Explaining some stuff in this episode.
- If Rudeus didn't travel with Elinalise, he already died twice in this episode. Both the Saccubas and Griffins were going to kill him if Elinalise didn't react quick enough.
- Nanahoshi was always wearing her student uniform, she just had a weird cape on that covers it. It's a similar fashion like Fitz. Noticeably since Cliff and Zanoba has been helping her with her research, she wasn't wearing her mask anymore, meaning she's being more open to people in the school.
- Some other reactors did suggest that Nanahoshi could provide Orsted's teleportation circle to help Rudy travel faster, since she needs Rudy around to help her research. It was kinda a thing hinted in the background settings, not that easy to pick it up. She had to keep it secret though, since that's effectively Orsted's private plane he uses to travel around the world, he'd be pissed if it was destroyed, and he's the last person you would want to piss off.
- Oh the story will be very different in multiple ways if Sylphie was able to tag along. For beginners, she's the only incantationless healer in this world, she can heal people without reading a 30-seconds long incantation. If any casualties happened she can patch things up very quickly.
- The teleportation circles Orsted uses are protected by old dragon magic. Those ruins are dated back to more than 1000 years ago, not made by Orsted himself but was made in the purpose for future dragon folks (like Orsted) to use.
- Don't know if you still remember it or not, but the next episode is pretty much foreshadowed in one specific line in Season 1. If you caught that line than you can pretty accurately predict the plot of the next episode honestly. (You did in fact react to that foreshadowing line in your S1 reaction saying that's way too specific.) I doubt you are going to rewatch the whole season just to find that line if you don't remember it, so I'll just look forward to your predictions.
The succubus also are bad enough that that basically all adventuring parties and Caravans take at least 1-2 women adventures and guards to take care of them. Well, and to help snap men out of the state they are left in because of how much trouble it causes people.
@@mageius Basically a whole party of men are pretty much just bait for succubus in that area. You always need to have a female fighter in the party to get things straight. I recall in most cases nobody knows detoxifying magic so they just have to "do it" to get the men back in normal mental state. Luckily Rudeus knows this magic so no fun for little Rudy tonight.
Well, Orsted can also heal with no incantations. We saw it in volume 15. He insta heals, its insane
Yeah season 1 layed some heavy groundwork for these next few episodes. I remember something said in the final ep of season 1 foreshadowed the rest of this season too
They cut about half a book's worth of content, but it's understandable since it's just travel. But the actual travel time each way was 1 month and a half (it takes half a month to reach the town of Bazaar, then one month from Bazaar to Rapan). Rudeus nearly dies a couple of times. They skipped a giant sandworm that swallowed him whole (but he managed to burst out by using magic), and a literal army of bandits.
They shoved 7 entire chapter into this one episode btw, a ton of skipped content though most of it isn't important to the later plot it's still enjoyable world build experience in the LN.

@@MZO808 Chapter 8: Farewells, ch 9: To Begaritt, ch 10: Natural Predator, ch 11: The Desert Ecosystem, ch 12: Tarversing the Sands, ch 13: Bazaar, ch 14: The Warriors of the Desert, were all happening in the novel during this episode. So 7.
It's not really important to main story but if they skip the journey feels too short. Next episode we already in LAPAN

It's said to be a huge whale like creature with elephant legs, so possibly one of the giant white creature you saw in the episode.
That huge creature that we saw walking is Behemoth Jr.

Okay, a lot of things were cut out of the episode, in short:
Orsted uses these teleportation circles to travel around the world.
Orsted made Nanahoshi swear that she would keep it a secret since it was forbidden magic.
Nanahoshi couldn't remember their location.
So when she traveled with Orsted, she drew or bought maps and took notes so that she could use them someday if necessary.
To find out their location, she "accidentally" asked Orsted about it.
Monsters that were missed: succubi (Elinalise killed one in this episode), sandworms, phalanx ants, bats (about 50 cm in length), garudas (feathered dinosaurs), hippopotamus (whose height was about 100 meters, and their overall size from 100 to 1000 meters).
Next is the trip to Begarit (they missed almost the entire trip), the main thing they missed:
Traveling through the desert, they saved a group of people (among whom was a merchant) from griffins.
After that they came to the city of "Bazaar".
There they met Galban (the same merchant), he invited them to join his caravan (they were also going to the Labyrinth City).
On the way, they were attacked by a pack of robbers (100 people they could see).
One person from the group died (there were only 6 of them, including Rudeus and Elinalise).
Then they reached Lapan (Labyrinth City) together with the caravan, and not like in the anime.
By the way, the journey lasted 2 weeks.

