I had to laugh because I just said I was going to go heavy on the brakes and not go too fast... and then 30 seconds later I'm hitting 50 km an hour haha
With a schedule like yours, you body has to stop you anyway it can. Thrilled you back,quite a challenge you have lined up for 2025. Recover gently...let your body be the boss.
@ I mean that is the main thing 😂 u definitely got it though. If I could do it again I might have given myself more rest days tbh ! I was on a time crunch but it would have helped a ton to have some low/no mileage days ! Also plan ahead for the tunnels that cyclists aren’t allowed to pass through! The busses can be iffy about taking cyclists through. Best of luck out there sister!
The key to endurance is just go out there and ride every day ride ride ride, endurance will come with time. It does help to have somebody to ride with to help motivate you.

Yes, that crash was a wake up call... I am actually very cautious, but I was trying to keep up with a friend in that crash. Lesson learned - only stay in my comfort zone!

Tackling 120 km a day in Iceland is going to be quite a task, but I have no doubt that your strength and perseverance will get you there. Please keep a close eye on your pressure points for redness, and the fact that you’re doing all of this while being paralyzed is truly amazing. I am so amazed at what you are doing, I am 84 and have lived a life of hard work and raising children and now find myself with AMD and very hard of hearing, so at times i feel sorry for my self as i canno longer be independent as far as driving or even buying groceries by myself as i cannot see prices , but after watching what you can do by yourself, i try not to compliain,. sounds like the gear setscrew needs to be adjusted. It ginds like that when it's not centered on the sproket its only 2 screws on the back end. If you go with a geared hub it's more reliable but less gears and a little more weight. The advantage is you can shift into any gear at any time with a geared hub. Gears are lighter and more options for the ratio you want

My little 10 foot off-road trailer is the same way every time you get in or out your track dirt and debris in, I keep my little blue trailer Broom and dustpan right next to the door. I think this is common with all full-time campers and vanlifers Just something we have come to accept as part of the daily routine.
I really enjoyed going along with you on that ride! You gave yourself quite a workout. One thought: I do hope that you carry bear spray with you on trips like that and keep it readily available. Bears have a habit of suddenly being there when you weren't expecting them!

Oh how I wish you could run a class to help me and many others get motivated! I wish so much to one day get a bike like yours however I don’t think I could ever afford it. Please think about possibly having an introductory class on wheelchair exercise and motivation. You truly make me cry when I see how strong, powerful and amazing you are.
Thanks for posting your videos. I have chronic tendonitis in my left hamstring and left knee. It gets so bad that I need a walker. It kind of bummed me out that I wouldn't get to travel when I have my episodes of stiffness/soreness. Now that I see you getting about it gives me hope that I can adapt myself to also travel. Thanks!

I'm in a wheelchair as well, I completely understand the continuous thoughts of everything that could go wrong. I flew across the country by myself for the first time a few years ago, I was pretty nervous! Especially because of the connecting flights. But nervousness changed to pride when I landed successfully. It's tough when something happens and all the things that used to be simple, now require extra time and prep. To have your whole life change in a blink of an eye. But just because it's different, doesn't mean it's bad. You are a wonderful example of that. Beautiful job on the bike ride, absolutely amazing!! I hope you have the best time in Iceland!
Wow, that was a great video! I thoroughly enjoyed it. You make me miss my mountain bike that I sold years ago. You can do the 75 miles/day for 14 days in Iceland! Train, train, train! You rock! P.S. I also crave the solitude in nature and I totally get it.
Great video. Handicapper here with 30-years of recumbent riding. Prefer 2WD, Rohloff gearbox. Could not get off for chain issue or flat tire. Hase Lepus' here w/25-inch seat height. Wheelchair, twin forearm crutches here. Deer darting on a downhill would easily flip a tadpole if emergency braking. Cannot ride tadpoles for 15 years (getting on/off). Solid rubber tires here too. Fun to watch!

I am very glad that i stumbled across your chanel the last 5 years have been absolutely miserable for me a 5 way bypass and while they were doing that they found lung cancer it has been in the last couple of months that i have started live again i took delivery on a electric trike recently recently and am working to to keep the pedal assist as low as i can we will see how this works out i had just started working on my bus i am just now working on it again it has turned into a big mess for now i am seeing what happens Best of luck with your Iceland trip

I have! I climbed some indoor walls in Bend and San Francisco. Unfortunately, my shoulder is pretty bad so climbing isn't the best sport for me. I'm listening to an audiobook right now called "Take the Lead" and it's really making me wish I could do it again.

Hard won trips are well worth it. I'm a solo paddler. Kayak an sups, can be brutal sometimes but it's amazing.

Chronic pain is definitely life changing. There is still so much I cannot do because of it, but it makes me appreciate what I can do even more.

it's an electronic shifter so I needed an app to adjust it and was out of cell service! oh technology! It's working better now that I've adjusted it.

Prefer 2WD, Rohloff gearbox. Could not get off for chain issue or flat tire.
Hase Lepus' here w/25-inch seat height. Wheelchair, twin forearm crutches here.
Deer darting on a downhill would easily flip a tadpole if emergency braking.
Cannot ride tadpoles for 15 years (getting on/off). Solid rubber tires here too.

I am very glad that i stumbled across your chanel the last 5 years have been absolutely miserable for me a 5 way bypass and while they were doing that they found lung cancer it has been in the last couple of months that i have started live again i took delivery on a electric trike recently recently and am working to to keep the pedal assist as low as i can we will see how this works out i had just started working on my bus i am just now working on it again it has turned into a big mess for now i am seeing what happens

I have! I climbed some indoor walls in Bend and San Francisco. Unfortunately, my shoulder is pretty bad so climbing isn't the best sport for me. I'm listening to an audiobook right now called "Take the Lead" and it's really making me wish I could do it again.
