It really is mind boggling how they traded Russ, JTA, Jones and Nunn into DLo, Beasley, Vando and Rui. Traded a bunch of short mostly bench warmers for athletic, 3 and D roleplayers and a allstar reserve caliber PG
This the kinda shit that make u think the league is scripted. No complaints here, looking like a good read so far.
Only vando is really good, remember dlo in last years playoffs? Beasley and rui are just roleplayers.
@@maartenvz can’t do well when your dumb coach wants to run the offense through Kat and Ant’s iso game. Y’all not talking about the dead or alive play-in game where DLO delivered a masterpiece? Ungrateful Wolves fans are the reason why y’all stunk. Traded DLO only for him to help the 13th seed to overtake y’all on the standings
dont forget mamba
@@ChanGardeningToolPark exactly what I was thinking bc how did they get vando for pretty much free
What is crazy to me is, that literally everyone who knows a bit of basketball knew, that getting Westbrook on this team would not be a good idea. Then they suck for nearly all season, finally trade him for a bunch of solid role players and somehow start winning games, what a miracle. Turns out Lebron and AD are good enough players to build around, who would have thought!
Should I just apply to be a GM or what is the thought process in the front offices here...?
I can only assume LeBron and AD pushed for it, Pelinka had the Hield trade lined up and somebody else whether Jeanie or the Rambi pushed him to do it after LeBron and AD persuaded them it was the right move. We're lucky that trade didn't completely fuck us over cus it's easily the worst trade the Lakers ever made in franchise history.
@@CrazyxEnigma I think the same, but still I don't get why ... Westbrook? As far as I'm familiar, LeBron and AD aren't super close friend with him, he wasn't all that impressive with the Washington Wizards and he was never a good "fit" with Bron and AD. Add to that Russ didn't want to be on the bench for so long, I don't see how anyone agreed with him that coming to LA would be a smart idea for all parties involved.
@@navonmyhand7999 Westbrook was at best choice #3. They courted Lillard, he refused. They wanted DeRozan and that wasn't going to happen, Spurs haven't made a trade with the Lakers since 1990. They're might have been other stars they sought but idk for sure.
lebum forced LA to get westbrick
I just dont understand how gm's cant see those obvious things
Reaves actually was supposed to be drafted by the Pistons in the second round, but he turned it down and intentionally went undrafted because he wanted to come to the Lakers.
That right there is a chad move, and just shows how fearless this kid is at embracing the spotlight.
Lol Pistons are a hopeless org. I think most players wouldn’t want to go there unless they’re top lottery picks
Funny how last year, it felt like Brooklyn was the scariest low seed in history. That didn't end up happening lol
We also thought that the year before with the Lakers, but the Lakers were hammered by injuries once they were up 2-1 against the Suns.
was looking for this comment 🎯 heard all of this bull last year about Brooklyn and how nobody wanted to play them and what happened? 😂😂
@@johnl8634 Chris Paul was injured first quarter of game 1 and played with 1 arm and missed games. Lakers were beaten by a superior team. They were a flawed roster and true 7 seed
@@Crono454 they were easily the number 1 seed before injuries So Lakers weren’t a 7th seed team
@@Crono454 An arm injury is a lot less debilitating than a leg injury which both LeBron and AD had. Even take the Lakers out of the equation any other West team healthy that year the Suns lose.
If Andy Hoops is making a video on your team, you know you're doing something good.
or bad
or horribly wrong
He just made a video about the Mavs.
Hahahshsshhahhaha Lakers are first round exits.
Most of his videos are negative so not really
I'm most happy for Reaves. He earned his spot in the NBA
Am I a delusional homer for thinking he has legitimate star potential? Reaves is better than I ever expected he'd be this year.
@@CrazyxEnigma nah hes been balling
@@CrazyxEnigma bro I think he can be
@@CrazyxEnigma You're not wrong really, but for me he can at best be an above average or even an elite roleplayer, maybe even a 6th Man of the Year candidate at his ceiling (putting it into context tho, I don't think you can really call him a roleplayer rn. He's been one of the go to guys for the team and he's delivering consistently).
The fact he literally has prime Harden's skills of drawing fouls and getting to the line is already insane. Bro is already a pretty good shooter too. This kid literally has the 6th best true shooting percentage in the entire league for crying out loud.