A small spoiler warning for some of the skip content that's kind of amusing to know about succubus on the continent:
Succubus are such a problem on the continent that basically all adventuring and Merchant Caravans have at least1-2 female adventurers or guards with them on top of any other men just to take care of them and then to get the guys to actually snap out of it. Because they really do not know detoxification magic and the men won't snap out of it for the most part unless. (No joke in the LN they're actually surprised that Rudy can do that without having to do it.)

13:25 the seasoning reminds her of Geese. I doubt she's seen him since the Fangs was disbanded some 17 years earlier.

@@LykesonRose Geese and Elinalise were in the same party with Rudeus' parents.
Rudeus had run into Geese and he picked up some tricks while they went to Millishion from the Doldia village. The travel along the highway did take a whole month, after all.
Everyone Geese has rolled with has complimented him on his cooking. That's what got Paul to befriend him in the first place.
Paul disbanded the Fangs the moment he learned Zenith was pregnant and the members drifted apart after that.
So Rudeus using the same sort of cooking tricks as Geese must've been a moment of nostalgia for her, bringing memories of the party to the surface. Zenith as the party's little sister, her scolding Elinalise's bad table manners, what Paul did to earn her ire, etc.

13:25 ever since having to deal with the disgusting meat from monsters on the Demon Continent, Rudeus carries around his own spices with him when adventuring, something he also picked up from Geese. Elinalise actually mentions that Geese also did this back when Paul's party was all together.
14:24 that's a behemoth skeleton. It's a larger one than the giant white monster from earlier in the episode.
14:30 they actually skipped chapters 13-14 of volume 11 (which I recommend reading if you get a copy of the LN) that covers the Warriors of the Desert mini-arc, which has enough content for an episode. They really should've had another episode just to cover that whole bit.

Most adventurers don't eat with seasoning and some adventurers in parties bring their own seasoning like Geese, that's why she said "I really like your seasoning".
Another Sunday, a new ep of Mushoku Tensei. Few more eps to remind everyone why they should wish for S3 announcement soon. Also, a special episode, anime-watchers need it fr.
Fingers crossed hoping for another OVA to be released when the season concludes. A season 3 announcement with a date set would be even better.

Greyrats don't seem to have a set naming theme for their branches.
Paul, James, and Luke are biblical figures; Pilemon and Philip are affection-based names; Amarant and Valentina (Paul's parents) had flower names; Eris is named after Discord; Rudeus' name is similar to the latin word for actor, ludius (with that lengthened u, no less)...
In the book Rudeus either thinks about video game characters or taking the first syllables of his and Sylphie's names.
In the light novel it's still take a long journey, they cut quite alot. It takes 7 chapter that mean hal of the book of Vol 11 focus on this Beggarit continent Journey and to get to the place on the last panel.
Rudeus should be a guard for a merchant caravan to reach city of rapan the city on the last panel. They skip that and immediately get into vol 12

Honestly it's totally understandable why they skipped it. Those are solely world building content that has 0 effect in the story for the long run.

they skipped the first time rudeus killed people. For me it was a big deal to skip that. Also they learn a lot about Begaritt through that journey as a guard

That's funny to hear, since it is Nanahoshi who implemented the use of uniforms in the university (along with other things) And yes, the decision to go to begaritt involves various people, not just Rudeus and his family.
Exciting journey through the desert, although I feel that the most important thing in the ep. in terms of world building, are the ruins where the transportation circle is.
From the spell to enter we can start breaking down information.
The transportation time is also an important matter, it's not instantaneous. Before, in TP1, we were able to see it:
-Paul and Norn transported nearby in Asura's kingdom when it was still daytime, (Edit: Oh Sylphie also appeared in the daytime, quite close by in the capital of the kingdom).
-Lilia and Aisha appeared at night farther, around Shirone.
-Rudeus and Eris also appeared at night even further away.
Also seeing Orsted's clothes inside the ruins is kind of scary
11:34 that my friend, is a Behemoth!! probably the 2nd or 3rd monster I most wanted to see animated in all MT, although its appearance was very brief it is not as I had imagined it, but I good withit. By the way the ribcage around the city of Rapan is one of these creatures (a massive one)
haha the stone bullet is nasty indeed, the problem with the gryphons is that they are very agile, no matter how strong his magic is he couldn't have taken 2 at the same time, luckily Elinalise was there (just like against the Succubus).
Every week will be a torturous wait for the next ep xD

Great catch on Orsted's robes, I didn't notice that!
This makes me think its a potential foreshadow to Orsted possibly being in the Begaritt. I'll touch more on it in my prediction.
Ye I was glad he did notice it. When I read that there were some cloak there we didn't have the confirmation it was Ofsted's. But we definitely thought it was.

