This video is 2 years old, but I still hope you get this message. Thank you so much! Our washer started humming today. I found a video that said the capacitor likely burnt out. I sent my husband to the hardware store, while he was out, I did another YT search and saw your video. When he got back (they didn't have the part) I told him to check the pump just in case and low and behold it was my son's sock stuck in there!! We couldn't get it out but found the part online. Saved us from getting a new washer!!! God bless you for posting this and helping us all.
Love this video! Very helpful and helped me diagnose my problem! Wife was all about figuring out what it was until, through this video, we found a sock stuck in the pump. She missed her chance for a new set for now anyway. Thanks again. Simple and straight to the possible problems without chasing squirrels over simple stuff like where to buy each thing you pick up!
Save me a bunch of money thank you sir. I didnt pinch the line i just emptied by hand as much as possible then tilted back against the wall and went underneath the cover took a total of 5 min and a pair of pliers after i tilted it back. Horrible smell though.
Have this problem currently. Humming sound, not draining, but will fill. Doing this tomorrow. Gonna sip on my cocktail and laugh at your slingshot prize :) Thank you good sir, I’ll try and give an update, good or bad. Cheers and thank you
Very helpful video , certainly found a sock in the pump but after removing sock unfortunately had no luck with it fixing the humming noise , fills with water but still want spin or drain . If you could give me further advice i would greatly appreciate it .
If it agitates but won’t spin it could be the motor. The motor reverses to spin and drain and those windings could be burned. I have seen a bad capacitor cause that too. Thanks for watching!
I repair at my shop. I was working at Mr. Harper’s before he passed away but now at my shop (see more recent videos) I also drive up to 30 miles for service calls. Thanks for watching!
You probably have a transmission problem. Specifically the mechanism on the bottom end of the agitator shaft. Watch this video for that repair. Whirlpool Gearcase Rebuild | Total Overhaul Corrected ruclips.net/video/UbybdNrfYvg/видео.html
You can check out this short video right here Testing Motor Starting Capacitors Made Simple ruclips.net/user/shortsCM5qKTLY43M?feature=share. Thanks for watching!
Have you checked the lid switch? Why don’t you remove the motor from the transmission and water pump and try it with no load on it. I assume you have the lid switch bypassed so you can do this. There is a way to test the motor but it requires a test box: Make a washing machine motor test box at home - FULL INSTRUCTIONS! ruclips.net/video/56OI7euGTEc/видео.html you can test the continuity of the windings to see if they are intact.
Thank you for the video! Question: My washer would just stop from time to time then I'll turn it off and back on it would start back running. Now it just stopped during cycle and is humming like the video. Do you think it could be the switch?
Thank you for reaching out with your question! It's difficult to provide an accurate solution without knowing the specific model of your machine or being able to diagnose it myself. However, based on your description, I can offer a couple of possible causes for the issue you're experiencing. One possibility is that there might be something stuck in the water pump, which could be preventing it from functioning properly and causing the washer to stop and hum during the cycle. Another potential cause could be a bad start capacitor, which can lead to issues with the machine starting or running correctly. As for the switch, it could also be a possible cause, but it's hard to determine without more information and a proper diagnosis. Please keep in mind that these are just general suggestions, and the actual cause of the problem could be different. To get a more accurate diagnosis, I recommend reaching out to a local appliance repair technician who can assess your machine in person. I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
@@HarperandKnowlesI really appreciate you responding so quickly! I'm pretty handy around the house and was hoping I could save myself from getting another washer. But I think the troubleshooting would be a bit too much for me. So, with the service cost in my area I think I'll do better getting a refurbished washer with a 30 or 60 day warranty. Btw it's a Whirlpool Ultimate Core II.
Hopefully you can help me out. My Frigidaire washer is doing a humming noise won’t spin nor agitate. But it does drain. What do you think is wrong. Hopefully nothing to expensive 🤞
This video is great. Wondering if you might have some insight to my situation. Whirlpool wtw5000dw3 Just replaced the water inlet a few weeks ago. I’ve done some testing, and only when it is on HOT water cycle does this happen. Cold, cool, and warm work as normal. It begins to fill with water for a few seconds, and then just hums. Doesn’t go any further in the cycle - just stays there. Any idea what could be causing this issue?
That is a bad water supply problem. You probably have a bad replacement valve. Try to get OEM parts when you can. Also check that your water supply into the valve is working properly too. The hum is the solenoid trying to open the valve.
what about if sometimes it does this, but if you let it sit for 2-3 days it starts to work for a load or two again then stops working and does this again?
Then I’d suspect you may need to change the start capacitor or perhaps even the motor. The internal thermal protection of the motor will shut down an over heating motor. I can’t give you a definitive answer without being able to actually work with the machine, but those are my best guesses. I hope this is useful and thanks for watching.
If the machine will spin with the pump disconnected it is the pump. If it won’t it may be the capacitor or could be the motor itself. Thanks for watching!
So what if when I have it on just hot water, it fills, but when I turn the hot water off and leave the cold water valve on, it just buzzes. It’s a whirlpool by the way. It fills up for like twenty seconds and the just shuts off
That all depends on your particular model. These whirlpool direct drive machines had them in three locations. Some models have the capacitor attached to the motor with a metal strap while others it is located on the right rear cabinet under the water fill valves in a white plastic piece that attaches it to the cabinet back panel. In much older “museum” models it can be found under the console. Thanks for watching!
I’m guessing you are working on a digital type washer. The humming is probably the water valve solenoid and if it has a limited flow of water you may need to replace the water valves or clean the screens inside the inlets. A continuous clicking sound might be a defective lid lock. Watch this video it might help you. Amana Washer Making Noise When Filling | Hack This Issue ruclips.net/video/qq37YBKr3q8/видео.html

So the washer am working on hums for a few seconds and clicks
Any idea would help

Nothing happens. I was trying to recalibrate when I try it hums and clicks and nothing happens
The main problem was it slowly feels up with water and does nothing. The water drains when I hold the start button for a few seconds
