Luv this so much! Even if in a creative field, if i want to do a different genre of art, have to sit still for a time to have any bolt of "originality" on other topic. Hard lesson, and actually a relief.? Society values productivity to our detriment, maybe.
for me I'm always the most creative when I have absolutely no time to bring all the ideas to fruition. It's so frustrating!
My advice to myself is to do 3 things that terrify me each year. Sometimes I feel like I have to force myself to grow and try new things. I think it’s the best gift to myself. And I never care if I fail. I figure just trying is a win. You are just so fun. I love watching these. My kids are grown, I don’t feel like I have the same style as you, I’m married, and live in the middle of nowhere, on a farm. Hard to figure out what we might have in common, but it doesn’t matter. I just look forward to your videos and think you have a way of communicating that is genuine and real. I hope you never tire of doing them.
Tip regarding the worst case scenario coping mechanism: find the worst case scenario but then find the best case scenario and THEN find the most likely scenario. Finally, prepare for the most likely scenario :)
Re: anxiety - I've always tried to follow my dad's advice where if no one's dead and nothing's on fire in a situation then it's ok to chill somewhat because it COULD be worse. It's been my measure for freakouts ever since.

This morning I was trying to explain to my brother basically all of what your effects-of-online-dating segment was about. Separately, If you do too much to make your videos jointed (is that the opposite of disjointed?), then I won’t get to organize my thoughts by listening to yours and re-ordering them for myself. Which I appreciate.
I'm always amazed at how boring and how incredibly expensive new lampshades are. Finding used ones and covering them to create unique and custom shades is the way to go! Nicely done! I have never tried to remove original fabric, so thank you for sharing that lesson with us. I'm glad you were able to save it.
Consider the concept 'Get comfortable in the uncomfortable' when it comes to reasonable, healthy challenges, the comfort zone is great, except nothing grows there (not sure who came up with that quote). Great video!
I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist who works with kids who have developmental differences. In my field we call that "slightly uncomfortable but not so scary we shut down" area the Zone Of Proximal Development. That is indeed where the growth happens!

I have soooo much party anxiety girl my biggest fear is that no one will come tho so thinking through that worst case scenario is just depressing. Also dude you are SO likable. I watch every one of your videos and they always leave me feeling content or contemplative in some way, like I’ve gained something from watching them (which is rare for RUclips I think) Also its so helpful to see someone who models active self care, and shares pieces of their life/struggles/anxieties AS THEYRE HAPPENING not in hindsight :) You rock! I’m reupholstering my headboard because it’s a hideous grey color (but I love the shape) and I was going to pick a solid color, then remember Caroline’s fabulous wallpapered ceiling and went with a William Morris patterned fabric! I’m so excited!

I needed the *event panic* pep talk! We're having a birthday party for our son this weekend and I've been in perpetual panic since he decided to have a party. 😂 We usually go to Monterey as a family for his birthday, but he joined swim team this summer and wanted to invite his swim friends and have a swim party. I'm not the kind of mom who talks to other moms, and now I'm hosting them AND blending groups. I cannot wait until it's over. 😂😂

I’ve had two torn meniscus surgeries. They aren’t bad as surgeries go. Make sure you get yourself a nice big knee covering ice pack to treat inflammation after surgery and elevate it when you can after surgery above your heart to prevent and reduce inflammation. Wishing you the best of luck with the procedure. Make up some easy to heat up meals.

So glad your siblings were able to care for you and you took care of having a bday party for yourself. Very brave and cool! I used to love going to movies alone at a morning Sunday time which had low attendance and it was like a zen date with myself to relax and open my Sunday. Describing online dating as "in a vacuum" is perfect. I feel you on the disenchantment with dating. For people like ourselves, I reckon the best thing is to try to meet as many people as possible through more organic(non-vacuum) environments.

But I totally understand the anxiety. I've committed myself to messy hospitality. I am INTENTIONALLY keeping things as simple and no big deal. It feels so authentic to invite people to my not-perfectly-decorated/pristine house and just play board games and drink root beer from red solo cups.

1) loved this lamp idea - i really want to try this - i have a lampshade color that doesnt match anymore!
2) the only story line i wish would have been wrapped up more today was more of a debrief about the picnic! there was sooo much build up about the anxiety pre-picnic (which i loved this segment!!), then just a few short moments saying it went well. Would have loved more details on if anything you worried about happened in any shape or form.. more about how it went and how you felt afterwards.. and how the people from various areas of your life got along.. etc. Not being critical of your vlog, just purely out of curiosity 😉😉
If a friend and I had a big chat about how she was anxious about hosting an event and all the reasons why, then afterwards just touched based and was like “it went well”, i would be aaking all sorts of questions and begging for more details 🤣
