    I’m breaking mine out tomorrow. I have had bad experience with cast iron rusting outside. I bought the storage bag. I plan on keeping it indoors when I’m not using it.

      I clean it after each cook and coat the entire surface with oil. I keep the griddle inside the grill and leave the cover on but it stays outside. It has not rust so far - pretty durable and well made. I think you are going to love it! Please let me know how your first cook turned out! Thank you for watching!

      @@meatthinker I was pleased with it & I put it through the seasoning process & pretty much care for it the same as you, but after it’s cooled & oiled up after cleaning I put it in the storage bag & put it in the garage & replace my grill grates. My first cook was 1 lb bacon & 2 eggs, I was definitely impressed .

    When you seasoned it, did you go to the highest heat setting on the grill?

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  6 дней назад +1

      I got it above 350. That's when it starts smoking. Thank you for watching!

    Do you season the underside as well? Should you?

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  3 месяца назад

      It is directly exposed to fire so I don’t really think to season the bottom side. I’ve only seasoned the area that food will touch. I haven’t seen any rust forming yet.

    Thanks for the video. It sits on top of the flavorizer bars?

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you do not have to remove anything other than grill grates. This replaces the grate. Thank you for watching!

      @@meatthinkerthanks for the reply!
      I have a summit but the griddle I have is for genesis… It fits but instead of resting on the ‘grooves’ of the tub it will sit on the bars.. I’m wondering if it’s alright. 🤨

      Didn't realize there was a reply to my reply. I hope the griddle is working for you!

      Yes, I replied to your other comment. They do have one for a 3-burner Summit 2024 version. Hopefully you can find one.

    How is clean up? Drip tray

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  8 месяцев назад +1

      I try to clean up using scraper to gather burnt food, grease, and oil into a corner and pick them up with paper towel. I do this instead of pushing everything in the opening in the back. It will help keeping the burner tube 'chamber' under the griddle clean so I don't have to do much clean up inside later. And I don't have to empty out the drip tray often (which is very small anyways).

    Only issues with these are grease management, flair ups, and they don’t heat as well as a normal griddle. They also cost nearly as much as a black stone.

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  8 месяцев назад +1

      Agree on the grease management. They are selling for $150 right now! But yes, this won’t replace a Blackstone but it does a good job of you don’t have enough room for both!

      70 bucks on Amazon for the same exact griddle but off brand

    hello. can you tell me where does the grease go?

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  10 месяцев назад +2

      You can push the grease into the slit in the back but it creates a mess inside where the burners are. I usually wipe it down with paper towel after each cook.

    3/16” is too thin for my liking. 1/4” or 1/2” is much better for a backyard grill. 3/4” to 1” for a commercial kitchen.

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  5 месяцев назад

      I do agree with thicker the better idea!

    • @meatthinker
      @meatthinker  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I was debating that whether I should go through this seasoning process. But after doing it once, I think it was the right move. I use this more than the grill itself!
