Worth noting that student didn't say she majored in these things, just that the class she was in was on that topic. She could have majored in anything. My youngest sister is in college right now to be a grade school teacher and she has these useless credit hours that they requires she take before she can get her degree. She has literally taking classes like zumba, yoga and meditation, and a gender studies class just to fill those required junk credits.

He was really good at challenging people’s viewpoints and allow people to have civil debates. This was before the cultural issues and oversensitivity though,

Back in 1976, I took a class in human sexuality and it was pretty amazing. In essence, the instructor, an older woman and possibly a lesbian (don't know) had a number of people come through the class--lesbians, homosexuals, anyone not 'straight' so we mostly straight college seniors could be exposed to these different lifestyles etc. and maybe come to accept them (?). One of the first things se did was to break us into groups. She put up on the board a common word and asked us all in our groups to add our synonyms we could come up with. The words? Copulation. Fellatio. Cunnilingus. Penis. Vagina. All this meant to serve to desensitive us to the words so that we could get into the conversations. It was a very enlightening class, though at times (to me) hilarous. The course somewhat desensitized me to a lot of sexual topics etc., but I didn't have my ah HA moment of realizing that lesbians, homosexuals, and transvestites etc. were all pretty much no different than me in the human realm. That came in about 1982 and that' a story for its own post.

I had many a bad incident with a professor in just two years of college myself. One in particular to bring awareness to abuse and lived experiences, mid semester the professor assigned a speech project to the class to speak to abuse and trauma we may have witnessed or experienced in our life, and how that may have affected us since. After every student made their presentations we were given our grades, yet myself and the other guy were given failing grades for our speech. When we asked for clarification how we failed the project, the professor offered lecture and minimization reprimand how we were still more privileged than many other identities in the room, and how it could have been worse for us, were still here after all right? Most of the class supported the professor and many of the students even laughed in face of these grades. It was so out of sense and horrid to be talked down by a room full of people that don't believe abuse can affect men in their worldview. My fellow male student cried in the face of the backlash and it only enraged me, I made it clear the professor should be ashamed of her behavior in front of the class and then I encouraged my peer and I to just leave that class then and there. We did, and neither of us returned to the classroom thereafter. I ensured he looked into a better support network while I took the incident to the dean. While an investigation was set and the professor was reprimanded for the 'backlash' her behavior created for the school at the time, they basically had swept it under the rug. I decided at the end of that semester that college wasn't for me, especially since they weren't exactly preparing me for an industry that needed it. Now for some needed context, I have no debts from my fafsa form which paid for 100% of my tuition till I was 26. -I was a 2%er who was identified independent of both my parents who neither contributed to any loans or support due to severe neglect and abuse so extreme I was taken away from my parents by the legal system and CPS. Neither parent were part of my life for nearly a decade, minimally ordered contact, no financials, hence the independence override eligibility. But apparently to these students and said professor, that's not nearly as bad as the gals having a toxic relationship with their boyfriends or guys they try to date.. Most of which many stories were presented from other students were extremely shallow and superficial, things that can be learned from or avoided in my experience by vetting good people from ill... Yet I kept my mouth set and offered respect to their experience nonetheless. But that's just privilege living I guess.. I decided I wasn't going to waste anymore money in college after that semester, even if it wasn't mine. Even so, I felt I wasted my time. I settled for formalizing my two year general studies degree with a couple electives over summer courses just as confirmation I had some experience in college... That entire incident was one of a few crazy professors I experienced over the two years... But it was the one to break my denial and to open my eyes that, I wanted no part of that kind of hostility and bad faith assumptions of my character when i come to communicate respectfully and in good faith of others.

