Thanks for link, I am not the student I am looking for my daughter. I'm from india and she's going to be in grade 1, so we have different curriculum but ib seems to be different . If at all I'm not going to opt for foreign university is it worth studying in pyp and ib do and middle year being igcse ?
Dude, my maths teacher is a straight up neo nazi (not even kidding) and he says stuff like Time is marks, marks are grades, grades are university access, university access is job, job is having a good life. He got me scared
@@bedhaneopaney5086 I'm not saying that that is the reason he is neo nazi, I'm just saying that he is, and that it's a contributing factor to me not liking the guy. He's a blessed teacher but a horrible person. But Imma stop ranting now, sry
@@mgenburn5339 I’m doing it because I really want to get into a good university and the IB programme is technically a College Preparatory Course, but trust me I’m in MYP right now, and I’m kind of re thinking my life decisions.
@@janeth4655 Ohh, I heard about the middle years program, is it difficult? I was part of IB for freshman year, and I was blown away by the workload. I hope it’s not that bad for middle school! And good luck to you on your diploma:)
michelle Berea do it one something that interests you. For me, I did mine in physics. I did an HL course in physics but my EE had nothing to do with what was taught. You can do anything you want. Just ensure that you’re passionate about it
I'm not a very good student to begin with so when I got into IB, it was *LITERAL HELL* Was stressed as hell due to escalating family problems, sleeping 4-5hours each day if not all nighting, health dropped like a rock and I became severely sick, got hospitalized for 2.5 weeks during the month when IA's had to be turned in and was _Royally Fucked_ It was only due to the kindness and efforts of my teachers, instructors friends that I even managed to my CAS, EE, IA's done. I will give the IB system one thing is that they gave me lenience and split my higher level and standard level subject exams in two (3 subjects in May and 3 in November) which did really help. Still though even with a redo and the lenience I only managed to just pass and my asian parents were not thrilled... :/ Horrible, traumatic experience but even so I made some great friends and I think I learned a LOT about the importance of mental/physical health.
@@blob_cancel_aftercast if your teachers really care for you, they will find ways to make it work for you and use loopholes in the ib system if necessary, like splitting the exams between may and November so they're technically not breaking any rules
@@yikushieda Oh hey I didn't see this until now. Thank you! :) I'm not proud of myself but I'm glad if my story helps inspire others to continue. Stay strong, my friend. You can do this. Just make sure to take good care of yourself wellbeing while you're at it and believe in yourself.
@@blob_cancel_aftercast Like yi said, it wasn't a break in rules, mainly because the paper in may and nov weren't the same, so it's not like I could turn to my friends and ask them what was on the exam. It's been a while but basically anybody with severe enough medical reasons (ex. people with severe anxiety are allowed a stop mid-paper to take a supervised 1 hour break before going back to do the paper) can have special treatment in order to help to get to the same playing field as your average healthy student. For my case, past medical records as well as proof of my hospitalisation was more than enough for the IB to give the OK. Also process went by fast because all staff including the head invigilator knew and saw my deteriorating health first hand. Also my teachers were the real fucking MVP when they care. I got some major help from my teachers and extensions on IA's and EE in order to make up for the time I lost while in hospital. My wonderful english teacher was actually the one to help me leave the school grounds (i was struggling to walk without immense pain at this point) I was fortunate enough to have teachers that really do love their students and that's what inspired me to become a teacher myself. Pay it forward.
Tell me about it, most IB teachers came for me when I dropped the diploma program (the next best thing i could do since i can't drop IB) and all these teachers made me feel like trash and that i was wasting my time in IB and i was like whatever, IB sucks, go brainwash other people into thinking diploma is worth it. I'm just glad its my last year and I'm finally going to be free from IB😭
I'm in ib and I haven't started any EE's ,IA's and in 2 weeks I'm taking my exams. I'm doing fine but I'm not trying in my studies as hard. Don't be like me
English/Language Arts. Hmm...from my experience DP is typically more difficult than a student’s first, even second year of college. Depends if you want to be an overachieving student. As preparation for university, it will put you over the top. Advanced courses at a normal school would do although I’m not a fan of Common Core. They didn’t have this sort of education when I was in high school, for which I am grateful 🥳
I'm in Grade 12 doing part IB, best decision ever. Personally, I don't think that going full IB is worth it, because it is so intense and when you get to your final year, the courses are equivalent to university courses. I didn't think it was worth the mental/emotional/physical health compromise. Plus, we couldn't chose our HL classes, HL had to be Chemistry, History and English (which I think are some of the heaviest workloads for IB -- at least at my school) and in comparison to AP and other advanced programs, students who graduate with IB, like you said, can only have a chance at getting 3 credits, where as almost all AP classes are credited. Considering the amount of time and effort that goes into the work required, I wouldn't say there's much of a benefit for doing diploma (recognition wise). It's a great program to challenge your learning and perspectives and it helps to develop your work ethic. But overall, the benefits, to me, aren't outstanding, Even if you're a diploma candidate. Especially if you're certificate. But if it works for you, I'd say go for it!
