Here’s a tip for your silver ladies. I bought the Arteza alcohol markers in the grayscale, only $20 for 36 markers. They are beautiful and make customizing my wigs so easy! There are warm grays, cool grays, neutral grays, yellow, blue and green grays. The caps make it easy to hold the color next to the hair and you can test fine pieces on the underside of the wig. I just finished a wig that was originally a pale blonde with an apricot hue to it. I am cool colored so it wasn’t going to work for me. I used the caps to find the right gray and chose warm. I had 9 colors to choose from that I worked through the wig. I even flipped it over and used some of the darker tones underneath for some depth. By the time I finished I had a gorgeous custom made wig! Now the apricot is throughout the wig and the entire wig is a sandy gray with kisses of apricot. I am a dark brunette/gray but with the right makeup I can not wait to wear this. I used a styrofoam head on a post and sometime just held the head between my knees to see down the part. Sometimes I pulled out small sections and sometimes just a few wisps. Sometimes I colored all the way down the fiber and sometimes I faded it out. All in all, it was a total blast! And now I have my own one of a kind beauty. Have fun. Take it slow. Stop often and step back. God bless.😮
I’m a natural light ash blonde shot through with white (seems like more white every week lol), and I’m frustrated by the few non-rooted blonde colors available in toppers these days.I’ve used white hair spray paint to cover dark roots and it looks decent- like I have light graying roots. It takes away the shine so the hair actually looks more natural. I brush some blonde hair powder here and there over white spray painted roots and it pulls everything together. I may try adding white highlights using the white hair spray paint.I do it in the shower to keep from getting spray everywhere. The painted hair is just a bit stiffer, like it’s been hair sprayed. I don’t like the too-yellow blonde spray-on root covers available, and I’ve tried many. I’ve used light taupe Copic markers in the past to add pale ashy shadow rooting to platinum blonde toppers- worked great! My next project will be toning a too- warm topper to get it more ash in tone, using Rit dye and alcohol, per some RUclips videos. Wish me luck!
The one you colored is beautiful! I’ve got a pale blonde, short haired wig that I would love to do this to. I’m a little hesitant about it because I paid $175 for it at a wig store and it was not returnable. At the time I thought I would like the color. But I don’t and I rarely wear it. Maybe I will get brave enough to try this technique. Thanks so much for this tutorial. It was really helpful and well explained.
That's a great transformation of the original color. Looks professional and believable. They really look like the altered one came like that right out of the box. GREAT job! Haven't needed to try altering the color on any of the pieces I have, but think what you have done is so clever and, btw, both colors look amazing on you. 🤗
@@heywigsister I noticed that, too. I was going to ask if you somehow altered the mono part on the "new improved" mila. The original one you can't even tell there's a mono part at all! I wonder if you could use a scalp-colored pen to make the mono part look wider, or if that would just make it look as if you had grays growing in. What do you think, Denise? I LOVE your videos and this technique is AWESOME! The new version looks So much better!
I've used black and brown magic markers & sharpies for roots & lo-lites with great success. Had a tiny bit of fading after many shampoos. (Just don't use a wet erase type marker.) lol!
Janean G. 😂😂 Dry Erase Markers would be horribly frustrating for sure. Thanks for the info on the magic markers and sharpies holding up so well. That is good info. Thanks.
Copic markers are alcohol markers used with paper crafting. (1000s+ RUclips videos). There are many colors available as sets, especially "skin tones" which are tans and browns. If you over color the wig hair, it might be possible to remove some of the color using straight isopropyl alcohol applied using a cotton ball on synthetic wigs? Also, there are permanent alcohol ink pads which could allow for an application technique similar to frosting or highlighting bio hair, with an ink barrier such as aluminum foil. Sharpie markers are also alcohol ink based. I use Hulu markers from Amazon online. Because of the range of colors (100s!) it is possible to have fun adding wild colors to platinum wigs for parties, celebrations, and cosplay wigs, always applying colors to light, not dark, synthetic wigs.