I have not the words to express how confusing it is when my speech project and the other boy in the class who experienced extreme physical beatings (as have I done).. could have been worse, and we should be glad we made it out the other side. We need to appreciate that and open the floor for the women in the class who had it worse.. none of which shared anything comparable in their speeches. I just dont have words for how irrational that claim the professor made was even today.. And thats because it was said with ideological intent, not compassion or education; as her job description in a class elective to put a focus on substance addiction, abuse, and the psychology of abusers and their victims. It was clearly evident to me she was not qualified to even be a professor of that class.. And that deeply upset me.. It turned out at my college the electives were very poorly hired professors for niche topics.. and I hoped to learn something I hadnt already in a class that had some parallels to my interests since Ive lived such horrors.

I'm and old man but have usually been very vocal about what I think. I was never expelled or suspended, and I always did my research before opening my mouth to address an issue. I've had good and bad teachers and professors. Most of the professors I knew were usually very humble and handled issues with grace, and yet even in the 60's there were some more intent on pushing their personal beliefs more than teaching the subject. When I heard something outside what I knew, I challenged them to prove their point. There were times I was just off the mark, and I was guided in a different direction, but not most the time. I remember an outing when we had a debate and I listened to all these different opinions, and at some time the professor asked my thoughts. I gave a different answer than anyone else, and he applauded me. I've also had professors hand out test that because of variant natures of the subject there could be different answers depending on certain factors. You had to know the professor and answer his thoughts, not that it was always true. The best professors and the best teachers teach you to think for yourself, not how they think. The professor mentioned here shouldn't be working as a shoe salesperson, much less a professor. They give out watered down degrees like candy these days because they are not teaching and in the real world when they are hired most have to be retrained.

Most of them were indoctrinated into it by colleges of education, which in turn were infiltrated by Neo-Marxists decades ago. The vast majority of US universities have Paolo Freire's "Critical Pedagogy" in pride of place in their libraries, which is a book by a Brazilian Communist on how to educate people into Communism.
But how did they get there? Same way they get into everything else. They use your virtues against you. They know perfectly goddamned well that the West is very tolerant and forgiving, and that most people are very civil and kind. So they MAKE UP, out of whole cloth, charges that you're not living up to those values. They demand to be let in despite your "oppression" and otherwise unaware people will often let them in because they ARE trying to live up to their values.
The Communists have a name for this. They call it "Repressive Tolerance." They know they ARE repressing you, that's the intent, and they're using your tolerance to do it. Once they're inside an institution they start working, or suing and cheating their way up. Given any clout at all, they fire or dismiss the normal population and start bringing in more activists like themselves. They leverage those in turn to gain more access and privilege. Sickeningly enough, they liken their own approach to a viral or cancerous infection. In their own words. They KNOW they're that bad, and they do it anyway.
Why do they do that? Depends on the level of Marxist education they've accepted. The dumb NPCs that have just been fed propaganda think normal society is so bad that something "new" has to be tried, and they are taught enough to think Communism is new. The REAL Communists fully intend to destroy society so they can replace it with a utopia, which they're pretty sure they are getting closer to making manifest despite nothing but horrendous results. They aren't, but they don't know that because they think Materialist Dialectics are science. Is that dumb? Yes, but remember who Communism, or any form of Utopian Socialism appealed to to begin with. People whose lives sucked because they weren't very good at life. You're just looking at the ultimate dumb evolution of an ideology based on that.

Remember that choosing to become a psych major is your decision, so don't let the opinions of others decide for you. Good luck!

Stick up for what you believe in, and never be afraid to fight back. The liberal ideology is an ideology of intimidation and indoctrination, and it can't succeed unless you are afraid of them. As for psych, @jab has a point. The field is overgrown with leftist ideology to where it was in my introductory psychology class saying that biology was wrong, and male/female didn't exist. I would recommend instead getting into psychiatric nursing instead. You still get to help people on a psychological aspect but you're surrounded by crazy people who have a reason for being crazy rather than being dumb! Best of luck to you!

I have been fighting over my current classes curriculm and multiple other classes because the materials being assigned don't match up with the assignments. I mean its read chapters 1, 2, and 3, then do the assignment and cite your sources but then the info I need is either in Chapter 8 or not there at all.
