Bout to say haha. Im 19 but I dont know what you mean used to be. If anything they're more now than ever with as much garbage is circulating the industry and daring to put itself in the same music category as such a genius band as this. We all need a moment of silence for the loss of actual good talented music being mainstream
I have to say, It's always great when a band has something to say...and when their lead singer can delivery that message in a way that connects with the audience. Queensryche must be one of the most under appreciated GREAT bands of all time. In a day and age of dance numbers, lip synching entire shows and dozens of backing track vocals when they do decide to sing, a band like Queensryche shows you the beauty and the majesty of doing something pure, simple and powerful.
True but hate to say there aren't bands that are underappreciated there are people with more advanced music taste than others. Ok compared perhaps to Gun's n Roses they weren't that mainstream successful but to metal audiences Queensryche are one of the true greats ever.
They are the best I've ever heard. I started listening to them when I was 18, I'm 54 now and they are a staple in my household!. Pure, Raw and original!
One thing Tate sang manly. Meaning that where a lot of rock singers sang in a high range but sounded almost like a female. But Tate could hit some extremely high parts but still sounded like a man. One of the best vocalists of all time.
Because he's a baritone vocalist who could hit very high tenor-sounding notes. Not many rock vocalists could do what he did and use their voice like he did.

I've heard people say that Queensryche would have made millions more had they emerged ten years earlier. But to be honest, I'm glad they came out when they did. It did two things: 1. It made/kept their music more authentic. They wrote more from the heart without the temptation to write garbage to make a quick buck. 2. It also made their fanbase more authentic as well. You don't hear many people hating on Queensryche simply because they haven't heard of them, and those who do generally enjoy what they hear. Frankly, in my opinion, I like it that way. Seems more genuine to me.
Before today I had only ever heard Silent Lucidity. Just bought their greatest hits and realized that I've heard so many of their songs and never realized who sang them...Good God, this band absolutely ROCKS!!!!!!

I saw this band open for Ozzy in '86. I'd been a fan of theirs for several years already by the time that I saw them live. I thought that Empire really showcased every member of the band, including Geoff's vocal abilities, and the album instantly became one of my all time favorites. It really crushed me when their troubles arose and Geoff left the band.
