Thank you for the video. I have been waiting. It looks like that the new spirit grills have less width than the previous ones, with what used to be the 3 burner now a four burner but still as wide. Is this true? Also will Ace have a special version with enhanced features like it usually does. I typically wait to see that as I get my grills usually from my local Ace. I hope they do well.
Thank you for watching the video and for your comments and questions. To address your first question, the new Spirit 2 and 3 burner models are the same cook box size as the previous 200 series Spirit models and the 4 burner Spirit models are the same cook box size as the old 300 series Spirit grills. So covers and grate accessories are compatible with the new models just adjusting for 4 burner equal to old 3 burner. Yes, there is a special Ace version which will be an SP-435 i believe that will be a stainless steel model. Thank you for shopping your local Ace, we certainly appreciate your business. i do think you will be impressed with the new Spirit models. They should be showing up at your local Ace Hardware soon, if they don't have them already.
Loncin Engines or...?
I like how they never mention the price.
I don’t mention prices on RUclips for a couple reasons. 1st prices change and these videos can float around for years. 2nd RUclips videos also can show up in all different markets where pricing can be different. I recommend checking with your local Weber dealer for current pricing in your area.
Oh dang, are they still making these things?
??? New product for 2024
@theflyingbrompton4787 just surprised, since everyone's bailing out of the gas engine market
@ …not in Texas. This may be true in blue states. I have been in the lawncare business for decades and I don’t know of a single business or neighbor that has anything battery operated.
@@theflyingbrompton4787 I dont mean the consumers, I mean manufacturers. You got Honda dropping out in favor of electric. Even boutique brands like Bad Boy are going electric. You got Home Depot and Lowes focusing on electric mowers, with only a few gas mowers with some junky plastic Briggs engines. And then youve got the Chinese mowers from MTD and all the no names making questionable gas engine mowers. Seemed like the only choice left, for a while, was just the commercial grade mowers. So its cool to see new premium gas engine mowers and not just more low cost Chinese junk.
What’s the highest temperature?
600 degrees
It’s a shame, but it doesn’t compare to the Traeger according to other RUclips websites
The Traeger model is a great option as well. Pros and cons for each. Id say check out both and go with the one that fits your needs better. The most unique feature of the Weber Slate is the Slate technology in the top being less maintenance than most other tops currently on the market.
How is this pit in comparison to the smoke/fire ... which is better as I see the smoke/fire is still pricey
The Searwood is the replacement for the Smokefire. Both have 600 degree high temps and both can sear very well. Performance is similar between the two. The side hoper on the Searwood is easier to fill than the rear hopper on the Smokefire. The Searwood also adds the ability to add a rotisserie as well as a manual mode for open lid cooking including a couple of griddle options. The Searwood is also easier to clean with the entire bottom pan being removable. The pellet sensor on the Searwood 600 XL also is an improvement over the Smokefire as it gives your percentage of full remaining as opposed to just a low pellet alert. The only thing I don’t like is the two cart wheels and two fixed legs the Searwood is awkward to maneuver. If you move your pit around much, that is something you may want to consider.
Does the 600 have Bluetooth so you can use the app
Yes, both the Searwood 600 and the 600 XL have WiFi and Bluetooth with Weber Connect App integration so you are able to monitor your cooks and control grill functions from your phone or other connected device. The only difference functionally between the two is the XL does include a pellet level sensor and the regular 600 does not.
Very nice! Does the larger 36” model burn through pellets faster than the 25” model?
From my experience with other grills, I will say that I believe it will use slightly more pellets but that fuel consumption is impacted more by the temperature you are cooking at, the weather, and the amount and types of food you are cooking.
$1000.00 is a deal breaker for me. I love Stihl but this isn't for me. I can get a real good mower for half of that.