You really have amazing and interesting content! What a great idea this is. I just went thru this with a topper and I used the root spray. It worked, but it did leave the hair a bit heavier. So then I added dry shampoo to lighten the fibers back up. But like you said before, The more you put in, the shorter the wear time in the long run. You end up washing it more, and it wears out! Thanks Denise, you are so creative! Blessings, Lynda
I really don't like how root spray weighs the hair down and changes the texture, and I've found it doesn't wash out very easily (or at all in some cases)... what I love about the markers is that they do not change the hair texture AT ALL or weigh it down. I'm planning an updated video showing other colors and even FUN colors that can take an older blonde wig up a level.
It is AMAZINGLY realistic, would not even know it had been altered (and I didn't, even looking closely, wow)! This color is really different from straight to wavy to curly and from unit to unit. If doing this makes a wig more wearable for someone, it can save some $$$, for sure!
You've given me the nudge that I needed to work on some of my less-worn wigs... I have a Toni Bratton wig, Trendsetter (in Dark Blonde) that is, to me, almost orange... so maybe low-lights will help the orange look less ghastly if I low-light with some medium brown. I bought some furniture markers about a year ago, and haven't once even tried them! Thanks, Denise!
So good. Love the instructions. I bought a set of Copic markers and a 'natures colors" tans and brown Sharpie set. First project is trying to permanently lighten the wefts of a wig. The hair is light ashy blonde but the wig was made with a really dark cap and the wefts show horribly! I complained to the small midwest wig company and they don't take returns and saw nothing wrong with a dark cap for a light blonde wig. Your video has given me confidence to tackle this task because I can't in good conscience sell this wig to anyone else (at $80+ it was the most I've paid for a wig).
Oh my! I have not been able to find a grey wig that has enough white in the front (like my own hair) so now maybe I can get a light grey hair and add brown in. So much thanks as it opens up a new avenue for my wig journey.
TOTALLY! For me this has been a game changer and has opened up the world of wigs even wider... now I am not afraid to get a color that isn't perfect if I find it on sale because I know I can add darker roots and lowlights to it no problem. It doesn't work perfectly on ALL colors, but so far it has been good enough for me.
THANK YOU! I recently bought a gray wig, and it has an unfortunate blue tint to it that i didn’t see on my monitor. And bc i don’t want to be an “old blue hair” i just bought some Copic markers in gray and will try this this weekend. This was such a wonderfully helpful and educational videos, much like all ur videos. I really appreciate ur sweet spirit and generosity in providing all these free tutorials!
It turned out amazing! Thanks for showing options that can help us with wigs that aren’t quite right, but we want to try to rehab. Now it looks like you have “summer” hair and “winter” hair. Just love it!
Brilliant! Such usable information! Thanks. I'm going to purchase some markers for my blondes that are a little lacking in dimension and I'm going to use a very very light hand.
Hi Denise i just came across this video what a great ideas. I have a gray wig its to light for me there is no dimention in this wig so im going to try put some highlight with the copi maker in dark bark .
That was a ton of work Denise. I found your video when I received my newest straight up with a twist. Those front highlights can appear heavy handed depending on the wig maker. I’ll give this a shot. Many thanks.
Thanks so much for this, Denise! I'm going to buy a Copic marker tomorrow. I have worked with the furniture markers on one of my Paula Young wigs, and although successful in the beginning, I was not happy with the color it turned when I washed it. I'm going to try the Copic over those sections. I think this is a great technique, especially if you have a too light wig that is non-returnable. ~Jill in SoCal
I hope you have better success with these, Jill. I used the furniture marker on my Girl Mono and thought the color faded beautifully on that one, but hard to say how it might be different on a blonde wig vs an auburn (which is the color of my GM)
And here I sit on my bedroom floor rooting my Noriko Sky in Dark Rust. It was just way too bright! Thanks Denise for giving me the confidence to finally use my markers 😘
This was so helpful! Great job! I really like the Estetica color 30/28/26 but it is just a little too light for me. I need some brown so that it does not wash me out. I think I may try that color again using this technique. So awesome. God Bless.
I agree, that color is also a bit too light for me!! I got it in a rooted version and that worked a lot better! If I could not find the rooted version, though, then this would be the perfect alternative.
