- Well, MeTV Toons launched this week. At first I learned it was only freely available to those with antenna TV; no cable or satellite providers have it. But I can still see it via a Frndly TV subscription. And so I decided to make another vlog featuring that vulpine private toon detective Sam Valentino about this cool new animation channel. The foxy gumshoe brings up how it's accessed, along with some neat surprises the channel has given us so far, even a couple newly-restored TV cartoons!
All cartoon clips © Warner Bros. Discovery and WildBrain; FAIR USE!
So far I am loving the channel and feeling like a kid waiting to see what's next! Streaming is nice and convenient, but something about just letting the shows run as intended is satisfying.
Nothing will beat that feeling of watching cartoons back in the day, seeing the title card and realizing it’s an episode you’ve never seen.
I got MeTV Toons on WMBP-LD (Telemundo, translator of Fox 10, and Outlaw TV) through 31.4 at the launch day and I loved it. I watch Speed Racer every night and I enjoyed. I wish MeTV Toons would bring in a little more anime. I watch that channel more all day.
I am hoping we get more cartoons on MeTV Toons.
Also, The DiC logo is kept in Captain Planet because WildBrain doesn't own it, Warner Bros does.
The 1996 Universal Television logo is also seen at the end of The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends Show
& so was 1969's Hanna-Barbera Productions logo on Scooby Doo, Where Are You
Amazing how DIC would go though multiple name changes from Cinar to Cookie Jar, to DHX, and Wild Brain. That's more name changes than when Hanna-Barbera folded into Warner Bros. Animation, and spun off Cartoon Network Studios.
Zak, you are so lucky! I kind of wish I was.
Two days ago, Boomerang aired “a haunting we will go”, which was the first time they aired a Looney Tunes cartoon starring Speedy Gonzalez in a decade.
@@ZakWolf Wow! I guess the ban is finally gone.
@@Princess_-gp3ep This "ban" was just limited to Boomerang and (HBO) Max. Sometimes Warner Bros. wants to keep Speedy Gonzales under wraps, sometimes they don't. It's silly, because Speedy Gonzales is surprisingly very popular with Latin Americans, especially since he's a heroic go-getter.
@@ZakWolf I agree. They should already understand that popularity that he has over there by this point, and not mess with him here any longer.
@@ZakWolf I find it hilarious despite his positive qualities, Speedy still gets banned for being A Mexican stereotype.
(Even though Slowpoke Rodriguez is more of A negative stereotype than Speedy.)
Im so glad nostalgia is getting popular!
I'm very thankful for Sam's thoughts to respect about the MeTV Toons channel. Regards adult informercials, Adult Swim expressed the exact demographic ads over the years while they currently show classic exclusives from the past CN history like Dexter's Lab on Checkered Past Weekdays and Sailor Moon on Toonami Rewind Fridays under variety direction of Michael Ouweleen of classic Boomerang bumper fame.
I think its also worth adding that Top Cat will be coming to Blu-Ray in August and I'm sure that MeTV Toons will be airing the new masters once that releases.
I just bought 'Top Cat & The Beverly Hills Cats' on Blu Ray.
I have MeTv Toons and it looks pretty great. Its cool that it came back with old retro style cartoons to relieve some nostalgia. It has many cartoons to air almost all day like most channels with cartoons that had shut down before sadly (I think one of them was teletoon retro.)
I’m mad because they didn’t put stuff like bananas, splits, or HR puffin stuff
They do have the 'Super Marianation' shows from Garry Anderson. Though, you do bring up an interesting debate on what live action content can air on MeTV Toons. 'The Banana Splits' did show cartoons during their show, so that's fine, but the rest is kinda up in the air, but it could be worse.
bob bergen is the voiceover for metv toons, he played porky pig
5:25 I’ve seen tons of those commercials constantly when I was a kid and growing up through high school.
So cool. I'll be temporally disconnecting my cable and dig out my antenna to watch.
2:22 If Wacky Races is the most popular Hanna-Barbera series in Japan, reckon that’s why it became a partial inspiration for Mario Kart?
That would not surprise me. Maybe Shegiru Miyamoto was A 'Wacky Races' fan.
The Real Ghostbusters is also on MeTV Toons as well
2:17 Also the popularity of Wacky Races Japan sure led to the inspiration of Waluigi back in his debut game Mario Tennis.
This was a good thing for me, mostly. Although, at times I DO find myself bored from time to time. Still, as for Wacky Races, I easily remember renting an NES Game based on it, ONCE! it had sets of three levels, one of which was based on the "Dastardly & Muttley and Their Flying Machines" Series. The bosses were each of the Wacky Racers, and you'd play as Muttley with the ability to bite and fly with his tail. Typical NES Platformer actions, you know. As for "Histeria," I DID enjoy a nice laugh out of that 'Thomas Crapper" segment with Mr. Smartypants. Even posted that little fun fact over on X with #Histeria.
