I test drove a Grenadier about a month ago here in Houston, but did not buy. It is a fun vehicle and a wonderful first effort. My opinion for what it is worth: It need to be lifted. I think it sits way to low. The center console screen seems wholly inadequate to be responsible for everything. Way too small and I did not like looking over at it to see where my speed was. I would have rather had zero screen, a normal dash with all analog gauges and an old school radio. That may seem crazy, but people love simplicity. Look at everyone’s love affair with the Land Cruiser 70’s series. Basic and reliable. I could live with the small screen in the center and not having a normal gauge cluster if they had given us a heads up display. (That may have been a challenge with the angle of the windshield.) I have a heads up display in my truck and I look at that more than my gauges below. I did not notice any crazy or abnormal beeping from lane issues that were discussed with the video, but maybe I didn’t stray much that day. There are definitely blind spots in this vehicle, but I would forgive those and these days with lane change warnings it isn’t a huge deal. Power seemed fine when driving. Drivers coming from Land Rover will love the quirks and forgive things that break on this vehicle. Toyota owners may convert to Enos after they prove themselves. See you in 300k miles……I hope.
At 1st I thought it was a Land Rover clone. It could also pass for a G-Wagen. Glad they did such a great job on it. I can also understand the center display instrument cluster. Great review. Very in depth and interesting to hear the owners honest feedback and it seems like a solid choice. I'm with you on this one...for the price, MPGs, support, performance, and unknown potential reliability...there's no way I'd buy this over the new Land Cruiser: better MPGs, better support, much less expensive, Toyota reliability (still a 1st gen here, so somewhat unknown, but still far less concerned), the iForce Max is so much more potent as well. Some ppl call out the solid front axle as being "the thing" for the Ineos, but unless it's a dedicated technical rock crawling machine, there is no real benefit here (IFS will be miles better on paved, dirt, washboard, baja type roads) + you'd really need a large lift and bigger tires to get any flex benefit (and you'd absolutely be cutting into those wheel wells for this).

I love how knowledgeable this owner is. I love a lot of things about this vehicle. I would be a bit concerned about parts availability and warranty support. If I break an axle shaft on my Wrangler, I can easily get a replacement pretty much anywhere. If I had one of these, it would see just as much trail time as my Jeep does. Which would be really my only concern with this over a Wrangler.
Until now I really liked the idea of a Grenadier but now I really, really want one. Also, I've been following TFL* for many years and this video is one of the best Adam is the ideal presenter (hope TFL have made him an offer) for anything Land Rover and now also Ineos-related, he has the whole nine yards backstory to accurately compare and I loved his description of the original Defender (growing up the family car was a 1963 Series II A LWB). Bottom line I have to reconsider the 2018 Wrangler JL in the garage and do some comparison shopping and $ for feature reality checks. Thanks as always to TFL and Tommy. Brilliant!
Adam, like most of the car enthusiast that come on your channels seems like an incredibly happy good focused person who really likes their vehicle. Except for the binnacle, not in front of the driver, I’m holding off full judgment until you guys get your hands on one and we see what it’s like after six months and some long-distance trips and some definite off-road use on those wonderful trails you go on.
I'm starting to see a lot of these on the road in the UK and they look really cool. Its great they are coming to the US as the original Defender 110 wasn't an option. (and this looks to drive much better!)
I am interested.... if this thing can go for over 200k miles then it is worth it. It is different, I was interested in the Defender, but longevity was a concern. Wonder how the Grenadier holds up. Those seat covers are really nice though!
Great video... I have had my Grenadier for less than a month... an amazing 6,886 kilometres in a month... Our Grenadier is positively brilliant... Yes, I have a few minor niggles and software things, but overall ... Brilliant ... odd warnings, but then I did not read the manual. I have owned a 200 Series Landcruiser and, years back, an old Landrover. The Grenadier - now known as "Cedric" is exactly what I wanted... Love it and most importantly - so does the Co-driver!
This thing is awesome. All the offroader anybody would ever need. I love the looks, the overhead switch gear is so cool. Simple overhead pop-open windows, inline 6... Two things that are terrible is the Euro-sedan shifter (seriously, wtf) and the lack of gauges over the steering wheel. So dumb to have the most utility utility ever and then no gauges. This really has to stop. My gauge cluster shows everything and is right there all the time. No digging around in a screen out of my line of sight for my transmission temp. So ridiculous. Besides those two things, you bet I'd keep it for 10 years too. Looks super fun to drive. 86 grand is not bad against the current prices of stuff. It sucks, but that's the price of nice trucks now.