That horse name its Matsukase, it wasnt a big ass shire workhorse in the novels but I like it better this way =)
Of all the platonic girl friends Rudeus has Elinalise had the best interactions, they love spicy jokes and banter
One particular interacción I remember is.
- Elinalise... if this circle drops us in the middle of the océan, lets make Nanahoshy pay for it

The Journey lasted for a month so they had quite a few of those interactions and I love it
Since that cyrcle Drop them in one of the most remote parts of the desert they did found quite a few more monster species.
like Sand worms big enough to swallow a man, one did catch Rudeus but he kill him from the incide with cuting Wind.
Elinalize was startled and a giant Scorpion stung her.
They recognize they cud have die right there so yea begarit is dangerous.
They did try to travel by night... bad idea, swarms of gigant bats controled by a sucubus and the local wild life was a LOT more active at night.
Packs of raptor like lizards big ass flightless killing birds.
And even a Trex looking monster, so traveling by night is a bad idea.
Rudeus tought about conjuring some clowds to get some shade, but Elinalise stop him, it woud likely atract more monsters, Rudeus settled for a cold brezze arrownd them
Thy allso found a huge colony of gigant legionary ants.
Elinalise urged Rudeus to hide and don't even think about fighting them.
this was acording to her dangerous enough to be clasified as S Rank treat, dangerous enough destroy a citty and movilize an army, thankully they were just pasing by
When they arrive at the Bazar Rudeus put in practice the "Fighting god tongue" skills he learned while he was staying with the Boreas he wasn't quite fluen't and had a hard time with heavy accents but he got by well enough.
they fund out they cud not pay with the Asuran and Ranoa coins they had and since it was a remote bazar in the middle of the desert there was no way to exchange their coins
Elinalise was prepaird tho, She brought some magic stones and small rings that she sold for a bit of the local currency.
Since they didn't know they way to Rapan they joined a carava as aditional bodyguards the other 3 Body guards were 2 males warriors and a bad temperd dumb female warrior who tought Elinalize was a sucubus...
their journey was a hole diferent story I will leve it in another coment =)
The citty was founded in the skeleton of the Biggest Behemoth in known memory. like the one we saw in theis episode its so big that even an army woud have trouble killing one.
that particular behemoth was killed by North god Kallman the second, the gratest adventurer the world has ever seene.
If you ask any kid who is the most important hero they woud likely say dragón king Perugius (flying castle guy)
but if you what kind of hero woud you like to be? most people woud say like North god Kallman the second.
he is a silve tongue rouge swordsman who traveld the world conquering labyrinths, killing giant monsters, topling goberments he deamed tyranical, charming beautifu woman and teaching the Sword style his father developed, he was the stronguest Swordsman in the world for over a century but nobody has seen him in a while, his son Kallman the third is the 7th of the 7 grate powers and the current head of the North god style.
A long coment but i hope some people find it entretaining :)
THE CARAVAN OF GALVAN
Galvan is gready and sleazy traveling merchant that Rudeus and Elinalise saved, from a cupple grifins, they ran into him again at the Oasis, he was the onlly merchant there that was taking the rute to Rapan and for a very damn good reason...
Rudeus and Elinalize joined the caravan as extra bodyguards since they didn't know how to get to Rapan and Nanahoshy's map was a bit vague, Galvan had 6 cammels packed to capacity and 3 bodyguards the leader named Balibadom was in its 40s and had a demon eye that let him see mana, the other male was quiet and big named Tont and the third one was a grumpy and dumb girl named Carmelita the bone breaker
Rudeus did learn some interesting facts about the the People of the sands and a few disturbing ones
when Laplace introduced the sucubus to begarit as a way to undermine the fierce rescistence of the sand people, the stuborn warriors found a way to deal with them
at first they traveld with female slaves and prisioners but they slowed them down so they started to train warrior woman to deal with sucubus and the aftermath...
Magic and specially detox magic its preatty rare in remote áreas of Begarit
The warrior woman consider that their "dutty" they take to it solemley and when a woman gets pregnant the baby its trusted to the Village and the warrior woman goes back to travél the dunes with the caravans...
Even Rudeus tought this was a fucked up and cudn't even think of it as "sexy" tho he probably woud a few years prior...
Due to the merchant being blinded by greed they tooke a rute that cross trough some bandits territory, Balibadom the leeder of the bodyguards tried to convince him to drop the charge if they get ambushed. But he refuse saying that thats why he was paying them for...
They did got Ambushed but the Word "bandits" was a MAJOR understatement this was a insugence army of more than a hundred warriors leed by a warlord.
A poisond arrow took down one of the cammels and Tont, one bodyguards and woud have kill Rudeus if not for Elinalize who pull him back avoiding an arrow.
A moment later they saw at least 30 horse riders runing down the dunes and archers on the flank so the caravan started to Run like hell!
Even in the face of an army Galvan refuse to let go of his goods saying that if he drops his good he may as well be dead!
Rudeus got into emergency mode and used his magic to bail them out. He made a giant fog screene to blind the Archer and a HUGE quagmire to stop the horses. even then some arrows did hit awfully close, the quagmire wasn't good enough to stop all the horses and as son as Rudeus hear them getting coser he conjure a bunch of Stone walls behind them, blinded by the fog many raiders ran straight into them.
After a while they lost the army Carmelita grab Rudeus by the shirt and scriming in anger with tears in her eyes
"why?! Why didn't you kill them all?! I have seen your magic! You cud have kill them! We cud have avenged Tount!
Rudeus tought it was madness! but then he realized that the tought never even cross his mind, "cud I have done it? The idea was to escape not fight but fighting cud have been better? Thers no way!
Elinalize woud have none of it, she didn't even spoke the lenguage but she knew exactly what was goning one, she grabed Carmelita by the arm and with cold stare and menicing thone she scolded her
we are payed to protect the caravan not to fight a god damn army, Rudeus Quick thinking and magic skills are the onlly reason we got out of it alive you shud be grateful, you wanted to stay and fight? We woud have died like fools
Carmelita cud not understand a single word but the meaning was not lost to her
why why you keep stearing at me? Wanna fight? What a stubern little child Ill grant your wish.
when Elinalize draw her sword Balibadom stop them and scolded Carmelita saying that it was a shame what happend to Tont but she was the onlly one who wanted to ight and that she can be such a bonehead she just screamed "shut up!"
And went to cry on a corner...
Balibadom apologize to Rudeus and Elinalize and ask them to forgive her rudenes... last year she had a kid with Tont,
Rudeus nod in understanding, Carmelita never spoke again to Rudeus
they arrive at Rapan, a few days later Galvan did try to convice Rudeus to work for him with some cheep ass offers but making them sound like a grate deal but even if Rudeus didn't needed to save his mother he had no intention of repeating that experience and flat out rejected every offer.
It's around 3 and a half months since it took a few weeks to get to the teleportation Ruin.
It took them a week(5 days) to get there, not weeks

