I'm currently having heart palpitations, if you did IB how did you eventually do????
You forgot to mention that if you fail CAS you also dont get your diploma
you have to be really stupid to fail CAS. If you go to a good school they wont let you fail it. They will make you fix it until its good.
Wait your highschool diploma??
@@makomokie4360 No, not your high school diploma, just your IB diploma.
Also they measure it by experience not volunteering hours
How can you fail CAS?
Im a senior in IB and as much as i say that i hate IB, Im glad that I went into this program. This program has taught me so many things, not only just the content we’re learning, but time management skills, how to write research papers, thinking critically, study habits, and so much more. Also, many of my friends who have graduated from Ib have told me that their first two years of college was much easier because of how IB trained them.

Hello, my school is also not so competent I think because it is a publjc school. Could you please tell me which resources you used to learn IB? Thanks
As a senior in the IB program during the COVID pandemic, I am honestly really frustrated. The workload is truly unforgiving and I frequently question why I’m even doing all of this. On the other hand, IB really does prepare you for higher education and i am grateful for having been able to be a part of it. It’s a love-hate relationship but you learn to work with it I guess
How old are you and how many years does it take to complete? How did you feel about going to a school that was not your own or close to you?
helloo how's university
Hi everyone--it's been a while! I'm currently at university studying English and biology and minoring in chemistry. It's been a couple years since I graduated from the IB program but looking back, I'm so glad I did it. IB not only made me a far better writer (with the EE, IAs, etc.) but it also made the adjustment to college fairly easy. I owe all of the beneficial study habits and research skills that I have now to doing IB in high school. To anyone who's facing the brunt of the workload right now (seniors with IB exams approaching): it may seem pointless to you right now--it certainly seemed like an endless grind to me at the time--but you WILL reap the benefits in the future.
@@campbellm2530 that's good to hear! good luck with the rest of uni!!
@@campbellm2530 any important tips you have during all grades 9-12? I’m currently in grade 8 and transferring to IB in grade 9. It would be awesome if you could share tips or anything that helps!
For anyone who is scared to take Ib, I was too. I’m a year into IB and I have to say it’s one of the best decisions I made. It’s different for every school but the way they teach is much better than normal classes, the counselors are supportive, CAS is extremely rewarding, and they help a ton with college apps. It’s hard don’t get me wrong, but it’s not as bad as people make it seems. My biggest tip is to manage your time and try to stay on top of your work. All of this may seem like a lot, but it’s a step by step process. If you have any questions, please lmk! I know a lot of people talk bad about IB but don’t be scared I promise it’s not that bad ❤️
Update: I got my IB diploma and I’m officially done with high school! I still stand by my statement that I think joining the IB program was a great decision, but everyone’s different and there were definitely extremely stressful moments during my time in IB. Good luck to those who are in IB/joining IB and l’m still here if you got questions :)

I'm scared lol. I'm starting IB courses starting from Freshmen year. If a 7 is equal to a 4.3 GPA and a 6 is equal to a 4.00 GPA, I'm starting to worry about how hard it will be just to get a 6.
The classes themselves are not horribly hard, it's the rest of the bullshit that has no actually benefit that is beyond annoying. It takes up time that should be dedicated to core classes, bit isn't cause the ib doesn't understand the student and their expectations
Freshman year and 10th grade is the myp aka the pre IB when you get to 11th and 12th grade that's when you'll face the actual Ib program. It happens the last 2 years of high school

IB is a lot of work, so if you're prepared to put in 80-90% of your day doing work then go for it! If u do well in the diploma it saves u money in college because they give u credit for the courses u took. Different universities have different credit policies. I know that with an IB diploma in Towson university u can enter as a freshman but be given sophomore status. This means u graduate with a bachelors degree in 3 years and essentially save one year worth of tuition. Now, this doesnt Include college credits u may or may not have taken, which can also fasten ur graduation in uni
If ur low income, it’s definitely worth ur time bc u would save urself a year of college tuition and reduce ur debt that can take years to pay off.

