It was implied that because Piccolo died in the future at the hands of the Cyborgs and because Piccolo and Kami weren't fused yet that the Dragon Balls became ineffective and turned to stone, thus not being able to wish for anything in that timeline. My new head canon is now that future trunks told the z fighters in the main timeline that the dragon balls were used before they could wish their friends back to life. Not necessarily that the pilaf gang was there, but just that the dragon balls were used before they could use them. Since then, bulma always makes it a point to have the dragon balls in her possession at all times.
future trunks was a baby at the time and future mai was turned into a baby by the dragon at the time so neither of them have a memory of meeting each other as babies and the fact that future mai doesn´t remember seeing future trunks as a baby proves that mai regressed in age mentaly and not just physically and if that stare they gave each other when they were babies means they had a thing from one another also proves that mai doesn´t have a adult mind and its stupid that people choose to call mai creepy because they want to ignore that mai liking trunks proves that she regressed in age mentaly

My attempt:
1: Maybe the chamber was damaged or someone necessary for its function got killed, or he did, but hit the time limit, and with no one to train with he only got minimal gains, sorta like Trunks and Vegeta since they didn't spar together.
2: I think he had some difficulty locating new namek before? Honestly its been decades... god I'm old. It's possible that on their initial rampage the Androids blew up the major industrial places that would supply spaceship parts? Maybe even blew up some ships as they left?

1. Well, at the time, nobody knew about the hyperbolic time chamber apart from Goku and Kami (and well, you can figure out what happened)
2. New Namek was in a completely different location. The only reason why Goku even got there in the first place was because of his instant transmission
3. I'm not sure why King Kai decided not to help, but I believe it's because there's really nothing he could actually do that could change the events of what was going on at that point in time

I like to think Mai had met Trunks before the Black incident, helping others and somewhat compensating for the Dragon Balls being missed used. Maybe Mai had already told Trunks later on and he accepted that her, just like him, is trying to rebuild the future for the better.
This maybe a bit of a stretch but am shocked Bulma never sent Trunks or Gohan to New Namek given it maintained the cannon of it being wished back which I strongly assumed happen since Krillin, Tien etc are alive but were destroyed by the Andriods. I guess Toriyama wanted to give Trunks all the shine in this arc which was deserved. It would be an interesting what if story if she sent them both to Namek to restore all the Z fighters in that time and what would outcome have been like if Goku was alive.

Why didn't Mr. Popo contact Gohan/Trunks and bring them to train in the hyperbolic time chamber? Mr. Popo was still alive and he knew about the chamber.
Future Popo don't know who Gohan or Trunks is so he wouldn't reach out to them or anyone, he was not the Guardian of earth. Popo probably died from grief of losing Kami.
But Popo knows who Bulma is, and also remember there was the garlic jr saga right before the androids showed up so Popo knows Gohan as well. He’s definitely looking down from the lookout tower so he should’ve rode his magic carpet down there like he did when he picked up Bulma back in Saiyan saga to show her Kami’s old spaceship
@@dnw1987 The Garlic Jr Saga is non canon and not apart of the storyline. Also Popo is not the Guardian of earth just attended of the Guardian of Earth. Without orders from Kami (who was decease) Popo became inactived and probably die from mourning the lost of Kami.

And Gohan clearly didn’t have time to make any wish, anyway, since Piccolo clearly died before they got to where the dragon balls were gathered. And, obviously, they didn’t know what was actually going on at that point since the androids had literally just shown up, and it did seem like Mai and Shu probably thought that maybe Pilaf would make a wish that would take care of the “monsters” as well.

I have the feeling she already told him during their conversations if he ever told her the story. He would be upset, true, but he would also recognize that Pilaf was the one who made the wish, and without consulting Mai or Shu. Further taking into account their situation, he wouldn't have time to dwindle on this, but her being candid with him would allow him to forgive the past mistakes, and see her for who she is now, and what she has done to try and atone by trying to save humanity with him. That's my thoughts.