Good question. It's something I never thought of. Either Nanahoshi has and she's kept it secret (especially when she traveled with Orsted). Or the Man-God specifically chose Rudeus.
I really hope you pick up the light novel. When I started I couldn't stop reading, it's the only LN i've ever read
I'd be in the same boat, I never read any light novels only some manga.
Agreed by the time I knew it I finished all the books. Now I'm waiting on redundancy to release officially in English
A Lot was cut
I can tell just by reading some of the comments. It sounds like this was the most heavily skipped episode in terms of LN content.
The big white thing is a boheomoth they range from 100 meters long to a km long. And their height is ridiculous to match.
They cut out the group of people they travelled with and with such they cut out a tin of lore and culture.
Basically to make it short succubus are very common so women are in every group that goes out to kill/ hunt/ gather stuff. Or just traveling place to place as a merchant. So women are in them because the men still are in the mental condition of the effect of succubus, because they will die or go crazy if they don't do it, when the women get pregnant they go to their homes, give birth then head out again. The homes raised the children, the boys because warriors the women are taught how to help the men, it's not a nice culture but it's how they survive.
It seems Boheomoth was a fan favorite in the LN which is probably why they decided to use the 24 minutes to show one in the anime.
I see they skipped out non plot related details, but still would have been cool to have some additional lore added in the anime.
Also after reading the details provided I can see why the anime completely forgo that route.

They skipped bascially 2 episodes worths of Light Novel content.
