  • The Everse 8 is a great speaker with one huge issue that makes it a deal breaker for me. This Alto Professional Speaker (‪@AltoProfessional‬ ) not only half the price but more functional in my opinion. This is exciting functionality to see from a battery-powered speaker at an awesome price.

The magic of mixing on the EV resides in THE APP, insanely intuitive and powerful.
But these certainly look cool, i wonder if the LINK feature sends the MIX OUT, and not just the Bluetooth.

Do play and sing? I saw a video where a performer complained about not feeling like the blend between an instrument and voice sounded as nice as the Bose Pro 1 but he also didn't really mention using the app to dial that in or not in his comparison video. Its seemed kind of like a quick one off comparison. He basically said that the EV8 was just louder but in his opinion not necessarily better tonaly for multiple sounds.

I'm yet to find one review that touches on the sound effects on the Alto. I'd like to hear how good the quality of the sound unit is, as a singer and a guitarist looking to busk, I'd say this is something that would be fairly up on the must list for fellow buskers

Definitely going to opt for everse 8 or 12 in future.

Just discovered this amp. I'm a solo acoustic guitar/singer. I currently use an Alto Troopers, but I don't think they make them anymore, and it isn't battery operated. (and no effects) For the price, this thing looks awesome. No quality/failure issues with my troopers. If I'm in the market for a battery operated amp for busking, this would be it. I won't be buying it anytime soon as I kind of figure...no electricity? Then I'm not playing the gig. But still, this has me thinking. AH!...just realized, no bass/treble on each channel like my troopers. Not good.

Hi Daryl, thanks for confirming. Based on the excellent reviews of the EV, and also the sound power level, I decided to buy one of these, because even two 106 dB SPL speakers doesn't get to 121 dB SPL and it means I can do significantly bigger gigs by public transport around London. EV8 certainly is good.

I was always huge fan of Alto Speakers series Ts 300 ( Sound Quality with Countour) but, they have one big issues; too frequent failures... The new 400 series doesn't sound as good as the 300 series so I bought Alesis Drum Speakers 8 inch and 12 inch. They sound exactly like the ts 300 series from Alto, but unfortunately the failure rate is the same. Yesterday, during a jam session, this 8-inch speaker got damaged. As usual, the tweeter... The Alto 300 Series speakers are the best sounding speakers I have, and I've tested a lot of them. It's a pity that the new TS 400 series does not have the same sound as the TS 300 series. And this failure rate; you never know when it will get damaged during operation. Of course, this speaker looks good and maybe I will check its quality.

    • @DJDarylBennett

I think speakers being pushed like during a dance party are going to experience more failures than a speaker being used in a low volume scenario. And I see this being used more for background music and ceremonies.

Definitely something to consider! This has almost never been a concern in my use case of having a speaker for a wedding ceremony. The very rare scenario where I use it the entire gig like as a satellite speaker, I just plug my speakers (the jbl eon one pro mk1) in for reassurance.
The thump is cool, but doesn't have enough inputs for my workflow.

The Alto is no Bose and EV killer. Even if you're doing a ceremony you still need that SPL. Just as someone mentioned you can control both if you're using the app as well. I rarely touch the speaker I do everything utilizing the app. 108 SPL doesn't cut it for the recessional at a ceremony. The guests are loud/cheering for the newlyweds. They will easily drown out that Alto speaker.

    • @DJDarylBennett
      @DJDarylBennett  9 месяцев назад +3

Thanks for your comment! I definitely think there's room in the market for all the speakers, and the EV does have enticing features that the alto does not. But the alto does have the core functionality and is more cost efficient. That's definitely something to think about the cheering crowd!
I personally hate apps for speaker control at a wedding ceremony... Another piece of gear to bring, another point of failure (connection, reconnection during critical time, device not charged).

To me, a phone is another device, and it is prone to cracked screen during setup, Bluetooth not working, forgetting it in the car, etc... And I like to use my phone to capture footage, looking at the timeline. I've noticed that the speakers (at least my evolve 50s) sometimes needs to reconnect when I switch apps.

    • @djrickyb

I don't know what you are talking about. Ceremonies are quiet! The only cheering happens during the kiss at the end of a ceremony and as the couple is starting to walk out. Your playing music, and they can still hear it during those 5 tto 8 seconds of cheering. I used the original battery powered speaker years ago. It was the American Audio 8 Go BT by itself for ceremonies, and even though the sound quality on that speaker sucked, I had zero problems with it. It had plenty of throw and it was 120 watt and 102 DB. I use a Bose S1 Pro, and have used a DB monitor blasting it, and have never got it to register higher than 103 DB. These DB ratings of 115, 121, 128, 131 etc are all fictitious, and only come in under perfect conditions for a micro second burst. Most DJ speakers are not going to register higher than maybe 111-112 DB on a monitor in a real life situation blasting them at maximum power output.

I have used Alto products since 2013. The only issue I ever had was with the TS212 series. Tweeters blew and I replaced them. $34 tweeters. Alto used real cheap parts on the TS2 series speakers. The heat syncs were of poor design on that series too. They fixed the issue on the 3 series. No problem since 2018 with my TS312s. I still have a pair of TS110A speakers from 2013. Still work great! I use Bose S1 Pros for ceremonies, and love that speaker!

  • @allanpool3824

The Alto is 106 Db, the EV is 121 dB. 15dB difference is HUMONGOUS. This means you would need 16 Alto speakers to make the same volume as the EV. SIXTEEN. This is science. Every time you double the # of speakers it gives you a 3dB gain.

    • @DJDarylBennett