What do you mean a what if goku survived the heart virus? That was the whole plan of trunks coming back to the past to make sure that's what happened. But he set off a chain of events that turned out a lot more dangerous than the original androids, but we had goku to tell us how to train for a year in a day and make gohan cracked enough to no diff cell the second he starts trying

Trunks finding out that Mai Used the Dragon Balls before Piccolo died would not ruin their relationship. This is anime logic. Only real humans in real life would care about something like that. Trunks would not, because he is a Dragon Ball character.

It is a parallel timeline that still exists. They did a character design flaw after Trunks came back from the past he was older and taller. DBS turned him back into a kid similar to the first time he arrived.
I am more surprised that Trunks timeline Goku did not ask for the one day on Earth like he did in the Buu saga. He would have have helped Gohan and the others to get to New Namek and use the Puranga Dragon Balls.

If he was getting to the point he was dying of a heart disease that was being researched to be cured couldn’t they just have blasted him to death, then brought him back later and after that, cured the heart disease?
So for those in the comments going on about wishing Goku back, it was not possible. Goku died fighting Raditz and was revived before, the esrth dragon balls had a one revive per person rule by Kami so Goku would focus on getting stronger to protect what he charished most. Bulma never knew where new Namek was (a fan manga had her find it) and though it could be argued how the Guru clause worked for Namek, i dont think the same would work for this situation.
That being said, I'd honestly love to see a whatif for goku surviving the heart virus and showing the androids up.
I mean, sure, I see her being blamed for it. Then again, Its not like she didn't saw her closet in what we can call a family get Massacred by some monster. I would still believe even turn as kid your brain well still be development with the added memories. That was brutal but everyone in that timeline had it hard. 😅

Odd recon it feels, while it only makes sense the Pilaf gang had to make their wish somewhere around this time period given Mai's age. Adding that they had to encounter one another at that point seems strange, guess Mai turning into a kid again must be some form of Destiny for Trunks lol. I feel like in some form Trunks already knows. How do you go through all the Goku black shit and not have a discussion on the things that caused it. Mai probably becomes a good person because of Regret and to atone for actions, while she didnt make the wish directly I'm sure she still feels responsible in some way.

They didn't have the idea when Gohan was an adult. In the main timeline they made the wish roughly around the same time they did in the future timeline. The pilaf gang doesn't make an appearence in DBZ(except BoG and RF) and when seen in super they're already 7-8 years old.
If you think about super is on a different timeline then z is because of trunks pulling a Barry and fucking up the timeline
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but how did Pilaf gang even collect the dragon balls without a dragon radar, isn't that highly unlikely? After Vegeta died, why wouldn't Piccolo try to escape while the others tried to hold the Androids off, he knows the dragon balls are done if he dies, or Kami would of told him to escape asap. Lastly, Bulma didn't at any point get a ship together to pull off another Namek trip? Bulma was 100% smart enough to track down & find New Namek

It's not her fault the Z fighters slacked off because according to trucks the new androids were much stronger. They slacked off on there training piccolo never fused with Kami which would've been more than enough to get rid of the androids

dragon ball cant revive people died of natural diseases. the rocket couldnt enter space because the moment it is launched, the android might shoot it down. even if they can wish back everyone, goku still cant be revived , so they will lose and die again

Why did they never go to Namek in the future timeline to use the namekian dragon balls? Popo had all the knowledge, he could of just showed bulma the spaceship like he did in the majn timeline. Bulma goes to namek so Trunks can stay back and protect the earth (This happens after trunks comes back to the future and destroys the androids and cell.) Everyone gets wished back to life, boom everything back to normal.

