I got my oil changed today and Midas wanted 69.00 for new cabin air filter. I ordered one off Amazon and told my daughter I’m watching RUclips to change it myself. Thank you so much for this very easy video. I might try to change my oil next but being a senior I might have to keep taking my truck in
about a month ago, I replaced the air intake filter to my 2021 Tacoma sr5, I didn't do the cabin filter. I'm gonna order one right now, Nice upload as always Brian. You always keep it simple...🖐✋👍👍👍
Finally someone showing the correct way of installing the cab filter with arrow up⬆ many other channels are showing to install arrow down, shows that you just cant believe every channel out here of what they are saying & showing, best doing more research on anything person is trying to do themselves or could cause problems down the road.
I also installed the glove box shelf in my Tacoma. It's great and worth every penny. I also installed the console organizer and upper tray. These are a must have upgrade in any vehicle. I should have checked my cabin air filter while I had the glove box cleaned out.
Good replacement I done my today with the Charcoal cabin filter it’s only a few bucks more from Toyota A better Odor filter good video keep up the good work I change my ever year
I just changed the filter on my 2010 trd sport with 68000 miles , I can’t remember last time I did it but it’s been a long time ,.. you wouldn’t believe how much crap was in there , pine needles, leaves , mouse droppings and about a sandwich baggie full size of balled up wool … discussing ! ( I’m watching this 3rd generation video because I told my friend I’d change his 2019 for him )…. Thanks , it’s def different than my 2nd generation
Was surprised of the amount of dirt in your cabiin filter. Just changed mine and found it had a bit of carpet fuzz in a couple of the pleats. Changed it anyway because I have about 15,000 miles on the veehicle and I had bought one about 6 months ago. There isn't as much dirt in my truck because it is kept in a garage, has 15,000 miles, there is no snow here and few dead bugs in the air. Thanks for the instructions Sir.
Yea since it’s parked outside we get dust from the lawn mower, leaf blower, detritus from trees and all sorts of dirt and junk from off-roading and camping.
2018 Tacoma arrow down, that is the airflow direction. My ac fan was running as it should but the air it was pushing was restricted so I had to turn it up almost on high to get cool. Yep cabin filter replacement fixed the problem and now it will blow my hat off and freeze was nose on high. lol. I'm sure a dirty filter is not good for the fan motor and more importantly not good for the air you are breathing. So arrow pointing down is the airflow direction! It's that simple on 3rd generation Tacoma. If you buy the oem filter install it in the direction of the arrow which doesn't indicate airflow just how to install so it will show arrow up. That is what confuses people.Hope this helps.
Thanks bro 👍 I just bought a 2016 Tacoma like 2 weeks ago, and the A/C on passenger side wasn't as cold checked the filter it was nasty with bugs I guess they never changed it will get new one and might help also with the cooling; again thx fj or the video.....
Was that an OEM Toyota brand filter? Looked like it was. Many if not most aftermarket filters don't have an arrow identifying which side goes up. Instead they have an arrow indicating air flow direction. Those arrows should point down.
10k… I can’t believe i waited 43K miles to change mine. Def was dirty but yours seemed dirtier than mine. Changed because the smell that was coming while running the circulating A/C. Do you know what one can do to keep the leaves from making it in? Or is this the leaf trap area?
That filter will definitely be dirtier if you drive on dirt roads. You can definitely find deals on multi-packs. Doesn't hurt to check it twice a year minimum.
Great video. Looks super easy I’m about to hit 15k I hear a flapping sound when I turn on my Ac. I’m going to check it. Wonder if a dirty one can cause that noise. Appreciate the video
I just changed mine on my 23 Tacoma for the first time. Of course, the filter I took out was an OEM filter and the air flow arrow was pointing up. I put in a Purolator filter and the air flow arrow was pointing down. Is there a reason for that?
Quality and price vary when buying parts. Watch this video to see: ruclips.net/video/bRZVf2DAuDg/видео.html

If you have a filter that says “Air Flow” then the arrow will be DOWN.
Only OEM filter say “This side up”

I have the same. And yes I now plan to do it 2x per year
Man.... THANK YOU! I knew there had to be one, but had no clue the shelving comes out...I'm such a noob.
Happy to help!

OEM from factory. And wait till you see my most recent video.
Once a year on my 2019. Usually in the spring.
Nice! Is it usually dirty after a year?
@@brianruperti dusty by me…better for you if you have allergies to do it once a year anyway IMO.
@@SCSuperheavy114 I might even do it every 6 months

Once per week you can check your intake grate by the wiper arms and remove debris. That’s about all you can do. That and don’t park under trees.

What were those electrical connections beside the cabin air filter?
No idea sorry
Thank you

The direction of flow should always match oem because the fan blows that way
Have you ever given thought to being a steward on an airplane? Hahaha
🤣🤣🤣
On How often do we change it. Pls respond back.
Book says yearly, I do it every 4 months
@@brianruperti cool video . Thank !
@jacksonvang2946 thanks!
What is the right direcrion arrow facing up or down?
Arrow up
you said arrow up but it says the arrow goes with the air flow and the air flow is from top going down to the blower
@@nicolasreyes4480 it says “this side up” with the up arrow
i cant see " this side up" on the filter. ok i respect yours but i follow mine arrow facing down, per a toyota dealership mechanic
@@nicolasreyes4480 Yes do whichever the technician says. Some filters are different. How do you like your truck?
Sir we just did your oil change and we noticed u need a new cabin air filter 56$ 😮😢😮
$30 marked up filter plus labor in 2023 that is a price I expect to see for that.
... Toyota care free 🏆
Toyota parts will have the ⬆️ up on the filter always use Toyota parts
Christ, Toyota wanted $130 to do this. Thank God I ain't a chump!
$130!
@@brianruperti And $90 for the air intake filter. Just got both on Amazon for $30.