I wanna hug Sam 🫂
Broadcast TV would still be viable if they didn't air so much local news, tabloid talk shows, infomercials, and reality shows. And cable channels keep devolving into huge shells of their former selves chasing after the 'MODERN AUDIENCES', and continue to push 'THE MESSAGE'. Also, having to pay for A streaming service to get MeTV Toons is kind of A jip when you get right down to it, but if Weigle can launch A 'free streaming' version of the channel, I'm willing to go that route if I have to. As for WB's restorations of Hanna-Barbera classics, I hope they eventually get to 'Quick Draw McGraw' because his show REALLY needs an HD restoration much like 'Wacky Races'. Also, if 'Inspector Gadget' get's an HD restoration, that would be interesting to see, and If that happens, I hope they include the original DIC logo with Gadget dotting the I with his gadget hammer.
Same here! Especially since Cookie Jar has been defunct for roughly 12 years now. Of course, early Season 1 episode of "Inspector Gadget" actually had the DiC Vortex logo, silent (it didn't gain its own music until 1984).
@@ZakWolf The episodes I bought digitally have the 'Incredible World Of DIC' logo, the Lexington Broadcasting Services, and Bohbot Entertainment logos.
If Wacky Races and Captain Planet got new HD remasters appearing exclusively on this channel, then I hope that someday, the Harveytoons shorts will get the same treatment. So far, at least from what I've seen anyway, they're mostly using the edited prints used in the Harveytoons Show, but what I wouldn't give to someday see fully restored theatrical prints of the shorts live on this channel someday, particularly the Herman and Katnip, and Modern Madcap shorts.
I noticed that from an upload of their 'Casper' package on RUclips. They didn't even have credits for the animators before the title card.
Least you were able to get it through Frndly... Most if not, all of Montana doesn't have MeTV. And MeTV's a really popular channel for the digital antenna era of TV. The MeTV networks is like TV Land where they played all the retro live action channels. Me TV Toons is like retro Boomerang but I do miss the bumpers where it's all of the original toys in the bumpers.
One other thing I wish they could do to make the channel a bit fun.... have a Boomeraction like block to make it feel all kick-@$$ if you know what I mean.
Or have bumpers with toys, and action figures similar to those Boomerang bumpers.
@Launchpad05 I said that already
Hooray I'm glad about MeTV Toons arrived today.
Not me! I can’t get it, because DirecTV doesn’t carrying it, sorry! Boomerang is where I’m stuck with.
@@Musicradio77Network look don't worry frindy TV & Philo already arrived on streaming service
Speed Racer is officially on the air, for the first time in about two decades (the show hopped around quite a few channels, including MTV, Cartoon Network, and the Speed Network at one point)
Which show currently on the MeTV Toons schedule ran the closet to the modern era? I know The Greatest Adventure: Stories From the Bible program ran into the early 1990's, but I believe The Mask: Animated Series ran all the way to 1997. Did anything go later?
"Duck Dodgers", the 2003-04 series, is on the schedule, and it wouldn't surprise me if they also show some of the 2003 Looney Tunes shorts.
The fall, MeTV Toons would air reruns of The All New Popeye Show (aka The All New Popeye Hour) which I watched it on Cartoon Network as a kid.
I hope the Raleigh area can add a MeTV Toons subchannel soon
Kids can still watch metv toons im pretty sure they don't care about the adult informericals
That's what I think as well.
Is that a Dodger plush toy from "Oliver & Company" that I see in the background?
Yep!
Nice! btw thoughts on the Mask animated series being on MeTV Toons?!
Pretty cool! It's a fun show.
I watched The Mask animated series on Cartoon Network as a kid.
@@ZakWolf Plus, you've got Rob Paulsen voicing The Mask.
metv toons also will be airing scooby doo and flinstones specials on sundays. "the flinstones family sunday" is the name of the block and it's gonna feature some flinstones movies and specials and "Scooby Doo! Sunday Specials" is the name of the block and it's gonna feature the new scooby doo movies and more specials and movies
Unfortunately, My Cable Provider Spectrum doesn't Have MeTv Toons
we wanna know your thoughts about those Interstitials for metv toons:
"cartoon college"
"quick schticks
"metv toons tune"
we wanna know your thoughts about "cartoon all stars"
I havent got it yet
Universal pictures NOT Warner bros pictures
Will the Pac-Man Hannah Barbara cartoon air on MeTV toons?
It could some day.
@@ZakWolf Also, The All New Popeye Show.
@@DennisTamayo I don't recall Cartoon Network airing Hanna-Barbera's 'Popeye'.
@@Launchpad05 Well, Cartoon Network aired The All New Popeye Show in Southeast Asia (including my country) & India.
@@DennisTamayo Ah. In Southeast Asia. NOT America.
