    Winners: Djokovic: 73; Nadal: 73
Unforced Errors: Djokovic: 42; Nadal: 42
Total Points Won: Djokovic: 195; Nadal: 191
This was an incredibly close match - almost impossible for it to be closer. When these two are BOTH at the top of their game or near it*, there's almost nothing to separate them on any surface, although there is definitely an edge for Djokovic on hard courts and for Nadal on clay.
This match was the third in a trilogy across all 3 surfaces (Australian Open 2012, French Open 2013, Wimbledon 2018) where the loser had a huge chance to win it (Rafa was up 4-2, 30-15 in the 5th set in AO 2012, Djokovic was serving to go up 5-3 in the 5th set in FO 2013, and Rafa had 5 break points in the final set of this match).
It's an amazing rivalry and a privilege to have witnessed. It's a shame that over the past few years Nadal had a slump in 2015-16 and Djokovic had one in 2017-18, otherwise we would have seen even more matches like this one, Rome 2018, Rome 2016, US Open 2013, French Open 2013, Australian Open 2012, US Open 2011, etc., etc., ....
    * Anyone saying Djokovic wasn't near the top of his game in this match is an idiot. This is still his best match on grass since 2015. Played way better here than in the 2019, 2021 or 2022 finals

You said a lot of things that are true, but still there is one huge thing separating them, and that's HEAD. Djokovic has mental power above all the other players, that's why he won in Australia, and that's why he won it again in Wimbledon. Just imagine that every time he plays against Nadal or Federer, crowd is against him, and he STILL manages to prevail that huge barrier and win the match in the most clutches way possible. And here he is just couple of months after big surgery, on the top, again !
Djokovic is the greatest of all time. Right behind him we have Federer, and then there's Nadal.

      ‘Run in’ your new car
There are a lot of ideas out there about running in new engines. The hundreds of components that make up a car need time to settle and ‘running in’ is believed to be the best way to do this.
Sometimes the running in process will be described in your owner’s manual, but the basic idea is to put your new car through its paces with varying loads in different driving conditions (for example, stop-start city driving and freeway driving), using all gears at changing speeds.
Just don’t abuse the engine for the first 1,500km or so.
      That means:
      Don’t over-rev the engine.
Try to keep engine speed somewhere between 2000 rpm and 4000 rpm.
Don’t keep a constant speed, though, accelerate and decelerate often.
Don’t idle for more than a few minutes at a time.
      Please, don’t tow a trailer.

If Nadal had won the match (and we can suppose he would have won the final) he would have a 3rd Wimbledon. He would have tied Novak with 3 Wimbledon and would have probably finished ranked 1st that season. Could have been 3 years in a row for Nadal. It could have changed how we see those rivalries. I believe that match was the best novak has ever played on clay and in the end it was a debilitating loss that affected him mentally for months afterwards which I also believe factored in to why rafa was able to beat him in the us open final later that same year. My view on Novak's game:
#1 He knows where to put the ball to exert maximum pressure on the opponent. It's like he sees the court in lots of different smaller zones.
#2 He has the technical ability to hit those shots.
#3 He knows his return is a big weapon as it's the earliest stage which allows him to change momentum of the point in his favour.

But congrats to Djokovic for this amazing win and I was thoroughly entertained this match and the 5th set made me frustrated as a Nadal fan to see him mniss chances to win but props to Djokovic for his mental strength and fight

    • @turinturambar501
      @turinturambar501 Год назад +1

People forget how good Nadal was on grass. Now it's all Federer (of course) and Novak, but Nadal from 2006 to 2011 (he didn't play in 2009) chained 5 Wimbledon finals winning 2 of them. Playing 3 straight finals agaisnt Prime Federer. Nadal was already considered top 10 grass players ever.
Sure he had a low period in 2012-2017, but then the last 3 times he's played he's reached the semifinals, almost winning to Djokovic in 2018, playing great against Federer in 2019 and withdrawing due to injury in 2022.
Those that were there will remember that Novak wasn't considered better than Nadal in grass until 2019 or so. There's not that much difference, althought I think Novak's game is better on grass. And all respect to the legend, but Wimbledon 2021 and 2022 shouldn't count as much as, say, 2018 and 2019; uncomparable.
