    These are so great! The part where we got lost in translation just got me and couldn’t help but smile profusely. It did resonate quite well however as I try to print and mock up my work in my own diy way. It’s definitely not the most efficient method of production but I would at least encourage every one to do so with whatever equipment at hand. The amount of knowledge gained about printing and camera work, and also understanding irl sizes and print for marks, for me was priceless.
    Love from South Korea ❤️

    i prefer number 2. mart committed to leaving the joker hat deisgn behind and it worked. i think once he brought the dots back in number 3 it didn’t quite fit with the style of his logo

    2. Love the simplicity and that it isn't forcing a beautiful mark to be a joker hat and rather using that as inspiration for such a nice overall shape.

    The new 322 looks awesome great work by Mart he balanced and minimalized the logo and it looks really smart, never the less if it was very crucial to maintain the joker look i would keep only the top dot and get rid on the side ones 21:04 but personally I love it without. Good job.

  • @4kisc

    Holy moly, that "C" was absolutely amazing. My goodness, pure magic.
    Mart's redesign definitely was an improvement. I may not have had the movement and flow to it like the first one but it's something about geometric designs that feel and look better.
    (If you choose to have more typographic episodes, I wouldn't mind. I'm trying to learn more about type. Just purchased 'Designing Type' and learning so much about nuances of letterforms.)

    hi thefutur team, I have a suggestion to make. Since you ask designers to prepare screen capture of the process ahead of airtime, maybe you can take the original video so that Chris could play it from his laptop.
    The benefits of that would be the ability for Chris to stop exactly where he wants to make a comment or a highlight while providing the stream or YT viewers with higher resolution and fewer frame drops.
    thank you for your content, helps me to sort out many small but significant details of my workflow )

    In response to that roundness the D in logo design you often have to forgo consistency for just good readability. One of my favorite examples is this is the 7-Eleven logo has a lowercase N but every other letter is capital

    I love these videos. It’s great to see logos transformed and how - in some cases - small changes can make a big difference. Kudos to Mart, I love his interpretation of the 322 GUILD logo (props to RD Rogacion for the original joker hat concept, great idea and starting point). My favourite is #2, strong, clean and simple design. It does lose the joker hat reference, so I think Chris was right to bring the three dots back in the final version, but it doesn’t look quite right. Maybe changing the three dots from circles to diamond shapes would work better. I’m sure with more time Mart would’ve tried this. Great job anyway. Both Mart and Olguin are exceptional designers. Props also to Chris Do and the team for putting these videos together. I’m a huge fan. Hi from the UK, much love 🤙🏻

    By the way, I'm not sure if anyone clarified, but I think "Asian pink" was referring to the very common pink color used by Asian cosmetics brands in their logos/packaging (Etude House, Canmake, Banila Co, etc). I think Blueberry Cosmetics wanted to stay away from it since they seem to also be a retail site for Korean cosmetic brands (checked out their website to see). A lot of other similar sites and brands use "Asian pink" for familiarity, but it is overused in the industry.
    Hope that's useful info for some people unfamiliar with the cosmetics industry!

    I do feel a bit better for the 3rd option with the 3 dots. If the gaming team does use the word joker when they are playing or whatever I think having that little bit to reference an actual joker hat would be a nice touch overall. Because otherwise it just feels like it's just a crown.

    Love this, as I'm starting to focus more on typography Glyphs is something I plan to get in a few weeks just because the vector tools are more robust and over greater control.
    Question: I know you've told us many times how to get our logos critiqued, but how would we submit if we want to be the person who's critiquing other people's work? I would love to do one an a logotype as I see a lot of people making the same mistakes when drawing/customizing type.

    This is a great idea for a show, and an excellent set of designers and commentators. Love what you guys are doing. One suggestion... maybe I missed it, but is there somewhere where you give some background about the brands whose logos are being redesigned, and the motivation for the redesign? The Blueberry logo in particular is clearly changing the impression of the brand toward something that looks much higher-end/more expensive, and there are some formal advantages to what was done. But if Blueberry wanted to maintain a more natural/down-to-earth sensibility, this mark wouldn’t serve them well.

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  5 лет назад +1

      it's up to each designer to talk to the person who submitted the logo. sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I don't want to create a bigger imposition on their time as it is. but if you like this series, we just added a 3rd set of reviewers.

  • @mikes2259
    @mikes2259 5 лет назад +2

    No dots is better. Without the organic curves the dots make it more of a crown than a joker hat. I would, however, show both to the client. They're both good logos, and if we discuss the differences in the designs they can decide if they want more of a crown logo or not. Since both logos are good there's no reason not to offer choices and allow them to choose the one that suits their preferences more.

    In regard to the 322 Guild joker logo, the improved version is more readable but is too blocky and has lost some of its zest and graffiti/gangster vibe. The original has curves and I like how the number 2 points slightly to the right. I also like how the outlines of the numbers vary in thickness, whereas the new version all has the same thickness. I think that the original could be improved upon by making the numbers more readable. In addition, the logo type could be made horizontal below the hat rather than curved upward.
    The new version could work with some modifications. Right now, the top part looks like the top part of a star, rather than a joker's hat. Perhaps experiment with varying the line thickness of the number outlines and looking at alternative typefaces. Also, it needs some slight curve contours to add energy and movement. It's too static. Not sure about the circles, but I would never know it's a joker hat, even with the circles. Adding the contours and thick and thin lines would help.

So Inkscape can do stuff that illustrator can't it has real-time path editing and real-time path effects also alignment tools are a lot better, the only downside is color management, but there is a workaround for that. Hey guys! Thank you very much for choosing our logo. It was really good to see your effort analysing my work, and also trying to say my name :)
    We are now having a very interesting dialogue on how to approach a logo re-design.
    We also love the mockup, but sadly, we are not cosmetic manufacturers, we sell a range of brands that have their own packaging, so theres not much we can do about it!
    About the "pink asian trend" :) When we first thought about the project, we agreed that we wanted to stay away from image that the rest of the Korean cosmetics shops in Spain had, mostly pink designs, and tried to make it more appealing for a variety of segments, so we went for that blue and white scheme that we apply in all our designs, including our webpage: bblueberry.com/
    It was really good to see you guys in action. Thank you very very much!!!

    It doesn't look like a jokers hat anymore even with the dots. Esports logo definitely needs bright colors

    Of course the round dots weren’t gonna work. He should have tried little losange-shaped ones, to fit with the numbers.

    Wish there was more options than Facebook. I don't have a facebook anymore and don't want to ever get back on that platform.

      @@thefutur Would Twitter work? I know I am in the minority but am sure theres more of us here that don't like what facebook has done in terms of privacy. I also know that Facebook owns Instagram, but even there it doest ask/need my private personal info. I understand why you chose Facebook and do not blame you for my personal choice not to join the platform. Wasn't complaining, just wishing/mentioning it.