If the Lakers won this year, lebron would easily have the most interesting rings in nba history. 3-1 comeback ring, covid/bubble ring, and a low seed ring? Damn lol
Another that included the greatest shot in nba history with Ray Allen
Don’t forget the headband game that ended with the Ray Allen shot.
As far as I dislike lebron. I can't see any way for someone to downplay that and achievement if it happened. I think it makes a another argument for lebron. Dont forget how the lakers in 2020 were 5th as favourites and people hyped up the clippers as the 96 bulls and shit.
A real interesting set of chips.
Getting Vando was so key, that guy has amazing basketball IQ and actually plays proper defense.
I'm really looking forward to the Lakers vs. Clippers game today.
Here's something that all of the RUclipsrs are missing. The Lakers have the third best record since the trade deadline. Lebron has only played in 3 of those games and Davis has missed 4 or 5 of those games. This team was sub 500 all season long and are now 6th in the west. This is the best mid season trade that I've ever seen in the NBA.
yeah it's insane to think about. they seem to have gelled quickly and built up a great locker room, everyone is playing their roles and performing to the best of their abilities. taking the nagging injuries to bron and ad into account this team is a contender
There's only 3 I can think of off the top of my head that were more impactful. In 95 the struggling Rockets got Drexler from the Blazers and won a chip. In 04 Pistons got Sheed and he helped them win the title and in 08 Lakers got Pau and they made the finals, then won in 09 and 10. I'm certainly happy, Lakers got a lot better and we run it back no crazy Kyrie holding our franchise hostage.
@@CrazyxEnigma you just named 3 really good trades that resulted in championships and you're saying these random ass midseason trades that haven't resulted in anything besides a spot in the play-in is one of the best trades of all time? Jesus f'in christ
@@davidp420 Considering Westbrook is the worst trade in franchise history, getting back what we got was a god damn miracle imo. Too early to say if it helps the Lakers win anything more than a play in game but like I said if it means we don't go after crazy Kyrie I'm happy.
@@davidp420those teams were already good before the pieces. That’s his point goofy
This is why I love the play-in. Without it there's a very good chance the Lakers choose to shut it down for the year.
Not really. This season the teams between 5-13 were close in record anyway. If anything this makes things more difficult for the lakers cause they might’ve been content with being the 7th seed right now whereas they are still fighting to get 6th
How so? If anything playin is extra headache for them. Without play in they are firmly in 7th seed now.
Came back here after the Lakers advanced to the Western Conference Finals beating the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors. Anyone else present here? I LOVE LA!!!
Rob Palenka turned the Lakers season around he revamped their roster from 13th seed to 7th seed he deserves all the credit
Andy hoops hasn’t disappointed in more than 4 year. Consistently great vids bro
One of the most hyped playoffs in recent years, I'm pumped
So scary!!!! Going to OT with utah and getting beat by the clippers
They were on the back to back
than man games VORP stat was really interesting and insightful. I'd be interested to know how that correlates to playoff success historically and if it can be used as an identifying factor for sleepers or alternatively, teams who are doomed.
Yo I really listen to all your videos great detail, great job . Do u kno other youtubers like cainecali , Wilson sy , i would love to c yall do a video together or jus talk basketball period. Keep up the great work!!!
Came back here after the Lakers beat the Grizzlies in the first round? Anyone else present here? I LOVE LA!!!
Still waiting and waiting for the video about the pre-LeBron Cavs and the newly agreed CBA.
1:17 lol I love how Lebron throws his arms in the air like "come on AD how did you get injured this time?"
Strong video, thank you Andyy
Ty Andy for the vid the lakers are my favorite team my whole life you do not make many vids about the lakers in my opinion but ty
Few months ago, individuals like myself wrote the Lakers off. Now, they turn it around🏀. Props to Rob Pelinka and the Front office.
is funny how y'all giving alll this credit to pelinka but if the trade wouldn' have worked y'all would be blaming Bron 😂😂🤦🏽♂️
Pelinka doesn’t deserve any credit cause they’re the ones who put themselves in this hole to begin with.
Went from a championship team to a lottery team within a year due to poor trades
props to the refs
@@joestack1222 you talking as if every fan base don't do that. Gotta blame someone, who? The ball boy? Accepting it for what it is, is anti-climactic. As fans we need to theorize where it went wrong and make excuses for why we aren't better than rivals. I do it, you do it everybody do it.