That should have been posted as a "dude I love or hate my ride"! Great video though Tommy! Nice when owners know their stuff too. The one bit of info I'm still waiting to learn is the American GVWR and Payload.
I really like mine and mirror alot of the same thoughts. No regrets so far but time will tell. I am pushing for 30yrs ownership. Sounds a little crazy but my 2 main dailies are 29yrs and 34yrs old and still rocking. I have no doubt my Trialmaster will push well past that age.
I tested this vehicle a couple of days ago. Maybe this car is good for the UK, but I think in Australia it will not last long. This is not a Toyota LC 70-series or an old version of the Nissan Patrol. It looks and feels more like an expensive toy than a real off-road machine.
@@australia-ukraine yeah I'm very doubtful the B58 is tough enough for this application. We all know it's one of the best BMW engines ever and can handle high speeds and more power... but does that translate to the extreme abuse of low range and everything that comes with off-roading.
wow, great stuff... pity he wasn't able to get a diesel over there... Biggest issue i heard in UK has been steering feel on road... but i love that they built this thing...
Had mine for 12k miles now in the UK, steering feel on road is perfectly fine. At speed it's really solid and stable. The wheel doesn't return to centre aggressively at low speed but honesty you get used to it in 5 minutes

The problem I had was the catalytic converter intrudes into the drivers space, just where I would rest my left foot, to the extent that I could not get comfortable. The windshield cracks have been seen on several owners videos which is interesting. The rake of the windshield is so straight I can only imagine this headache happening so often.
Driving D.C. to Philly is like a 2.5 - 3 hour drive. If it requires a lot of warranty work, that would drive me crazy... and that's assuming the vehicle doesn't need to be towed in. More power to him if he can deal with it. It's his time and money.
This is why I’d never own one. I don’t have a local dealer, and let’s be honest, this will not be reliable. It is a brand new car from a brand new manufacturer. It is expected.
Excellent video and top-notch presentation! Your new Grenadier owner (Adam?), reveals himself as a Land Rover owner of the old school. Those folks, literally every single one of them, men and women alike, that I knew back in the 1960's and into the mid-1980's, were well schooled in what Land Rovers (i.e. the Series vehicles pre-Defender nameplate) in why they purchased, owned and drove Land Rovers rather than ANY other vehicle from ANY other manufacturer. I suspect most "Land Rover Defender" buyers in this day and age in the United States make their purchases because of the curb appeal and status the vehicle and its historical image brings with it. "Adam" appears to have considerable product knowledge about not only Land Rover's products, but about the new Grenadier as well. Watching this video, listening carefully to what Adam and Tommy had to say, makes me thankful my wife threw cold water on my out of control desire to purchase a new 2023 left-over Jeep Gladiator. My wife, Debbie, is an accountant. She's heard mention to the "new Grenadier" for the last several years. What she has not yet heard from me is that Ineos will soon have a pickup version of the Grenadier for sale on the U.S. market! I'll admit to a long-term prejudice against all-things BMW. This goes back to the 1960's and Max Hoffman. Said prejudice goes back to the Rover 2000TC vs the BMW 2002. Bias and prejudice is very bad; it can last for decades. Until today, and this video, I was not about to seriously consider a Grenadier just because of its BMW engine. Thank you, Tommy, TFL, and Adam for bringing me into the 21st Century! Andy McKane, 4 January 2024, Maunaloa, Hawaii.
Quality wise, from what I've been hearing this is a good risk vs Land Rover. Only because Land Rover has a problematic reputation... I am rooting for the Grenadier but at the same time I'm gonna give it a year or two out in the hands of the public and see how the entirety of the experience plays out..
I drove by our Ineos dealer here in Canada last week and saw them in stock, on the ground and in the showroom. But, they were closed for the Holidays. I look forward to sitting in one next week. I am sure this company will last. It is owned by Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, the richest man in the UK, and Ineos earned $55 Billion in 2022, so I'm certain that they are on solid ground. This is a real automobile company.
Looks like a dual band antenna on the back? Is Adam a Ham? Glad he stopped by an let y'all use his new ride to give us some insight. There are so many things I like about the INEOS stuff, and so many things I have concerns about. I can't wait to see what time shows us about these vehicles.
