  • This is an in depth review of the EMG (Evike Manufacturing Group) Daniel Defense Mk18 with the CYMA Platinum gearbox. In this video I compare the externals to my real steel DD Mk18. I discuss the internals and stock performance of this airsoft replica.
    In this video I mention a new airsoft CQB facility, Panoramic CQB. You can find out more about their business here: www.panoramiccqd.com/

    Glad to see a proper review from someone that knows what they're talking about been looking for this the whole time just picked up a tan MK 18 for my first gun, this review put me at ease I know I made a good choice Small quality life improvements and don't have to touch it

    The orange tip is glued and you can use a small flathead screwdriver to unscrew it Little bit heat from a heat gun and it will come off, little tip stick an Allen key through the flash hider and twist clockwise because it is a 14 negative

    Thanks for the review! Seems that they're hard to come by for this particular rifle. I just ordered one on express shipping so I can field it this weekend. Just getting back into Airsoft after a nearly ten year hiatus, and I can't believe how far airsoft replicas have come, but also how they've stayed relatively the same in many ways. This should be a nice upgrade from my (now vintage) G&G Raider and serve as a good platform to tweak a little bit in the future.
    Also, GREAT of you to mention lowering the FPS by backing out the spring retainer, never would have thought of that. My local field has a 350 fps limit, and my plan was to take a set of dikes with me and clip the spring in the parking lot and re-chrono until I got down enough. This is a less destructive option that'll get me through the weekend until I can tinker around and find the right spring to get it down to limits.

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  Год назад

      Thanks. The backing out of the spring guide has it's limits for modifying fps on the fly. I generally use that technique for fine tuning +/- 5 fps. Good luck!

    the maxx hop is one thing emg got right. i use one on my lvoa. my brother shot it, and couldnt believe it. he's a law enforcement and pre '86 collector. having never touched an aeg he was imoressed how much adjustment can be done with a hop up. do you use this for trrainingat all. i assume youve got training covered or do you go out any play. just curious. cheers

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  Год назад +1

      For SWAT training we use the UTM system. It let's us train with our actual weapons and it is a marking round. The weapons also function correctly. Unfortunately UTMs only have about half the range of airsoft so they can be limiting for outdoor training.

    Good review there man! Can you tell me what upgrades you did to it? I have exactly same emg mk18 and I want to upgrade it to make it perfect!
    Edit: i read some comments, i have the same maxx hop up installed, also i got a zci inner barel 6.02 270mm and a ML super macaron 70, i just want to change the nozzle and then in the future maybe change the mosfet, since i know a common issue is that the microswitch of the trigger dies from the lipo 11.1v semi fire abuse

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  Год назад +1

      Thus far, very little. I believe I used a 6.03 Madbull TBB I have had for years and a maxhop. I also upgraded the air nozzle to one to a more durable one I had in my parts bin. I couldn't tell you the brand. It is a CQB gun and thus range and accuracy upgrades are not observable. I run and 11.1v lipo and the trigger response is adequate for semiauto play. IF the micro switch burs out from using the 11.1 I will replace it with a mossfet. However I have been running my CYMA SR25 with an 11.1v battery pretty hard for over three years and it still runs like a champ. I assume they use the same micro switch trigger.

      @@kudoistas5133 I installed a Maxx Hopup unit and for some reason I had feeding issues with multiple different mags. With PTS EPM1 I had some feeding issues as well. I took it in with a tech at evike and he said theyve been having issues with the same hopup as well. It could've been the air nozzle, but I never got around to change the nozzle. I swapped to Retro Arms hopup and it feeds perfectly now. If you got your Maxx Hopup to work, let me know how! It was bothering me for months trying to figure out what it was.

      I have not had any issues with the 11.1v yet but to be honest it hasn't been that long. I did have some feeding issues with the stock hop up unit and my PTS Syndicate magazines. I switched to the Max Hop unit and didn't have anymore issues with feeding. It is a minor thing but probably worth noting.

      I was an ICS supporter for many years. I just had to leave the band wagon. The split gear box was great and offered many advantages over traditional AEGs. However in recent years with quick change spring options on most gearboxes the pros of the ICS split gearbox are outweighed by the cons. Namely they are VERY noisy.

    I have this exact same replica. But why use a rifle over a pistol with a high capacity magazine for indoors CQB in real life? Surely there is a reason, but I feel mabye it is habit rather than a rifle being the best platform for the job?
    Reason I say this - when it comes to making entry past the threshold of a doorway, I have tried using one-point slings, two-point slings, and various footwork and methods of manipulating the rifle platform to present to target as quickly as possible once stepping past the threshold. But I have found that since the barrel of a pistol is much shorter, you can manipulate a pistol much more easily and hence present the weapon to target more quickly, particularly if you have to button-hook and engage a target in the uncleared corner of a room, much more quickly than a rifle which is more cumbersome in a room/indoors CQB situation. So then why use a rifle? OK it has a slightly higher capacity, calibre of bullet and all these advantages - but all this is negated by the fact that in the 0.5 seconds or whatever time it takes to present the rifle to a target in a corner once you make entry, the 'bad guy' hiding in the corner and pre-aiming at the fatal funnel has already acquired you and is ahead in the OODA loop and so will shoot first. I have found using a one-point sling, and then 'swinging the weapon in' without bashing the door frame and hip firing if required can reduce time-to-acquire, but it seems making entry with a pistol is more quick, controlled and precise when making room entry during CQB. So whilst I understand the need to have a rifle platform as a soldier in the field or for targets 20+ metres out, why do SWAT members use a rifle when doing CQB room clearing? Most suspects might have poor firearms knowledge and discipline, but surely if you come across a person hiding in a corner and pre-aiming the door, you can more consistently present-to-target more quickly using a pistol when making entry past the threshold to clear the uncleared corner/10% of the room, as opposed to a rifle platform?

      Okay, this comment is a lot to respond to and I am not going to do an adequate job here. Short version, first guy into the structure, typically me, is carrying a ballistic shield and a pistol but NOT for the reasons you mentioned. The bottom line is a rifle is more accurate and LOT deadlier. Pistols are defensive weapons. Shooting at paper in a booth is VERY different than shooting in a dynamic, high risk room entry.