@@joestack1222 get off LeGM's 🥩
Russ is just not cutting it because right after trading him away the Lakers play some of the best basketball. D'Lo is the right fit for this team in his return and Austin Reaves has been stellar.
You know what they say in the words of Rudy Tomjanovic: "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion."
Is Westbrook a player who’s at his best with the ball in his hands?
And that is a great quote by a coach who deserved to make the 75 team more than Doc Rivers.
@@fortynights1513 Russ was simply that arrogant and has been ever since his MVP season after KD left him which is why it's not a coincidence he fell off after winning his lone MVP.
It's funny cause i think Westbrook is actually player better now as well. Win-win?
This Lakers bunch is far from a champion. 2020 is ancient history.
DLo was terrible in the playoffs last year
Those '95 Rockets also made a major midseason trade.
A reason why this parallel is being drawn, it also makes for a great story and drama. As we know NBA is a soap opera for men.
As a Nuggest fan I had a few hopes after I saw the resurged Lakers and it was that they somehow miss the playoffs (not happening now) or they make it to the 6 seed. I have never rooted for the Lakers to win as much as I have these last few weeks
People said this about the Nets last year…
I'll watch this after the play in is over
These playoffs are gonna be insane!
Thanks Andy!!
i'll be sure to come back to this video once the playoffs start
Andy Definitely Hoopin w the consistent uploads🔥
Love this content
Man , if Lakers kept some of their Championship year players. They would've have been even scarier. Guys like , Caruso , Howard , Kuzma , and Rondo would give them a solid bench.
😭😭😭😭😭 You tripping today bro 😂
That boy Reaves was cold in Oklahoma
I’d love to seen Bron sneak another chip this year. I don’t think it’ll happen but looking around the league he’s got a fair shot
LeMVP will sweep Durfraud and the cp0 suns
glaze any harder?
Casual
Cp3 is overrated as fuck and Lebron can undoubtedly pull up an upset for sure
😂 wtf
LeInjuryProne and Street Clothes will get swept
Yall said the same thing about the Nets last year 🤦♂️
difference is this team actually plays defense not to mention arguably the greatest ever is on the team
OOoOoo so scary 😵💫😵💫😵💫
They said the same thing when the Lakers played Phoenix a few years ago and the Suns rolled them in 5, and that's even after the Lakers won Game 1 and everyone was saying it was over.
D Lo and Vando gotta be locks to stay with the team long term while in contention
This video aged well
7:23 last person who brought excitement to LAL was Alex Caruso. Not so long time ago.
i love andy hoops' other channel REAL LIFE LORE
Andy Hoops setting the Lakers up for slander LOL i see what you're trying to do, man.
I’ll wait for the rubber hits the road on this one, yes they look competent. Though it all means nothing until playoffs hit. I wanna see AD make it through a series.
DLo is definitely the X factor here. If he plays like the Allstar that he was, Lakers could go all the way.
DLo is inconsistent and his defense will be a huge liability
I feel like I saw very similar vids about the Nets last season supposedly being “scary” as a lower seed
Funny how this happens huh
They didn’t have the depth this lakers team has
@@jacobsmithr1819 yeah, hopefully this Lakers team doesn’t get swept so content creators don’t get embarrassed/defensive like they were when the Nets got swept. It was so funny watching them go back on their takes and then make excuses for the Nets
@Justice Solis here's the problem with that tho, in the postseason depth is much less important because the main guys on the team normally play for so much longer. Depth still matters, but not nearly as much in the playoffs
Unlike what most people say, the truth is the regular season matters because the seeding usually tells who takes the chip.
We’re 16-7 since the trade deadline after last night’s win
As a lakers fan it’s crazy how AD is the only superstar to be called glass lmfao. We don’t do this with Durant Kawhi zion or even Giannis and embiid who both have missed double digits games this years and last year and year before thag as well. Some ridiculous stuff lol
Because he's in a Lakers jersey that's the only reason why. These guys would be brown nosing him like crazy if he were on any other team talking about how tough he is playing through his foot injury. 🤷 What can you do? Lakers haters live more for us failing than their own team's success.
