My advice to myself is to do 3 things that terrify me each year. Sometimes I feel like I have to force myself to grow and try new things. I think it’s the best gift to myself. And I never care if I fail. I figure just trying is a win. You are just so fun. I love watching these. My kids are grown, I don’t feel like I have the same style as you, I’m married, and live in the middle of nowhere, on a farm. Hard to figure out what we might have in common, but it doesn’t matter. I just look forward to your videos and think you have a way of communicating that is genuine and real. I hope you never tire of doing them.

I'm always amazed at how boring and how incredibly expensive new lampshades are. Finding used ones and covering them to create unique and custom shades is the way to go! Nicely done! I have never tried to remove original fabric, so thank you for sharing that lesson with us. I'm glad you were able to save it.

1) loved this lamp idea - i really want to try this - i have a lampshade color that doesnt match anymore! 2) the only story line i wish would have been wrapped up more today was more of a debrief about the picnic! there was sooo much build up about the anxiety pre-picnic (which i loved this segment!!), then just a few short moments saying it went well. I never did online or app dating, I ended up meeting my now husband in “real life.” I think if I hadn’t met him, I wouldn’t have tried to meet people through an app. I value real human connection and chance encounters. (Not saying you can’t have that through an app, but it looks like you gotta go through a lot of weird to get a decent one, and even then the decent one might be incompatible.) I would’ve just continued enjoying my best life, and hey if a person comes along my path and they make life better, then so be it! I think it’ll happen for you because you’re not searching it out. I watched this video last week, but I wanted to come back and say how I really resonated with how you talked about/felt about your birthday and the stress and anxiety involved in planning something for yourself like that. Especially the whole, "I want to do something nice and don't want to regret not doing something" thing. And I'm an introvert so it's not likely someone would throw me a party or idk, it doesn't come easy for me to publicize myself. Just really like how candid you are - it's comforting and refreshing to relate! Also all your outfits are cute
I just rewatched this so I could recover my lampshades. This was my fave, no-nonsense, how to. And let's face it we both know that I was going to use the spray adhesive inside in a unventilated area! 😅 Seeing you do it just gave me the permission I needed. ❤😂

I’m reupholstering my headboard because it’s a hideous grey color (but I love the shape) and I was going to pick a solid color, then remember Caroline’s fabulous wallpapered ceiling and went with a William Morris patterned fabric! I’m so excited!

I’ve had two torn meniscus surgeries. They aren’t bad as surgeries go. Make sure you get yourself a nice big knee covering ice pack to treat inflammation after surgery and elevate it when you can after surgery above your heart to prevent and reduce inflammation. Wishing you the best of luck with the procedure. Make up some easy to heat up meals.

So glad your siblings were able to care for you and you took care of having a bday party for yourself. Very brave and cool! I used to love going to movies alone at a morning Sunday time which had low attendance and it was like a zen date with myself to relax and open my Sunday. 1) loved this lamp idea - i really want to try this - i have a lampshade color that doesnt match anymore!
2) the only story line i wish would have been wrapped up more today was more of a debrief about the picnic! there was sooo much build up about the anxiety pre-picnic (which i loved this segment!!), then just a few short moments saying it went well. Would have loved more details on if anything you worried about happened in any shape or form.. more about how it went and how you felt afterwards.. and how the people from various areas of your life got along.. etc. Not being critical of your vlog, just purely out of curiosity 😉😉
If a friend and I had a big chat about how she was anxious about hosting an event and all the reasons why, then afterwards just touched based and was like “it went well”, i would be aaking all sorts of questions and begging for more details 🤣

I needed the *event panic* pep talk! We're having a birthday party for our son this weekend and I've been in perpetual panic since he decided to have a party. 😂 We usually go to Monterey as a family for his birthday, but he joined swim team this summer and wanted to invite his swim friends and have a swim party. I'm not the kind of mom who talks to other moms, and now I'm hosting them AND blending groups. I cannot wait until it's over. 😂😂

40s & up I started LOVING "colliding worlds."
There's nothing better or more fun than seeing the disparate worlds of friends come together in one room (provided there aren't tons of them:)
And then seeing some of them develop friendships of their own is just so great.
Kudos for hosting the picnic and pushing through the anxiety. I think there should be medals for this, it requires a lot of strength!

I agree with your dating assessment. I never did online or app dating, I ended up meeting my now husband in “real life.” I think if I hadn’t met him, I wouldn’t have tried to meet people through an app. I value real human connection and chance encounters. (Not saying you can’t have that through an app, but it looks like you gotta go through a lot of weird to get a decent one, and even then the decent one might be incompatible.) I would’ve just continued enjoying my best life, and hey if a person comes along my path and they make life better, then so be it! I think it’ll happen for you because you’re not searching it out.
