The most saddest and shocking moment of this episode for me was the death of Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart who was a military man and friend of the Doctor's during his exile on Earth in his third incarnation and was the commander of U.N.I.T. but has met other classic Doctors as well during Classic Who. Nicholas Courtney the actor who played the Brigadier sadly passed away the same year as this episode came out the eye patches in this episode was a real life tribute to him as he played evil Brigadier or Brigade leader as he was called with an eye patch when The Doctor travelled and got lost in a parrallel earth.
What sold it for a while was that River _does_ know the Doctor's name. It's how she identified herself to Ten(nant) when they first met in the Library, and how she gained his trust. And I've heard of _ananas_ as the word for pineapple in at least one foreign language (Hebrew). Don't know about French.
@@marijapurar It's the word for pineapple in just about every language. English is the odd one out. However, the pronunciation (with no /s/ at the end) is peculiarly French.
well, she's the woman who marries him in the real timeline too! I think the confusion of "either she's the woman who marries him or murders him" is just a thing because they didn't consider that she could be both, not about separate timelines
WHAT'S FORGOTTEN BY EVERYONE IS THE TARDIS WHICH COMBINED WITH ROSE CREA TED THE BAD WOLF BUT INFLUENCED THE MELODY BABY TO CREATE RIVER HENCE HER INTENSE FEELINGS IN BOTH CASES
Thank you for a window into a sincere, lengthy friendship. I love watching the two of you together; your reactions to the show are just icing on the cake. My very best regards to you both.
I loved the moment where Amy puts the eyepatch back on Madame Kovarian. Amy can be scary when you go after those she loves.
"I am the mother-in-law" Karen Gillan plays that face so we'll. 😝

Interesting, ananas is just bananas without the B.

Part of the joy of Doctor Who is, it always leaves you with questions.
0:33 "Hey, that's the name of the show!"
The chess player at the begining is Mark Gatiss, the one who played Lazarus in season 3.
