You are my new favorite, in my favorite city, in my favorite neighborhood of said city, doing my favorite things, and being who I might have been if I'd been brave enough to be a single woman in DC after my American Univ. experience in 1992. I was too CHICKEN, though, and fear sends us on sometimes-permanent detours. Today I've watched many of your videos and sort of lived vicariously through you, a bittersweet yet delightful experience. Go on with your bad (brilliant) self, Caroline. All of life leaves us basically unhinged at any given moment; it's what makes us compassionate and human. Keep finding the beauty in every part of your days: the weekly flowers, the wrong coffee table (sorry :-) ), the too-hot real estate guy, the ghost living in that weird cabinet above your closet (!), and even the broken heart that brought you to this place in time. That coffee table is fine...you just need to replace the dresser that is holding up the TV with something minimal and sleek, and the extra visual space you get will balance everything out. Plus having a big square table is great if you want to eat a meal while watching TV or if a bunch of friends are over gives you more room for drinks. Just a thought. ❤

Yeah, no, that table so doesn't jive with the space imo. Everything else is sort of smooth and warm, and then there's this black pointy thing that could be in a space ship. All harsh edges that could cut a B. I agree that something rounder would be nice, maybe an oval? I wonder if there are any baroque-esque coffee tables in existence, you know the ones that are like white and ivory with gold detailing? I have a dresser like that, I've had it since I was a child and I still love it

Lol I had my eye on a really nice vintage one for my apartment, but it was a long rectangle and I had a similar situation with my square coffee, rug, and TV stand. 😅 Opted for a round table. Was def the right choice for the space, but I still think about that vintage piece. 🙃

I quit on coffee table as is because I really used it to hit my legs mostly plus some extra clutter to show… I’ve seen couple who tried no living room table and only used quality side tables… incredible choice worked for me magic… you do have mastery dining table… get some easy to clean, not showing dirt metal round side tables, no need for coasters fyi…

I commented earlier today on another one of your videos. I found you recently and have been binge-watching your channel today, as I am dealing with post-Covid lingering crap and have not been able to return to work. Thank you for being so raw, real, and honest without being so "in your face" about mental health challenges in real life. I have ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and depression, and the longer I am having to exist in this post-Covid state, the more it is having an impact on my mental health. Thank you for reminding me that it is possible to be in the crazy without being crazy, and that I still have value and can do things, just at a different pace. And for reminding me that I am not alone on the struggle bus, and we all take turns driving it, and sometimes pushing each other out of the way so we don't get run over by it.
The larger of the amber vases would make a great cocktail glass and all you need is a straw. I always buy my flowers at Trader Joe's the selection is the best and the price, well enough said. Simplicity and don't forget the windows, Caroline you definitely picked the best apartment because the windows allow you to see the beautiful trees outside your window and what's better than to see the trees and of course "people watch." It’s also my day job and I enjoy it enough but it doesn’t define me as a person. That feeling you had of trying to impress your boss and just not understanding why the heck you did that…that resonated with me so much! My boss is pretty nice and everyone around me is chill but I can’t get that nagging feeling that I’m just not doing enough. I would love if you spoke on that more at some point. I work in IT and also have a web design micro-business on the side and I do the exact same thing…work for many many hours, lose time and the next thing I know it’s late and I haven’t gotten out of my chair. It’s okay, you’re not alone. A lot of us do that. I don’t do it to impress anyone. It’s just you get on a mission and want to finish what you started. It feels good to have that sense of accomplishment. It’s called being in a flow state. I love it!

I know what you mean about affirmations for yourself - you can’t try to use affirmations if inwardly your mind doesn’t believe them and can’t take them in, that’s just forcing toxic positivity on yourself. I try and find accepting words and thoughts that feel truer for me in that moment/period of life…. like “I am trying my best and that is enough” or like, “I deserve to feel supported and accepted for who I am”…..”I am here for myself, how can I show up for myself today?” ☺️🤷🏼♀️

