- In 1968, a group of innovative educators founded the International Baccalaureate, or IB for short, an educational non-profit organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Its principles are based on the pedagogy of Marie-Thérèse Maurette.
The goal is to provide kids with the intellectual, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a globalizing world. IB programs encourage personal and academic achievement, they are fun and academically challenging at first and highly demanding later.

I did full IB, yes I’ve met the most brilliant people ever in IB that to this day inspire me and I am so bloody greatful for that HOWEVER the work load is IMMENSE and as someone who lacks discipline and is an intense procrastinator doing the IB burned me out, deadlines kept piling up. Anyone who’s interested, I recommend to definitely give it a shot and see if it works for you.

Speaking from experience with the diploma program, IB is not for everyone. (I reckon it's for very few people actually.) It's not particularly flexible in it's course demands. The most flexibility I saw was being able to drop an art subject and pick up a second science or humanities subject. So even for particularly smart individuals who wish to focus on a specific area in high school such maths and sciences will not be able to do that through the IB program and the may come out of high school worse off due to poor performance in areas such as a second language.
I'd recommend the IB diploma program only to those who have well rounded interests (arts, science, language, humanities) and who are decent enough hard workers to study, write essays, do major projects in all those areas for a period of two years.
Oh yeah, and one weird thing about doing the IB is when you get to university you'll likely find the work load compared to the IB significantly lighter until your second or third year. XD

The IB programm it's hard guys, it's not that easy and you'll have to work hard, really hard if you wat to have good grades on it: sometimes you won't have time for fun and hangout w friends or even find time to relax. It'll be time where u'll be crying and being so stressful that u wanna skip this education but u'll have to keep on trying, bc that's what we all must do when things are tought.
This type of education it's hard but it's good too. You will learn so much things and skills that you need to have in University. So if u want to beggin this tipe of education, please read this, u will thank me later.
I used to think like that... but honestly I realize nowadays it was the worst thing ever I did... yeah i learned some couple things i even got the diploma but nothing is like they said... scholarships and others...

@@Aiham if you have passion for all about knowledge.. yeah it does!! And it will be a great experience... but it doesn't worth it if you are not willing to sacrifice a lot things of your life without waitting nothing in the future (a diploma, scholarships,...)
My grandfather, Charles Gellar, was the headmaster of Copenhagen International School and was one of the people involved with the development and implementation of the International Baccalaureate in the 1960s. I'm very proud of him for that and for giving me and countless others who grew up in multiple countries a curriculum that's not only trying to push education, but create an education system that better accommodates our increasingly international world

The IB at the time seemed like hell, between the six big projects for the six classes, the extended essay, and the IB exams it was hell. But if could start over I would do it again

As an IB student, I must say that the IB does, up to some extent, help with getting to feel for everything there is to know about the world. But towards the end of the MYP and the DP program, it will start to absolutely feel like the British and Indian systems: Just study and study and study. Very little room to doing anything besides that, because everything else is just exams.

My school is revolting to remove this shit system
So apparently the IB exam questions are getting so hard even my teacher couldnt answer some... idk how to feel about that
I would add a psychological education to all pupils. A way for children to have an understanding of how people can be manipulated by others. And how to respond to it. A kind of defensive approach to harsher relationships and intergenerational problems. Something along the lines of a class from Harry Potter's defence of the dark arts. How to recognize when and how manipulation begins. The subtleties of it. Who can do it where it comes from. Even from Family and teachers. All the aspects of it.
Another good subject for the students should be Food Nutrition, we are what we eat. but if we know what we eat... we would not buy junk food.

👨🏻🏫 The concept and principles of a global education are sound, given we are one human species living on the same planet. Where the International Baccalaureate falters is in adopting a level of study that is too difficult for most students by age. It seems to require a college or undergraduate standard for students who are emotionally unable to cope with such demands. One amendment would be to move the levels up one step, leaving the most exacting for college students who are both physically and mentally more mature. As a teacher myself, now retired, I respect the achievements of all students and acknowledge the efforts they have put in to succeed.

I was a student of that program and I obtained 31 points in my promotion of the school, I hope that one day that title will help me something (I live in Ecuador). P.S. It is not so difficult to approve nor is it just for geniuses, it is enough to be responsible, self-taught and review material from studies from previous years.

The ib in primary is easy and fun but above its incredibly hard .. I’m in 7th grade and we have in each project 4 criteria’s which is A,B,C,D .. also we have to write an ATL reflection after everything we do and design and ins are sooo hard 😩 .. we LITERALLY had a week to write a 100 page research task about an ancient civilization then create a video explaining it (not in slides, it had to be a script and whatever) also for ins we had to do like 3 OPVLS (basically a 10 page source analysis) and write a 10 min speech about being an agent of change .. not to mention writing a full book in English and creating a lesson in ins as well as building a desk tidy and writing about it in design .. and creating our own play in drama and soooo much more (keep in mind I’m 13)

I *really* enjoy the quality and variety of educational videos on this channel. All I can say is *keep* *it* *coming* ! :)
Seems a little too rigid. I'd much prefer a system that personalized to every student's strengths and wants rather than a general program. The only subject I see as extremely important for everybody to study is basic math and geometry as well as complete courses in economics. These seem invaluable to anyone in any career in my opinion. It does sound better than general public education so I definitely prefer it to that.
I believe all students should learn calculus
I'm going to start my second year, that everyone says that is the real Hell. But after I would be very proud about the work I've done. I hope so.