Chemistry HL is honestly quite easy if you were from a decent curriculum in grade 10. Honestly the first 3 topics were already taught to us in grade 10. And the entire grade 11 topics of Chemistry HL should have been easy if you concentrated well in classes frankly speaking. I'm saying this because the actual difficult courses like Maths AA HL demand a lot more rigour and hard work and the end grade that you get in this is mostly not a satisfactory one either. For me chemistry HL was that HL in which I worked less but got great grade.
@@achyuththouta6957 Ah lucky, we didn't have a very good teacher for chemistry, often times he wouldn't explain why or how things worked or provide enough examples. And when we asked him he would turn it to be our fault for not understanding the material. I had to work three times harder to understand basic concepts because of it. I was a top student and it was a shared feeling with other top students. You have to note that just because the curriculums for IB may be similar, teaching methods, resources available can make a significant difference. For us Chemistry was the HL that was quite difficult
"Once you're in, *you're invested*" God that's so true, I'm in year 11 IB and my school just sent an email saying that all the emails of old students had been deleted. One brave soul counted the number of emails that had been deleted. *It was more than half of our cohort*
@@libbyb8075 Im not in IB (thankfully) but im pretty sure their mentioning about the amount of students who participated in the diploma program has dropped out

@@taliabenson7147 For the love of god don't. The IB is the most USELESS thing ever. You want a leg up when applying for Universities? Take Dual Credit classes. It's not only easier then regular high school classes in some cases, but it gets you UNIVERSITY CREDITS. IB gives you depression.
IB mark schemes are the dumbest things I've ever seen on tests. The questions will ask you one thing and then you're expected to write down like five additional things without any knowledge of what they should be. It's infuriating.
@@zoradora It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I was asked why electro negativity of one element was greater than the other. I knew the answer and wrote like 5 points and I got 0 because I didn't write the electronic configuration. How tf am I supposed to figure such things out? The questions should be specific and should convey what exactly they are looking for. It feels bad when you know the answer and you get a 0 because they fricking expected something which you didn't write
Im currently in IB and it's pretty stressful, I think it's even more stressful when you don't manage your time and use it's wisley to do your homework.
I feel like it really all comes down to the teachers and coordinators that are running your ib school. The teachers at my school are amazing and they have a whole plan mapped out for you to complete cas, ee, ias etc and honestly the juniors and seniors at my school are pretty happy, although it is very hard. And I get the credits are annoying because you get a lot more when taking AP classes, but idk not every school only accepts HLs and I believe you learn the material a lot better since IB classes don’t just come down to one test. And as she said, you will improve your writing skills. I mean I don’t actually know IB classes I just love my school so much I felt the need to defend it lmao I’m a freshman. We literally have required therapy sessions with assigned teachers every two months to make sure we’re ok. And they make sure to plan a lot of fun stuff to keep us from going insane. They also have student development days which is like you are with this group of kids for four years and you meet every couple of months and discuss the schools issues and what to do to improve them. We’re all family and I just hope IB will not tear me apart. Also is HL biology really that hard? I don’t know exactly what I want my major to be but every career I’ve considered is in the bio field. And advice about the HL classes I’m considering if you have the time: I want to take 4 HLs but I’m told it’s too much. HL bio HL theatre HL psych & HL English All these subjects interest me and I don’t want to cut any of them out. But if I had to what would it be? And, what are the easiest/hardest?
Hey! I’m a senior IB student, and I’m currently taking 4 HLs with HL bio. Honestly your HLs will be a blast. IB bio is a really fun time and getting to stick with the same people for two years is really beneficial. HL psych is super fun but it does require two IAs I believe. HL English is the one a lot of people do even as non-diploma candidates so you’ll get a really fun mix of people in those classes. Honestly, I say go for it! Do things you’re passionate about and don’t let anything take away that passion. Choose IA topics you’re interested in, ask questions, write a stellar extended essay. Honestly it’s a bunch of dough in your hands and you meld it to how you want it. It’s nothing to be too afraid of if you stay diligent and use the support around you :) happy trails!
