  • ✈️ Grumman F-14B Tomcat VF-11 1:72 diecast scale model.
US Navy Fighter Squadron 43 (VF-43) was commissioned on September 1st, 1950 flying the F4U Corsair and nicknamed "Rebel's Raiders". The squadron transitioned through the F9F Cougar and F-8 Crusader before being redesignated as VF-11 "Red Rippers" on February 16th, 1959. The deployed to Vietnam in 1967, now flying the F-4 Phantom II and eventually upgraded to the F-14 Tomcat in 1980. The squadron went on to fly the Tomcat for 25 years before it was redesignated as Strike Fighter Squadron 11 (VFA-11) and switched to the F/A-18 Super Hornet in 2005.
During the final Tomcat deployment aboard the USS George Washington, the CAG and CO aircraft both wore high visibility paint schemes with some eye-catching nose art. Since the retirement of the F-14 also meant the retirement of the long-range AIM-54 Phoenix Missile, the nose art depicted a Tomcat perched atop an AIM-54 with the title "Thanks for the Ride! 1980-2005".
Seen here in 1:72nd scale diecast by JC Wings is the Grumman F-14B Tomcat from the US Navy's VF-11 Red Rippers, AA101, Last F-14 Cruise 2005

I wish to acknowledge all those that have served past and present with their respective nations armed forces with some making the ultimate sacrifice. Political ideals aside, it takes great courage and selflessness to answer your countries call.

😂 I thought about you as I was assembling mine. I got the JC F-14A Iranian paint scheme. The model is packed and painted, weathered just Perfectly. The precision for the plastic parts is unbelievable difficult and faulty. I have a HM. CW, and JC. The JC paint work and detail is the best in my opinion. The rest of the Assembly parts is one big nightmare. I had to glue the entire damn thing. The wings when you try to move them, is like rusty barn door. The cat freaks out when I do it. I was blaming the “Iranian sand in it” lol. Awesome video by the way.

I do like JC Wings myself as a big collector, and I’ve been collecting models for, I'd say, almost 14 years. I’ve got quite a few JC wings in my collection, and all of them tend to have notorious fitment issues. True, the boxing is nice and comes with a collectible card. To me, I focus on the model itself rather than the boxing. I’m just trying to give you an idea. I’ve been around these airplanes as an Air Force veteran. The only model maker that makes the shape accurate to real life is the hobby master. I’m not even impartial to any of those manufacturers, but that’s just my experience. Throughout 14 years, I’ve collected models from Dragon Wings, Witty Wings, Sky Guardians, Gemini Aces, and Falcon models. Century Wings caliber wing among other model makers I must say hobby master is the best choice; that’s just my opinion. cheers! and nice review.

Even though this model's a pain, it is gorgeous for sure. The weathering is a huge plus

If you a collector that never takes a model out of its box this is a must have, haha. It looks so good, but not until you open it up then your find there are serious issues...a lot like my first wife 😂

Nice review of the model. JC wings has beautiful models but it's ensambling is difficult.

Yes that's the frustrating bit!! And the mix of old molds and new molds makes it hard to buy confidently off them!!

I love an F-14, but the fitment of JC Wings really brings a good looking model down 😭. Thanks for watching the video!!

    Thanks for the review.
Yes their P38 is beautiful but what a pain to build!
Anyway their su 22 was very easy to build to me.

Yes the models they have released with magnetic landing gear and ordnance are fantastic, but seems some of their releases are older molds that are painful to assemble and have some issues with fitment and finish!! The Su-22 is beautiful, same with their Su-34's!! Thanks for watching!!

I was genuinely excited!!! But once you open it up the disappointment sets in. Its like opening up a Christmas present from Santa as a kid then finding the price tag and the receipt from your parents credit card and realising Santa is not real!!!***Spoiler alert for any young kids reading this** it was gut wrenching, haha President Fennedy does have a ring to it,haha. Thanks for watching!! Sorry the video went so long, haha

It's a shame they didn't make the parts magnetic, just like in some of their other newer releases, like Su-22 or Su-34.

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  9 часов назад

Spot on, its their releases like the Su-22 and Su-34 that suck me in to buy more then its releases like these that remind me that JC Wings can be a little hit and miss quality and fitment wise!! I am hoping they move forward with the magnetic options in all future releases because things like this are only hurting their reputation. If they can get past theit fitment issues they can be right up there with Hobby Master!! Thanks for watching!!
