the borderland zones.
They literally farm materials you need for crafting, modding and researching for you so that you never have to go mining or hunting yourself. With that you can also farm xp and money from them too. You can continue with your quests while they stockpile resources for you too
@@Frodo_swagginsX or you can go to the stores in every settlement and buy the materials. I made my money by doing freestar ranger quests and filling my ship storage with guns and space suits to sell, plus earning XP for every kill.
The most important thing is to land right on the border between Hills and Craters So try to be really precise with the landing placement and land just when the biome changes names eg Crater > Hills. When you bring the scanner out once you have landed, it brings up a compass in the left bottom circle, North showing as the thicker white arrow. You can use the planet/moons resource map to decide which direction on the compass would be towards the closest biome eg. If you landed on a Hills landing spot with Craters biome above you on the resource map, you'd head north. Also, use the "show me" terrain map to look for Hill like or Crater like biome terrain then walk along a line of where they meet when searching for a spot. If still no luck on a good spot, you can try landing on different areas of the planet as long as the landing spot is as close as possible to the transition from Hills to Crater biomes. Then, look quickly on the terrain map or simply from the ships normal viewing angle before exiting it to see if you can find the change of biomes. Tip: Crater biomes have dark black like soil, and Hill biomes have Red sand like soil, you'll know you are at the change of a biome when the soil colour changes, it can also be a big benefit if the weather on the planet isn't bad when looking eg Sunny is best and the weather changes from time to time. Good luck.
Great video, but... If you have an outpost with 6 resources, the netto production per minute will be lower, because lack of spaces for drilling machines. Right? Anyway, can we sold this resources automatically? As I know not or not yet. This is not a tycoon game, ok 😂
@@zachrohler1047 They went away for me when I made new landing zones somewhat close by. But when I placed them further away on the planet they would stay. Try to make new landing zones as close as you can while still giving you room to click around and find a the right spot.
The real question however.. is why you need them in the first place? What is the point of outpost? What are the benefits? I can hardly find any justification to use them, let alone to waste points of skill on mediocrity i will have no use from.
They literally farm materials you need for crafting, modding and researching for you so that you never have to go mining or hunting yourself. With that you can also farm xp and money from them too. You can continue with your quests while they stockpile resources for you too
@@Frodo_swagginsX Idk.. i get all needed resources on the run. Doing constant pirating, looting, exploring.. Never had i been in a situation of a dire need for resources. Do you know why? Because i ignored outposts. Lol, it's that obvious. Don't place outpost - you won't need any resources. In fact, you will face different problem - you will drop most of resources because of ship cargo size. As for farm XP.. i am not playing to cheese game like that, so i am not interested in this. Money? Pirating, quests, contraband runs. I am swimming in them. My last ship cost me 400k+ creds, and i am getting more for next tier upgrade. I guess 60% less resources on craft (research skills) doing their job. Without it i would probably be pretty dry on resources. Probably.
You dont need it. Its just there if u like building and crafting. However finding the right locations can allow you to XP farm by creating adaptive frames and whatnot VERY quickly if u want to level up super quick
Try landing at a new spot, then open the terrain map looking for a clear border between craters and hills if one isn't close go to a new landing spot on a border and try again. I prefer doing this over running around hoping as the game randomly generates a new area every time you land. Best of luck.
Try new landing spots as it randomly generates every time you land again. Just make sure to land right on the border of Craters and hills, and use the terrain map to look for a clear divide of biomes. If you can't see a clear divide within 10mins try a new landing spot.
I would suggest landing at a new spot if you don't have luck within 5-10mins of looking. Just make sure the landing spot is right on the biome change from Hills to Craters. As soon as you land look at the (View Me) terrain map and look to see if you can see a clear terrain change, if not try a new landing spot as they are randomly generated, and some landing spots can just be poorly randomized.
I found that turning off fall damage and setting player speed to 1000 made the whole process of finding resource sweet spots far more enjoyable. Leaping around flag in hand rather than an endless running simulator.

I've been trying to find all 7. Can't find any helium nor all 7 together.
Thanks for the vid and the info. I haven’t thought to use the “show me” map to identify where the biomes meet up.
It looks like they changed something with the patch. Even though it has the Alkines listed on the planet I don't actually see it shown when looking across the planet. Trying to look around more but not finding all 6 so far.
yeah I am starting to find the alkines but not seeing them with enough other stuff. They may have created more of a boarder.
YEAH I finally found a spot!!!
well I found a spot but some of things are too high to build apparently hmm
What is the time dialation ratio?
Just wondering if you have to spend any points in Planetary Habitation skill to build here? I haven't been to this world yet but probably will as soon as I can get Sarah off my back wanting me to pay attention to her LOL
Im struggling to find your landing area
😮amazing 👏
Would have been really nice if you showed the two locations on the “show me” map so we could use those as reference points. Other than that great video
It looks like you put a skill points into Scanning, because without that skill you cannot see that type of resource detail when you scan a planet. I was wondering if geology skill helps increasing the detail of where resources are too.
I have one point in scanning, but the only important thing is trying to land as close to where the two biomes meet. Eg. Hills/Craters when talking about this planet/moon
NIICCEEEE video, well explained
Is pirate attacks common here? Just finished my outpost and about 10 40lvl pirates attacked. Good thing this was not my starter outpost. Great mini xp/equip farm though if they do keep attacking. On hard setting too.