Olivia Clay thank you for this! I really do feel like I’m interested in all those topics and writing IAs actually seems kind of fun to me? But I still have a year and a half until I have to decide. This message helped a lot and I wish you the best of luck on your diploma!
Allison Drzewiecki MAMA do HL bio i heard it so easy, I’m a certificate kid and I took ap bio instead of IB bio and I regret it so much, theatre is my HL too, it’s a lot of work(my teacher makes us do work but I don’t do it) I would ask your theatre director their opinion on it
I am taking four HL classes right now. HL bio, HL Spanish, HL English and HL History. I will admit that it is stressful but the classes are fun and if you use your time wisely it shouldn’t be too difficult. Then again I’m only in my first of two years of IB so thinks might change. I would say totally go for it if you’re passionate and willing to put in the effort!
IB actually refers to a curriculum and not just the final two years, those are officially named the diploma program. The IB is a curriculum that stretches from Year 1 - Year 13. These are divided into PYP (Primary years programme) which is year 1 - 6 and then MYP (middle years programme) which is year 7-11 and then DP (diploma programme) which is the last two years. This reason that DP is commonly referred to as DP would be because many schools have students learn through the British or American curriculum until the last two years where they can switch to IB.
Anil Sharma This is very common in most schools, the transition from gcse To ib may be very difficult though because the IB requires a lot more reflective work and has a whole set of new terminology but its not impossible. In my opinion, i was advise IB all the way because I found it to be the most advanced/open minded curriculum and for families that move a lot, it is very easy for kids to reintegrate into schools, but it is a lot harder. But I’m very biased, and I’ve only done GCSE Spanish so my opinion may not be the most reliable. Hope this helps!
Me randomly seeing this video on my RUclips feed, never searching anything related to IB, and yet...I’m in IB 😆. “Coincidence, I think not”. The government is watching! They know I’m procrastinating on IB work 😱😂
Oof I’m a senior in IB and IB so ready to be done with this ahahaha. Currently taking a break from working on TOK homework and my history IA to watch this. It gives me hope to see you come out in piece. Congrats on Cornell!
Critical thinking is essentially free, you don't need someone else to teach you how to analyze situations. If you do, then you're forced to obey that line of thinking with set limits on what you are able to analyze
IB is one of the hardest things that I have started (yet to finish. I still have about half a year). It’s really encouraging to see people that have finished it, especially recently, and can tell me about their experience in it. Thank you very much, this video really helped with having 17 min without being as stressful.
@@anxiacelijah7646 my fault, but that's impressive. Oh to have the writing skills and determination😹😹. I'm in the 2nd year, kind of going through it. My first term grades aren't looking too good..
@@itgirlinIT ooohh, i mean, assuming you’re taking IB?? i’d say take it easy, don’t worry about failing one assignment cuz you’ll have plenty of chances to make it up later- on another note, i’m pretty used to leaving things last minute and meeting the deadlines but i wouldn’t recommend doing that 🥴
Hi Katie! Although I'm a part of the AP system, I still feel overwhelmed with my courses (esp calculus hahaha). Seeing you talk about your experience with the IB made things a tiny bit better + motivated me to keep trying :'))))
Omg thank you for making this video! I was thinking of applying for ib, and so many people have told that its so hard and stressful. Although I have a perfect GPA, being in the ib program seems really time-consuming and difficult. ( And I dont think thats something I can handle lol)
Im a junior attending a full IB school, and I will say that the myp programs are very duable. They are extremely challenging (lots of work, tests, midterms, finals, etc). However for the diplomatic program, it gets about 10x harder from there. You have to complete CAS, EE, internal assessments in your senior year, along with midterms, IB exams, and finals. I barely get to sleep because of all the extracurriculars I do, and I won't say it's completely good because you dont really get to have that high school experience regular high schools have. I suggest you to go to an ib school or take ib classes if you are willing to work hard everyday, do your work, study for all your tests, and are passionate about doing well in school. Otherwise, if youre a slacker, I recommend to not go.