@@melvinjacobs2328 I've never heard anything good about the Toro. Great presentation! How much do they run now?
i generally don't like post pricing on RUclips as pricing does change and it get difficult to ensure it stays up to date but the Stihl push mowers start just under $1,000 in the United States and go up from there. Be sure to check with your local Stihl dealer for the most current and up to date pricing information.
Holy shit!! What a rip off!!
Very helpful and informative video… thank you
Glad it was helpful!
It's a shame that Stihl has thrown there dealers under the bus and started selling at retailer stores. Does Ace and the other stores carry parts...No. Does Ace have trained mechanics to fix equipment ...No. Buy from Stihl dealers that have your back when thing don't work or expect to pay double the shop fees for bringing in Ace sold equipment.
While I can’t speak for all Ace stores or other retailers, I can tell you that my Ace store does stock parts and has a full Stihl small engine shop in house with Stihl trained and certified mechanics. I agree that buyers should consider making their purchases from serving dealers.
Well that blows my mind. I have never seen an Ace with anything close to that. Thanks for letting me know that's a thing. @@kopetskysaceyankton8767

Does the Searwood use the Genesis or Spirit size Weber Craftes system?
The Searwood will use the Spirit Crafted Rack and can also use the Sprit full griddle insert. The Searwood 600 is thr same grill size as the Spirit of 3 burner grills. The Searwood 600XL is the same depth as the Spirit but the width of the Genesis 4 burner, so if you add a rotisserie the XL model will utilize the 4 burner rotisserie. If you use the Spirit full griddle insert, you will have 3/4 griddle and 1/4 grill grate. Fortunately the XL comes with 3 different size grill grate pieces so you can fill in around the crafted accessories, the full Spirit Griddle, ext.
Can you send me a slate griddle plate for genesis 400 to norway? It’s not possible to buy here. Weber is not helpful at all.
I'm not really sure if we can or not. Will need to do some checking to see if that's possible.
Nice review,i have the stihl rm655rs mower with the rear roller, its a joy to use,it is so well built and starts first time every time and it leaves a very nice stripe too, stihl make great machines, what weight is this machine please?
They are certainly very well built units, Stihl lists the weight as 101.4 lbs., thanks for the view and the comment.
Good no nonsense presentation.
thank you!
It was my understanding the replacement griddles from Weber aren't the same that come with the Slate. Also I question how wind resistant it is when the sides have 2 big holes. I wonder if the inside cabinet has a bunch of gaps/holes (including from the top shelf) where mice can get in. Seems grill makers don't care about this issue.
The current griddle insert for the Weber Crafted system are NOT treated the way the Slate cooktops are, however the same insert that comes with the SAE-330 model is. The G28 and G36 models are also not currently treated like the Slate tops. However , it is my understanding that eventually that tech will spread throughout the Weber griddle line. As for the wind resistance, the holes on the side are relief openings so you can lift the griddle top, they are more on top then they are on the sides. I would like that the Traeger griddle may off slightly great wind protection then the Weber Slate, but the Slate should preform better in the wind then most griddles on the market. I should find out shortly as I plan on firing up a demo unit in the next couple weeks and in South Dakota we always have strong winds, stay tuned for an update. The top self is open front and back, while the lower cabinet is fully enclosed though not water, or critter tight for sure. Keeping it clean and treating for rodents and insects away from your cooking space is still your best bet.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767 Wow you know your stuff! I wish I could design a grill for me. I'd like the tank inside and not on the ends and wish this grill had both side tables fold. The 30" is SUPER wide and perhaps too big for me. Can we low cook in there with the lid down? I'm new to griddles.
For the features you are looking for, maybe check out the 2 burner Loco griddle. Its also a nice piece, well built and the tank goes in the cabinet and both side shelves fold. As far as cooking with the lid down, as far as I know all manufactures describe thier lids and "storage only" if you want to cook with a lid they all recommend using a separate dome lid, that being said, I know plenty of people who do cook with the lid down. Just be mindful that some brands paint thier lids and that paint may not be food safe or heat resistant.