@@CrazyxEnigma Yup and also the fact that the fan base I’m in has a bunch of idiots that thing Kobe is their god and that they have to play through injuries all the time which in reality is an atrocious idea
@@arjunvivekraj8758 That too lol. Our fan base being the largest also has the most morons. I'll always love Kobe but you can't judge every player to his standards, things are different now.
@@CrazyxEnigma exactly people think that all our players have to be top 10 players oat which isn’t realistic lol
The big difference here is rockets had Rudy T who was a very underrated head coach. Lakers have an assistant coach in Darvin Ham trying to masquerade as head coach and failing miserably at it. Main reason why lakers have been successful since trade deadline is the dominant play of AD, a revelation in AR, and the cleverness of DLo. I felt like the lakers still left a lot on the table because of the horrible coaching of Darvin Ham
The Lakers started 2-10. Since then they've won 61% of their games, which is the equivalent of a 50 win team. It's not a schedule fluke either, as some of those losses were to teams with bad records like the Blazers and Jazz..
I can think of at least 4-6 games they blew at the end by one bad possession. If they finished half those games the way they should have, they'd be a 4th or 5th seed.
That was the case in 2021 as well, they just happened to lose to the finals team that year
No it wasn’t, they lost AD and last season they didn’t even have him.
In that playoffs AD got hurt and LeBron was on a bum ankle. Lakers or any other team the Suns faced, If they were healthy? Suns lose.
Couple of years ago, they also said Brooklyn was the scariest low-seed team. But got swept by Boston on the 1st round.
Didn’t you say this about the Brooklyn nets last year when they were the 7th seed then the Celtics ended up sweeping them
Honestly, I think all the low-seeded teams are pretty scary. I still don't think the 1-3 seeds are going down though.
Ad is putting up those stats in how many games?
History always repeats itself
From this thumbnail i just realized how AD put on weight for the last couple of years
AD stats is really pretty good. Imagine if he is playing more games than this. Might even win the mvp.
We said this about KD Net last year. Well.....
Lakers both kept Lebron happy and Somewhat secured their future
healthy, hungry and well motivated AD is something else totally. I mean, thats why Lakers took him,and just look his first and second seasons in Lakers.
If AD was consistent with his offensive output he'd be in MVP talk, been waiting for him to take the keys to the franchise from LeBron and I'm hoping he will if he doesn't keep getting freak injuries.
At the end of the regardless of whatever team wins it all, I wanna see great basketball
Here we go again 😂😂
Tbf, that's what people were saying about the Nets last year, and we know how that turned out.... We will see but go Suns!
This is different because they don’t have a Kyrie type of player being a cancer.
@@bandito241 That's true but Kyrie played in the playoffs last year when they got swept
Lol we said this about Brooklyn last year!! And look how that went!!
We've heard this before in 2021.
All those Free throw is truly scary
On the one hand, sports media (ESPN) *really* wants the Lakers to win (probably so they don't have to travel in the middle of America for an NBA Final). On the other, credit where it's due; some of the trades really paid off.
Agreed, except I think the warriors are right there as well. Wiggins is back, anything is possible
At the end of the line, lakers beat Steph curry to become the WCF teams to takeover
Let’s go Lakers!!!🟣🟡🏀this is an exciting team
the pels were ready for that lottery pick a few months back hahaha
They thought they where gonna get the first pick lmao
Pels fans getting what they deserve rn. Don't wish bad shit on another team or it'll happen to yours, karma is a mean bitch.
I thought back in 2014 the 49 win Dirk led Mavs team was a scary 8th seed team.
They were, took the Spurs 7.
That team had good vets like Carter and Odom also had guys like Crowder and added Ellis and marion. It wouldnt be a stretch If they had chandler they might've had a chance. They put up a good fight against san Antonio
@@tj5180 a better fight then the Heat did that playoff series.
I’m here after the game
If teams sag off of guys like Vando or Rui, and/or AD can’t hit from outside, the Lakers are vulnerable to teams like DEN or PHX who are some of the best 3 point shooting teams in the league and have the talent to match the Lakers
Watching this after the Lakers ousted Memphis, AD is that dude.
5:38 that’s what she said lmao 💀
X factors are Vanderbilt, Reaves, Brown, and Ham's influence. I'm certain he's the reason they got Vanderbilt because making good trades was not something the Lakers were capable of prior.
On the other hand, can't be too impressed yet because the West has been weaker this season due to injuries and other things. Gotta see how it goes when teams are game planning for them in the playoffs.