It's really not worth it. Even worse where I came from, the last 4 years we've had 5 teachers leave for another job mid year and we didn't have the choice of any language other than Spanish
Random comment, I'm currently in my final Gr 12 semester of IB: I think it's best to focus on each assignment and assessment at a time while taking a look at the grand scheme of things only every so often. I felt like it was the hardest to mentally handle at the start of my first semester in Gr 11, where they introduce everything you're supposed to do in the following 2 years; IAs, EE, CAS, TOK, TOK Essay, multiple exams for each subject as they are split into different papers (MC, Short answer, or a third paper for most hl subjects that goes more in-depth). Focusing on each at a time really helped with getting over each of these, though ofc I'll have to see how the exams are, as they are freaking me out too.
My daughter took some AP and Dual Credit courses prior to her IB programme classes, and yes, IB was incredibly stressful. But if you focus and work through it, there's light on the other side. Knowing what universities you are considering will help determine if it's a worthwhile effort. For my daughter, it was. She went into her first semester of college with 39 credit hours that applied to her degree program. She'll be able to earn her BA, with a minor, and a teaching certification, in her 4 years. All of that to say... the work can absolutely pay off.
45 damn already been in ib for 6 months and I'm never felt so stressful in my life it's basically normal classes but 2x harder double everything and besides the finals you still have projects to do
I can’t believe she had a lot of options for her IB courses 😔 At my school there is little to no options at all The only available choices we had (not including the mandatory courses like English and TOK) were IB art and IB Psychology I go to an underprivileged school so that’s the reason why we had limited options Some people are really lucky to be able to have more options for their IB courses tbh
my kids did IB in a middle class community & they only had those options too. it might depend on how well established the IB program is and how well qualified the teaching staff is.
At my school we didnt even get to choose, we were given specific classes and that was it. Language (Eng), Biology, Business Managment, Language (Spanish), Math, History and I may be forgetting some (of course not mentioning the forced TOK and CAS)
I did IB, my score isn't even that great (I was aiming for a 40 and only got a 38), but I think it's totally worth it. I actually started appreciating education, like I know why I am learning instead of wondering what's all this hard work for. The skills I developed during IB, especially critical thinking skills and research skills, transfer to uni and work. I think it's so much better than the local education system and if you can take IB, I say take IB.
As a parent you’ve given me so much insightful information and I really appreciate everything that you shared with your experiences throughout the IB program definitely have Subscribed I will keep up on your videos thanks a lot
I’m afraid I’m in my first year of IB and they started saying about the IA’s and I don’t know WTHeck it is. Also ECONOMICS OMG I HAVE IT IN HIGH LEVEL AND I DONT KNOW HOW IM GOING TO MAKE IT BECAUSE ITS SOOO DIFFICULT AND IM ONLY IN MICROECONOMICS 😭😭😭
RoseMG THEY’LL TEACH YOU ABOUT IT!!🙏🏼 you can also research online bc there are a ton of resources. ALSO check out my “how to get 7s” video bc I took econ HL and talk about tips for the IA! Good luck :))
45!? Damn... I was happy with 26😂 It really wasn’t worth it in the end, though, unless you’re trying to get into an extremely high rated college like U Mich or Harvard or Yale or Princeton. Dual Enrolment was really where it’s at or even just doing AP
TOK is watered down philosophy change my mind. Philosophy at IB (especially HL) is actually so fun and interesting please don't give it a bad rep by calling it TOK :(((
I'm tutoring two IB students, and my goodness, the EE and IAs are very stressful (especially EE). TOK is pretty fine, but Chemistry HL! Being a teacher, I'm a little overwhelmed with the syllabus (didn't expect spectroscopy for a high school student).
I also did the IB and I don't think it was worth it since it was quite time consuming (meaning if I spent my time differently I could have learned and get better at things that actually interests me). And I felt like watching Jordan Peterson's lectures on youtube made me a more critical thinker than all of those IB courses. I'm for instance a more practical guy and in our 2 years Physics course (HL) the teacher only taught us theoretical stuff.
Its a hard topic of discussion, since everyone is different (which is good), for me the IB was not a really nice experience nor worth it. Now I'm also college student anyways.
hatcha gamma that makes sense and I totally get that. It’s hard for broad programs to cater to a specific individual’s interest, so many people will have different takeaways! Happy to know you’re very aware of yourself as a learner.