That height adjustment got my attention. Being able to sit it upright for blade changes is nice as well.
The height adjustment is simply the best height adjustment system I have seen on a walk behind mower. Being spring loaded makes it effortless even though the mower is relatively heavy. it is a very well designed machine.
Can you get Natural Gas version?
Unfortunately the Weber Slate griddles are only available in propane at this time.
update on this, Weber does now offer the Slate in Natural gas.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767where? I’m looking it everywhere and cant find it. If they do im buying immediately
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767hey where is it offered cant find it anywhere. Would buy it immediately if i did
They are available from Ace Hardware’s in the US. It does appear that at least my local warehouse is expecting more Natural Gas inventory anytime now. I’d check with your local Ace or if your anywhere near South Eastern South Dakota give us a call and we can get one in Natural Gas coming for you and give you call when it comes in. We can assemble it for you also.
Rust resistant doesn't mean rust proof.
This is true, however unlike many other griddles, with this treatment the griddle should not rust with normal use and care.
No gas bottle storage room? A no go for me.
There is no covered bottle storage, however the propane bottle does mount under the right side shelf.
really
Bought this from Home Depot in Connecticut a couple of weeks ago. Seems to be a few different versions of the 3 burner. HD had the base version, no temp gauge and no side shelf extension on the right side. Online they had this version which is the one I ordered. The biggest difference is that the HD version does not have the lower doors. Just has two large bins that slide in the bottom area. This is replacing a 36 inch Blackstone Culinary version from Lowes that the upper grill area was just rusting out on. The Weber, cost more, but is built like a tank. Weather has not been cooperating much so have only done 1 cook on it. So far , so good. I think Weber has a well thought out design.
The 30" model with the lower cabinet doors, folding right front side shelf and thermometer is an Ace Hardware exclusive model.
Blackstones do rust like crazy. You get what you pay for.
I want one. Know anyone who needs a kidney?
No kidney is needed! I'm picking mine up tomorrow!
@@OliverofAllTrades did it end up costing an arm or a leg? Or both? :)
These look great. When my Honda ever dies, since Hondas going to stop making gas mowers, this will probably be my next mower. I like Honda & Kawasaki engines the best, with Kohler 2nd, but don’t like Briggs
Me too.
These mowers are truly impressive in thier design and build quality. Certainly with Honda leaving the gas walk behind space, there is room for a premium offering like this from Stihl. The Kohler motors are solid units with great performance and durability. I don't think you will be disappointed.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767 Cool, thanks!
@@chrisb9478 I'm picking mine up tomorrow!
A Toro Super Recycler with a Honda would be a nice option. I'm looking for something with an aluminum deck and good engine. There are not many options.
I have read up on the traveler 22 inch and 1st time i heard its the same as the slate series or Rust Resistant Carbon Steel. Can you provide a picture of specs to confirm on this griddle? Do you happen to have the expandable table for the grill?
Mike, thanks for the call and the question in comments. The literature on the 22 and 17" griddles does not specify that it has the same top technology as the Slate griddle, however in the training from Weber and looking at the tops the top material is indeed the same between the portable 17 and 22" models and the Slate griddles. In addition the crafted accessory griddle that is included with the new SAE-330 Genesis model is also the same top material as the Slate. The accessory crafted griddle sold individually however does NOT yet include the Slate no rust technology (yet). I believe that technology will eventually propagate through out the Weber griddle lineup. As for the expandable table, I have not seen that yet, but will look into it.
The slate sounded flimsy. How's the build quality?
I am impressed with it, the griddle top itself appears to be one of the nicest griddle tops currently on the market. It is finished very well. The frame is sold, the enamel finish on the lid should hold up very well, but Weber does state the lid is a storage lid only. The fold out side tables feel solid as well. The model displayed in the video is an Ace Hardware exclusive model and comes with the doors, ride side fold out side table and the included accessory tray and caddy. The accessories are available for purchase on other models.