This works!! I bought Wavy Day by Raquel Welch, in Ginger Brown. It was may more ginger than brown and the highlights were to golden for me. I ordered 2 copic markers. One in dark bark and the other maroon. I rooted and kept going down the hair of the lightest strands in the front and it makes a huge difference! The wig is now a lighter brown and looks so much better on me! Thank-you!
YAY!!! This makes me so so happy, thank you so much for sharing!! It is so tricky to share tips like this because, inevitably, SOMEONE won't like it and then blame the person who told them, lol. HUGS!
Thank you for this video. I've been able to make several of my wigs more wearable. It's not as dark as i wanted, maybe i need a different shade but it still gives definition to the wig and looks more natural.
Hi Denise! I bought two Copic markers -- one brown and another copper -- to put some low lights into a very blonde (Color # 613) Bobbi Boss wig. I just finished it, and it turned out beautiful!!! I am so happy with it!!!! Does anyone know if the Copic markers are permanent on synthetic hair? I read that they are permanent, but I was wondering if anyone reading this has washed a wig that they have put Copic low lights into? Anyway, Denise, thank you so much for making this video! It was so helpful!!!
Copic markers are fantastic!!! I made highlights & low lights on my light blonde wig. Looks perfect!!! It does not change the texture of your wig fibers like root touch up does
OMG THANK YOU for this video! I recently purchased Kendall by Henry Margu in 8/27/33H. I have another HM in this color, but Kendall had way too much blonde in the front & around my face. It totally washed me out. I bought the same Copic marker - Dark Bark, & I set out for what I expected to be an hours-long event. I was finished in 15 minutes and Kendall looks amazing now. Thanks for saving me from another wig mistake. :)
I bought a Paula Young wig, Sunset in Caramelized Brown that was too light for me. I had taken the tag off and couldn't return it. I bought some alcohol markers at Hobby Lobby, their own brand, Master's Touch. Which were on sale. I chose Mahogany, to start with as I worked on each section. Using the pointy brush end, using the side of it along the strands. Then I used chocolate brown for darker brown strands on that section. I covered the whole wig working a little at a time. One quarter of it the first evening. Then half of it the second evening. Then the other half outside on a sunny day. Then I used a darker chestnut brown for the top root area and some darker streaks at the top. It turned out so pretty. It's now a deep reddish brown.
I used a root touch up to make my mom's old wig look rooted I was thanking it would wash out but it doesn't and it come out pretty good so mom thanks she get a new rooted wigs.
I recently purchased Pam by Noriko in Marble Brown. I purchased it through a salon in Florida. The more I put it on I dislike how light it is. I am normally use to Drew by Noriko in Iced Mocha-R. I am thinking I could put low lights in and that would darken it. How do you decide what color mark to get? Do you have a suggestion as to what color I should get?
Beth 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖 this an incredible process 👍🏻 You’re so smart! That’s a pretty great idea! Thanks! Wish earlier I can buy an other wig, but is these a lace front wig? And when you wash it, the rooting is gone?
Denise, not all furniture markers are created equal. Some run when washed. The Copic, or any alcohol marker is very permanent. Have you found this over time? As you say, there may be fading, but with the alcohol, the wash water is not discolored. I want to darken a JR 14/26/10. I just don’t know if should give it a base color with rit dye. Any ideas? I love your deeper Mia! Oh, when you’re marking curls, I found that the cardboard paper towel roll is perfect to wrap the curls over and then hold down to color.
Well that is new information to me so THANK YOU!! I have not had any issues with them at all, but I haven't rooted that many wigs. I did notice, though, that when I washed a wig that I had rooted with a Copic marker the water wasn't as dark as I expected... I had no idea that it would not be because of the base of the marker. I LOVE the cardboard roll tip... gosh you have given me so much good information!! As for your question about RIT dye... I have not tried using that before but I believe Rachel from Rachel's Wig reform has... I would think that if you want to make a significant overall change then that would be the way to go. Good luck!!
Looks great, but the color NEVER stops rubbing off. I added a root with a Copic marker. It looked fantastic, but. EVERY TIME I run my hands through the hair, I get a little brown on my hands.