From the perspective of actual IB Physics teacher, your teacher should know that there is a minimum 60 hours practical work and from IB it is mandatory (60 hours practice investigation)
When youtube knows ur stressed in IB and decides to recommend u this video 🤣 love it also this is my fourth year in IB...been taking it since 9th grade and im in 12th grade now and im taking full IB Diploma 😂😂😭

@@anaalvarez9102Alvarez it really does. Especially with Personal project. it may be fun to do, but the report is a pain to write along with e-assessment tensions and if you get a bad teacher in anything it gets worse
I'm not in highschool yet, and my school doesn't offer the middle years program but my parents introduced me to it and they found it a local highschool is offering the diploma program. They said it'd be a good idea for highschool because they know I'm already used to working very hard. Now they're planning to enroll me once I go into highschool. I've been doing a bunch of research over ahead because I know its better to start planning early. I hope to learn from older people that have already gone through it.
rachie hey as an IB student at what i consider to be a school with a great program, i also hear about schools with the IB program that do Not set up their students to succeed. i’d be happy to give u more info but basically try to find out if that schools program has a decent pass rate and try to tour or talk to IB students there
Ngl tho having done the IB is SUCH A FLEX! I got a higher score than world average and even though it ain’t a 45, I love having pride on the work I did
Guys, those of you bashing the IB because it doesn't prepare you for life, you're forgetting the entire skills-based aspect of the program. Students always get sidetracked by the academics, and they often TOTALLY FORGET that it also promotes so many life skills (social, communication, collaboration, research, etc) and promotes a balanced lifestyle (CAS). If you're obsessed with getting 7s all the time, yeah it's gonna be hell, and you're probably not going to embody the real point of it. But if you enjoy the process of just learning - it's awesome, and you will be awesome. Former IB student here, and current IB teacher, and I think it is pretty much the best education system out there.
My parents are m a k i n g me do IB. I have no damn choice and I’m scared I will have no life whatsoever. However, I do see the positives and I do see how it really prepares you for college and makes it seem much easier. Also, I live in America and would maybe like to study in England so doing IB would help me get into a uni there...
I was in IB in my junior year (full IB). I moved away to a different school (family reasons) and I’m so glad I didn’t stay for my senior year. I’ve had plenty of long nights of studying and genuinely feeling like I’m in an endless hell. I'm currently a senior in IB and I am dying, I had my first rough draft EE submitted with 1800+ words. And all of it was just gone in the matter of second when my supervisor told me to change my title and that was 1 month ago. Right now I do not have a research question, the only thing written is my name, and I'm in the mind set of self-abandoned. With Covid situation, the school asked students to finish all IAs, IOs, and rough draft of an entire EE within this term and the term ends before thanksgiving. So I don't really care is IB worth it or not, I'm just trying my best to survive all the bullshit. Stay Strong y'all.
me: in IB Senior that has been procrastinating EE Also, I have missed 3 days of school because I'm so behind and STRESSED that it's ruining my health (though Its been bad all highschool tbh)
Phe Singletary There’s essays for the ap History courses but they’re easier because they don’t care about grammar or any of that. You just have to get the points by following the rubric which is just facts and defending your answer. Not too hard
Here's the untold truth: although I never did the IB program, I attended an IB school (but in the regular stream). I saw all the IB students suffer. If you think IB will build character, develop good work habits, or help you skip a few university freshman credits (and tuition $), you're wrong. The school doesn't build you, you build yourself. Some of these IB kids ended up going to the same uni as me, a so-so ranked school where I've performed better than them. Fast fwd to today, several years later with a degree and working a full-time job in my field, I'm doing better than many IB grads career-wise. Oh and not to mention that back in high school, many of those IB kids were downright snobs and treated me like a second class citizen because I wasn't one of "them". And where are they now?
If you are in America it makes very little sense to do IB. AP just gives more credit and takes up less time while still giving a rigorous experience. There is plenty of essay writing in AP and you can do the AP Capstone program if you want research experience. American college admissions cares more about you having meaningful ECs, so it doesn't make sense to risk having all of your time gobbled up by IB.
@@cvs3740 You're seriously worried about homework? Listen it's actually good that you're having a lot of homework as you might probably make few mistakes and learn from them and gain experience. It's much much better than messing up an actual exam.