When does the 36” come out?
I'm showing May of 2024 arrival for the 36" 4 burner version, the 30" Slate models are currently available as are the portable 17 and 22" models.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767 can you compare the slate to the traeger flat rock? Atleast in terms of build quality?
Overall Id say the build quality of both the Flatrock and the Slate are very good, the Slate assembly is easier. The burners on the Flatrock are larger diameter and I like the baffles in the Flatrock to gives greater temperature variation between the zones. The Flatrock propane tank mount is fiddley. Both have recesses cooktops but the Flatrock recesses even deeper then the Slates does but I think both will perform well in the wind. I like the temperature gauge, folding self, doors for the cabinet and the caddy on the Slate. I like the ignitor and electronic fuel gauge on the Flatrock over the ignitor and lack of gauge on the Weber. From what I have seen I believe both will cook very evenly. I like the treatment of the Slate cooktop itself. If the claims are correct about it not requiring seasoning and not rusting that top will be awesome. In general I don't think you could go wrong with either. I also have not had a chance to cook on the Slate yet, so once I have a chance to cook on I may have more feedback for you. I believe I should have an opportunity to cook on one fairly soon.
@@kopetskysaceyankton8767 thanks for the review. Very helpful
What are the+dimensions. Only have a limited amount of space left on patio. Looks very well engineered. Great presentation.
Doug thank you for your interest in the Weber 30" slate. It's dimensions are as follows. the unit is 6' long from side table to side table and 2' wide from back of the unit to the front of the control knobs. the the lid open it is 2'6" wide and if you have the folding shelf folded out its 3'7"
Please Weber , stop it with your useless side burner,,,Sear Zone like Napoleon , is the way to go.
the sear burner on the Summit model is an IR burner located above the top rack, think sear broiler. The side burner is more for other items as opposed to being used for searing.
I need one!
For those who have the cheese for this, congrats.
this is cheap lol. Look at lynx, hestan, and tec.
Anyone have any tips on grease management for the second option, griddle insert?
Did you say this griddle is enameled coated or is not enameled coated.
It’s not enameled..
This is our 3rd Cuisinart Griddler. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf We live in a condo, so the Griddler is our only option for preparing grilled food at home. We literally wore out Griddler # 2 (Griddler #1 was returned with a defective part and replaced, no questions asked). We love this new and improved design. Only 2 plates - instead of 4 - which counts in a small kitchen. The grease trap is a real improvement over the little cups that were sometimes forgotten and sometimes turned over! We decided to cook less with the cover closed, which seems to dry food out quickly, and we really like the result. The "sear" setting works great too. We use our new Griddler for fish to Cuban Sandwiches and beyond. I highly recommend the Griddler!
What does "standard grease management" mean for the Genesis 6788? They say the same thing on the website, is there a catch under it or am I scraping all my grease down onto the flavorizer bars?
Mine falls right down on one side was it made too small?
If it fall down onto the flavor bars my guess is you maybe got the wrong model insert for your grill. Weber currently makes an insert for the Weber Spirit 3 burner models, the Genesis 3 and 4 burner models. I wonder if you didn’t get. Spirit insert for if you have Genesis and it falls through.
If I'm not mistaken he has placed that accessory kit on the wrong side of the BBQ. I believe it should be on the right hand side where the searing burner is located. This kit also holds the diamond pattern cast iron searing grate which goes on top of the searing burner located on the right hand side of the bbq.
I have had a weber grill for 25 years and except for a few replcement parts ,flavorizer bars and cast grates it still works well, Now their twice as much, And from what I hear not built as well.🤞

I bought a Weber Genesis S-435 2 years ago. Their quality has drastically gotten worse, very thin gauge metals. A griddle is a glorified frying pan but cool inserts etc, thanks for sharing.
They’re going down the route of flashy new tech which clearly is marketing to cover up for the worse construction standards.
