I was trying to think what attracted me to your channel a few years ago, the first word that came to mind was honesty, the second was Phuket. Ive happened to spend a fair bit of time in Phuket back in the early 2000s, both my Japanese wife and I absolutely love it, and I have to say its tops for our retirement home in a few years. I own multiple businesses, and waking up at 4am is the norm' ! So many things resonate with me that you said today, youve learnt about business really quickly and in a foreign country. Youve got amazing support from Maybelle, what a gem she is. It takes guts or stupidity to do what youve done, so take your hat off to yourself, because guts it was. Be serious about what you do, but make it fun too. Your team (not staff) around you are your key to unlocking the quality time you will treasure with the family, treat them like family, be kind always but never foolish with them. Things are just about the ramp up on the stress front, Maybelle with have the baby, dynamics will change because your right hand man wont be there constantly, maybe you need to find that right hand person to bounce stuff off, somebody you can trust, thats hard to find in life in general let alone business. Keep up the good work, its been amazing watching your journey from the U.K.

Hi Richie, I somewhat agree with you but my personal experience has been very different. I owned 2 successful bar / restaurants in Hong Kong and they were the hardest most stressful times in my life. I had very little time for myself, my businesses consumed me and I always had the angst of the responsibility of being a business owner in terms of making it profitable and successful. I now work in a senior corporate position (for the past 20 years) and it’s far less stressful and I am financially more stable with a much, much better work life balance - I holiday 4 times per year internationally, I was in Phuket in June and I’m back again in December, I could never do that when I had my businesses. Everybody’s journey is different but I know from experience what you are doing is not easy, much respect to you, but I know it never gets any less stressful and where you are located becomes largely irrelevant when you have that level of pressure to deal with. I moved to Asia 35 years ago, no regrets but it ain’t easy as you know. Peace and love and positive vibes to you brother.

I do however don’t think there’s good and bad people , I think we all possess great kindness and also great brutalness and as we travel through life we learn to control the brutal and embrace kindness. We all do it to different extents and that for me is the difference. Not everyone gets to a place of kindness unfortunately

I have 3 daughters, half Thai half English. Decided to raise them in Thailand instead of UK. Thailand is a long way from being perfect but definitely felt it was a safer place to bring them up (touch wood) In general there is a lot more respect for society and elders here. And in my experience the Town / City centres don't turn into no go zones on a Saturday night.
Try most nights. The UK is an absolute toilet, for some of the reasons that you mentioned, plus many, many more that I won't bore you with. Great decision to raise your children in Thailand. I'd do exactly the same also.

I feel that you should pool all of both of your RUclips time and resources into growing this channel, and don't bother with Maybelle's channel. You'd be much better off having one really strong channel, as opposed to trying to grow the other little one. Just my opinion.

Somedays I think that living in Phuket would be wonderful, but the truth is that I prefer cooler weather without humidity and monsoons.....:) That being said, you're probably better off there than here ( California) where homeless drug addicts and other criminals are making life miserable for us decent folks. That is great news about the expansion. Do a lot of research on that because the second location does not double revenue, it doubles expenses and of course the challenge of hiring and managing a remote staff. Think about a co-location with an existing place that could benefit from having Maybelle's Coffee Garden added to their foot print. I have minimal connection but I am going to suggest you connect with Tim Newton who is opening a new hotel in Phuket he is calling Magnolia Mountain. I know he wants to offer a coffee shop/restaurant area within the footprint he is renovating. Just a thought.

Now it is almost three time the price as I was used to. I like your channel, you talk good, Maybelle is nice to hear and see.Getting a child will be very nice. I think short sleeps no good for you, relaxt a little.

Took balls to do what you done mate, I admire you and Maybelle starting that buisness in the worst possible time, I’m 58 now got a decent pension built up , still working but enjoying ourselves a lot more, but I worked from 16 yrs all bloody hours living in work the same as you probably done on the railways, we get over that way for a couple of months a year but intend to spend the winter months there in the future, but it was a long slog to get here. You’ve been remarkable keep it up and when times are shit stay positive , I’ve no doubt you will 🙏🙈🙈🙈🙈