Achyuth Thouta thank you for the tips! yeah I’ve gotten used to the workload but overtime I got better with critical thinking. it is still stressful at times
I went to an IB school. I took the exams. I've been in IB since 6th grade (MYP until grades 11&12 which is DP). Honestly I didn't find it too hard, but I have accelerated learning capabilities and didn't stress about academics, ever. I didn't even know HOW to study until my second year of university. My whole life was stress, so I guess I didn't really have a stress trigger. I took IB courses for chemistry, biology, environment science, visual art, French, geometry, algebra, math studies, literature, theater, and film. I really liked visual art, it was high level, and I got an A every semester I took it. The IB exam for literature was a pain, had to memorize 50 poems. To be honest, I'm a strong writer. In advanced English in university, I got an A, and my professor suggested a few courses I'd do well in, including creative writing. My visual art class is how I chose my university major. My teacher had us try so many things and in that time I found I'm a natural in drawing, natural in pottery, and a pure love for graphic design. While in university, I found a liking for business, so I have a minor in business and a major in graphic design. My high school IB DP HL Visual Arts 1&2 teacher actually got teacher of the year. I loved the freedom we had. I could try just about anything, I failed so many times but I wanted to keep trying. He pushed us, but he also ENCOURAGED us to try things and be ambitious. My university application asked about all AP/IB courses I've taken..... listing about 16 courses by their full name was my least favorite thing. There was also the question about a struggle you had to overcome. I told my dark story of foster care and overcoming wanting to not life (for RUclips snowflakes). I guess between that and all my IB courses, that's how I got accepted into top schools. I also graduated in spring 2018, having taken the exams in May. So the program would have been the same for both of us.
To use a military analogy, IB is like a boot camp. AP is like doing JROTC. The latter is still hard, but ultimately easier to escape or minimize the role of or BS your way through than the former.
Whaaat. My school doesnt have the option to choose. I do HL History HL Bio HL French HL English (and TOK) and SL math studies (lol Ik) and SL IB art. We dont even have the options of economics and stuff like that
Why wasn’t this video recommend for me like yesterday?! I have just done the “exam” to get in to IB in Sweden. Like seriously 3 hours ago I sat and wrote a essay about why the teachers should pick me.
Im in a senior year and I promise that it gets easier after finishing all IAs and EE and TOK essay. If you focus on these, without giving a damn about grades and mock exams, and start learning to final exams after finishing all of written assignments, its possible to finish IB without anxiety (at least i have none so far). It is highly unlikely to be able to focus on both, learning and writing, because you will exhaust yourselves.

I'm not a very good student to begin with so when I got into IB, it was *LITERAL HELL*
Was stressed as hell due to escalating family problems, sleeping 4-5hours each day if not all nighting, health dropped like a rock and I became severely sick, got hospitalized for 2.5 weeks during the month when IA's had to be turned in and was _Royally Fucked_
It was only due to the kindness and efforts of my teachers, instructors friends that I even managed to my CAS, EE, IA's done. I will give the IB system one thing is that they gave me lenience and split my higher level and standard level subject exams in two (3 subjects in May and 3 in November) which did really help. Still though even with a redo and the lenience I only managed to just pass and my asian parents were not thrilled... :/
Horrible, traumatic experience but even so I made some great friends and I think I learned a LOT about the importance of mental/physical health.
hi, i feel this completely. im so proud of you for making it, you're fuckin amazing dude. i will see if i make it this may.
I don't even know how that's possible, but ok
@@blob_cancel_aftercast if your teachers really care for you, they will find ways to make it work for you and use loopholes in the ib system if necessary, like splitting the exams between may and November
so they're technically not breaking any rules
I'm in my senior year of IB when I say it's not worth it, it really is not worth it
Tell me about it, most IB teachers came for me when I dropped the diploma program (the next best thing i could do since i can't drop IB) and all these teachers made me feel like trash and that i was wasting my time in IB and i was like whatever, IB sucks, go brainwash other people into thinking diploma is worth it. Please tell us the truth, is it really worth it?

But if it works for you, I'd say go for it!
part IB isn't an option for me:( You're in or out.
Part IB is a thing???? Damn. My school is IB-only so I HAVE to do it, lol.

read the marker scheme or the assessment criteria. It does make sense but it's very harsh. Also, when answering, command terms are very important
It'll get easier to understand when you get used to it
IB mark schemes are the dumbest things I've ever seen on tests. The questions will ask you one thing and then you're expected to write down like five additional things without any knowledge of what they should be. It's infuriating.

Im currently in IB and it's pretty stressful, I think it's even more stressful when you don't manage your time and use it's wisley to do your homework.
