this is so incredible, he can do what he wants it always sounds natural and simply meant to be like that!! no matter if his fill goes on over the regular 1 it always sounds soo totally cool and fits the song! his drumsound also is the best.
People need to realize that gavin's career in rock has only spanned maybe the last ten years. He's been playing jazz and funk his entire life. His playing is also not what I'd ever consider "brutal". Creative, inspiring, dynamic, and tasteful are all words I'd choose. Not brutal.
you can't really argue about the sound of the set because i've seen vids in which he demonstrated how it sounds without the post processing and that's really only about creating no echo and stuff like that and not so much about sound
it's a piece called quite firm. a good recording of this is on "Live!" by Laurence Cottle. you can get it from his sight. although it's much less funky than this

I like the way this video was edited to "stand still". Really cool.

Simply amazing, I am a deathmetal guy (and drummer), but got to respect the guys like gavin. Supior feel, style, technique, and unmatched groove.
Great allround drummer. Awesome.
Best drummer alive ??? thumbs up if you think so.

haha like the way he flicks the stick at the cymbal at the start of the song.

i was there too ^^
@BrandoWRX Oh hell yeah you got that right!
why this drum sounds PERFECT? XD what drumkit does he use?
In this vid it's a Sonor delite.
Sonor SQ and Zildjian !
3:11... i think my face exploded.
@drnrqsldch
Sonor SQ2 drums. Zildjian Cymbals. Those small cymbals/bells above his hihat he has actually made himself.
anyone know the name of this song? where i can download it or something?
@BrandoWRX
Pete Ray Biggin does ;)
I like the FF3 video version better. Better quality, differen't fills with nuances that just perk the ear.
Must be a Sonor kit.
@ifloegel
