This game ended up being for the division . And the difference between hosting Dallas in rd 2. Or playing at the Giants in the wildcard!

By the end of the 1984 season it was obvious the Rams were in desperate need of a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback. Randall Cunningham would have fulfilled that need, if only they had selected him in the first round of the 1985 NFL draft. But they passed him over, and the Eagles got him instead.

In a sense, Rams did finally draft a future, Pro-Bowl caliber QB albeit maybe a few seasons too late to satisfy disgruntled, impatient, underpaid superstar RB Eric Dickerson's wishes by 1986-87 in Jim Everett. Everett blossomed into the Pro Bowl QB Dickerson never had and complained about from 1983-86 and if they had drafted Randall Cunningham, I don't know if he transforms from a project QB coming out of UNLV in 1985 to being the NFL's "Ultimate Weapon" by 1988. Cunningham's main issue in Philly was a HC who a complete defensive-minded coach who never invested much time in building up the offensive firepower other then telling Randall that to win games, he'd have to make 4-5 excellent plays a game and IMHO, never realized just how loaded his weapons were: future HOF WR in Cris Carter (but in the 1980's still had a drug problem), Pro Bowl WR's Mike Quick and TE Keith Jackson, and a damn good, very underrated FB in Keith Byars who played for well over a decade and ended his career losing Super Bowl XXXI with NE in 1996.

Gary Green...Maybe the biggest pick 6 ever by the Rams and all you see are a few hugs n high fives. There was none of the idiotic run 90 yards to the other end zone to strike poses and do moronic / scripted celebrations.

Dieter Brock was a good quarterback and a tough competitor

If that were true he would have lasted for more than one season.

The Rams won but their future tormentor Jerry Rice had a career breakout game
