I noticed what is probably a reference in the form of dialogue, unless it was just a coincidence.
Ken to Lui: "You should never become friends with a digimon out of convenience, they are just like us, they are living beings with their own feelings, that's why you two can't be together until you both talk face to face."
Takeru to Ken the day he stopped being the Digimon Kaiser (sub): "Look at these Digimon! Digimon have souls too! They are alive. They are our irreplacable, most important partners.

It just shows how much ken has changed thanks to the 02 cast, he was the perfect choice to give those words to Lui

When it premiered in my country I went to see it wearing a necklace with the crest of Destiny and when I saw the picture of Willis at the end I grabbed my necklace and made an almost audible gasp!!

I was very happy to see Lopmon. We never saw Lopmon in 02 besides that one from The Digimon movie poster that was the wrong color.
I thought Willis/Wallace showed up in Kizuna last evolution on the beach in that short scene after everybody is saved. With Terriermon and Lopmon
I love all the easter eggs when I first watched the movie and saw all the old digi-dustins from around the world I died also at 2:22 it’s really sweet that Davis kept those goggles also just a really good Easter egg

Do you guys remember Dark Gennai from that Digimon Adventure tri. anime film series (sometimes referred to as OVAs) and do you guys agree that it sucks that he's Karma Houdini? I wish he could return in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning so that Davis/Daisuke and the others could defeat him for good and give him the Karma Houdini Warranty that he deserves.
Because that actually isn’t gennai, he just use the avatar of gennai(because gennai is also trapped in the pod like the kids)
@@alinaufal9461 I never said anything about him being the real Gennai, especially since I said he's Dark Gennai (Got the name from Digimon Wiki plus Villains wiki) which makes it obvious that he's the evil doppelganger of the real Gennai. So don't misunderstand okay.
And I think it would have gotten well with the Dark Ocean and Dagomon. So many interesting aspects a 02 movie could have explored... But even more than 20 years later all we get is only more questions rather than answers 🥲

Uggggh when are we going to get a release of this movie!? Why do they always drop the ball with digimon media. So many people would have bought this digitally already. And then probably buy a physical copy too when they finally release that.

no clue, Last Evolution Kizuna still isn't on a streaming app, just paid digital and blu-ray. So I am not optimistic about it showing up on Crunchyroll or Netflix or Hulu
@@thedigiknow I've watched kizuna on bstation some months ago and it's still there till now. Tho i don't know if it's region locked or not so you need to check it yourself.
As for the beginning movie, i can't say if bstation will ever pick it or not.

I mean, I only saw the Loui meeting Ukkomon story, Wich is one of the cutest and favorite scenes
I wouldn't think Homestoasis is the on responsible for the massive rise of digidestined, as that seems like Utter chaos instead of balance, what I think is being hinted at is a being equal to Homeostasis but on the PROGRESS, ADVANCE, EVOLVE side of it, which can take a very dark turn when done, during Xros Wars it was the Villians responsible for that series's digivices, there could be hints of that situation here.
Yggdrasil is canon to the adventure timeline but it got shutdown in tri it was responsible for alphamon and dark genai
@@michaelliggett1622 As I have understood it, Yggdrasil is not quite on Homeostasis's level it is still a computer, at least that is the way I see it
@@irekaias yggdrasil is the host computer that manages and runs the digital world with the royal knights being the security system while homeostasis is the one that maintains the balance of the digital world in xross wars manga homeostasis only acts because yggdrasil went berserk and threatened everything same goes for tri tho in both cases they stop yggdrasil
Their not really a power scale thing going on they both are part of a system that continue the maintenance and existence of the digital world it more like homeostasis Is the check and balance system something goes wrong it corrects the error through whatever means

I think there's a lot of problems caused by having crammed this story into a movie format. We don't learn anyone's motivations, where Ukkomon got it's powers from, and there's not even any working towards that 02 ending, which the Digimon staff still insist is canon. How can they be canon, when Agumon and Gabumon are still, for all intents and purposes, dead?
Also, there's an issue where the movie is trying to address trauma. As someone who has experienced long running trauma myself, and has known people who have experienced a whole lot worse, trauma is NOT that easy to address. This needed to be longer, and the 02 cast, who were in the role of support for this Lui guy, they NEEDED MORE TIME. Trauma can not just be fixed by the good old trope of 'Talk-no-Jutsu'. They had a chance to address that, and didn't.
Thirdly, the removal of the digivices - I know this is supposed to be some symbolic 'removal of the shackles' type thing. But it just does not work, because these devices were not only transformation conduits, but they were also the DigiDestined's only communication device between their partner Digimon over long distances. Now there's nothing.
Now, admittedly, I haven't seen it. Right now, there isn't any way I can see it. But from what people have said about it, it just does not work, it brings no new value to the franchise, or in particular to the first two seasons, which is also how I feel about Kizuna and the reboot. It feels like the people involved are trying to bring about change and don't care whose nostalgia they have to trample over to bring about that change.
Kizuna killed off important characters to make a statement about growing up (which they DID NOT NEED TO DO). This has still not been addressed. The reboot shelved the major developments of the original show to make it the "Tai and Matt show", and later on, it felt like even Matt was just a plot device to make Tai the sole protagonist. It had some fun stuff, the Mugendramon scene was particularly impressive, but we lost a lot of stuff that was important for character growth, and a lot of the other DigiDestined were sidelined. I was particularly upset with how they handled Sora. Yes, I know Sora is a difficult thing to address because her original voice actor is dead. Screwing up her own development and sidelining her is not how you handle it. Bandai do not know what parts of nostalgia make the Digimon franchise work, and this movie just furthers that.
Given how shit Tri and Last Kizuna was and all the negative narrative plot points and holes it brings along with the fan hatred/backlash they just gotta cut line and move on and deem these films elseworld stories and not canon. All of this was not needed.
@@naschaos25jxf57 I agree, but I have to wonder if they're intentionally trolling us by saying 'it's all canon'. Wouldn't be the first time Bandai made highly undesirable comments like that.
I just watched this in theaters yesterday and I was very disappointed with the film. Coming from the previous film this lack everything and the retcon for the digimon and thier bond was just plain awful. Not to mention we get no further information of who was controlling Lui digimon. Like what happen to the events in tri to the last digimon there's more questions then answers
Yep in my official review I was not a big fan of the movie. This video was not a "review" so i tried not to let my disappointment show
The 02 movie would've been better without the 02 cast. If it were a stand-alone movie revolving around Lui, it'd have been way better.

I see "Digimon Adventure 02 The Begining" as average. It's not perfect noir terrible.
I prefer to treat 02 like it never happened. Had some cool stuff, Ken was a very interesting character and I thought it was gonna be cool to see more Dagomon, but then they dropped that plot thread in favor of far less interesting ones. I haven't heard much good about the 02 movie.
