First saw this in theater, as I've seen the first Blade in theater. The effects and coreogrify was beyond outstanding. And to this day, it's still outstanding. This movie is a classic, and classics not only command respect, but they deserve it. This movie was a job well done.

The shot of the ninja's swinging on the ceiling at the start was actually great CGI for the time. Because that almost certainly had to be hand animation, no way you could mo-cap it.

Blade was truly one not to be fucked with. Dude still had his sword sheeted just casually blocking attacks from a Ninja vampire(Nyssa) swinging 2 swords at him. Other vampire(homie with the braids)jumps in to join the party so he unsheets his sword and starts swinging both the sheet and the sword at both of them then decides "alright fuck this sheet because its just getting in the way now" and throws it on the ground then drops the second vampire to make it a one on one fight with him and Nyssa and from that point they just start duking it out. Blood pack never stood a chance in hell against this dude and it show'd in the following scene after this one and at the end if the movie when he killed Reinhart.
In this scene, there's actually alot of very cool tactics that blade uses, the first one is obviously the light, the light was for the majority of the fight behind him while the enemy was facing it, making it insanely hard to track a target, and when he was facing the lights, he moved the fight around to have the lights behind him again. another very subtle tactic he used, was power striking. Both of the vampires fight with speed instead of power, if you notice when the guy enters the fight, blade changes up the style of attack from speed, to a 2 handed power strike, which throws the guys own fighting style off and makes him lose. small intricate styles in the fight makes it insanely impressive
2019 - Still one of the best fight scene ever. Ninja Vampires with a skilled martial arts actor in W. Snipes. You have to understand they are vampires and can move in inHumanly ways with their attributes. The CGI goes well with proving that. Just enjoy the entertainment.

Wesley snipes blade is IMO the best actor / comic cast ever . he does the character so much justice. His hand to hand combat is insane , and he has this swag/style to the way he fights and moves . he needs to be in the marvel universe so bad . like with the current universe . imagine seeing him with cap , just beating as lol . and the fact hes older is better . vampires get stronger with age ...... Wesley Snipes completely brought the character to life the same way that Jon Bernthal did with Frank Castle. Both characters really shine in film and on Netflix because they were allowed to be as violent as they needed to be.

That's what I thought! Modern-day ninjas are such a cool concept. Playing as a spy in Spies vs. Mercs gave you a similar feeling (especially in Double Agent, where the spies were at their most agile).

I think it's just that it was a bit unnecessary and could have easily been done with wire-work/real people instead so that it could maintain a timeless look. Instead, those snippets of cgi just look dated now. They turn a 10/10 fight scene into like, 8/10. (Which is still better than most modern movies anyway so there's that.)
For people constantly bitching about the CGI. Let me offer some context. After the Matrix, every action move featuring Martial Arts always had characters on wires doing crazy shit. It looked jerky, obvious and always broke the pace of the fight. Del Toro realized Blade and Vampires are stronger, faster beings and would move in a impossible ways with speed, this couldn't be accomplished with wires because Del Toro hated the fact it broke the kinetic nature of the fights. So CGI was the only way to accomplish this. It gave the film a since of "hyper realism" because you're seeing characters do amazing things in one shot without having to cut away and you retain the speed and flow. Yes, it looks cartoonish, but I've honestly never given a damn. After so many martial arts films with shitty wire work, I would rather this. It takes me LESS out of the fight.

for people bitching about the cgi in this movie, go back and watch the action sequences in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Almost every big budget action movie that came out in the early 2000's looked extremely computerized. This looked fucking incredible back in the day.
to be fair, even the director of Blade 2 (Del Toro) said that some of the CGI wasn't good in places. Take this scene, for example - in some places it still holds up, like when the ninjas are swinging across the ceiling, or when Blade does that backflip off the cabinet. But in other places it just looks awful, like when they're fighting in front of the floodlights. The thing that people need to remember is that a lot of that technology was still very new back then. And the motion capture techniques used were improved and refined for when "Spiderman" came out later on. so yet again, even in CGI, the Blade films blazed a trail for future Marvel films to follow.
I don't know what you're talking about. The Lord of the Rings aged a hundred times better than this crap. And so did Jurassic Park, The Phantom Menace, and dozens of other movies.

Silver didn't work on reapers. Their hearts were encased in layers of bone which made getting a silver blade/stake in there extremely difficult.
The end of the fight looked like the best part. The whole thing was good in general but it looked like they extra serious towards the end.

@Melissa Waterman Blade 3 wasn't trash I hate that it wasn't serious like these 2 or that Blade wasn't the soul guy but it wasn't terrible like ya make it out to be they had Dracula in their very bad ass if I might add though I wish they'd use Dracula in the traditional sense . Still Blade 3 was awesome they just should've had it to wear Blade was the soul dude in charge instead of on a team .
for people bitching about the cgi in this movie, go back and watch the action sequences in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Almost every big budget action movie that came out in the early 2000's looked extremely computerized. This looked fucking incredible back in the day.
Not when you first watch it though, I remeber this looking realistic as hell but I guess time changes that
to be fair, even the director of Blade 2 (Del Toro) said that some of the CGI wasn't good in places. Take this scene, for example - in some places it still holds up, like when the ninjas are swinging across the ceiling, or when Blade does that backflip off the cabinet. But in other places it just looks awful, like when they're fighting in front of the floodlights.
The thing that people need to remember is that a lot of that technology was still very new back then. And the motion capture techniques used were improved and refined for when "Spiderman" came out later on.
so yet again, even in CGI, the Blade films blazed a trail for future Marvel films to follow.
I don't know what you're talking about. The Lord of the Rings aged a hundred times better than this crap. And so did Jurassic Park, The Phantom Menace, and dozens of other movies.
Charles Mabe there are some cgi scenes in LOTR that are terrible, like the scene where Legolas is on the elephant in Return of the King.
Fair enough.

Movie came out in '02,and literally only 5% of this fight is CGI. Why yall feel the need to bitch about 5% worth of CGI?? If you dont bitch about the coins in between your couch, dont start now lol.
+StephonST because the unrealistic CGI takes you out of the movie, The scene was actually perfectly till about 1:50, Fight scene was excellent directed, But when the CGI took over it completely took you of the movie, At one point it looked like computer game

SDS Overfiend of course I was, just the cartoon like and unnatural movements of the cgi counterparts looked terrible.. But overall I really like the movie, blade and blade 2 are good films, just a shame about blade trinity
StephonST I thinks it's just irritating to have a fight done in real time that is so good and stylised. With the weird decision to have pieces of the fight scene done in very unconvincing cgi is just a odd choice.
Because some people aren't satisfied by anything.