I’m only in PIB but i feel that way bc my teachers are harsh graders
I think it’s only stressful when that happens, else it’s manageable if you don’t get distracted etc
And advice about the HL classes I’m considering if you have the time:
I want to take 4 HLs but I’m told it’s too much.
HL bio
HL theatre
HL psych
& HL English
All these subjects interest me and I don’t want to cut any of them out.
What school do you go to?
I’m a sophomore in high school right now... I have to choose my classes for next year. I’m SCARED!!! 😭

This reason that DP is commonly referred to as DP would be because many schools have students learn through the British or American curriculum until the last two years where they can switch to IB.
my school had 12 years.. pyp: 1-5, myp:6-10, dp:11-12
Ooh thanks for clarifying that! I should have specified the IBDP more. Thank you for this :)
IS IT OK IF WE DO IGCSE AND THEN SWITCH TO DP OR SHOULD WE FOLLOW IB. WHICH IS BETTER.
Anil Sharma
This is very common in most schools, the transition from gcse To ib may be very difficult though because the IB requires a lot more reflective work and has a whole set of new terminology but its not impossible.

Critical Thinking was like the one important gift in the Pandora's box that was IB. Invaluable skill to have despite the traumatic experience
Critical thinking is essentially free, you don't need someone else to teach you how to analyze situations. If you do, then you're forced to obey that line of thinking with set limits on what you are able to analyze

same!! Did u end up doing it tho?

I’m in pre ib and I’m struggling in AP world history but your videos encourage me to continue working really hard
45 damn already been in ib for 6 months and I'm never felt so stressful in my life it's basically normal classes but 2x harder double everything and besides the finals you still have projects to do
I can’t believe she had a lot of options for her IB courses 😔
At my school there is little to no options at all
The only available choices we had (not including the mandatory courses like English and TOK) were IB art and IB Psychology
I go to an underprivileged school so that’s the reason why we had limited options
Some people are really lucky to be able to have more options for their IB courses tbh
my kids did IB in a middle class community & they only had those options too. it might depend on how well established the IB program is and how well qualified the teaching staff is.
Im hopefully getting my diploma in may 2020... wish me luck... im really dying here
So do I

I hope to learn from older people that have already gone through it.
rachie hey as an IB student at what i consider to be a school with a great program, i also hear about schools with the IB program that do Not set up their students to succeed. i’d be happy to give u more info but basically try to find out if that schools program has a decent pass rate and try to tour or talk to IB students there
I know mostly everything about Ib system
I am in college
what am i doing here
I'm starting IB in 2 weeks and already stressed because of lots of rumors lol
It’s been 2 months… what do you think of it?
I start in September here in Madrid, Spain. So... stressed as well
soooo whats ur opinion bestie
@@jianingchen1297 I start in two weeks, can it really be as bad as people say:,(
@@lizkairima4953 well, can't go back now. We chose to suffer :,)
Ngl tho having done the IB is SUCH A FLEX! I got a higher score than world average and even though it ain’t a 45, I love having pride on the work I did
I'm seriously thinking about leaving this is way too much stress for no reason
I'm a student of ecuador, i'm in ib 2, i love the ib, i learn most things, and i like this
My parents are m a k i n g me do IB.
Even though we had the IB curve, I still felt like a failure because I looked at the grade before the curve. I don’t recommend it
can you explain to me How one can opt to do part IB and how it differs from full IB
As soon as you used the word autonomy, I realized why you got the 3 bonus points
the thing is my school’s tuition is VERY expensive because of IB so if i fail, i’m both dissappointing AND wasting their money. it’s so stressful
ahh I know how you feel. I’m sorry you feel so much pressure :( all you can do is give it your best!! I believe in you!
Hey! How is it going.?
I remember watching your IB results reaction video last year in 2018. I graduated IB this year on May and the memories from IB still haunts me :,)
I'm in the Pre-IB program in grade 9. The subjects I wanna take in the official IB are the following:
English HL
French SL
ITGS SL
Biology HL (Also my EE subject)
Chemistry HL
Math Analysis and Approaches SL
Wish me luck!
