This is a fantastic video. What stands out most is your genuine intention to help the musician community. Thank You Raag and the entire Compass Box team for all the hard work you put in. I am so proud of you !
I use this kit with additional tom, bass and hi-hat mic because I have a kit with 2 tomtoms, 2 floortoms and 2 bass drums. I'm recording all my covers with the Behringer x2442 USB. And After getting into EQing more and more I'm really happy with the sound. I'm 13 years old. This set allows me to get a really great sound!
I quite like the OHs on this particular setup though. Less brightening in post for me. I also like how they balance out the flabbiness of the floor tom mic in solo a bit in context. But yeah, kick mic definitely needs a revamp from AKG. Thanks for sending in the gear though @Harman @AKG! (it's-a-me, ya mixboi for Compass Box)
Hi guys amazing work and grate video quality Just one question plz help... which one do you prefer among these 3 1. AKG Drum Set Session I 2. PreSonus DM-7 Complete Drum Microphone 3. PylePro PDKM7 7 Microphone
I believe the Tom mics, actually all of them can be mounted to a regular Mic Stand for better angles. Thanks for this. I really was curious about the Bass Drum mic sound.
Great demonstration! Can you mount one of the tom/snare mics on the bottom of the snare, if you only have two toms and want top/bottom setup for the snare? I guess the height adjustment issue could be solved with a normal floor mic stands although the Shure PGA-kit solves this better with more adjustability on the tom mounts (at a slightly higher price).
floor tom does sound a bit "bongy". maybe some cotton on the resonant head would help w/ minimizing sustain. overall great video and of course SOUND for the price of this mic set :D
Does the Tom/Snare mics rotate in the holder, as I have right angle mic cables and looking at the pins inside the mics they seem to be 1 up top where as my mic cables have 2 female connections up top ?
Awesome video, thanks a lot. I am searching for the best kit for myself and for my little home studio. I can only use 4 mics because my audio interface only has 4 mic line inputs. These will be probably the kick snare and the 2 OH but I have 2 more instrument and 2 more line inputs (6.3 jack instead of xlr). Is it possible to mic the toms with a dibox or a cable converter (xlr papa to 6.3 jack) and mic them too? Or it is not a good idea? Thanks a lot. This video helped me to make the final decision with this kit. Maybe it is possible to get the raw full kit record track by track to be able to mix it on my own and find out how could it sound that way?:))

Big love to you man!
For the money it’s the best set of mics out there
Amen!
I really love the way your studio works
Thanks :)

2. PreSonus DM-7 Complete Drum Microphone
3. PylePro PDKM7 7 Microphone
Thanks for the support! We've only used the AKG set, and can attest to it !
i dont get why everyone is obsessed with compression.. with a well treated room, it sounds great as it is..
With a good room anything sounds good :)

Glad you found it useful!
Nice!
Thank you!
Hi, could you please mention rhe link from where you got these ? I'm trying to get a hold of these and can't seem to find them online
Hey Andy, you'll have to check your local AKG/Harman dealer unique to your region
@@CompassBoxStudio oh okay, I'll try that. Thanks a bunch🤘
I wonder how these would perform in voice recording..
Next video idea :)
@CompassBoxStudio Awesome!
Great Video as always...
I have budget of around 20k-30k rs...
Should i go for it...or if not please suggest something else...
Go for it!
Great demonstration!

Glad you liked it!!! It would depend on the snare you have, though I don't think it will stick to the rim.
Yes please mate! Please send link for stems
You can check the description, we've left a link for that!
@@CompassBoxStudio awesome!!
Great job on this review, but the price of this kit is closer to $460 than $260.
Thanks! The price has fluctuated since this review, but in India its still closer to around 20,000-25,000 INR which is around 300-320 USD

Agreed, as we discovered in the review, the snare/tom mics are average at best, and need a lot more post work than more hi-end gear.
Does the Tom/Snare mics rotate in the holder, as I have right angle mic cables and looking at the pins inside the mics they seem to be 1 up top where as my mic cables have 2 female connections up top ?

Glad we helped! Ideally you need seperate pres to record mic sources
For live it s ok?
Of course!
i love the overheads, toms r good too but i dont like snare and kick mics
What do you think about these akg and superlux drk b5c2 mkII?
Havn't really tried the Superlux, but budget wise I would go with the AKGs
What interface did you use to record with 7 mics? Thanks
Hey, we used the UAD Apollo x8p!
@@CompassBoxStudio Thanks very much!
Do we get mic stand in it
There are only mic holders, no stands.
