We hired a car for visiting gozo, it was pretty cheap and give us more flexibility, but there is a bus system in place which is pretty good and there is a dedicated sightseeing bus too :)
Gozo is a nightmare during the hunting season. As if one season was not enough in winter, they also have to kill innocent birds during spring. The noise is unbearable. How is this legal?