That's interesting. I have not experienced that at all, but maybe I don't touch my hair much? I'll pay more attention to this.... and do an update if I experience it. Did you use the same marker? thanks for sharing!
@@heywigsister I used Copic Dark Bark/Dark Brown on a heat safe synthetic wig. BTW, you can get extra wide Copic markers online that make the job quicker and easier. I actually bought an extra wide Copic blank/empty pen and Copic refill ink on Amazon.
I'm wondering about another possible application, similar to the alcohol/rit. As a crafter of many years I'm very familiar with Comics and other alcohol based markers. You can pull the dye out of the marker by just soaking the marker in alcohol. You can also buy reinkers for any brand of alcohol markers I think using the alcohol ink in a spray bottle in layers would definitely work. I'm going to try it soon in a blond I got from Amazon.
Autocorrect. Ugh. Copic and Tim Holtz and even some cheaper Amazon alcohol markers all would work the same. Not water based markers. They would was right out if it rained. Temporary use only.
@@heywigsister I would definitely test it on a tress first. But alcohol inks can even be used on glass and smooth stone without quickly coming off. Acrylics paint diluted I would not use because the color might flake.
Do you have any recommendations on tone of marker? I have a Delectable that has brassy highlights I don't like, and was wondering if there's an ashy brown marker that might help darken and counterbalance that...
Hmmm, great question..... the color I used is called Dark Bark.... that is the first one I've ever tried so unsure about other colors. If I hear of something I will let you know!
Thanks to you I made my Innuendo rooted and with low lights, she was to brassy for my taste but I love the cut and the fibers, she is a lot darker with some highlights, a dark brown root and it did not take me a lot of time...you did an mazing job, keep teaching us please.
You can't lighten synthetic wigs. If you just want to lighten rooting, you can use a blonde root powder and that will cover it up just a little bit. But to lighten an entire wig that is not possible.
I know this is an older video, but hopefully you'll see my question. I have a white synthetic wig because my natural hair was turning white before I lost it. I had a human hair wig that matched my original dark hair perfectly (I actually bought it several years ago from your friend Sherry because I live about 30" from her), but I've lost my eyebrows, so the darker color is too stark. I'm just wondering if I should try starting with a blond low light and work my way up to a medium/dark brown low light, just because I'm working with a white wig. My natural color was very dark (my profile picture), so maybe the darker brown might be okay? Thank you so much for your channel. I wish I'd had it 5 years ago when this all started. I'm still struggling with wearing wigs and mainly stick to baseball caps but I'm trying some of your suggestions to see if I can get used to them. The hardest part is that my neighbors and friends have all gotten used to seeing me in a baseball cap so I feel self-conscious suddenly having hair, LOL.
For rooting, I did to my Mila JR did the top of the wig with Copic market let it dry good for a couple of days, and then wash it ....after you wash it some color of the Copic markers will come out not much...it then looks like the rooting on a new wig because it's blended...Copic markers also have a blending marker use this in some areas came out is too dark....
This is so great to know - thank you! I have a topper that I bought off eBay that is too light so I will try your tips. It’s heat-friendly synthetic topper, though. Think that would be ok to try it on?
Hi! So I did talk about how I did them and at the 5:36 mark I very briefly showed how I did it. Are you looking for more than that? Honestly all I did was "paint" the hair with it in various places all over the wig. I am totally happy to do another video so just let me know what more you want to see on this and I'll get it on the list. :)
@@heywigsister sorry. I should have gone back n deleted. I posted before I watched the whole video. Thanks. That marker did a great job. I’m going to try it. 😊
this sounds like just what I need for my latest wig purchase, way too light around my face. Can anyone tell me if the Copic pen smells as strong as the furniture markers?? AND if you used furniture markers, did that smell diminish when it dried???
Hi, Donna.... I do not notice that smell of either marker lingers on the wig. I don't find one to smell worse than the other, but I think it might vary depending on the brand.
I have seen a video on this.... I have not tried it myself but someone used Loreal Root touch up spray in a blonde color and it worked great.... that is something I will have to try myself sometime.
