@@JB-eg1tb Yeah, I don't really care for the teleprompter-assisted scripts. I prefer more natural commentary. However, not everyone is as comfortable talking to a camera as this dude. 🙂
Nah, I find it distracting. Why am I reacting (good or bad) to the persons personality (could be the architect or inhabitants). I’d rather let their homes do the talking (they say ALOT) don’t need more jabbering on top of that. There are millions of videos like that if we want that.
Do you know why we all love these two videos featuring this guy? Because he's just a cool dude. No matter which apartment he lived in or which one NTS showed us, we'd still love it. Good job NTS and great apartment bro.
Amusing- Sean speaking Italian in the beginning and Italian subtitles showing up on my computer screen. I was thinking, "wait a minute- I have my subtitles (CC) set to English!" I was just about ready to stop the video and check my settings but then he lapsed into English. Made me smile. I am hearing-impaired (and hearing aids don't fix everything) so I often rely on CCs/Subtitles (and context) to understand what I am hearing. Anyway, Sean gave me my first smile of the day (watching this in the early AM).
I love the green ply and the overall aesthetic and vibe, the terracotta tiles, and the chrome accents with pottery and plants. It feels very curated and deliberately chosen.
Good renovation in an older solid building. Love the layout, the moveable seating units, funky book shelving. Lots of recycling materials - good work! Love all the storage, and the green colour. Using a projector on a white wall is a great idea. I’m from the 1950’s era where slides were projected on the glass beaded screen.
I know this place. I'm about 20 mins walk away but still in West Brunswick. Big suburb! You're right, the bones on these old places are good. i have a similar one on Moreland Road!
Plyco are good, not too far away from this location too. The first video is one of my favourites, shows that it’s quite achievable for me at this moment. I appreciate the cost breakdown and the materials used mentioned in this video!
Plyco is definitely a solid choice, and the location is convenient. The first video makes the project feel doable, especially with the clear cost breakdown and details about the materials used.
A very interesting format, thank you for showing how everything was done and what problems had to be solved during the repair process. The guy is great, he has golden hands, he created a beautiful and functional interior.
I'm a lamp-person, also. I only use my overhead lights to enter a darkened room safely and then turn on the table or floor lamps. Even with a "yellow" (warm/soft) bulb(s) in an overhead fixture it still isn't as warm and welcoming (to me, personally) as the light cast by table or floor fixtures or even wall sconces. That's just me...
Loved this video! I really enjoyed the relaxed format and hearing from someone who isn't an architect. It's really useful seeing someone breaking down costs and showing the processes they used with materials. And love that he rented his tools and used secondhand materials! Much more useful than people showing off apartments they haven't lived in.
I love that you followed the original tour with this deep dive on the process and cost - as someone is just starting their own renovation, this has been incredibly insightful, inspiring and motivating - I am going to try to embrace the can-do attitude!
Love this type of videos more than the usuals! You could see life and not only the architectural or "creation". Good job with this and hope to see more like this in the future!!!!
Really loved this episode, it's unique because of his DIY story. Excited to see his can do attitude. I can see his positive character and energy based on the help from his friends
probably my favorite NTS video to date! i really enjoyed the format and getting a peak behind the curtain into the process. it inspires me for future renovations. more of this please! it felt much more engaging too
Oh WOW! Firstly Shaun is an absolute legend! ❤💪👌. So inspiring! And down to earth. Love You! Absolutely amazing what you have achieved. A proper home! And yes the new format video is very welcome. Fantastic small space with character, warmth and a story. On a tight budget too. Shaun, thank you for sharing. And yes you could make this a career!. All the best. Great place to live.
this is my favourite one so far. i am stealing the idea of getting ikea cabinets and custom plywood fronts. also love the holes in the PAX doors instead of handles.
From the very beginning I was curious why this fellow had papers pinned up on his office wall. I decided he must be an author and was writing out his book by hand. How funny to discover it's Italian as I'm doing sort of the same thing with Spanish words on post-it notes stuck all over my house! ;)
@5:35 that gap between the bench panels seems a like a place where spilled liquids could drain down and become a problem... but considering there is a intentionally drilled hole in the same panel, there is probably some sort of wet protection beneath...?
Great that you include information about the renovation costs. Would be even better to also include purchase prices / rental prices of the apartments shown. As a viewer, It is just very interesting to know whether a project shown is within your financial reach or not.
I liked the old format better…for me it is way more difficult to follow if the storyline is like this, because it seems very unstructured…but still good job
When do we stop pretending that 42 sqm for a single person is small? That's an average apartment in most big cities. You guys should rebrand this channel too NEVER TOO AVERAGE. Also how out of touch do you have to be to think 20000 dollars for your apartment renovation is a super tight budget?
I literally went to IKEA today and they were quoting $15-20k just for a NTS sized kitchen (without professional installation). Having $20k for kitchen, bathroom, flooring, insulation, plumbing, electrical, robes and furniture IS super tight.
I don’t really like this format or type of content 🥲 why film this if he’s already documented it all? ANd the internet is already full of non-designer DIYers... so confused...
This is wonderful to see someone who is not an architect speaking about the process and the costs. Love it and he's done a great job.
Wow this version of the video is so much better than the typical format. Please release more videos like this.
I agree. Its more genuine and real instead of what it looks like reading a memorized script.
This version definitely offers a fresh and engaging take. More videos like this would be a great idea!

