If I'm not mistaken he has placed that accessory kit on the wrong side of the BBQ. I believe it should be on the right hand side where the searing burner is located. This kit also holds the diamond pattern cast iron searing grate which goes on top of the searing burner located on the right hand side of the bbq.
This is our 3rd Cuisinart Griddler. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf We live in a condo, so the Griddler is our only option for preparing grilled food at home. We literally wore out Griddler # 2 (Griddler #1 was returned with a defective part and replaced, no questions asked). We love this new and improved design. Only 2 plates - instead of 4 - which counts in a small kitchen. The grease trap is a real improvement over the little cups that were sometimes forgotten and sometimes turned over! We decided to cook less with the cover closed, which seems to dry food out quickly, and we really like the result. The "sear" setting works great too. We use our new Griddler for fish to Cuban Sandwiches and beyond. I highly recommend the Griddler!
What does "standard grease management" mean for the Genesis 6788? They say the same thing on the website, is there a catch under it or am I scraping all my grease down onto the flavorizer bars?
I would imagine the worst part of the full insert would be keeping the grill clean where the oil/grease and food bits go through the back drain down under your grill and eventually into the drip tray. Over time if you don’t clean it often you’ll have one heck of a mess. Of course you’ll have that with regular grates well. Least favorite part about the gas grill. keeping it clean is a pain in the ass.
You are correct that cleanliness is critical on all grills for long life and best results of the food that is prepared on them. I think you may be correct that cleaning the grill firebox after use as a griddle on the grill insert would likely be more difficult or at least more involved then on the dedicated griddle due to the separation of the grease/food debris collection on most dedicated griddles. How much of an issue that will be in actual use is we will need to see. I have not had a chance to cook on one yet, soon hopefully.
The grill grates do get removed, only the flavorizor bars remain. While I have not used this full griddle model yet, I have used the crafted griddle in the Genesis and I have been pleasantly surprised by the grease management. Haven’t had any issues yet and cleaning which I did for the first time this past weekend was just as simple as scrapping all the drippings down to the drip pan and toss it out. The flavor bars were not an issue.
If it fall down onto the flavor bars my guess is you maybe got the wrong model insert for your grill. Weber currently makes an insert for the Weber Spirit 3 burner models, the Genesis 3 and 4 burner models. I wonder if you didn’t get. Spirit insert for if you have Genesis and it falls through.
I have had a weber grill for 25 years and except for a few replcement parts ,flavorizer bars and cast grates it still works well, Now their twice as much, And from what I hear not built as well.🤞
I've got the genesis 2 but here in Aus as yet unable to get the right hand rotisserie, it should have been available the same day as the genesis 2 was released. Cheers
Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to cook on them all yet. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity. The biggest difference I can see looking at them is their size and grease management. The Weber dedicated griddle has a larger drip pan so will handle larger, greaser cooks with fewer changes of the drip liner.
The Weber website says the full griddle fits Genesis and Genesis II, 2016 or newer. Not sure if that’s a typo but I’m currently looking to purchase the Genesis E-325s. Your video shows the full griddle fits because I was confused what the current Genesis is if it’s not the Genesis or Genesis II.
The cooking area of the previous generation Weber Genesis which was branded as “Genesis II” is the same as the new for 2022 Genesis branded as just “ Genesis” so all the accessories are interchangeable with both generations of Genesis. So yes the full griddle insert will work in previous and current generations of Weber Genesis.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767 thank you for the clarification. It’s a bit confusing since this is my first time buying a grill I decided to go with the E-335 due to the extra storage for the Crafted accessories.
@@sleepingbeautyisnotwoke The current Weber is just called the Genesis (new model in 2022). The older model is called the Genesis II. This was made from about 2009 - 2021. I had a Genesis that was made in 2006 and was just called the Genesis. Confusing at best. My understanding is that the Genesis II models will take the new Weber Crafted accessories, such as the griddle, wok, sear plate etc, but you may need to purchase the newer grates that accommodate the Crafted accessories. If you have an ACE hardware store, check with them as they handle Weber products and would know best.
I bought a Weber Genesis S-435 2 years ago. Their quality has drastically gotten worse, very thin gauge metals. A griddle is a glorified frying pan but cool inserts etc, thanks for sharing.
I just got one today and it works really good. I have Genesis 2 4 burner and I had no cold spots. I already have a Camp Chef griddle for camping and this Weber insert is way better quality.

I love my ACE Hardware. People there are so much more knowledgeable and attentive than my local Home Depot or Lowe’s.
Anyone have any tips on grease management for the second option, griddle insert?
What does "standard grease management" mean for the Genesis 6788? They say the same thing on the website, is there a catch under it or am I scraping all my grease down onto the flavorizer bars?
Did you say this griddle is enameled coated or is not enameled coated.
It’s not enameled..

Mine falls right down on one side was it made too small?

How do they all compare when cooking?

What is the part number for the big griddle insert?
For the Weber Genesis 300 series grills is it Weber #6788, for the Spirit 300 series it is Weber #6787
Does the griddle insert fit in the locker on the Genesis?
The small griddle insert for the Weber crafted system does fit in the locker. The full size griddle unfortunately does not.

They’re going down the route of flashy new tech which clearly is marketing to cover up for the worse construction standards.

Do you remove the flavorizer bars when using the grill insert? They are not used on the regular flat top griddle.
Per in the instructions that come with the griddle insert, you do NOT remove the flavor bars, just the grill grates.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767 thanks. That seems odd tho. Hmm
The bars probably help with even heat
Any griddle inserts for about a 10 year old summit?
Yes I also would like to know. I have a Summit 670 that I would like an insert for.
Has anyone cooked on one of the full inserts yet?
I just got one today and it works really good. I have Genesis 2 4 burner and I had no cold spots. I already have a Camp Chef griddle for camping and this Weber insert is way better quality.
Replace burners
No burner replacement is necessary, just remove the grates and set the griddle insert in there place.