Great apartment! Perhaps an oval tufted ottoman, for English country house look. Alternatively a round or oval antique coffee table. And while you’re looking, a round or oval pedestal base dining table to soften all the angles. Last idea, is there room to move your sofa to the opposite wall? Then you can see your fireplace and tv stand.
You are totally my kind of people ( so many facets to your persona, you are definitely NOT dull or boring😎). I have the same conversations with myself that you do, and have also had a very intimate relationship with depression my entire life, a real love/hate wrecking-ball of entanglements. Anyway, I'm glad the Algorithm helped me find you and your channel, it's good to have something that breaks up the monotony that is my life, and puts a smile on my face and in my heart. It never works out the same when you tape it out on the floor. You still see the floor space, when taped out - when it arrives it covers the floor plus all the space above. You would have to put cardboard boxes to the height of the item to get a reality idea of size, and how much room it actually takes up. If it bothers you - or are in any doubt put it back and get what you want. I LOVE THAT DISH!!! I like white vases and dishes. Hurricane Lamp.
Don't return it !!!!! I think the issue is the tv stand. Mount the tv and get rid of that stand. Then get a round tray for the top of the coffee table.

I think that since your coffee table is square it juts out into the room too much. It interrupts the flow in your room. Maybe a round 36 inch table would breakup the rectangle of your sofa and dining room table better?

Caroline, you are such a delight! I always have trouble getting the right coffee table size! The ones I love in the furniture stores always end up too big for my space-you are not alone in this 🤣 🤣🤣 Two suggestions: 1) A rectangular table instead of the square will be more in line with the width of your sofa (hopefully the store has a rectangular version). Even though the square gives you enough room to walk, visually it takes up a LOT of space (your eyes go straight to the table when in the living room instead of your eyes moving around the space. 2) Dyson Air-wrap for the hair (the best)!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I work in IT and also have a web design micro-business on the side and I do the exact same thing…work for many many hours, lose time and the next thing I know it’s late and I haven’t gotten out of my chair. It’s okay, you’re not alone. A lot of us do that. I don’t do it to impress anyone. It’s just you get on a mission and want to finish what you started. It feels good to have that sense of accomplishment. It’s called being in a flow state. I love it!

I've been watching a lot of your videos since the one about decluttering for chaotic people. I love your energy and I just get you, girl. I love listening to your (not so) inner thoughts and unfiltered realness - anxieties, observations, criticisms, personal theories, and generally good advice about interior design and life. As someone with ADHD, I find a lot of your content very relatable... and honestly, comforting. I know it's a year on, but what you describe in this video sounds like a hyperfocus. I know what you mean about affirmations for yourself - you can’t try to use affirmations if inwardly your mind doesn’t believe them and can’t take them in, that’s just forcing toxic positivity on yourself.
I try and find accepting words and thoughts that feel truer for me in that moment/period of life…. like “I am trying my best and that is enough” or like, “I deserve to feel supported and accepted for who I am”…..”I am here for myself, how can I show up for myself today?” ☺️🤷🏼♀️

It never works out the same when you tape it out on the floor. You still see the floor space, when taped out - when it arrives it covers the floor plus all the space above. You would have to put cardboard boxes to the height of the item to get a reality idea of size, and how much room it actually takes up. If it bothers you - or are in any doubt put it back and get what you want. I LOVE THAT DISH!!! I like white vases and dishes.

Don't return it !!!!! I think the issue is the tv stand. Mount the tv and get rid of that stand. Then get a round tray for the top of the coffee table.

I think that since your coffee table is square it juts out into the room too much. It interrupts the flow in your room. Maybe a round 36 inch table would breakup the rectangle of your sofa and dining room table better?

Caroline, you are such a delight! I always have trouble getting the right coffee table size! The ones I love in the furniture stores always end up too big for my space-you are not alone in this 🤣 🤣🤣 Two suggestions: 1) A rectangular table instead of the square will be more in line with the width of your sofa (hopefully the store has a rectangular version). Even though the square gives you enough room to walk, visually it takes up a LOT of space (your eyes go straight to the table when in the living room instead of your eyes moving around the space. 2) Dyson Air-wrap for the hair (the best)!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I am just obsessed with your videos. I’ve just moved into my own 1BR for the first time as well, and I’m going through so many of the same experiences and emotions right now, so it’s super comforting to watch!!