I love the way y'all pronounce "aluminum"!
They spell it Aluminium in England. Both versions are correct.
Thank you for the tips, it is very helpful
No problem, I'm still learning how to edit videos lol
found 7 for one outpost, same planet.. everything but the lead.. same general area
OMG AFTER I WROTE THAT I COULDN'T FINALLY I LANDED ON THE SAME SPOT AS YOU!!!! WOOOJOOOOO
Why can't Bethesda put a lat/long coordinates on these planets/moons since they are simple spheres.
Thanks for this vid
Thank you for the clear description of how it all works with no b.s. 😁
I just wanted to mention this, for a slight moment you did uncover 7 resources when ytterbium also popped in, just before you placed the outpost
Yea i think you could possibly get even 8 if you were really lucky.
probably had the beacon over a small deposit of Ytterbium
FYI you need a ship with high gravity jump to reach this planet
Yes, but you can still get there with one of the better A class Grav jump modules, so fairly early on.
@@OffMetaProfessorit requires a grav jump of 19LY.
Not a issue for me but would be for early game players
@@9oth I think I got to the planet at level 8-9 so you can get there early if you focus on ship building.
It's really easy to get to, just a minor upgrade to the grav jump and anyone can get there.
Have any of you guys found nice outpost locations of your own?
Bohr II has growable adhesive via Husbandry!
@@KingPanzer5 I'll have to check it out, more development with the animals and creatures on the planets in the future will be cool 👍
Thank you
Anyone found planet that has harvestable lubricant?
This! I keep seeing these videos..then I spend 3 hours searching and nothing😊
New sub
What are the outpost benefits?
You can make a place to keep all your stuff, display your favorite armor/weaps, and also mine for resources automatically and come by to collect later to use/trade
I did try it now for 2 hours and I think I had a badly generated moon here so I need search a other one
It’s so hard on Xbox to achieve this. I have spent 6 hours over 2 characters trying to find this. No joy at all.
Bethesda need to add a better way for all to use.
Thanks for taking the time to put this up. Will try again today !!
Great video thanks
awesome 💖👍
wtf FE + AL seriusly man, i not know how you found it.
Can take a while to have that many outposts.
Finding this spot is harder than finding the other spot iykwim 😂
Try different landing spots, as each landing spot is randomly generated.
Noone: *watches vid*
Me, when I hear him say "aluminum": *hears Avengers: Civil War music*
On a serious note: How useful are "outposts" here in this game? I'm not really into the building stuff, but if they can get interesting and you can have some QoL stuff going and even have it managed by NPCs, I'll probably dab a bit into it. Moreso if they get invaded or something.
EDIT: Do outposts open up the game more where traderoutes open up, maybe even supply/demand stuff, etc.? Or is it just literally for getting passive money/resource income?
When you are trying to place your outpost, what are your surveying and geology skill level at?
It doesn’t matter
My Geology is only level 1, I believe.
I think geology levels just increase the chance of better yields when mining with your cutter tool.
You're probably thinking of Scanning, which is a tier 2 skill that reveals rarer substances with orbital scans. It can definitely save you a lot of time by finding specks of rare or exotic minerals in the borderland zones.
Most I got was a 5 in 1 but still pretty good
Same. Was running around for like an hour tryna get 6
Yeah great one question. What for? I've completed the game three times now without building one outpost.
I just can't, been trying for two days....😢
The most important thing is to land right on the border between Hills and Craters
So try to be really precise with the landing placement and land just when the biome changes names eg Crater > Hills.
Take a shot every time he says Kind Of
how do you get rid of all the explored areas you create from jumping and landing all over the place looking for these spots?
land a few times (3+) somewhere nearby and it’ll replace the other landing points, but make sure it’s far enough to give you room to click around.
quicksave , land, dont like that spot... load the quick save back up and you wont have all those landing sites
"Explored" landing zones dont seem to go away
@@zachrohler1047 They went away for me when I made new landing zones somewhat close by. But when I placed them further away on the planet they would stay. Try to make new landing zones as close as you can while still giving you room to click around and find a the right spot.
Thank you so much !!!😊
The real question however.. is why you need them in the first place?
Can't seem to get six....
Try landing at a new spot, then open the terrain map looking for a clear border between craters and hills if one isn't close go to a new landing spot on a border and try again.
I prefer doing this over running around hoping as the game randomly generates a new area every time you land.
Best of luck.
I was able to find a location that had 7 resources within my outpost limits.
Alkynes? Triple bonds!
Anybody!
Pls help! I can't find it! Has someone good pictures of the soroundings? Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!
Try new landing spots as it randomly generates every time you land again.
Just make sure to land right on the border of Craters and hills, and use the terrain map to look for a clear divide of biomes.
If you can't see a clear divide within 10mins try a new landing spot.
thx@@OffMetaProfessor
Two days, maybe 6-7 hours trying, Never saw more than 4 elements together. Tottaly quit this optimazed outposts
Because someone will probably ask:
SetGS fJumpFallDamageMult 0 ;(default is 0.0033)
player. setav speedmult 1000 ;(default is 100)
Achievement enabler on nexus mods if that bothers you.
So, cheating?