Honestly, as much as it sucks, I’m pretty grateful for the IB. It stands out as a high-school program and I would say it’s very good at preparing you for college. Some tips for students joining the IB tho:
1) Be open and transparent with your teachers about EVERYTHING from DAY 1. Don’t let your pride take over you. It’ll save you a ton of trouble down the road
2) If you don’t really like a lesson, I don’t care what your coordinator says, DO NOT TAKE IT! I just finished the November exams (I graduate may 23). I missed the 7 in math AA HL (one of the hardest IB courses) for 1% and got a 4 in italian ab initio because my coordinator thought my program was too tough and I needed an “easy lesson”, so he gave me italian (I hate learning languages but didn’t disagree at the time). On that note, do some research before choosing courses, and if you feel like you need to change a course, do it early on.
3) Don’t take computer science. Seriously, it’s the only course with an IA that makes the EE look easy. On a serious note, the IA is ridiculously hard and annoying, and I’ve never seen a course ask for CS. The lesson isn’t particularly fun either. You barely code and just regurgitate stuff from the text book
4)Just have fun! If you choose the right subjects, sure it’s gonna be a lot of work, but you’ll seriously enjoy it as well. My math course is my hardest course, but it’s also the only course (besides the mandatory ones, obv) in my program that I would keep if I could make it over
Me seeing this comment one year into CS 💀💀
Hi I just finished my IGCSEs and know I have to decide whether I stay at my school and do A levels or change to a school that offers IB and at first I was thinking about taking in but know I have seen the courses that I would have to pick and originally I wanted to take chemistry, physics and biology plus maths but I noticed that all 3 subjects are in the same group so does that meant that I have to choose between one of them and then have to do other subjects like economics, English literature and French bc those are subjects I really have no interest in
@@Vera018 keep doing A-levels. They’re respected equally with the IB, even more than the IB in the UK, and are A LOT EASIER. Everyone from my cohort that I asked agreed that given the chance, they’d have done A-levels instead of IB

*Dear Lilia, please be an IB Coordinator somewhere in the world. You can immensely help students.*
I don't know about other countries but in India? You have to be extremely wealthy to send your kid to IB. You must also be well educated yourself to understand the kid's train of thoughts. Open-mindedness being one of them. The amount of time you spend for your kid's education is INSANE. Its like you are studying with them. You need to buy them the materials and search for stuff within a specific amount of time. These problems will not occur in any other board except in IB and probably IGCSE. The cost of just buying all that on top of the probably 3-4 Lakhs in just school fee will put a huge dent in your bank account. You need to keep up with your kid or they will just leave you behind. Already there is a generation gap. We don't need an ideals gap as well. I think CBSE or even ICSE is good enough. Consider IB if you are looking into joining any Uni in foreign countries. India has only a handful of Unis which will accept ur IB diploma. The exams of IB and the other boards of India's just don't match at all. Most Uni's won't accept a predictable score, Even if you bribe them with a truck load of money.

So I'm thinking on transferring to an IB school near me which btw, is WAY better than the current school I'm zoned to. Plus, it's recognized nationally and is an exemplary school. Due to the extreme stress AP and IB students experienced there, they have lowered the workload and have stopped ranking students who aren't in the top 10%. I know that taking IB will take up a lot of my time (plus I'm joining their debate probably, which is in top 10 in USA) and that it will be extremely hard. Do you think I should transfer for the IB program, or would it not be worth all of the stress?
Try it and if you feel as though it is too much then drop it, it'll be worth having the experience of being in the IB program then regretting never doing so.

Hello, if anyone has any useful information and tips on how to excel in the IB Programme grades 9-12, if you could reply to me and tell me anything I need to know that would be fantastic. I am currently in grade 8 and going to transfer to IB in grade 9.
hi, im currently in 11th grade and this was my first year having full ib. im planning to do another full course of ib for senior year as well. seeing as i've finished a few ia's already and have seen a lot of what ib has had to offer, i have a few tips:
-make. friends. i have no idea how else someone could make it through ib if you don't have at LEAST a group of acquaintances. you cannot finish work without sacrificing time and sleep, so if you would like to keep some of that, keep a few classmates close to trade answers with and get guidance from with assignments. support & back-up is the absolute most helpful thing to have.
-time management is so important no matter how many ib classes you're taking. i have had my ass saved so many times because past me thought to do an assignment or two early so i could have the rest of my time prepping for my other work.
-speaking of ia's, take your downtime during break/weekends to brainstorm and mentally prep for them. i was launched into my bio ia right after winter break and i slightly regret not thinking more about a topic, though i did pull through in the end.
-bullshit a lot of things. i'm going to guess you're proficient in english if you're entering ib in 9th, so get ready to type out paragraphs of absolute nonsense (make it overall coherent of course, but never be afraid to add length to some things to reach that word count). they make you do ia's for math, which.. are ridiculous. i didn't have ib math this year, but they had my friends filling up pages with strings of formulas and so many words. WORDS for a math assignment.
-get adjusted to word, powerpoint, EXCEL if you haven't already. make practice spreadsheets and learn how to create charts. it'll help you a lot. wish i knew that before i had to use excel especially.
-look up videos and examples for ia's and ib coursework. reddit has a plethora of old ib students who had great scores and still kept their work for you to look at.
-be communicative with your teachers and your counselor the whole process. maybe they won't round your grade this time, but if you're nice and appeal to them enough, it can make a lot of the stress melt away (basically just. be nice to your teachers. doesn't hurt)
good luck! it's definitely challenging so don't suppress any frustrations & just take the punches as you can.
aight ima head out

I've only done pre-ib which is basically academic I think and am failing math, barely passing my second language and still spending a lot more of my time than I'm used to just doing homework.
People say to do it if you want to go out of your country and tbh, I don't know if I do. I'm also thinking if I can barely handle what would be academic, how am I meant to handle the actual program giving college level courses??