This very thing got said about the 2021 7 seed Lakers. And both LeBron and AD have suffered multiple lower body injuries since then. I'm not too worried.
I actually had Phoenix winning that series even before the injuries. I thought i was going to be wrong but somehow it happened due to that injury
now I'm gonna wait for Mike Korzemba's Lebron James is not Human video 🤣🤣
As a nets fan everyone said the same thing about Brooklyn last year and look how that went lol. Low seeds don't win championships, and they usually don't make it past the first round. Lakers have improved but they still aren't as good as the teams that have been playing how they been playing in the past 20 games all damn season.
Nets had no defense
Feels 2021 vibes
I legit want them to stay at 7th to expose the Grizzlies.
exposed was a fucking understatement bro.
Resigning AR for the Lakers is crucial. They made a mistake by not resigning Caruso and they can’t make the same mistake twice
Reaves will get $10 mil per year from someone, and Lakers will let him walk because they want Kyrie. 😂😂😂
If Reaves isn't brought back Lakers fans will riot.
@@danlower7834 Nah, cuz Kyrie is going to stay with the Mavs. Cuban is going to do everything to make this right with Luka. Reaves is going to stay in LA.
@@CrazyxEnigma I do agree. If I was the Lakers, I would try to have extension talks ASAP. Can't sign a contract now but they have the ability to still match any offer they get and I can see him getting at least 10-12M annually from someone. Lakers should match that.
@@jaycool9480 Cuban didn't do right by the 2011 title team when it came to pay up and let the key guys walk. Same will happen here. Everyone thought Caruso would stick around the Lakers as LeBron's buddy, but it didn't happen. Money talks. Reaves is making $1.5 million and will likely get offers for much more this summer. Lakers have to decide on Russell, Beasley, Hachimura, etc. and will likely try to get Reaves for $5 mil or less and he'll walk for a $8-10 mil a year deal.
Chemistry of season's second half Lakers is above the roof.
It really helps that there's no westbrook to hold the ball and make dumb shots in crunch time
i remember when they said this 2 years ago and they didn’t make it out the first round lmao
After last night this is the first time LeBron and AD have played 5 games in a row together since 1/27/21... Lakers were 21-6 before AD went down and then injury after injury. Basically if this team is healthy this team is likely Finals bound, honestly the biggest obstacle to this outside health is Darvin Ham. He's the worst coach out of all playoff bound teams by a wide margin looking like Doc Rivers 2.0 playing pocketpool most of the time.
So no one gone say how reaves almost turned the ball over at 2:51 huh 😂..no..ok
Last time people claimed that, the lakers lost in 6 in the first round
I do hope they can keep Tom Holland after this season. AR-15's creativity and toughness are much needed in this squad.
I hope they do make a deep playoff run
So you hate basketball. Got it.
@@whobitmyname hell naw 😑. Basketball is my life
Lakers healthy? They will if Ham doesn't fuck it up.
How?
By getting _even more_ foul calls favoring them than they've already had over the last month?
Ever since LeBron's tantrum in Boston they'e been handed FTs far more than their opponent.
But it won't matter. In LeBron's entire time in L.A. he's never got past Round 1 without a huge rest before playoffs start and he's only getting older now...and even worse on D.
@@CrazyxEnigma Im rooting for them to not get before the playoffs even started . Can’t hate on them
LeBron gave Davis some of his "magic healing juice". those "German doctors" really know their stuff.
You know what, I doubt it because I doubt AD wasn’t already in the healing juice. I think he rested enough and took it easy just had a good rehabilitation.
@@bandito241 true. 80-100% of all pro athletes are on something
They are only scary until both their old men get injured again and the team rolls over and sticks its butt up in the air for whoever comes along.
Even with both of them healthy, their upside is a Conference Semi Finals appearance and loss in 6 games to let's say, the Kings.
From 13th seed to the WCF lezzz gooo
Swept
The thing wit AD is that hell look like Wilt Davis one min then turn into “My Name Is Jeff” be afraid to drive into inferior opponents and takes 10 shots he should always be taking 20-25 shots a night no matter what. Also his injury issues.
The really scary part is they look they are really having fun.
The Kings and Grizz want no part of this team, they will lose in the first round, Lakers are indeed scary especially if they are healthy come playoff time
