  • Something a little different today I hope you like it :)
    Over the past couple of weeks as you might have seen from my live videos I have been trying to work out a good method of catching on tricky swims when the river is running fast and full of colour.
    A few comments on my videos led me to believe that fishing the pole feeder was the way to go so here is my session trying it out and looking to see if this method could be a good addition to my armory for upcoming winter matches.
    I have since decided that the hookup is better than using a cable tie, could even use a piece of offcut elastic, topping up is important, the bristle doesn't do too much but looks good :) (you feel the bites)
    During the video I make reference to a couple of videos that gave me some inspiration, these can be found here

    Special credit goes to @stevenflint5271 for putting me onto the method and my pal Mark Eves for the encouragement to do better

      I cannot wait to give it another go. I have bought some Preston 6 solid elastic which should show up the bites better than the pink hydro that I was using.

    Years ago I used to fish that peg for chub regularly. In fact you're sitting just a few feet from where I fished for the very first time as a young child - a day I refer to in my latest book, "End Peg". I hope you get into some of those hard fighting Thames chub. Good luck.

      Hi Peter, I haven't fished for Chub on the upper moors yet but I did have a few on a match on Culham reach a few weeks back and yesterday just along from Abbey meadows in Abingdon as you can see here ruclips.net/video/B3an_inPtx8/видео.html

    yah so good to see you got it working m8, just thinking maybe try add some Terre de river (leam) after you mixed your ground bait up help get it down in that deep / fast flow (balling mix)

      Thanks Steven. I think the balls go down quicker than the feeder but it couldn’t hurt I guess. I have a bucket of mole hill soil I can try.

    What is the size of your pole?

      @thefishingstream  9 месяцев назад

      Hi there, In the video I’m using it at 13m (can go up to 16m)

  • @Jiadiaoni
    @Jiadiaoni 9 месяцев назад

    It’s almost the same as the Chinese fishing method.

    • @thefishingstream
      @thefishingstream  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, very similar to all those clips I see on TikTok, the difference is that poles here have internal elastic. The equivalent we have is a whip but they are used for much smaller fish.

      This kind of pole looks very heavy. How heavy is the heaviest fish you caught? @@thefishingstream

    • @thefishingstream
      @thefishingstream  9 месяцев назад

      @@Jiadiaoni I believe it is 1379grams - largest fish would be a 20lb Carp.

      In our company, the fishing rod used for fishing big fish is 11 meters, and the weight is: 950g. It can actually catch carp 81lb. @@thefishingstream

      @@Jiadiaoni Yes I saw the videos, very impressive. I expect my pole is less than that weight at that length as most of the weight is in the last 3 sections that take it to 16m. As for fish we do not have carp that big in the UK - most fish caught on the pole are less than 10lb.
