2. Love the simplicity and that it isn't forcing a beautiful mark to be a joker hat and rather using that as inspiration for such a nice overall shape.

So much inspiring content! Even more inspiring is seeing how Chris went from semi-shy workshops with Jose to completely owning the camera and host environment.
47:15 We can select and move only the points with the keyboard but not the handles in Illustrator, but in Glyphs, you can select and move the handles with the keyboard. That is the difference.
The new 322 looks awesome great work by Mart he balanced and minimalized the logo and it looks really smart, never the less if it was very crucial to maintain the joker look i would keep only the top dot and get rid on the side ones 21:04 but personally I love it without. Good job.
Holy moly, that "C" was absolutely amazing. My goodness, pure magic. Mart's redesign definitely was an improvement. I may not have had the movement and flow to it like the first one but it's something about geometric designs that feel and look better. (If you choose to have more typographic episodes, I wouldn't mind. I'm trying to learn more about type. Just purchased 'Designing Type' and learning so much about nuances of letterforms.)
hi thefutur team, I have a suggestion to make. Since you ask designers to prepare screen capture of the process ahead of airtime, maybe you can take the original video so that Chris could play it from his laptop. The benefits of that would be the ability for Chris to stop exactly where he wants to make a comment or a highlight while providing the stream or YT viewers with higher resolution and fewer frame drops. thank you for your content, helps me to sort out many small but significant details of my workflow )
In response to that roundness the D in logo design you often have to forgo consistency for just good readability. One of my favorite examples is this is the 7-Eleven logo has a lowercase N but every other letter is capital
FYI, Glyphs is for making typefaces. That along with robofont are solid because the UI is more modern that the outdated Fontographer. Personally, I wouldn't use Glyphs for logos, I would use Illustrator instead.
I love these videos. It’s great to see logos transformed and how - in some cases - small changes can make a big difference. Kudos to Mart, I love his interpretation of the 322 GUILD logo (props to RD Rogacion for the original joker hat concept, great idea and starting point). My favourite is #2, strong, clean and simple design. It does lose the joker hat reference, so I think Chris was right to bring the three dots back in the final version, but it doesn’t look quite right. Maybe changing the three dots from circles to diamond shapes would work better. I’m sure with more time Mart would’ve tried this. Great job anyway. Both Mart and Olguin are exceptional designers. Props also to Chris Do and the team for putting these videos together. I’m a huge fan. Hi from the UK, much love 🤙🏻
By the way, I'm not sure if anyone clarified, but I think "Asian pink" was referring to the very common pink color used by Asian cosmetics brands in their logos/packaging (Etude House, Canmake, Banila Co, etc). I think Blueberry Cosmetics wanted to stay away from it since they seem to also be a retail site for Korean cosmetic brands (checked out their website to see). A lot of other similar sites and brands use "Asian pink" for familiarity, but it is overused in the industry. Hope that's useful info for some people unfamiliar with the cosmetics industry!
@thefutur.. I'm a Nigerian and I appreciate your work thus far.. Also appreciate the fact that you recognized your followers from this part of the Continent.. Actually heard of you from my friends here in Nigeria and they love what you do and I am really convinced that you really are great after watching some of your videos.. Can't buy your stuffs now due to finance issues but thanks for bringing a tip of your class here for free.. Didn't study graphics design.. I'm just starting up... Thanks futur
Yes they might be few buh they're really committed and my friend told me to check how you explained on pricing... Cos I'm starting and not doing it right though..
I like the one without the circles. But I would prefer to see a chamfrein on the D instead of a circle because of the whole sharpness of the design. I think the G needs a chamfrein too, it'll bring the design closer I think
PS. Chris was wrong, Aaron translated right. The designer purchased the mock-up. So no need to take a photo... unless you're good at it. Just buy a good one or two.
I think "C" would be best. Could even add a slight warp to the more symmetrical 322, to give it a little bit more of a joker hat feel without making it too hard to read.
Definitely number 2 but....I would like to see it with beveled corners on the D in GUILD similar to the original, number 1. I believe this might better match the squareness of the other letters.
Loved the 1st remake #2). Its a Way cleaner design without the excessive elements crowding the design.. Cleanliness is next to Godliness! I believe this is definitely applicable to design. After all, God is a Designer 😉
I do feel a bit better for the 3rd option with the 3 dots. If the gaming team does use the word joker when they are playing or whatever I think having that little bit to reference an actual joker hat would be a nice touch overall. Because otherwise it just feels like it's just a crown.
Love this, as I'm starting to focus more on typography Glyphs is something I plan to get in a few weeks just because the vector tools are more robust and over greater control. Question: I know you've told us many times how to get our logos critiqued, but how would we submit if we want to be the person who's critiquing other people's work? I would love to do one an a logotype as I see a lot of people making the same mistakes when drawing/customizing type.
I've written some tutorials in the past, feel free to send me a message on Behance so I can send you the links. Of course I'd be down to cover the process in more depth in a video. We'll see ;)
Hi sir its Aditya...! Sir I loved the after version because I think the dots in after after one are kind of disturbing the visual balance in terms of proportion I think and also feel like extra elements kind of distracting the legibility of 322.
This is a great idea for a show, and an excellent set of designers and commentators. Love what you guys are doing. One suggestion... maybe I missed it, but is there somewhere where you give some background about the brands whose logos are being redesigned, and the motivation for the redesign? The Blueberry logo in particular is clearly changing the impression of the brand toward something that looks much higher-end/more expensive, and there are some formal advantages to what was done. But if Blueberry wanted to maintain a more natural/down-to-earth sensibility, this mark wouldn’t serve them well.
it's up to each designer to talk to the person who submitted the logo. sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I don't want to create a bigger imposition on their time as it is. but if you like this series, we just added a 3rd set of reviewers.
No dots is better. Without the organic curves the dots make it more of a crown than a joker hat. I would, however, show both to the client. They're both good logos, and if we discuss the differences in the designs they can decide if they want more of a crown logo or not. Since both logos are good there's no reason not to offer choices and allow them to choose the one that suits their preferences more.
I love the joker's hat idea but at the same time i feel the dots don't add much to the logo. But i think both are valid, specially since this is esports wich allows for a bit more fun
I definitely like more the second logo from the 322 logo design, I dont like the dots because as Chris has said, people add lots of things to the logo and it's all about simplicity, so I definitely like more the second one becaue it doesnt look as busy and it just looks simple
In regard to the 322 Guild joker logo, the improved version is more readable but is too blocky and has lost some of its zest and graffiti/gangster vibe. The original has curves and I like how the number 2 points slightly to the right. I also like how the outlines of the numbers vary in thickness, whereas the new version all has the same thickness. I think that the original could be improved upon by making the numbers more readable. In addition, the logo type could be made horizontal below the hat rather than curved upward. The new version could work with some modifications. Right now, the top part looks like the top part of a star, rather than a joker's hat. Perhaps experiment with varying the line thickness of the number outlines and looking at alternative typefaces. Also, it needs some slight curve contours to add energy and movement. It's too static. Not sure about the circles, but I would never know it's a joker hat, even with the circles. Adding the contours and thick and thin lines would help.

2, but eventho its porbably centered, I'd prefer the text shifted a little bit more to the right. Doesnt look centered to me, but thats probably just because of the shape of the letters
2 is the best. The dots on the third ones seem like an after thought. Maybe if they were connected to the end of each number they wouldn't be so bad. Otherwise, they throw the balance off.
