I would love for him to visit the Rust Belt and interview the disadvantaged residing there. Ask them how losing their jobs to other countries has affected their communities. Maybe he can visit West Virginia, where life is just as hard and dangerous as cities due to the drug epidemic and loss of jobs. Poor white people is something the media never talks about. If the MSM acknowledged poor whites exist, their entire narrative woild collapse.

Great job demystifying 3rd and 5th ward. In Houston we often talk about these neighborhoods as if they're warzones and you're making it clear that they're troubled but filled with real people who are living under stressful conditions.
@@boofert.washington2499 The children that have to grow up in the area because their parents can't afford to move don't control the conditions, but do have to learn to survive in a neighborhood that has more opportunities to get you involved in drugs or crime than it does to help you achieve the success to get out of the neighborhood or make a positive change. Too many people in these neighborhoods are also trapped in a system where even if they're avoiding drugs and crime, then they're most likely making enough just to maintain their house and aren't going to have the resources to also bring the community together to actively stop the issues that make these places so hostile to grow up in.

I know it’s a dangerous place but Brandon shows you come with respect and openness even the some of the most dangerous places in the world will pay that respect back to you. Not to make light of what life must be like there, but it’s genuinely wholesome to see.
That’s why I love Houston man. I haven’t been there much but I’m a trucker and I’m all over TX and the friendly attitude you feel there is very prevalent compared to Austin and Dallas. Even the most dangerous part of Houston is full of respectful and kind people.
it is WILD to me how big media makes these places out to be, and then a lanky young white man walks in and has a wonderful time with an entire community of people forgotten about and left to fend for themselves. I grew up in Houston, and had friends in 2nd & 3rd ward. I know one guy who was robbed at knife point, but in general Houstonians are good, friendly people who reciprocate respect when it’s given.

My bf who is not black (he is half asian and half white) has friends in 5thward and hangs out with them all the time. The people there seem friendly, and were even more friendly when they found out I was black LOL
Alief and Missouri City have gotten more rough than the wards nowadays because gentrification. i’ve done work for multiple gay couples in 5th ward lmfao.

I worked for a roofing company in Houston. My sales were struggling so they tossed me an easy sale to help out and of course it was in 5th ward. The homeowner was really nice but I had to go back a couple times and you best believe I was carrying.

I'm NW Houston about 25 miles away from there, but am in town a couple of times a month for games, shows or local eats etc. I've walked over town and gotten off buses/metrorail in some shady areas to catch a hole in the wall eatery or comedy show. Show some respect and you'll be shown respect

When I was a little kid, we lived down in Houston for a time. Those wards were bad way back in those days, too. My dad was a workman who did business sometimes in those areas. I went with him during the summer while school was out. No one ever caused him any problems because he went there, did the job, and departed promptly.

You should visit some of the west side neighborhoods in San Antonio, Texas. (Lincoln Courts, Alazan Courts). Lots of random bad neighborhoods in my city. I mean I dont advise it but it's a place a i grew up in that's also a pocket of poverty and crime. I think bringing this to light would help people understand that people really live in this hell and is a prime example of inequality and bad public housing.
My family moved around a lot when I was a kid. Alazan Courts has also been bad for a very long time. Didn't live in that specific area, but I remember that name from the San Antonio news back in the day. I guess some things never change.
I’m sure he would if he had anyone he knew there to escort him ect, but ya San Antonio is up there on most crime filled city in Texas. I had a pretty close friend from childhood go down there to meet someone he knew in prison for like a job or some shit and got gunned down soon as he made it to the said area, dnt know what part but him and 2 others were all killed in a drive by walk by type of deal, and get this he literally just got out of prison doing 8years! He wasn’t out for longer than like 15 days and got laid down. His brother and mom heard it stemmed from some type of beef when he was locked up and basically got set up to come to Homies hometown caught him and took him down and 2 other basically innocent dudes just there to give my friend a ride man, super tragic i dnt think they ever arrested anyone either and this was like 2018-19
I remember going there a couple times. Im also from the Northside of Houston but a different part called Acres Homes probably 10 miles west of Fifth Ward. I thought we were in bad conditions until I went down to the Bloody Nickel but even after all that i still saw many smiling faces. I’m Muslim so I visited the mosque over on Hirsch Rd loved the community. Nawfside for life.

You should visit some of the west side neighborhoods in San Antonio, Texas. (Lincoln Courts, Alazan Courts). Lots of random bad neighborhoods in my city. I mean I dont advise it but it's a place a i grew up in that's also a pocket of poverty and crime. I think bringing this to light would help people understand that people really live in this hell and is a prime example of inequality and bad public housing.
My family moved around a lot when I was a kid. Alazan Courts has also been bad for a very long time. Didn't live in that specific area, but I remember that name from the San Antonio news back in the day. I guess some things never change.
I’m sure he would if he had anyone he knew there to escort him ect, but ya San Antonio is up there on most crime filled city in Texas. I had a pretty close friend from childhood go down there to meet someone he knew in prison for like a job or some shit and got gunned down soon as he made it to the said area, dnt know what part but him and 2 others were all killed in a drive by walk by type of deal, and get this he literally just got out of prison doing 8years! He wasn’t out for longer than like 15 days and got laid down. His brother and mom heard it stemmed from some type of beef when he was locked up and basically got set up to come to Homies hometown caught him and took him down and 2 other basically innocent dudes just there to give my friend a ride man, super tragic i dnt think they ever arrested anyone either and this was like 2018-19

I remember going there a couple times. Im also from the Northside of Houston but a different part called Acres Homes probably 10 miles west of Fifth Ward. I thought we were in bad conditions until I went down to the Bloody Nickel but even after all that i still saw many smiling faces. I’m Muslim so I visited the mosque over on Hirsch Rd loved the community. Nawfside for life.