Ineos’s biggest problem is that you can’t run a successful automotive car company with just one vehicle type, in three different forms. Tesla has several different types of cars and a ute???? Land Rover has Defender , Discovery, and Range Rover with numerous adaptations, sports, velar, equoue, etc etc. Ineos with just three basic models ain’t gonna survive!!! Gr8 video!!! Regards Ian 👨🎤🇳🇿👍
i had no idea i wanted this till i saw the video now I'm going down the rabbit hole of gathering all the information on it I can, we have a dealer in CO Springs so not even to far drive.
Cant wait for them to hit the second hand market and hopefully at a reasonable price, over the years i had a series iia , a 300tdi , a td5 , and have a 110 puma right now . I can see the grenadier been the next . Really is what i wish landrover did and totally see why ineos built it.
In the earliest Series Landrovers ( before it was rechristened with the jingoistic Defender moniker) the largest engines were old Rover sixes , solid smooth and torquey - but not powerful!
I have a Sela Green Trialmaster with the steelie wheels, roof rack, NO safari windows on order. This made me feel better about my choices, including the lack of safari windows.
Joe public would have no idea what a Grenadier is. Most knowledgeable car people would say it’s a MB G-Wagon. I love that it uses an old school ignition key, has a sewing machine smooth inline 6 motor and is built like a tank. That door shut “thud” was very satisfying. It well remains elusive in the US due to the $73k + selling price. I can see this being a 250,000 mile vehicle before any major service is required.
The loaded version is 95K. The goodies are amazing. Must have all the options to enjoy. The 30/70 rear doors are a great selling point for me. No competition. Add the WoldBox 300 series rear view mirror. It will take front and rear video 24/7.
10:55 Looks like he picked up a crack on his windshield. My bet is it happened in WA State. Crazy how common this is here with 3 of my 4 cars having windshield dings or cracks. When I was living in the southeast I never remember that happening.
That was my first thought too when I heard what engine this thing has. 85k for a car from an unknown manufacturer from the UK (oh my) who uses not the most reliable engines on the market ... insane IMO. I would only trust one company from the UK: Lotus... because they use Toyota engines in their ICE cars. This guy clearly loves risk and adventure. I respect that! It's his money and possible headache 😂
Funny, in Europe where I live, the straight six BMW is considered the best engine in the market. (The M series BMWs are race cars and maintenance is a different story. It is a British company Engineered by Germans and Austrians (Mercedes/Steyr) Built in France (Former Mercedes assembly line) On a Portugese chassis A true European😉 Not cheap, it is not ment to be, but really 😎
I’m a Jeep guy. But this is pretty neat and good competition for other off road vehicles. Would be interesting to see the comparison videos I’m sure are coming. It looks cool. Agree with diesel if it were to come. An interesting point though is my JK with 38” tires and 4.5” lift gets the same gas mileage… I average 14-16 mpg on mixed city/highway.
I wonder what tow ratings it has with that i6 but yeah the economy is poor there must he some benefit? Jeeps been at it a long time I get 19 in my 2 door soft top manu jk on 35s rubicon

Great video and thoughtful presentation. I also value the experience of the owner with other LR products, so that makes the comparison even more meaningful.
The owner gave a great review. I don't agree with some of his thoughts on the old defender. 200 or 300tdi motors are better than the gas V8. More reliable and much more economical. I drove a Grenadier off road. I'm sticking with my LR4 and old school defender.
The only issue with the axle diff locks is that they will only work in low range. Sometimes it’s useful to have axle diff locks on the flat in high range.
Same as the wrangler. They are not allowed to do it due to safety issues. There are too many idiots out there who would drive with them locked on a normal road going flat out.
I think most people would only really be using the locks in 4 low situations, though I'm sure being all electronically controlled there will be someone who finds a way to modify the programming to allow the diffs to be locked in high range as well.
@@ALMX5DP on a muddy flat farm it can be better to have axle lockers in high range, especially when you don’t want to damage the ground with wheelspin.
One of the most knowledgeable owners. Also easy going, disappointing to see windshield needing replacement on such a high placed windshield so early. I learned that height doesn’t matter as much as I would wish.
Saw one driving the streets of Fresno ca. Glad they’re popping up here now. would love to see more of these. They look awesome here’s to hoping they last a while
Somebody will make a killing if they create a Defender conversion for the front end of that Grenadier. Apart from that and the questionable BMW long term engine reliability it looks to be a great package.