I also have imposter syndrome please help!
how’s it going? :)
@@jasmijnleeflang1279 wow it’s been years I forgot about it loll. It’s going alright. Im actually taking English lit a history (my ee subject) and bio as my HLs and French B chem and aa math as my sls. Im kinda burnt out but just doing my best heh
@@lanaalem1111 aaaa that’s so cool! i’ve just finished the first year of ib and thank god for my school, i was able to finish the ee this year so i don’t have to worry abt it next year haha. im glad ur doing alright! im doing eng b (ee), his & dutch lang lit hl & ess, geo & math ai sl so i did try to make it bearable haha
@@jasmijnleeflang1279 I finished the first year too! I’m in the process of doing my ee draft heh
It is so fun to learn about what IB means for your country. IB in the Netherlands is soooooooooooooo different, its really interesting to see this
I have to choose in a few hours, I don't know whether to take Ib diploma or Ib courses
Ugghhhh literally first semester of full IB. I can’t anymoreeee
I’m currently in grade 10 and seriously considering going into IB. I’ve always understood all our subjects very easily. In all honesty is it worth it?
Graeme Zimmerman same but idk if it’s actually worth it🤷🏾♀️😭😭
nope, especially since most universities don’t really count IB courses for college credit.
Yeah just do ap
It really depends on which college you are planning to go to.
I’m in the same boat right now how’d it go?
People are talking about Literature and Economics but HELLO, HL MATHS FELLA HERE
bro HOW
Bro hl math physics and chem here
Andrew Priority YOOO good luck fam
me: in IB Senior that has been procrastinating EE
Also, I have missed 3 days of school because I'm so behind and STRESSED that it's ruining my health (though Its been bad all highschool tbh)
I am going to start my IB courses within few days. Wish me luck
How's it going for you
@@goldfeed torture
you alright bro?? 😭😭😭
@@faye5947 no, I took phy HL
is it worth it
FYI AP classes also have essays, they’re just called Free Response Questions, and I’m pretty sure all AP exams have them
Yeah but y’all get multiple choice
Thanks for clarifying this! I appreciate it.
But they aren’t essays. They’re usually answered in just a paragraph
Phe Singletary There’s essays for the ap History courses but they’re easier because they don’t care about grammar or any of that. You just have to get the points by following the rubric which is just facts and defending your answer. Not too hard
Not all AP test are just multiple choice. For the three test I had to take I had to write 2 or 3 essays for each.
@Zachary Khan I think so but I can only speak truthfully from my experience.
Thank you for clarifying this! I’ll keep this in mind.
I didn't pass my ib exam, so I have to retake it next year, and it will be my last chance. I am lowkey worried that I won't pass again 😫
You will pass that exam
Amen.
@@zzznore8980 thank you 😊
Best of luck, im rooting for you 🖤
did you pass??
@@hannahm2235 the exams are cancelled because of corona 😓
If you are in America it makes very little sense to do IB. AP just gives more credit and takes up less time while still giving a rigorous experience. There is plenty of essay writing in AP and you can do the AP Capstone program if you want research experience. American college admissions cares more about you having meaningful ECs, so it doesn't make sense to risk having all of your time gobbled up by IB.
Starting IB this year. I’m TERRIFIED!!!
i'm finishing my 1st year in ib and i'm already dying
IKR as a pib freshman i remember on the second day i had hw in all my classes 💀
@@cvs3740 You're seriously worried about homework? Listen it's actually good that you're having a lot of homework as you might probably make few mistakes and learn from them and gain experience. It's much much better than messing up an actual exam.
Achyuth Thouta thank you for the tips! yeah I’ve gotten used to the workload but overtime I got better with critical thinking. it is still stressful at times
When you are early cause you love Katie 🥺🥺
Suwi LOVE U🥺❤️
We dont even have the options of economics and stuff like that
Oh yeah and we also did not have the option to choose to have SL science. It was either HL chem or HL bio and physics as an elective
Letícia Araújo Ah that makes sense, a lot of IB schools do it differently!
For electives my school only has psychology and physics/ chem which they alternate each year
Letícia Araújo FRENCH HL is where it’s at
Why wasn’t this video recommend for me like yesterday?! I have just done the “exam” to get in to IB in Sweden. Like seriously 3 hours ago I sat and wrote a essay about why the teachers should pick me.
early squad 💛
Im in a senior year and I promise that it gets easier after finishing all IAs and EE and TOK essay. If you focus on these, without giving a damn about grades and mock exams, and start learning to final exams after finishing all of written assignments, its possible to finish IB without anxiety (at least i have none so far). It is highly unlikely to be able to focus on both, learning and writing, because you will exhaust yourselves.
