    I was so depressed and suicidal yesterday and tonight and I started watching these it gets better videos and I found this one and I am so glad I did. I try to explain to my mom that Jesus loves me and gays and lesbians anyways but she is too traditional and religious and so I am glad that there are others who believe in Jesus but are still true to themselves too.

    I believe we are always meant to continue to grow in understanding about God's love in new ways. Just as we now know better to enslave as we did in biblical times, we now know better than to judge others based on sexual preference alone. I am straight but I have deep gratitude for these loving and brave people. The Good News is that it IS getting better,

    Thanks for writing! I'm sorry that you are experiencing condemnation from friends. It helps to know that they are all motivated by fear. The great gift of coming out is that you can begin to learn to live without fear!

    To all that participated in producing this... thanks!
    Thanks for the courage to share your stories and invite others to the table. There is a welcome. There is reconciliation. There is hope. Thanks for being that beacon of hope! Cheers to Yale Divinity School for this!

    I'm glad that these folks came to the knowledge that faith is not based on fear and the need to hide your true self away from the light. I am not of a religious nature myself, but I cannot imagine a supreme being who would ask it's worshipers to hate and despise themselves. As they point up, self knowledge is truly of the divine.

    Hearing these stories brought me great joy and hope. The healing and wholeness that was expressed is a wonderful blessing to everyone and adds to the healing of human consciousness across the globe. It is my belief sharing your true authentic whole healed self is the greatest most holy gift anyone can give to another human being. Dearest brothers and sisters I celebrate your journeys and the divine love you have found within! Hilda

    It is great so see this message from a divinity school. Too often, religion has done nothing but hurt and belittle and encourage hatred and encourage fear of LGBT people. This video shows that it doesn't have to be that way and that it might one day it may be possible for people to stop using their religion as an excuse for their bigotry.

    Clyde, many students at Yale Divinity go on to be ministers or work for church organizations. Many others go on to pursue PhDs in various fields. Quite a few divinity grads work in non-profits, NGOs, policy organizations, and a few even enter the for-profit world and focus on corporate responsibility.

    For many reasons, I spent a long time away from my faith. Eighteen months ago, after never really knowing exactly what it was that made me 'different' from the people around me, I realised I was bi. I'd have expected that, as the daughter of a minister and part of a devout family, I would have had the sort of speech that ends with 'Never darken my door again!' My mum was shocked, but supportive.
    My dad said that whomever I wanted to marry, he'd do it.
    I am a Christian, and I am bi.
    IGB.

    @beckeck06 I am a QPOC and frankly for the most part these days from what *I* have seen skin color makes little difference unless maybe you are living in the middle of nowhere somewhere. That said, it does get better for QPOC too. But you have to work for it, just like everyone else.

    @beckeck06 I go to YDS and know all of these people. Both Alex and Dave are QPOC. And because of the current problems many LGBTQA persons face in seeking ordination within various churches, many students felt like they could not appear in this video because it might endanger their careers.

    This is a beautiful message. These people are beautiful. But what does Christianity have to do with it?

  • @yogaofdevotion
    @yogaofdevotion 13 лет назад

    Yoga of Devotion supports every living human on this earth, period. This piece is beautiful, though it saddens me up when I think that the hetero world has made the gay-lesbian-bi-trans community suffer so much. Its time to WAKE UP, stop pissin' on folks who are different and ACCEPT EVERY HUMAN BEING AS A CHILD OF GOD.

    im curious if some one can explain to me what the end goal is for students in post grad divinity programs like yale's. let's say you don't want to be a priest/ pastor/ religious leader, what would be some of the reasons for attending. thank you for your time.
    it gets better,

    Thanks for watching our video. Why do you think being a homosexual is wrong?

  • @ianwilson3488
    @ianwilson3488 12 лет назад

    The New Testament especially Paul is more concerned with all forms of "sexual immorality" not just in particular homosexuality; taken most conservatively this might mean homosexuals are called to celibacy, however that is most likely not what Paul had in mind. We all are accountable for our own actions as long as it dosent have a major impact on their ministry than we should just view it as their choice.

    Not to be rude, and i'm so sorry if I am entering rudeness, but I thought your reply to them was funny. I thought so because they made it pretty clear why they think being homosexual is wrong.

    I have watched this 3 times. It sucks cause I do not know who I am. I really like girls and guys kind of gross me out. Although I have slept with guys, only because they do not mean anything to me and if I think about asking a girl out I get shy and choke. I can not believe that I might be gay so I say I am bisexual but I struggle with not really knowing who I am attracted too. It should be easy. Women not men but I have never been with a girl not all the way. I like these vids but I hate myself

  • @carterjz

    Does God define homosexual and/or sexual immorality as a sin? What does the Bible teach about God's judgment on unrepentant sin? What does Yale Divinity School teach? Are they the same? If not, which one is truth? My Truth is in Scripture. I heard no Scripture in this message, just people looking for tolerance of their sinful conduct. Let them deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Jesus Christ. He is all we need, not sins like drunkeness, sexual immorality, cussing, or pride.

  • @anakinmcfly
    @anakinmcfly 13 лет назад

    @carterjz Sexual immorality is a sin, yes. Homosexuality, no. The Bible wasn't written in English. Historical and linguistic context is important.

    The ten commandments state this:
    LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR
    THY GAY NEIGHBOUR
    THY BISEXUAL NEIGHBOUR
    THY RACIST NEIGHBOUR
    THY MUSLIM NEIGHBOUR
    THY JEWISH NEIGHBOUR
    Why is there so much talk about hating homosexuals? The bible says to love thy neighbour, so why is there a problem?

  • @themorningego
    @themorningego 13 лет назад

    It's awesome that these people want to stay in the faith and seek God.....but I wish they would take God for who He is and not who they want Him to be. The bible is God's Word and the establishment of His authorship... If you have faith in Him, you'll have faith in His commandments. He loves each and every one of His children no matter what they're going through but demands their obedience because of His great love for them. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 to clear things up. Truth is not relative.

  • @whoamiatm
    @whoamiatm 11 лет назад

    Sin is sin, but as you said, Jesus died for our sins. We are saved. Right after the mentioning of homosexuality is the banning of mixed fibers... If sins (minus the 10 commandments) are basically weighed the same, how is this such a big issue? Raigoon, you need to explore yourself, and you need to accept whoever you are, no matter what. You need to love yourself, no matter what any outside source tells you. You can still be gay and feel G-d's love. He loves us all.

  • @themorningego
    @themorningego 13 лет назад

    @stevevideos2010
    I have many gay friends. I've heard their stories. Some of them still continue to pursue God because they feel a calling on their life to seek His faithful love. Some feel condemned by many who speak with hate in their hearts. That is not the way of God or His Son Jesus. If we do not walk in love, then Christ died for nothing. Everyone has their own purpose and their own walk. I just hope that they find the right one. Judgment is not in our hands, it is in His hands.

  • @fiamma2109

    God is judging you but he is supposed to love you anyways despite the sin. Jesus will forgive anything as long as he knows you love him just as much as he loves you. even a rapist or murder can be forgiven is it wrong what they do yes but how can you compare their sins to those of gays? Gays are not violent. They do not choose to be gay they just are which everyone seems to confuse. You can't make someone straight.
    having someone to love no matter the sex is not wrong. We can be forgiven sins.