On the fence between the Ineos and the Lexus GX550 Overtrail. Price wise the Ineos is more and after watching Brad at his Trail Recon channel and getting stuck on some familiar trails in the Ineos and having to engage lockers I’m again leaning towards the Lexus GX550 Overtrail. I think I would say buying an Ineos with the rough pack is a must for any off-roading that I’d be doing. Hopefully there will be a GX550 vs Grenadier soon. Great commentaryand testing from both the channel and the Ineos owner. Appreciate it very much

It's not a new company per se. They exist as a company and thriving business since decades. The first offroad they produce is already thebest 4x4 on the market. The vehicle is from the UK but European in the make. The testing period had been thorough with prototypes on all continents prior to production fixing issues. The distribution channel and relationship with the after market is smart. The Grenadier had already disrupted the market. It is build to be durable. It conquers hearts. Gray review, enjoyed it.

Which would be really my only concern with this over a Wrangler.
lol u won’t need parts
@@XHPBT1 Why do you think that? Its a regular occurrence for vehicles to break off road. And that goes for all makes and models.
My first one was wracked with issues BUT the second is blinding - done 12k mls so far and I love them
Ineos have been amazing throughout I have to say
Brilliant!
Looks to be well built and has great curb appeal. Love it!
I think you mean kerb appeal!!
(Curb is like halt or desist such as Curb your enthusiasm). The concrete road edge is a kerb.
Great guest, knew his stuff, and had a great attitude!
Finally! The video I've waited 3,5 years on this channel. Thanks for this review! Hope they succeed in the US! Good job colleagues! 🎉🎉🎉
I like the editing of this vehicle, splitting up the testing and talking was refreshing.
He literally sounds like a ineos sales rep. In a good way, he seems to know his stuff and didn’t buy blindly and is active in online communities
Thank you!! Ive been following these, and am contemplating going from an older Jeep to this.
This guy is pretty smart. Really think it will be a collector one day. Great results as well!
This was a great watch and such an honest review of the vehicle 👏
Absolutely love the Grenadier and I can't wait for the TFL Grenadier to arrive.
Tommy - these slip tests are awesome - even with Full Locker vehicles (front, middle, rear) :) thanks!
Same here. My primary trail rig a 96 Montero is about 30. But had to have the ifs torn out of course
I wonder how tough the B58 will be in the long term for off-roading conditions.
Just saw one of these for the first time where I live in Pennsylvania. Definitely was shocked to see it
wow, great stuff... pity he wasn't able to get a diesel over there...
How is the legroom as driver? The catalytic converter seems to reduce space.
@DerSnipOr leg room is ok. there's a footrest for the left foot, but it genuinely causes me no issues. Seating position is quite upright.
Had a drive in a right hand drive one before Christmas. The problem I had was the catalytic converter intrudes into the drivers space, just where I would rest my left foot, to the extent that I could not get comfortable. Having said that I am tall , 190cm, 6"3"". Some one smaller might not find it such a problem.@@DerSnipOr
Somehow I am glad living in Europe.. got the original version with no lane assist but with the diesel engine. 3500kms now. Excellent vehicle.
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
The windshield cracks have been seen on several owners videos which is interesting. The rake of the windshield is so straight I can only imagine this headache happening so often.
i would have to get something reinforced
A common Jeep problem too. Upright, flat windshields don't let rocks glance off easily.
What a great honest review!! This is definitely on my short list as my LR4 replacement.
That truck is gorgeous! So happy it’s here in the US. I’m keeping my Land Rover, but who know 10 years down the road what I might get.
I like that Grenadier, looks well made quality vehicle.
You may be surprised. It’s not been thrown together from scratch. The components have been developed/provided by experienced companies in their field.
But doesn’t solve the dealer geographic though 😹
@@davidgirvan6007
Just go to your closest dealer
Hey it won’t affect me as I could not afford one. And if I could my local dealer is only about 10 miles away anyway. Not like the US
Excellent video and top-notch presentation!
Id absolutely love one of these in a few years when I can afford one, or they offer a more base model. I really wish the company best of luck!
Well done interview. Your best yet.
This is one of those "if only I could find that kind of money somewhere" vehicles.
I thought Adam was very well spoken. Similar to Tommy. Great vocabulary and thoughtful insights.
I haven't driven it yet, but yes it is!! I would love to have one, once they get cheaper
Just saw one of these today in Naples FL, thought it was update Defender! So cool!