Thank you Denise very helpful information. Not sure but did you say you can add light color to a dark wig? I saved this video I will be watching it many times. 😊
The only way I know to add a light color to a dark wig is to use a light root spray... Loreal makes different color Root Sprays (meant for covering up gray regrowth between hair colors) in a blonde shade, I have heard of people using that.
Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! Can you discuss why you chose this particular type of marker, and how you go about selecting the correct colors to use? LOVE! xox
I had been using furniture markers prior to this and a wig sister recommended this particular Copic marker so I thought I would give it a try. I really think they work equally as well so when people ask me about colors I usually recommend furniture markers because they come in a multipack and so you can more easier test the colors to find the right one (just test on lower layers that don't show). This is the pack I have: amzn.to/3dvF5UN
I would like to color my entire wig from light brown to a rich warm brown...darker... Wouldn't it take forever to color every strand with a marker? How do I do it?? Thanks 💞
I don't think it will take forever, but it will definitely take some time... the outside won't be as hard as getting the inner layers... I would recommend you just go weft my weft, starting at the bottom and clipping up the top ones and then lower a new one as one is finished... you might need more than one marker so keep that in mind.... I also notice that it does fade some with washing, so keep that in mind.
Crazy Wig Lady lightened dark roots on a wig with Loreal blonde root spray.... I really don't like the way root spray coats the fibers personally but it did make a huge difference.
Can you suggest a root color in copic pen for silky sand (tressallure). It’s a really light color and I’m afraid the dark bark color may be too dark on it. Thank you!!!!!
You cannot make a wig lighter with markers it doesn't work. The only thing I found to make a darker way look a little lighter is this product. I don't think you could do platinum with it though. ruclips.net/video/R-TrF2Y3pTQ/видео.html
Hi Denise. I’m new to your Chanel, and am so happy I found this. I have some wigs that are too dark and are Ginger brown. I would love to highlight with a reddish tone. Do you think something would work?
Hi, Eileen! I haven't really tried highlighting with a red yet... my only fear is that it would be hard to predict how the color will come out on the wig. If you find something please let me know and if I find something I will FOR SURE share it!
How do you make a dark brown wig with strands or areas of grey? Or is it better to get a grey wig and use brown tones to make more of a salt and pepper look?
You can't really add lighter on top of dark easily when it comes to synthetic. I think it would work better to start with gray and then ads lowlights with a darker color.
Hi thanks for the vid, does this come off on your hands? I used Rit synthetic dye and it started coming off on my nails when I was touching my hair. Can you advise pls. Thanks
Unfortunately you can't make synthetic fibers lighter with a marker, it just doesn't show up. You could try some root touch up powder, but that is only a temporary fix. Here is a video ruclips.net/video/R-TrF2Y3pTQ/видео.htmlsi=lVBUI5gXrq-58f-h
Just leave it dry (it really dries pretty immediately). It is fairly permanent. I have noticed that it fades with washing (and the water turns really dark) but doesn't fully wash out. If you want something not permanent you can use root spray (meant to cover up roots between colorings)... Loreal makes one.... or if you have just a small area to do you can try eye shadow.
Oh my goodness! Does this take a long time? The darker wig looks like it would be a lot to darken with just a marker. It looks like you done the whole wig!!! But awesome job.
I love that. This would also allow you to take advantage of sales on wigs that don't come in any color you want!
Exactly!!!

How about using a crochet cap to pull the hair through, it makes it easier to put color in the areas that you want.
It turned out amazing! Thanks for showing options that can help us with wigs that aren’t quite right, but we want to try to rehab. Now it looks like you have “summer” hair and “winter” hair. Just love it!
YES- totally!!
Brilliant! Such usable information! Thanks. I'm going to purchase some markers for my blondes that are a little lacking in dimension and I'm going to use a very very light hand.
Let me know how it goes!
Where do you get Copic markers? I never seen any anywhere
And here I sit on my bedroom floor rooting my Noriko Sky in Dark Rust. It was just way too bright! Thanks Denise for giving me the confidence to finally use my markers 😘
I hope it works great for you, too!
If you dont like it, soak it in rubbing alcohol & that takes it out. Washing it will not wash it out
That color is perfect on you and I don't think anyone would ever guess you altered the color!!
