Until proven otherwise, I am taking this companion trailer as a marketing ploy to pull in more of the younger crowd; by invoking stuff like Marvel, Fortnight, and Arcane. And just to clarify, cause a lot of people reacting to this havent seen all the posts from the devs, Rook (you) will be able to romance all the companions. There will not be any restrictions based on gender or race, like in DAI. So, all companions will basically be bi/pan.
If they can make it like baldur gate 3, then that's fine.
There ain't nothing like getting deep into a Inquisition run and discovering Casandra and Dorian didn't like my female elf inquisitor then having to reroll
I just can’t get into romancing companions that looks like my nieces Pixar movies. Feels super gross.

I seriously was confused when it was revealed to be a dragon age game. This looks like a mmo. Nothing looks dark about it compared to the first three games
I think this trailer is a remnant of the live service multiplayer phase and that it got shafted due to the development issues and the layoffs
It is more about the tone of the game, the choreography, the designs of the main cast! I thought Tevinter would be dark and fancy. And the hunt for Solas a heavy layer of menace!

for me it's definitely Harding then Lucanis. I'm hoping a few of our older companions pop up and we can do something like DA Keep again to adjust the worlds lore to our last choices
@@Blerdly Maybe the companions in past games will make some sort of cameo, even though they might look a bit older with some wrinkles and grey hair.

You getting with everybody, god I wish I could say the same. I didn't find anybody attractive besides as usual Varric, but he isn't a romance option. While the necromancer looks like Dorian in their 50s, both same Mage class, and tevinter too, just silver daddy Dorian clone smh lol.
It looks like Sea of Thieves Teen raring, doesn't look like a Mature 17 game, zero blood, dark fantasy visuals.
they dropped a snipped of the gameplay and it looks and feels like DA. I just think this trailer was really really out of tone for the universe. Tomorrow should clear it up hopefully
@Blerdly that gameplay changed my mind a lot yes and saw loads of info from devs so am excited. Even if it was bad, I'd still get it, I did enjoy DA2 even with its massive issues.

Agreed, I'm hoping the goofeyness is only for this specific trailer and the tone of the game is traditional Dragon Age

You have to take into consideration that NO Dragon Age trailer has ever been a 1 to 1 in tone comparison to its respective game. This companion trailer is absolutely a marketing ploy to pull in more younger gamers that grew up on stuff like Marvel and Fortnight. Have no fear, I highly doubt Bioware would give us something so freaking cartoonish as a game. Fans would riot, and to a certain degree already are.

No. While the music choices were suspect for some people, the tone of those trailers were on point for the feel of the game.
It doesnt make sense to bait and switch the zoomers with fortnite trailerand then just pull the rug and give us a dark fantasy setting.
You alienate the fans who have been here with this trailer, or you alianate the new blood you are hoping to capture... its lose lose @@nininoona
yeah it seems like @ninil1562 is right about the marketing for this. They dropped a teaser of the gameplay on twitter and it's what we're familiar with. This was definitely for the younger generation which is both wild and dumb since its been 10 years and most of them wouldn't be familiar with the franchise or the bait and switch the trailer set up by giving off a fun DnD vibe then suddenly Darkspawn flaying people alive
