    For the price, this is the best printer and has excellent touches like the bed probe, encoder filament sensor, insulated heated bed and locking dual adjusters on the bed. Just tune Marlin input shaper and it's unbeatable !!!

    Bought one at the introductory $135 price as a present for a novice. We did not even try the 250mm/s as I knew it was hype. It has been performing flawlessly at "normal" print speeds with decent prints. I agree that input shaping, etc. should now be offered standard since no additional hardware is needed. Also agree on the PEI flex sheet - that is the only upgrade I did before gifting the printer. At the introductory $135 price it was a terrific price performance value.

      @@thomaspc2 Truth be told I did crank it up while printing a cal cube for several layers for grins and with a little tuning and input shaping it would be able to do functional prints well but you could do that with most 2XXmm bed size slingers. You'd either tune it for speed or for quality but not both on one printer without a lot of setup changes (including changing extruder e-steps) between prints. The real attraction is a complete Marlin-based price/performance with ABL printer that nearly works "out of the box" - I did a FW update, swapped for a metal flex PEI (I like the ones from TH3D), did the initial ABL calibration, and started printing. Then it's just the usual fine-tuning for your favorite filament(s) that you can do from your slicer. I was able to show a complete novice how to use the printer with some tuned up profiles on Cura (using Chuck Hellebuyck's as a starting point). They went home and sliced and printed their first print that same evening. No phone calls since except pics of what they printed. I give it a thumbs up, especially if you can buy this for under $200 shipped. It has become one of the printers I recommend for novices, especially if I become their "support person' which is usually the case. :)

    My old Artillery X1 can print at 250mm/s too. It's easy, just crank up the speed, and then also just throw the part away just as fast. 😉

    Once again, your review is outstanding and since you used the word in the script, I want to repurpose "rare" to identify your skills. Your reviews are the "benchy" of You Tube. Congratulations. "Now for the cons"; no not about you. This printer should use a Volcano Nozzle configuration or the newer channeled versions; however, this would be but a 'patch'.
    As a result of your previous Elegoo Neptune 3 review, I purchased one and found it as you described. But hated the single Z axis drive which when powered off always jammed the nozzle into the bed. So, I purchased the Neptune 3 Pro as an "upgrade" and I am so very impressed with it. If you have time, for $230 USD delivered, your review would likely identify to your fans a superb entry level to intermediate level 3D printer: No Touch Auto Bed Leveling, Dual Z axis drive, Direct drive extruder, substantially upgraded menus on the magnetically mounted LCD display, LED lights. It does not try to be a 'fast' printer. Hopefully this comment is not a TLDR.

    I knew it was too good to be true, a budget printer running at 250mm/s without input shaping or an accelerometer or even adequate cooling for 250mm/s is asking for trouble.
    But hopefully people thinking of buying this machine will see your excellent review and know what the facts are, when are you going to convince your elusive brother to appear in a video? LOL Maybe when you reach 100K subscribers?

    Its nice to see Sunlu getting into the game. I've been a fan of their filaments and driers ever since I started printing. I'm disappointed that this machine fails to live up to the hype of high speeds but that fact that speed is now a consideration its all good for us. Sunlu needs to do a bit more work on the slicing and hardware. In the mean time I'm watching my XC1 Carbon just rip through prints, its such a great printer I think I'll get a 2nd one

      Their driers are misleading. They claim 70C and they only reach about 53C.

      You will need to re-flash firmware to your board and compile marlin from its source (or from one of the many modified versions, like TH3D Unified). Teaching Tech has a good video on this.

    I was expecting the machine to be running the latest version of Marlin which has Input Shaping, so at the highest speeds it should then be able to produce cleaner results. Of course, even then, to truly achieve such high speeds requires a high-flow hotend, well-tuned Linear/Pressure Advance, and very good print cooling. As the maintainer of Marlin Firmware, I can help to produce an improved version of Marlin (2.1.3 or 2.1.4) for the benefit of those who own this Sunlu machine, and perhaps Sunlu will use that as the basis for a firmware upgrade and post that update on their own website. It may not get it up to the touted speed of 250mm/s but it should at least give improved results at the highest speed it can realistically achieve. Thank you for your thorough review and including the helpful firmware upgrade advice to Sunlu. It really helps users when there is an upgrade path that actually improves the value of their hardware.