Pilaf made the wish, Mai was just there. Also if you get turned into a baby, there's no guarantee you'd keep all your memories and remain cognitive. You just might have to start all over again with a blank slate

Goku dying was understandable but not explaining what it was is crazy. Same with Itachi and every other strong character that needs to die. Bulma not telling trunks about namek was very very strange. Where was 16? 17 and 18 would've still probably freed him out of curiosity. He probably lets them do as they please then disagrees with their evil and puts an end to it

Unfortunately Bulma doesn't know where New Namak is at. They only found out where Namak was at in the present is because of Goku using Instant Transmission to find it in the present day.
I’ve never liked this answer… Bulma made a Time Machine… surely she could’ve made a way to find the coordinates to new Namek.
@@dnw1987 Well true, but New Namak was beyond earth galaxy she it would of taken her decades to find it. Remember when Bulma, Gohan and Krillin went to the wrong planet and they thought it was namak and it wasn't they barely made it out without getting the ship stolen. Also why would she go in space alone and she didn't have anyone to accompany her. Trunks was inexperienced and they don't know the unknown dangers that lies in space so she wouldn't taken that chance.

@@kairuparker9949 realistically it wouldn’t of mattered how long it took when you consider bulma developed the Time Machine over decades, so space travel would of taken that much longer other than the fact it would of taken forever to get there.

You can't really blame Pilaf and his gang for this though, he was more along the lines of a Saturday cartoon villain, whenever he faced off against Goku and the gang, he could have won if he used sinister means, such as taking hostages or killing them while they were weak, such as when they caught Goku as he was hungry, but they just locked him up and his friends and then Goku saw the moon turned into an oozaru and wrecked their base, and then later Pilaf and his crew were taken advantage off of stronger and more sinister villains such as King Piccolo, so its why when he finally gets his hands on the dragon balls and is allowed for a wish, he just doesn't care about the circumstances or anything since he had just finally won playing fairly, but unfortunately that selfish wish cost the Earth everything, and if you ask me the people who had the most to blame were Bulma and the Z-Fighters, because the first thing is that they didn't safe guard the dragon balls, after basically knowing that every time the Earth has been in danger is because someone came to Earth while searching for the balls, or for example it was someone on Earth itself like Red the commander for the Red Ribbon army, that wanted to use the balls for themselves, so like Goku did in GT they all should have become guardians of the balls, or if Kami and Mr. Popo were actually smart, they would have locked the balls up somewhere like the room of spirit and time, where time flows differently and not everyone is aware of the location, and heck who knows if due to the fact that its in another dimension, if things like radars and stuff will no longer work, since the original Dragon Ball there were times when not even Bulma's radar would detect some of the balls, because they were hidden somewhere by people that had collected a ball or two, and actually now that I think about it more, if it takes a whole year for the balls to recharge, they are actually very dumb for not picking up the balls as they fly up in the sky, because even if they turned to stone, they could just store them in the room of spirit and time and then only have to wait like a day or two on Earth before they can use them again, since it would have been a year or more while inside the chamber, because if I remember correctly, the reason why Bulma can't collect the balls while they are recharging is because they don't emit sufficient energy to be detectable by a radar, so at least by that point it makes sense, but considering that most of the Z-Fighters can move at ridiculous speeds and fly, it makes no sense why they wouldn't just intercept the balls when they fly off.
oh cares?im glad pilaf made that wish its what gave mai a second chance in live and it is because of that wish that mai and trunks meet later when black invaded future trunks timeline.if it wasn´t for that wish mai would never had a second chance in live and she would have been dead from old age long before black invaded future trunks timeline and she and trunks would never get together
Piccolo most likely fused with Kami to be the most challenging opponent for the Androids. Which is why he lasted longer than anyone else. His plan was probably to get Bulma to gather all the Dragon Balls and wish for a trip to New Namek to summon Porunga for the 3 additional wishes. First wish, revive everyone the Androids killed. Second wish, revive Goku. Third wish...???
Fused piccolo easily destroys the androids. The future androids were not on 1st form cell level.
Can't revive goku because he died of natural causes. And the androids would've just gone back to killing everyone again.
The writers went out their way to make the future terrible like so many things could’ve happened for it to be better for starters just go to namek Goku has IT king Kai exist like u have to ignore the fact they can do all of those things but didn’t