Agree!

Chiming in to say this format feels very real! The place really feels “lived in”, not a sterile hotel room that was just cleaned and tidied.
Do you know why we all love these two videos featuring this guy? Because he's just a cool dude. No matter which apartment he lived in or which one NTS showed us, we'd still love it. Good job NTS and great apartment bro.
We love the owner, thank for release the chapter 2😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Fresh, honest, practical and liveable. Refreshing to see this down to earth project.

Yes, he gave me a few smiles. I have a feeling he may be a fan of pubs 😂
His apartment is really a reflection of him. Well done!
a tool library is something every small town needs
Videos about self-renovated apartments are my favourites. This one is great. More like this, please!
I love the green ply and the overall aesthetic and vibe, the terracotta tiles, and the chrome accents with pottery and plants. It feels very curated and deliberately chosen.
I like this guy, like his apartment, like this video. He is very open and positive
Yes yes yes more of this, so nice to talk about the budget and such a nice bloke

This might not get as many views as some of the other videos but this is SO much better

The gentleman has done a great job. Dad did good with the tiling also.

Thank you for release the Shaun chapter 2.
We love it❤❤❤❤❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Fra, il tuo vibe é fighissimo! Sweet pad e buon studio!
Loved this! This is exactly what this channel used to be about. Not those lifeless apartments of rich blokes with zero personality 😭
I really like the insulation part!
It is very inspiring and useful because there are many technical details about the renovation.
First video where I want to hang out with the person
I love that you followed the original tour with this deep dive on the process and cost - as someone is just starting their own renovation, this has been incredibly insightful, inspiring and motivating - I am going to try to embrace the can-do attitude!
very cool, down to earth, no-nonsense place. cheers, mate!
Love all the details. Feels like more authentic even it has Samsung part.
Geezah's got so much personality this was such a fun watch, feels so much more authentic

This guy seems like a guy I could have a beer with. And lovely renovation too!
beautiful place, i especially love the pistachio green. you have great friends! also- what's the name of the sofa? MONDO? who makes it?
The sofa is Monde!
The pistachio green is such a great choice-it really stands out. And yes, the sofa is from MONDO. It’s a stunning piece.
Even though he stuck on a really strict budget, the renovation ended up looking top-notch!
This video format is so much more fun to watch!
Ugh this guy what a heart throb. But also really dig the space glad they’re diving into this
this is my favourite one so far. i am stealing the idea of getting ikea cabinets and custom plywood fronts. also love the holes in the PAX doors instead of handles.
Brilliant comments on the process and life attitude, laughed out loud while watching, thanks :))
this was so much fun!! pleeeease keep this format
You have amazing taste and insight. Love your new digs
Great space, colours snd textures.
Cool dude created a cool living space!
Super niceeeeeeeeeeeee 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 love the colour scheme it’s so warm and inviting and chilll
I’d move the mop but - keep ya food clean 😢

great! didn’t know this was from you guys! release more of this pleaseee
The mushroom 🍄 art is stunning 🤩😊
Love this format!
Wonderful job and really likeable guy!
The man I aspire to be. A simpler setup, a simpler life.
Wonderful 😊 place 😊
Lovely 😍 and fun 😊 video 🎥🙂
"how I live small" - this isn't small. I lived on 50 sqm with a partner for years. other than that, the apartment and the video style is so nice.
Has this video been posted before? I'm having a deja-vu … very nice appartment.
I'm pretty sure I've seen this apartment before, as well. I remember the cool bookshelves.
Great apartment mate!
For me there are missing carpeting. I love carpet they make it cozy ❤
@5:35 that gap between the bench panels seems a like a place where spilled liquids could drain down and become a problem... but considering there is a intentionally drilled hole in the same panel, there is probably some sort of wet protection beneath...?
Amazing!!!!!
oh wow hey neighbor, hello from Allard St
Hmmm I saw this apartment somewhere before...
Me, too. I think on this channel?
Bro is the epitome of Brunswick down to the skincare products 💅🏻
Finally we're talking money!!!

Repeat from a few weeks ago, isn't it?