My school might be switching from CIE to IB next year. Do you guys have any advice?
So, since its inception, the school I go to has used the Cambridge International curriculum. However, after everyone got mad at the school since most US colleges don’t care about CIE, the school might be switching to International Baccalaureate next year.
Do you guys have any suggestions as to which courses I should take to get the IB Diploma? I know nothing about IB so that’s why I’m asking.
Currently I’m taking:
-A Math
-AS Physics
-IGCSE Literature
-Introduction to Biotechnology (mandatory elective)
-Spanish I
-Principles of Engineering
-Health, Wellness, and Fitness (our school’s version of PE)
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! I am unsure as to what might happen if this change goes through, so thank you so much if you submit any advice!

Speaking from friends and experience, IB is honestly only good for people who don't have an idea what they want to do for college and the future. The workload is immense and can be extremely stressful and often makes people constantly stressed at school. Some found it helpful to understand how college work is like, but honestly, AP is a much better choice, in my opinion. Sure, a single test at the end of the year can be stressful; however, the flexibility and diverse content totally makes up for it. Not to mention you also can get plenty of college credit through AP!
My son is in IB DP(Diploma Program) high school. It’s really writing intense program. He is into math and the only thing he complains about is he never has time to study what he likes, which is math)) Too much homework and too much work. Probably the ones who like writing will enjoy it😉

Yağız Kart ive done ib. Not really worth it depending on where you live. If you live in the us definitely dont do it. You will get more out of AP

Yea I was in it too, for highschool, very few schools accept the credit in the states. You should see if your more interested in the us or abroad( more schools accept this abroad) . And once you start IB you should be very committed, it's not something you should take lightly, because you're kinda set in the classes you will take. Its comparable to taking AP level classes. Taking college courses during you're senior year also helps a lot for transferring credit.
I took it in Indonesia (graduated 2010) and I applied to go to uni in Australia, and personally thought that it was a great decision for me because the IB prepared me for what was to come! Also studying Theory of Knowledge (TOK) unlocked my mind lol.
I can't say about the AP, but I have also heard that you won't necessarily need the IB if you're aiming to get into universities in the US (sincr you'll have to study and take your SATs for that).
Unless you're planning to commit to it (and try your best to be prepared for it) and get good grades on the subjects you're taking, I've heard that you can bring some of those good grades with you as extra credits... Might want to check it with your school's career counsellor or something though!

IB sistemiyle Türkiyede ODTÜ gibi üniversitelere bile girme şansın olur, çalıştığına değer. Yurt dışında ise IB çoğu ülkede (özellikle avrupa ve amerika'da) geçerliliği olan bir sistem.

Children will enter new world of thinking n become smart and can decided of their own which profession is good for them , though intially they find difficult in studies but once they complete they studies ,they r best in all aspects .

The only thing making IB board distinct in our school is its high fees and a separate building for it, separating it the main building running on common Indian board called CBSE
I went to an ib school and have to say it was only more demanding than all my friends’s ones. It prepared me pretty well for colledge, but was nothing special.

It’s a shame IB isn’t all over the world, cuz the program creates smart and academically outstanding children.
In Norway IB is popular among international children. And in high school teens can apply after 1st grade, If their grades and performance are good. Really good. Outstanding.
The IB completely failed in my sixthform. I think if you've not started off with it from a smaller age, it's a lot harder and less successful
It’s a lot of work and some of it is useless but I think it also pays off. I think TOK is kinda stupid to be honest. But IB work gave me 16 transfer credits when I went to college which is equivalent to an entire semester of classes. I got to skip a few introductory level math and economics classes and spend time trying out other subjects.
I don’t think IB is for everyone but if you think you can do well in a many different subjects and you work hard it’s doable.
Oh just a note with college credit you need to score a 6 or a 7 in a subject to get credit for it. It’s not enough to just pass. But I think this is similar to having to score a 4 or 5 in AP subjects.
I wished I had the chance in the past to take this way for my but for this you need parents how support you. Now it’s to late. Maybe in the next live or on another worldline
This is medical information that we should begin teaching children from age 5, so if their parents or anyone smokes, they can tell them to stop or never stop, and hopefully it will stop most/all of them to never smoke. We should. And change the whole entire education system because it’s antiquated, and is is very hard to change worldwide, but nothing is impossible! Younger brains can learn more. Children should also start learning 1 or 2 or 3 languages. Plus it’s ridiculous to start teaching people who want to become doctors at age 21-22-24 etc, that’s just harder on people to start learning medical stuff which have big almost unpronounceable terminology. Plus why let people choose later in life if they want to be something in the medical field, we should force all people into that field, because education is by force now. And that’s what people should have been doing for hundreds of years, if not thousands of years. Let’s look at education as a large Beast that is hard to change but it’s not impossible. Nothing will change if we don’t start trying.
