      No competition with most other bands, they were all in the majority classic and great and had their own nuances, competition wasn't the name of the game. One big juggernaut of mates was metal in the old days.

    Clearly the best band of the era with extraordinary musicians, experts in their own field. And that voice, there is no match. Between Steve Perry (Journey) and Geoff Tate, their simply were no other singers, Eddie Jackson (Bass), Chris Degarmo (lead guitars) and of course, Scott Rockenfeld (drums) and Michael Wilton (Guitars), that band was supreme with incredible songs. Whatever happened, they had their time when they were #1.

    I have to say, It's always great when a band has something to say...and when their lead singer can delivery that message in a way that connects with the audience. Queensryche must be one of the most under appreciated GREAT bands of all time. In a day and age of dance numbers, lip synching entire shows and dozens of backing track vocals when they do decide to sing, a band like Queensryche shows you the beauty and the majesty of doing something pure, simple and powerful.

    • @dreadalex
      @dreadalex 3 года назад +5

      True but hate to say there aren't bands that are underappreciated there are people with more advanced music taste than others. Ok compared perhaps to Gun's n Roses they weren't that mainstream successful but to metal audiences Queensryche are one of the true greats ever.

    The outro vocals on this are truly as great as the first time I heard it when it came out. Beyond fucking stellar......Geoff and Chris were musical brothers on levels most hope to achieve that get into bands.

    I've heard people say that Queensryche would have made millions more had they emerged ten years earlier. But to be honest, I'm glad they came out when they did. It did two things:
    1. It made/kept their music more authentic. They wrote more from the heart without the temptation to write garbage to make a quick buck.
    2. It also made their fanbase more authentic as well. You don't hear many people hating on Queensryche simply because they haven't heard of them, and those who do generally enjoy what they hear.
    Frankly, in my opinion, I like it that way. Seems more genuine to me.

    I saw this band open for Ozzy in '86. I'd been a fan of theirs for several years already by the time that I saw them live. I thought that Empire really showcased every member of the band, including Geoff's vocal abilities, and the album instantly became one of my all time favorites. It really crushed me when their troubles arose and Geoff left the band.

      Thats likely the influence of the seattle area via microsoft and apple. Tate went to Interlake high school in Bellevue. This was the era of Seventh Force before grunge hit in the early 90s. Tate used to exercise at the Golds Gym in Kirkland.

    From '82 through '90 this was one of the greatest bands in metal, but after '90 the band was never the same. The personality conflict that haunted their post '90 releases would eventually cost them their record label. After Tate and Degarmo left all hope was lost. RIP Queensryche. One of the greatest bands of the 80's.

    • @1ZZ1_1ZZ1
      @1ZZ1_1ZZ1 2 месяца назад +3

      @@Th3Kn0w1ngSt4r Promised Land was a dud, and Hear in the now frontier wasn't much better. They were not Queensryche worthy releases and fans began to lose interest driving record sales off a cliff. This drove EMI crazy because the band wouldn't stick to a genre and they had no idea how to promote them. EMI also lost money on both releases. Did EMI kill the band or did the band kill EMI? Regardless, it proved what everyone had already been gossiping about. DeGarmo wasn't happy with the bands alcoholism and lack of focus. He was their last / best hope to turn things around, and when he walked in frustration it was over. Now they're covering Rebel Yell? It's over gang. It's been over for a while.