      Hi Scott, this machine deserves some attention - it is a great value for novices as you don't need to buy anything else to get started except filament and a metal flex PEI. It has been printing beautifully for the novice I gifted this machine (see my comment) using Chuck H's Cura profiles. They just called me to say how well it's doing on an ambitious 23 hour print.

Would love to see you do a roundup review of the best FDM consumer printers (say $1,500 or less) you have tested to date that are currently available for purchase.     Excellent review, as always.
    Could you advise? I have 2 Ender 3's, a Pro and a Max, but I want to print TPU and other flexible filament. Can you recommend a fairly inexpensive printer for this or am I better upgrading one of the Enders to direct drive?

      You can try Eryone TPU, I can print it with a stock Ender-3 at normal speed.

    I knew it was to good to be the all perfect 3d printer at such a reachable price. You guys are great and very precise with the information you all provide. I know this isn't printed on this video but where did you get the STL file for the military tank you've printed at an angle on other videos you have done. Thank you for your in depth reviews.

    There are no miracles. Everything is a 250mm/s printer if you are fine with getting a blob instead of whatever you tried to print.
    This being said this printer seems like an ender 3 with all the upgrades you might want pre-installed out of the box. I can see this as a viable and cheaper alternative to people looking to get an ender 3.

      The Elegoo 8K resin printer is pretty fast, in fact, most Mono resin printers(2K, 4K or 8K) only require 2 seconds for each layer, that's already pretty fast.

    My printer keeps on pausing everytime i begin a print. It will work for about 4 seconds then just stop and ive checked tbe clog detection am i doing something wrong? Tried contacting customer service and they havent responded

    Silk PLA does not like to be printed fast, even on capable printers. PETG is also more sensitive to speeds than PLA or ABS, too fast you will under extrude and possibly jam your hotend, too slow and parts will string, warp and your nozzle will ooze. In these cases your material will be the limiting factor, not so much the printer itself.
    I do love your reviews, but some comparisons and tests may need a little fine tuning.

      As long as the nozzle is 205C, bed is 60C and 100% cooling, it won't be an issue for the name of the profile.

    They should have used a direct drive at least. It's not even using capricorn on the bowden so from the start it looked to me like it wasn't really going to be that great.

    Please comment on the privacy clauses in the Bambu cloud service . It strkes me as being potentially invasive and is also linked to 3rd party affiliates. Cell phone tracking ,and Browser data is also collected.
    Should we see this as a problem ??

    how can you have something that claims to go that fast and still be using a bowden type extruder + inadequate hotend setup, I get they're trying to bring in something at a low price point to inject themselves into the market but this thing just seems to fall short of what they probably intended it to be. It's one thing to go fast, but to go fast AND print good is something you're not going to get on a budget printer like this. It is nice though to see more saturation in the market, forces other bigger names to compete with pricing while also making more features standard and innovating at lower price points since not everyone can afford a Bambu Labs X1 Carbon.

      Okay go buy a bamboo lab or a ankermake if you want to pay for innovation. People that understand consumerism know that existing tech naturally becomes cheaper, not new tech being used on bottom barrel priced products.

I definitely see what you mean but I was more along the lines of maybe making multifilament printers significantly cheaper, that may be a year or so out, but that is also a feature that the manufacturers can keep expensive.

      @@azimuth9819 while it is true that you need to buy new innovation for manufacture's to see its benefits and iterate on it. We need to stop buying outdated printer designs so companies look for innovation that we will actually spend money on.
      But yea you are right multicoloured printers are very expensive so we do need to buy them so companies will produce more to lower the price.