We made things like this here in the United States in the 1990s. Unfortunately, solid front axle SUVs are only manufactured overseas nowadays
i had no idea i wanted this till i saw the video now I'm going down the rabbit hole of gathering all the information on it I can, we have a dealer in CO Springs so not even to far drive.
Cant wait for them to hit the second hand market and hopefully at a reasonable price, over the years i had a series iia , a 300tdi , a td5 , and have a 110 puma right now . I can see the grenadier been the next . Really is what i wish landrover did and totally see why ineos built it.
I think I saw one of these at Killington in Vermont last week. But like he said the badging is subtle, so I didn't know what I was seeing.
I think the 70/30 door is a design advantage because there is 30% less door for the spare tire carrier side hinges to stress over.
In the earliest Series Landrovers ( before it was rechristened with the jingoistic Defender moniker) the largest engines were old Rover sixes , solid smooth and torquey - but not powerful!
*Tommi /Adam - Brilliant Analysis Of 2024 - Granedier - I Want It In INDIA ❤Lots Of Love To This SUV*
I have a Sela Green Trialmaster with the steelie wheels, roof rack, NO safari windows on order. This made me feel better about my choices, including the lack of safari windows.
Same but wife had to have the safari windows
I just saw one of these in my neighborhood today. At first I thought it was a Range Rover. Looks cool.
It's hilarious telling people you are switching brands to Ineos. The blank stares are priceless
the name came from a pub called the Grenadier in Belgravia (London) where Radcliff conceived the idea...
Yep! I lived in Eastern WA where they like to chip seal their roads. I had many visits to Novus Glass to repair rock chips on my windshields..
Great review!
I think this company should have used Toyota engines instead of BMW. 11:02...he already has a crack in the windshield
The newer bmw engines are solid.. It's why Toyota put a bmw engine in the supra and the windshield is flat so it will most likely get cracked
Toyota uses bmw engines ….
Funny, in Europe where I live, the straight six BMW is considered the best engine in the market. (The M series BMWs are race cars and maintenance is a different story.
It is a British company
Engineered by Germans and Austrians (Mercedes/Steyr)
Built in France (Former Mercedes assembly line)
On a Portugese chassis
A true European😉
Not cheap, it is not ment to be, but really 😎
Yeah if you're going to get a BMW engine you get one of their I6 units. Theyre easily the best.

I love this thing. Love that it has tech, but nothing ridiculous. Seems like a usable SUV. The price...eeeesh
It’s the coolest car of the year!
Same on the Toyota 4Runner. Rear diff lock is only available in 4Lo.
I think with the Mojave gladiator after 2022 you can lock the rear differential in hi.
Awesome, I had no idea the Grenadier was in America.
Saw one driving the streets of Fresno ca. Glad they’re popping up here now. would love to see more of these. They look awesome here’s to hoping they last a while
Saw baby blue color in Portland Oregon, wow it looks amazing in person, really really cool truck
Appreciate it very much
Great episode interesting
I really like these slip tests. Especially the 3-wheel tests.
Waiting for Grenadier versus Cybertruck crash test!
Love the knobs and buttons but they didn't go far enough. Should have a dash cluster.
When he said he did a break in oil change @ 650 miles 👍🏽 good on you sir.
Thank you guys. I am a HUGE fan of the old Land Rover Defender, hopefully, they've simplified to make it more reliable
everyone that i run into while driving this car thinks it's a defender. they cannot tell. lol
@@JackMcRoberts definitely has channeled its vibe
This is what the Defender would be if Land Rover had evolved it every 8 years or so like a Jeep Wrangler instead of leaving it in 1983.
@@bwofficial1776 Agreed, loved the utilitarian of it, but it needed updating. Why can't deep-pocket Toyota re-imagine the Land Cruiser and Mercedes G-wagon
Looks fantastic to me! Unfortunately for me I will never have one so I will have to stick to my old Defender. The B pillar has already deformed my shoulder so might as well stick with it anyway...
Cool video, nicely done.
Awesome review. Great job. Ineos is preparing to build in the USA with in the next 5 years or less.
If Ineos wants to stick around for a long time, they're going to have to fix the price. $71k starting price is just way too high.
Yes cause there's no other brands that are expensive...
Nice , I ordered with the same color ❤
This vehicle looks awesome in real life, especially the two-tone paint
Speedo impacting screen size is not an excuse; its cost cutting to avoid having a separate speedo.
maybe the screen design is for left and right hand markets , flip the speedometer to the left or right hand side of the of the screen to be closer to the driver ?