Thank you so much!
HUGS!
Great idea and demo. Definitely can see the difference.
Thank you for this video. I've been able to make several of my wigs more wearable. It's not as dark as i wanted, maybe i need a different shade but it still gives definition to the wig and looks more natural.
I'm so glad!!! YAY!
Great great video!!!! I have loved wigs on sale only lighter colors…now I can try this and if I get good at it… will be a game changer changer!!!!
Denise, another great video! Thank you so much - now I need to order markers.
I would say they are semi-permanent. They will fade some when washed, but they won't wash completely out.
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate it!
Sook glad i found ur video!! I ordered 10 Copix markers. Walmart has on sale!! ❤❤❤❤ THANK YOU!!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bob you were wearing. Where can I purchase one like her? Thanks
Score!! Good job helping mom out!
This is great, definitely need to do this with several wigs. Thanks!!
You bet! I truly think this is a game changer for me!
Summer wig versus winter wig. Fabulous.
Totally!
Beth 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖 this an incredible process 👍🏻 You’re so smart! That’s a pretty great idea! Thanks! Wish earlier I can buy an other wig, but is these a lace front wig? And when you wash it, the rooting is gone?
What a great idea I can’t believe that you can do that....thank you for this fantastic tip!
You bet!
I guess I'm quite off topic but do anybody know of a good site to watch new series online?
I also thought about if a furniture marker would work,,, Thank you for trying it out...
Is there any risk of the marker color rubbing off clothing ?
What a difference! Try thanks for sharing Denise ❤️
You bet, Clara!
Good luck!!
Great video! Will this work on making a dark wig lighter?
Just found your site. ..I'll definitely try this. .thank you!
@Chisty A thanks! I've been looking for a wider marker.... will have to try searching again.
So cool! I need to this to one of mine. Would a professional marker work as well? My daughter uses them.
Yes, I think so.... I've had people tell me that they used just a regular permanent marker and those work as well.
Temporary use only.
oooh, that sounds so interesting! Would love to know if it works!
@@heywigsister I would definitely test it on a tress first. But alcohol inks can even be used on glass and smooth stone without quickly coming off. Acrylics paint diluted I would not use because the color might flake.
Holy moly what a transformation!!
If I hear of something I will let you know!
wow. amazing transformation.
Wow!, Amazing transformation.
💕💕
Thanks to you I made my Innuendo rooted and with low lights, she was to brassy for my taste but I love the cut and the fibers, she is a lot darker with some highlights, a dark brown root and it did not take me a lot of time...you did an mazing job, keep teaching us please.
I love how easy it is!
hi denise, how to do a darker wig to make it lighter? love your maniquinn heads
What about sharpie markers?
For rooting, I did to my Mila JR did the top of the wig with Copic market let it dry good for a couple of days, and then wash it ....after you wash it some color of the Copic markers will come out not much...it then looks like the rooting on a new wig because it's blended...Copic markers also have a blending marker use this in some areas came out is too dark....
I will have to look into that blending marker, thank you so much for the tip
Can I use blonde colored copic marker to make highlights on a brown wig?
I bought a JR topper that looked great in the shop but got her home and now there's way too much gold. I'm gonna try this, I have nothing to lose.
Thank you. I want to tone down my blonde wig.
Please let me know how it goes!!
You are awesome! Thanks for all the great info.
This is so great to know - thank you! I have a topper that I bought off eBay that is too light so I will try your tips. It’s heat-friendly synthetic topper, though. Think that would be ok to try it on?
Yes, definitely!
I ve done it on heat friendly. works great
Denise, can u do a tutorial on how to do the low lights. They r amazing n I have. jR haute that is way too yellow. TIA!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! THANK YOU!!! GORGEOUS. EXCITED TO TRY ON SOME!!
❤️❤️
Thank- you so much!! I needed this. I just got a wig and I like the style but the color is to light and of course I can not re turn it. Thank-you.
❤️❤️
this sounds like just what I need for my latest wig purchase, way too light around my face.
Usually Copic and PrismaColors don’t smell like furniture markers or the other type of markers.
