Unfortunately D.R Hartley (married name Diana (Hartley) Knodi died tragically. She was killed by a "tame" lion while working on the Hollywood epic about professional animal catchers, Hatari. On November 1, 1960, Diana Knodi entered the lion's cage and it sprang on her. It bit her three times, on the chin, throat, and chest, then mauled her to death. White hunter Bill Ryan, who was on the film set nearby with stars John Wayne, Hardy Kruger, Red Buttons, and the actress Capucine, commented, "Diana should never have got into the cage with that lion. She didn't have a chance." This is very tragic
Arlene Francis (1907 -- 2001) was Armenian American, her birth name is Arline Kazanjian. It took me a number of years to find that out, because she could easily pass for Jewish.
Actually Bennett's question of whether or not Mrs. Hartley (the African Big Game Hunter) could perform her job with equal agility in the United States and Ireland should have gotten a yes. It would be a rather povertous existence, however.
I agree with Joe that the question calls for a comparison, but wouldn’t the US have much more big game? Wouldn’t Ireland have none, making the answer no.
I think Mrs. Hartley has spent too much time in the hot sun. She even noticeably paused re identifying her initials. Let's hope she doesn't pause before a charging rhino!
I agree that she looked nervous from the start. Poor woman had never seen the show before, and John contradicted her on three of her first four answers. From then on, she was shell shocked, I think, and tried too hard, as Arlene suggested to John, to come up with the answers of which he'd approve. This was one time he should have jumped in and answered for the contestant, which he frequently did in future shows.
Her hair may have been red and her eyes may have been blue, but she is not at all pretty. To see more attractive women look two seats to the left, or look look in the mirror
@@igkoigko9950Arlene does look pretty this night but Dorothy can look attractive in the years moving forward. Not sure what she did but she looked attractive imo.
1956 was a stand out year for this show hands down.
Mrs. Hartley is the most astonishingly dense and unresponsive contestant I have seen on WML.
Mrs. Hartley, some people get what they reap.
How many of us did our best James Mason impersonation after discovering he was on the panel? (I couldn't stop! lol)
Mrs. Hartley is the first contestant I have seen who answered "No!" when asked if she knew how we keep score.
She didn't seem to be playing witha a full deck of cards.
James Mason! Quite the coup for the panel!
Mrs. Hartley seemed to take most of the questions so literally, resulting in many boring conferences. Was glad when that segment was over.
She was utterly hopeless
Game hunter is an occupation they wouldn't feature now.
Thank goodness.
Why not?

One commentator’s tragedy, is another commentator’s idea of karma. Killing animals for sport is sadistic
@@stevekru6518 The practice is soulless.
Mrs.Hartley is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I was two years old. Now I am an old man. 😢😢😢😢😢
Claudette really seemed lovely.
George stevens one of the greatest
Am I wrong for getting pissed off at a big game hunter that appeared on a game show almost 70 years ago... Yoyo lady was a close second.
Arlene Francis (1907 -- 2001) was Armenian American, her birth name is Arline Kazanjian. It took me a number of years to find that out, because she could easily pass for Jewish.
Mr Mason brings class to the panel with out humor
Some guys would whistle at anything. 😅

C'mon get serious Joe, nobody uses that word (povertous). Try impecunious, beggarly, impoverished instead!

Colbert had a better time here than when Groucho Marx was on the panel.
Claudette Colbert seemed like such a sweet woman.
I was born on this day too.
I was born on September 30, 1956
I don’t think the hunter understood the object of the game is for the person to avoid saying yes.

George Stevens did many comedies before World War Two. Afterwards, he made more serious ones.
Mrs. Hartley...earth to Hartley...not going to Africa with her!!!
She looked panicked when she first came in...
I think she was very nervous as most of us would be.

killing animals for spots is never entertaining
Yeah it is.
Dorothy must be a red head here. She had blue eyes.looks pretty. Miss yo yo is mising her string.
