      How is that possible? Where im at in cali, they desperately want travel radio therapists. Even non travel and start 50$ an hr.. you live in the sticks or somethin?

    What other jobs can radiation therapist transition to? I'm wanting to get an associates degree but I'm wondering if I get bored what else I can do with that degree.

      That’s a good question. If you want to continue school,you can go into radiology

      Even with a bachelors degree. You will be incredibly limited. Your job is to be a radiographer and only that

      you can only do radiography if you do a program for it. There is a state licensure for diagnostic radiography and a separate exam for radiation therapy . So unless you go to a school that has radiography built into the program prior completing radiation therapy then you can only work as a radiation therapist . I went through radiography first then
      chose radiation therapy

    I was wondering, should I get an Associates or a bachelors in radiation therapy? I feel like I should get an associates degree but I don’t know if I’ll actually get a job or not

      I would say Associates, just to save money and start working immediately. A large portion of radiation therapists just have an associates degrees. But, ultimately up to you. Good luck!

    Is there a lot of math in this career compared to other radiology fields like MRI or Ultrasound or RT? How much and how complicated? Is math used in school or also on the job?

      Highest math is pre calc so no, not really.

      MAC1105 which is College Algebra, at least that is what is listed under Cambridge Colleges degree audit. May vary by school

      Very big on physics. Reduction in radiation beams. Calibration and patient position does have the need for quick math computation. Such as reading at 72.3 cm and needing a 12.6 cm shift right. Does the number move up or down? This on top of talking to patient and other radiation therapist. Its alot to handle.

    My major is dietetics and I can’t find much information online regarding education for Radiation Therapy. Could I get a masters in Dietetics while taking RT programs to be ARRT certified?

    I just read that it has become an over saturated field due to how many graduates are going into the field? Should I still consider it?

      The longer you wait, the more saturated a field becomes. If it's something you're geniunely interested in; go for it.

      People are more aware of the good jobs now. Even tech is becoming oversaturated but millions of people still go for it. I’d say go for it

    We have a lot of oncology centers where I live because there's a lot of sunlight, so melanoma is VERY common here.
    I was considering becoming a radiation therapist or maybe a physician's assistant, but I'm not 100% sure which I should do...

      traditional 2 years associates for RT or 6 or so years to become a PA. i’m going for RT.

    I've done the song and dance where you go to college, get the degree, then there are NO JOBS available. Are there jobs in this field, a demand for skilled workers? Or is it another shot in the dark where you get the degree and it's nothing but silence at the end of the application?

      I would say there is demand. This is a small, niche occupation (only around 20k employed). With small niche occupations, you have to be open to moving across state lines to find the job opportunities. Unlike say registered nurses, who can find employment pretty much anywhere.

      Come to Cali..their hiring radio therapists starting 50-60$ an hr like no tomorrow. I smile when i see posts, “i cant find a job and i got a degree in radio therapy”. Like you living in a desert or what??

      I live in the Midwest and I need job realities HERE. Not 3000 miles away.

      @@DeadlyChinchilla Well if your looking for easy salary in the medical field with little to no job shortage. Perhaps nursing is more suitable. if you live in an area thats short on oncologists, or cancer treatment centers. Just my opinion.

      I’ve recently been accepted into the program and the director literally took the time to warn me that finding a job may be difficult and even completing clinicals would be difficult due to Covid and limiting spacing. I would hate to have to move to California from Georgia because the cost of living basically crushes this high salary that you speak of.

    I have a right hand with limited motor skills. I can lift people, but I type one handed. I’m looking for a new career that doesn’t rely on two good hands. I’m still curious if this disability would hinder my capability here.

      @@tejaldhodiya7476 You have to write CAMRT exam to get licence to work in Canada. Exam centres are available only in Dubai & Canada only

      ​@@rolwincrasta2317 there are various urgently hiring job offers across the nation ranging from minimum of 35/hrly in the US, you just have to be willing to move across the nation, however, there is preference like most jobs in the US to those who already take residency/hold citizenship in the US.