I love this Denise, how clever.. do you know anyway you can you add highlights to synthetic wigs in any way?😘
I have seen a video on this.... I have not tried it myself but someone used Loreal Root touch up spray in a blonde color and it worked great.... that is something I will have to try myself sometime.
@@heywigsister Thank you very much, you’re a gem 💎🥰👍🏼
Thank you Denise very helpful information. Not sure but did you say you can add light color to a dark wig? I saved this video I will be watching it many times. 😊
The only way I know to add a light color to a dark wig is to use a light root spray... Loreal makes different color Root Sprays (meant for covering up gray regrowth between hair colors) in a blonde shade, I have heard of people using that.
@@heywigsister Thank you Denise I will look for this.
Thank you for the tips! Does this technique work for synthetique HD wigs? TIA!
Yes!
What colour is the marker?
Very pretty! Great job, Denise! I tried to lighten a root on a blonde wig with a Copic marker, but it didn't work. 😔
Crazy Wig Lady lightened dark roots on a wig with Loreal blonde root spray.... I really don't like the way root spray coats the fibers personally but it did make a huge difference.
Yes, I've seen that done too. I'm just a little afraid to try it though. My hands are so unsteady, I would have it everywhere! Haha! 💕
Can you suggest a root color in copic pen for silky sand (tressallure). It’s a really light color and I’m afraid the dark bark color may be too dark on it. Thank you!!!!!
Great question! I haven't seen lighter colors even though people tell me they exist. I'll have to do some research on that.
Can you put platinum highlights on your wig? I cannot find a white marker...they all have a yellowish tint.
You cannot make a wig lighter with markers it doesn't work. The only thing I found to make a darker way look a little lighter is this product. I don't think you could do platinum with it though. ruclips.net/video/R-TrF2Y3pTQ/видео.html
Wow, amazing! It looks awesome!
Thanks!
Thanks
No, I have had zero issue with that. I just bought some RIT synthetic dye to practice with it so thanks for the heads up!
Hi Denise, I have purchased a grey wig which is too dark. Do you think a white marker could work with this?
Unfortunately you can't make synthetic fibers lighter with a marker, it just doesn't show up. You could try some root touch up powder, but that is only a temporary fix. Here is a video ruclips.net/video/R-TrF2Y3pTQ/видео.htmlsi=lVBUI5gXrq-58f-h
@@heywigsister Thank you so much for answering my question.
You are amazing! This is a great tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you so much!
can you use this on human hair?
Thanks The information I would’ve never thought of it
💓💓
Will any sharpie do this
It should.... I've heard from wig sisters who use just a regular sharpie with success.
HELP!!! I am going to root a Avalon in Smoky Rose. Any suggestions on which colors might work best? Thanks in advance for your advice.
I haven't seen that color so I really am not sure. Whatever you choose you can start at an under layer just to make sure looks OK
Hey Denise,
When you wash the "colored" wig, does the ink that comes out during the wash darken the wig's highlights?
Thanks.
No, I haven't noticed any adverse effects. It will fade the parts you colored but doesn't seem to bleed on the other parts at all.
@@heywigsister
Thank you!
Do you wash the wig in cold water after applying the ink or just wait till it needs a wash?
This is fab.. But, do you rinse it afterwards or just leave it to dry/set? Is it permanent?
Just leave it dry (it really dries pretty immediately). It is fairly permanent. I have noticed that it fades with washing (and the water turns really dark) but doesn't fully wash out. If you want something not permanent you can use root spray (meant to cover up roots between colorings)... Loreal makes one.... or if you have just a small area to do you can try eye shadow.
Thanks, lovely.
I tried loreal blonde colors and they dont seem to be the color they say they are. the spray comes out more golden
That is really good to know. It is such a bummer when that happens.
Oh my goodness! Does this take a long time? The darker wig looks like it would be a lot to darken with just a marker. It looks like you done the whole wig!!! But awesome job.
Not at all!! This was a dramatic change and it really only took me 15 minutes, maybe? It really is Very quick!
Wow, looks great!
💕💕
Where do you buy the copic pens?
I bought mine on Amazon. This is the one I have: amzn.to/3PnAZzf
